Mordechai: All the news snippets seemed related to older ones, or just weren’t really news. There were a few new ones posted in various places, but nothing earth shattering, his mind wasn't swayed in the least. The mission was still on. Deep in subconscious he got a small alert, so he flicked his thoughts towards the cellphone he no longer carried. Mordechai left it home on a charger, but he could access it from anywhere. Reading the text he smiled and rose. Tonight would be the last night of planning. Tomorrow night’s events could very well go down in city history...or rewrite it. Stopping at the door the killer re-adjusted his spine sheath, and checked the little equalizer he had made, making sure it was secure, but swung easily and freely on its combat sling beneath his arm. Stepping out into the darkness he headed toward the bike. Long, confident strides took him quickly to its resting place and he easily swung astride. One kick and the muted rumble filled the small parking area as he kicked it into first and headed out to the southwest. Finally catching the road that headed south through the wilderness Mordechai rolled on the throttle and the powerful bike lept forward, heading towards White Castle. A few short minutes later he eased off the throttle letting the bike roll smoothly to a stop near the athletic female waiting calmly in the clearing. Switching off the ignition he paused for a moment as he thought over their history together, then swing his leg off the Judge, he nodded ‘’Hey Pru’’

Prudence: She smiled wide when she saw Mordie approaching on his bike. Pru waited until he got off the bike and acknowledged her before Pru put a hand in the air and waved a little, then added in "Heya Mordie." She looked around, listened and then returned her stare to him. "It's quiet out here tonight. Just as well though." She pushed off the wall she was standing on, using both of her palms then moved closer to him. "So what's shak'n? Everything still on for tomorrow?" The redhead stopped a few feet in front of him, crossed her arms at her chest and watched a small wolf go running past them in the not so far distance. "Get my text about dressing warm?" She added with a small laugh as her stance relaxed and her arms slowly dropped to her sides.

Mordechai:''Aye, got the message. the wind is my problem to solve, but the BORS handles the temp and barometric pressure, angle or declination or inclination and all the rest...makes the job so easy now. Not like when i started out.'' Pausing for a moment he realized that once again he was over-explaining, so with a slight shake of his head his bicolored eyes looked to her blue orbs ''Its on, I have neither seen nor found any reason to abort or change. I reconned everywhere, and got two Hebigumo employees picks lock inside.'' The tall killer tapped his head. A few small things left to do, but I think we are set, over all. Do you see any flaws?''

Prudence: She thought about what he said, then shook her head. "Nope. You will make the shot though, right? I'm not really a long distance kinda gal. Like to get up close and personal." She cackled softly. It wasn't that she didn't think he couldn't do it, but there were a lot of elements to consider from a greater distane than arm length. "What about security? Camera's and ****?" She wasn't overly worried about herself, since she was going to be looking like a Hebigumo employee, but what was he going to do if he happened to get caught? "Where are we gonna go? Where do ya want me to summon ya to after it's all said and done?" Details were important to Prudence and she was more or less like a soldier. Give her a task and she would find a way to follow it through.

Mordechai: Mordechai considered her questions and organized answers in his head before responding. ''Yes, i will be taking the shot. It is no different than the vermin hunting I have been doing since I was a child. I checked out all around the site I will be shooting from, there are no cameras or security patrols. I have two images of Hebigumo employees, lower level ones so if I have too I can change my looks a second time after I get in.'' The killer paused for a moment as his eyes tracked their surroundings, and his mind reached out looking for any nearby electronics. Sensing nothing close enough to be eavesdropping on them Mordechai continued. ''The roof of Alpha Towers looks like the best place, Eleven hundred fifty eight yards an easy enuff shot, no thermals, prevailing wind is from the west, so little to no cross breeze. As far as where to go after, I have a few Ideas but want your input. You are good at planning. You are very bright, I value that and it is part of why I wanted you with me. Before i go ahead, do you have any suggestions?''

Prudence: She listened to the plans he had worked out last night while they went and did their own thing. She smiled when he talked about Hebigumo employees, recognizing that they had the same idea, more or less if **** got hairy. When he looked at her and asked for her input, Prudence just stared at him.

Prudence: She looked surprised for a second, maybe even longer before the look disappeared and a thoughtful one was replaced. "Welp, I got a couple of ideas." She started out, thinking of a few places and her reasoning to why she would would pick that place. "Could go to a public location, slip in a bathroom and summon ya there, that way after **** goes down, you're surrounded by people a minute later tops. Decent alibi if needed. Or I could take ya to the Fort even. Far from the scene of the crime. No one would probably even think ya were behind the trigger anyways." She shrugged her shoulders, giving it more thought. "Just wouldn't want to be caught too close to the district just in case they start questioning people in the area and **** gets messy." Pru nodded her head, then looked at him, wondering what he thought.

Mordechai: A slow grin crossed his face as he thought of what people would say if they saw Pru and him leaving a bathroom together, but this was no time for levity. ‘’ I think near a public place would be better than in one. There are sec cams all around the city capturing unlucky ‘pyres using powers. I like your ideas though and we can use the cams to our advantage. There is a small block of overgrown wilderness east of the Cherrydale transit. If you summon me there, we can hide the gear for awhile, zip across the street to the Cherrydale bank and use the ATM for a withdrawal. It will take a time stamped picture of us. Then we can go over to Grey’s saloon and play the game of being human there for awhile building the alibi. At closing we can grab the gear and drop into the sewers’’ Stopping, the normally laconic vampire considered other options. ‘’ I would rather stay away from the fort at first, but we can go there after if needed, just don’t want to take the chance of drawing attention there.’’

Prudence: Grey's Saloon. A smirk pulled on her face as he mentioned that and she recalled the memory of posting on Crownet that Sangue owned the fort and anyone not permitted in would be tossed the **** out or attacked. They even sat in the bar for a few days and night, making it their temporary home. "Groov'n at Grey's for the after party it is. Good plan, Mordie." She acknowledged his cleverness vocally, then moved past him to pat him on the shoulder for further encouragement. Not that he needed it, because it was Mordie. People who didn't know him might think he was dumb, heck, most people thought she was even dumb, but that was a big misconception. "Welp, now that we have that all settled-" Pru trailed off, not really sure what to say. The plan seemed solid and it would get carried out. There wasn't much more to say about it in her mind. "Guess I should let ya get back to DD. Tell her I say hi. She's been too quiet for me, but then she could be loud and getting in trouble all the time. So quiet ain't all that bad."

Mordechai: The massive killer nodded his head,'' I will finish up the small details and be ready tomorrow night. The rally is set for late afternoon. We will do it just as the artificial lights come on for evening.'' Turning he slipped astride the judge then turned his head back, ''DD has been in the catas a lot, but she is coming out more and more, I will tell her you said hi. Want a ride back into town?'' Mordechai raised an eyebrow as he waited on her answer

Prudence: The offer was tempting, but she hadn't been on a bike in a while and that was sort of something her and Cliff did. And now, now, Prudence didn't want to do anything they did together. Ever. "The catacombs? Maybe I'll try and swing down there later tonight and see if I can catch up with her. Thanks for the tip." She smiled and gave him a small salute of appreciation. "And no thanks. I have some things to do around here. Looking for some ritual ingredients since I decided to go around carrying a wand and riding a broomstick now." Prudence snorted and then laughed a little. "Just give me a text or mind mail later if ya need to talk about any changes. Otherwise, I'll see ya there?" She shifted on her feet, even rocked back and forth a little as Prudence looked at Mordie, waiting for his answer and for him to take off on his bike before she went on with her business.

Mordechai: A low chuckle escaped his lips. ‘’Well we can talk about your wand and broom later...I do need someone to sweep up around the shop, but i have some of the things that ritualists are often looking for. Keep safe’’ Turning back he started out before she threw something, a grin on his face. It wasn’t far for a vamp to go, but he wondered at the look on her face when he offered a lift. Shrugging again he head towards the office, DD was still out, and he had a few things to finish up.

Rolling in behind midknight armaments once more, Mordechai swung from the bike, once more lifting it on to the centerstand before unlocking the front door and entering. Heading into his office, he once more went through the redundant security to open the safe. Slipping 6six of the special lapua rounds from their box, he carried them out to his desk. Selecting a can of
Rem-Clean Bore Cleaner, he sprayed a small amount on a rag, before polishing the shells till they gleamed. Pulling on his leather riding gloves he slipped the shells into a small plastic bag and sealed it, slipping them into his pocket. His internal clock told him there were still two hours till dawn. It would be enough. Slipping outside one more he headed off towards the new Hebigumo headquarters. It had made the news for days when they moved here, ‘A benefit to the city’. After a quick glance around he took off at that amazing speed that only killers, and those that had the experience to bridge over and learn their powers, could obtain.

Stopping a block from his target, he paused for a moment, observing the grounds and guards. Once satisfied, he concentrated on the first image he had of an employee, and felt a small rippling as he was cloaked within an illusion of the man. Stepping out on to the walk, he confidently headed towards the guard shack now manned by one human, as the other had begun a set of rounds that he knew would take twenty minutes to complete. Walking up to the gate the killer reached into his pocket, withdrawing the plastic bag and opening it. As he reached the door, he bend down, placing the cleaned cartridges on the concrete, then standing and turning to face the puzzled guard. As he stared into the mans eyes enthralling him, Mordechai made note of the name on the mans chest badge. ‘’ John, could you please pick those up for me? they seemed to have slipped from my bag’’ he said as his mind bored into the guards taking total control of it. Holding the bag open he smiled in appreciation as the man picked up each of the shells, depositing fresh clean fingerprint on each brass casing. ‘’Thank you John, you can go back to work now, you have seen no one, and wish your partner would return so that you could go for a fresh coffee. As the post hypnotic like suggestion was buried in the enthralled mans mind, Mordechai turned and left. Two blocks passed uneventfully under his feet, before he let slip his grip on the unsuspecting John’s mind.

Riding the transit into Bullwood, Mordechai stepped into the empty fields across the street, summoning six spirits to him. Feeding from them he felt his inner being, his chi if you will, growing full. Back across the street to the dimly lit shop he went to the back, trading three source codes for twelve bags of blood. Ripping hungrily into them, he quickly drained them dry, the leather gloves keeping his prints from the poly bags. Tossing the remain in the green overflowing dumpster behind the store, the killer quickly crossed the fields again, slipping around the Moss End apartments he dropped into the sewers. Daylight was coming. Jogging south through the sewer tunnels he came across two paladins sitting beneath the grate in River Rock. Obviously they were waiting for someone to come in that way. Just as obviously having no idea of the hellspawn that was steaming towards them from behind. Two massive hands reached out grabbing their necks, and before they could react, slammed their heads together. Once, twice, three times. Finally he felt the shattering of their skulls, the necks long since broken. Frustration was a horrible thing, it was much better to just let your feelings flow out.

Slipping the grate out of the way he left the paladin offal where they lay, and headed out into the breaking dawn moving steadily but quickly towards the leather chair waiting in his office. As the massive killer entered into the gates of Riverwood Market he paused. A quick glance showed him alone, and at an angle where he wasn't on any cams. Slipping a cigarette from the pack in his pocket, he lit it, then reaching up pulled down the Spencer flyer, folding it, then heading to his office. Mordechai took a slow walk around the market, a few of the shops had their opening crews in and working trying to get ready for the coming business day. Nodding to a few that happened to look out as the killer strode by, he aimed to keep a smile on his face. It seemed to be coming harder and harder to maintain an air of innocence, so many were frightened just by his presence. If he really thought about it, it might give him a complex. A passing thought brought a smile to his face, ‘’I wonder if there is a psychologist for vampires holed up somewhere in the city?’’ The tour complete, he opened the doors and entered his shop.

Violet Velasquez, his sales rep was already in getting things settled and ready to open. Natasha Tanner, his head of security, was checking video feeds from the thirteen in-shop cameras. Both knew there was something slightly odd about their boss. Both were extremely loyal, due both to the way he treated them, and the pay they received. The 2 women had been the first he hired, the day he opened the doors, and they had been with him ever since. A quick word with Natasha let her know that he had been in and working all night, so had turned the alarm and cameras off for a bit so she wouldn’t wonder at the blank spots in the time stamps. Watching the sun peak over the stores at the end of the block , he explained ‘’Been up all night getting some orders ready to ship, I will be in my office taking a nap for awhile, use the intercom if you need me. Eva and Felicia should be in soon, I real don't foresee anything you girls can’t handle.’’ With a smile and a wave he pressed his palm to the office lock.

Alone once more, he opened the vault depositing the plastic bag or cartridges, and slipped the flyer into another baggie, before taking off his gloves. Stretched out in his chair Mordechai closed his eyes and slowly drifted off. tonight was going to be a big night.

Post by Prudence »

She woke to the sound of sirens on the television in her room. Pru realized she must have drifted off to sleep and forgot to turn the television off. She squinted her eyes to see what it was she was watching, then realized it was some high speed chase show. She groaned, dug around in the pillows and blankets for the remote, found it and flicked the television off. Her eyes needed a second to adjust to the lighting that she lost once the tv was off, the redhead rubbing at her eyes before she stood up and got out of the bed. She stretched out, working her muscles and motivating them to become limber once again, something she did every night after the daytime sleep. Once she stretched out her arms, and then her legs, Pru headed into the kitchen where only a fridge, counter tops and table could be seen at first glance. She didn’t need a microwave, or a stove, so there wasn’t any need to buy one. Even for pretense sake. She opened up the fridge, grabbed out a bag of blood and tossed it softly on the counter before grabbing a glass from the kitchen cabinets.

From there, Prudence went to the bathroom and began the process of getting ready. She stripped off her tank top, followed by the removal of her short pajama shorts that complimented the tank top, and turned on the water to the shower. Hot, cold, it didn’t matter as the water’s temperature didn’t affect her. She hopped in, showered up, washed her hair and then got out. It had to have been no more than ten minutes for the whole process. She wrapped a towel around her, then headed into the kitchen where she ripped open the bag of blood with her teeth, and poured it in the glass.

With the glass in hand. Prudence moved back to her bedroom where she started to put on the outfit she picked out the night before. The woman would stop occasionally to take a sip of the red substance in the glass, and to buy herself more time avoiding wearing the damn thing. With the “suit” on, she moved to a dresser and grabbed a rubber band and put her hair in a ponytail. The redhead then grabbed her phone off the charger, opened her camera application and found the image of the woman she was going to pretend to be. Prudence focused on the way the woman walked, how she stood and even the way her back hunched just a little from years of either sitting incorrectly at her office chair, or from walking incorrectly. Pru could feel her face start to manipulate, the pulling of skin, the cracking of bone as she focused on the woman’s eye color, the tint of her skin coloring and the thin lines her lips made. When the discomfort ended, Prudence turned the phone to face her, snapped a picture and then looked at it. It was perfect. Outside the slight difference in hair coloring and height, Prudence looked like the woman she was imitating.

The vampire polished off the last of the blood in the glass, moved to the kitchen and put it in the sink after washing it out. She then returned to her room, only to the doorway and put the boots on she picked out. It was then Prudence noticed the gap the suit made, that if she turned the wrong way, or moved too quick, more of her would be revealed than she normally liked. She shrugged her shoulder, which dismissed the thought. She was only going to see Mordie. He wasn’t like that. Besides, she didn’t have anything to put under it that wasn't her clothing. A tank top underneath didn’t exactly scream CEO or secretary even. So, it was what it was.

Prudence swiped the phone off the dresser and shot Mordie a text ”We meeting at your place or? Send me the coords in my head. She stopped dead in her tracks. Did she just offer for him to invade her mind without him asking to? Prudence didn’t have time to think on it, they had things to do. As she headed to the door, the redhead grabbed the keys to her yellow, junker two door car, and headed down the staircase, waiting to hear from Mordie as she progressed on with the night and their plans.

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Mordechai: Mordechai woke, eyes scanning the room before he moved, then standing and cracking his neck. It was the one thing that seemed to bother when he allowed himself to succumb to the ‘daysleep’. Letting his mind wander across the net, he scanned for any news stories on the politicians, and also to see if any of his or Pru’s preparations had been found out and reported. A detailed search turned up negative. Nodding his head once in approval, his phone’s alert sounded somewhere in his subconscious. A quick check of the inbox, and he send his thoughts out over the city homing in on Pru’s mind. I am gathering the supplies, if you have your car, meet me at my office Walking to the vault door, he once more went thru the biometric hoops then entered as the door swung open. he quickly added an addendum If you don’t, text ‘’no’’ and i will take care of it.

Prudence: She sat in her car and waited. No way was she going to drive and then have him blasting thoughts in her head as she was focused on driving. Truth was, Prudence was an ok driver, but she certainly did speed a lot. It wasn’t intentionally, everything just seemed to move slower now, something she noticed when the redhead learned to zip from one side of town to the other, thanks to her killer abilities. So she would have to focus tonight and try not to do that. If she got pulled over, it could jeopardize their entire plan. When the message entered her mind, Prudence clenched her hands on the steering wheel and waited for what he had to say, end. She wouldn’t reply, there was no need to. She had her car, and so no need to text him. He would hopefully take her lack of response as she did have it and she was keeping their texts minimal. Just in case.

She arrived to the other side of town about twenty five minutes or so later and parked her car in the store parking lot, around the back. The redhead observed her surroundings, decided everything appeared normal, then headed in. “Mordie?” Pru called out to him as she headed to his office. She might look different, but her tone remained the same. “You in here?” She inched her head into the office.

Mordechai: Listening to the outer door open, he pulled the SOCOM and the AWM out, then the ammo for the SOCOM. Turning he called from the vault ‘’coming out’’ Pru wasn't the best person to take by surprise. They had often sparred and he knew how fast her reflexes were. Walking out he loaded all of the gear into a large duffle on his desk, the sixteen inch barrel allowed the SOCOM and the broken down AWM fit easily. Looking up Mordechai paused as the strange woman in a business suit entered his office. As his eyes studied her from head to foot he lightly touched her memories. Yep, it was Pru. The tall vampire started to turn but took a quick second glance. Turning back to the vault he retrieved the baggie of ammo, the flyer, shooting mat and the ghillie gear slipping it in duffle next. Zipping it up, he closed the vault, and slung it over his shoulder. ‘’ You might wanna get some sunscreen, those haven’t seen the light of day in quite some time’’ he intoned in a passionless voice as he walked out of the office, dressed in a buttondown shirt and dockers.

Prudence: By those, she could assume he meant her assets, to which Prudence rolled her eyes and gave him a swift punch to his shoulder as he passed her. “Ya gonna be this distracted when it’s go time?.” She stuck her tongue out at him, even though he wouldn’t be able to see it as he had passed her already. “Need a hand or two with something?” Prudence followed after him, the keys in her hand swinging on the keychain and clanking together as she walked. “Looks a little heavy for ya.” The redhead cackled quietly, looking him over. It was weird to see him dressed like that, but then again it was probably just as weird for her to be dressed like this.

Mordechai: A true smile crossed his face. It was good to have a purpose, a goal once more. And it was good to be working at peace with Pru again. He had hated their bickering, but didn’t know how to fix what had caused it. Hell he didn't know what had caused it. The grin stayed on his face as he exited the building. ‘’Pop the trunk’’ He had ignored her little jab, knowing he had deserved it in her eyes.

Prudence: “Dunno. Ya think ya can fit in her?” Prudence looked at the junker, then at him. It was an old 1980’s Chrysler LeBaron with a god awful paint job, and somehow, she wasn’t sure he was going to fit. She opened the trunk anyways, then moved some garbage out of the way, mostly her bookbag for school, some gum wrappers from when she was a human, a few fliers and posters of her carnival days too. All of it got shoved to the far left, so far, it was like she was trying to merge it with the metal of the car’s trunk. “How much time we got until the show?” She pulled out her phone from a suit pocket and looked at the time, to keep track of it.

Mordechai: Mordechai slipped the bag into the newly made space of the trunk as he looked to the sky, about an hour and a half till dark. Answering her question he thought a second, ‘’I would like to be set up in a little over an hour from now. Memorize the clothes, I will meet you there, with a different face. Even changed it will be too small for me in there.’’ Pausing he set a hand lightly on her shoulder, ‘’Good luck’’ In two steps he was astride his Judge, giving it a kick, then rocking it down off the centerstand. Slipping his helmet on the killer waited for her to go first, knowing he would cross the city much faster.

Prudence: The redhead slammed the metal trunk closed once the supplies were tucked away. She waited for his reply, the woman shifting the weight on her feet as she listened. A nod was given to indicate she heard him and could be counted on. Her eyes swept up the length of his frame and took in the details of his clothing. “Aye, aye, Captain.” She gave a playful salute, then headed around the front of the car.

When she was seated inside, Pru took a deep breath in. She had to be especially careful now. Getting pulled over with a trunk filled with guns and equipment for guns would not only end their plans early, but get her in some serious jail time. When she heard him start his bike, Prudence started her engine and headed out to the Gullsborough area. She would do no more than a few over the speed limit, pause for five seconds at stop signs and even use her indicators.

Mordechai: Rolling out behind Pru, Mordechai slowly rolled on the throttle headed for the High Noon Saloon. Pru owned it, and he had a private spot marked out in the lot where he parked the Judge when he came calling. Heading southwest around the QZ the killer finally turned North up though Coastside. He hoped that Pru would be careful and as an afterthought, started monitoring the police frequencies so that if she did get pulled over he could help. Traffic was light, the hour was well after ‘’rush hour’’ and he assumed many were at the rally. Finally pulling in behind the Saloon, Mordechai walked by the cameras in his usual duster and hat, before slipping around a corner and heading off to the abandoned powerplant. A small hop over the fence and he worked his way around back. The usual crackheads and homeless roamed the area, but all were caught up in their own little world. Easily finding a secluded spot along the river, the killer once more looked around, then leaped. He wasn't sure he would ever get used to the feeling that he got when he cleared the river in one leap, but for tonight, it was a necessity. Landing slightly west of Alpha Towers, Mordechai folded his coat and placed his hat with it, hiding them along the river bank, over two blocks from his destination. Scanning the picture of the first Hebigumo employee from his memory, he closed his eyes and concentrated, feeling the ripple as once again he changed.

Prudence: As she got closer to the Gullsborough area, Pru came to learn that some roads were closed due to the Bancroft rally. So she headed to the residential area known as Cedar Court and parked her car on the street there. When she got out of her car, Prudence looked around for any cameras, and as suspected, she didn’t see any. Usually there weren’t in small, quiet, residential areas. The woman moved around the car, popped the trunk and waited as a man walking his dog passed her. He gave her a nod, to which she reciprocated the nod, then went about his business. Once he was gone, the vampire pulled out the large bag out with a slight groan, put it on her shoulder and slammed the trunk closed. As she walked across the lawns of various residential homes, Prudence focused her eyes on various shadows around the properties and beckoned them to her, disappearing in them. Carrying a bag of this size would definitely get people to remember who she was and what car she arrived in. She couldn’t have that.

Avoiding any busy streets with heavy lighting, Prudence opted for the park not far from Alpha Towers. Less traffic of bodies and less lighting was an ideal scenario for traveling. Finally, when she got to the towers without any altercations or distractions, the woman entered the main floor and waited for him.

Mordechai: Walking slowly down the street towards the Towers Mordechai reached out softly to Pru’s mind, looking thru her eyes. Seeing her approaching the main doors, Mordechai picked up his pace and Calmly walked thru the front doors, looking up at the security camera with the smiling face of John, the illustrious hebigumo security guard. Heading towards the elevator bank, he gently whispered ‘’Follow me’’ into his red-headed partner’s mind, then pushed the up button.

Prudence: She nodded her head as he took note of her, the redhead pushing off the wall she had her back on. “Ya know, ya could be a gentleman.” She snorted, rolled her eyes and followed after him, pretending the bag was too heavy for her to carry as the elevator appeared and opened up. It wasn’t of course, it was just an opportunity to give him some ****. “What’s the weather like?” She asked as the door closed a few seconds later as they stood in it. She could look herself, and decided to do so, grabbing her cellphone out of the pockets of the coat, flashing the camera in the elevator corner a wide smile before she scrolled through the weather application on her phone. “It’s not as windy was it was last night.” She commented before stuffing it in her pocket, just as the door pinged open and let on another person who wanted a ride up to another floor. She wouldn’t talk again until the person left, so Prudence stepped backwards and gave the person and her some space.

Mordechai: Lifting the duffle from her shoulder he slid it on his own just as the doors slid open for the newcomer. ‘’The wind is dead out of the west, it will actually help the shot’’ slipped into her mind as he reached over and tapped the button for one floor lower than the newcomers pick. Exiting while the stranger was still on the elevator let their only witness think they were not going higher. Walking casually side by side down the hall towards the stairwell at the end Mordechai wrapped his massive hand gently around Pru’s elbow, talking inanely and chuckling softly as though there were a couple headed for their room. When the elevator doors finally closed he picked up speed, ‘’Stairs the rest of the way, almost better doing it this way as well. There are no sec cams in the stairwells, and the elevator got us up to fifteen, only five more to go’’

Prudence: As he left, she followed after him and when he kept them close, Prudence allowed it. Appearances were everything tonight and if she had to pretend she was going to make kissy faces with Mordie, then so be it. It wasn’t the first time Prudence pretended to do that. For a moment she recalled the night she played that stupid *** Clue game and how everyone believed her and Wolfgang shacked up for the night. “Idiots.” She muttered under her breath. Like she’d touch that. Ha! When he talked and no other steps but their own could be heard, Prudence slowly made distance between them. There was no reason to pretend when no one was around. Again, the woman grabbed her phone, checked the time on it and saw that they were doing find for time. It was put back in her suit coat pocket as they approached the door to the stairs, where Prudence pushed it open, held it for him and then gave him a sly smirk. “Race ya?” She said with a wink, and a laugh.

Mordechai: Mordechai smiled down and shook his head as his long legs started up the stairs two at a time ‘’Slow and steady wins the race….now is not the time to **** up.” His mind on the target and goals ahead of him, he had barely noticed Pru pulling slightly away. There were no witnesses now so it didn't matter. Occasionally when they sparred his mind wandered that way, but this was different, this was business. Reaching the top he opened the last door, the one to the roof, the well used set of picks in his pocket easily popping the Medeco lock, it was waaay easier than the locks he normally dealt with on factories and high sec warehouses.

Re: The shot heard 'round the city [Impact thread]

Post by Prudence »

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Mordechai: Leading the way out on to the roof the tall killer paused to let his partner pass by, then shut the door. wedging a discarded steel mounting bracket against it. His inhuman strength guaranteeing no one would be opening it from the inside. With a nod of his headed, Mordechai started for the Southeast corner of the roof, pausing behind a HVAC unit as he neared the edge, and set down the bag..

Prudence: His retort made her nod and the smirk vanished. He was right and she knew it. They were too close to the end to **** it up now, especially over a stupid racing game up the stairs. While he picked the lock, she looked around the stairway, mostly to keep her mind from wandering from anything that didn’t have to do with this. Waiting wasn’t her strongest suit. With anything. A flaw, perhaps, but she didn’t procrastinate much either. When the door was opened, she slipped by, her hands going to her red hair as she made her ponytail into a quick bun. Her eyes skimmed the rooftop, observing everything on it, just as a cautionary. When there was nothing of interest, Prudence moved to the edge, the one facing the rally, and took in the sight. She let out a small whistle as her eyes fell on countless amounts of heads. “Well ****.” She said, then looked at him. “Ya sure ya got this?” She backed away from the ledge, giving him room to work.

Mordechai: Kneeling, Mordechai slipped on his leather gloves and opened the bag. Pulling out the soft side case, he removed the SOCOM and two magazines. Handing his partner the ghillie suit he nodded at her to put it on as he emptied four stripper clips into each mag. ‘’I know the suit seems ridiculous up here, but it breaks up your outline and hides all heat signature’’ he explained as he handed her the readied rifle and magazines. “If all goes well that will just be a souvenir and you won’t need to use it’’. The killer then slid out the aluminum hard case, and clicked open the clasps with his thumb print. Lifting out the barreled action he fitted it into the Macmillan stock, carefully seating it against the aluminum bedding posts, then tightening the screws. Great advances had been made in detachable rings and scope bases, but Mordechai was old school, and once sighted in never removed the scope. Pulling out the suppressor next he quickly spun it on, then opened the bipod legs, setting the rifle down on the roof. Pulling out the shooters mat he inched to the edge and spread it out so that then end was on top of the small parapet. Taking out the baggie of shells, he carefully thumbed five into the magazine. Slipping the mag in he worked the bolt through its travel, then removed the mag and added the last cartridge. Replaced once more Mordechai slid the AWM out on to the shooting mat, and pulled the ghillie blanket over his shoulders and stretched out prone behind the rifle. ‘’To answer your question…..Yes, I got this.’’

color=#40BF40]Prudence[/color]: When she was handed the Ghillie suit, Prudence just stared at Mordechai. He wasn’t serious was he? Prudence lifted the suit up, gave it a once over and realized that he was serious. Maybe that worked for him, but she could just hide in the shadows. Still, she didn’t say anything and entertained the idea that he had in his head and put the thing over her head, like he did. His reasoning was legit, but they were on the freaking roof and they both could shadow. Well, she thought he could anyways. Then she recalled what he said about heat and shrugged her shoulders. Both of them could ditch the scene if they had to in seconds, but if that was what he wanted to do to ensure they would be safe from whatever and whoever, so be it. She watched him get comfortable in his position then smirked when he repeated back what she said within his answer, then sat crossed legged off to the side of him. She wasn’t going to stand on the roof like a ******* idiot when **** went down, regardless of whose face she wore. This appearance wouldn’t last forever. “Well ya know, if ya need a hand, I’ve got ya covered.” Another smart assed retort from Prudence before her eyes moved off Mordie and to the area where the target would be.

Mordechai: Sliding forward, Mordechai snuggled into position. Reaching forward he lowered the bipod to its lowest position, then cupped his right hand under the tail of the buttstock as his left wrapped gracefully around the pistol grip, forefinger stretched out straight along the trigger guard. The raised cheek piece was nestled into a perfect cheekweld, his eye centered perfectly behind the Leupold. A small sigh escaped the big killer, the caress of the stock against his cheek was like the touch of a long lost lover. Shifting slightly he brought the rally stage into his field of view his left hand reached to the scope, all the control positions buried deep in his memory, as he adjusted the parallax out to the infinity symbol, then dialed the magnification back from 25x, to somewhere between 21x and 22x, taking out the slight blurring he had noticed from over magnification. Clicking on the BORS he began scanning the stage as he waited for its sensors to take in the temperature, barometric pressure, and angle of delineation. The range had already been dialed in once he had triple checked it with the Leica. Mordechai’s heartbeat stopped, no breath passed thru his lungs. His massive body and herculean muscles were locked into an anchor that held the cross hairs steadier than a Ransom Rest could have. The world slowly disappeared from his thoughts and vision until all that was left was the rock steady crosshairs, centered over Wyatt Bancroft's chest. One word slipped from his mind to Prudence’s ‘’Clear?’’

Prudence: While she waited, Prudence ran a gloved hand over her red hair, then yanked a small piece out of it. She held it over the other gloved hand and let it fall, determining the wind speed and direction. Sometimes they changed in a matter of seconds and she thought it important he knew and realized it before he took the shot. And since he was busy and she was stuck waiting around until it was her turn to take care of her end, Prudence thought this was the best way to spend her time. When the hair dropped in her gloved hand from the same direction Mordie claimed earlier in the night, Prudence smiled. So far, so good. The redhead’s gaze returned to Mordechai when his thoughts filtered into her mind, her eyes peering out into the darkness and to the large crowd of rally attendees. From what she could see from here, Prudence didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. People cheering, clapping and bouncing up and down excitedly. Further, and on the stage where Bancroft and his campaign manager was, were a few influential city people sitting on chairs, showing their obvious support for the thralled chess piece, and a few security guards; one on each side of the stage, near staircases that went both up and down. In front of the stage, were removable metal barriers, and more security detail behind those bars, preventing anyone on the ground from getting too close to Bancroft, his manager and any other influential people on stage that night. “Two guards on stage. Both positions fixed. Wind good. Looks good. Take the shot.”

Mordechai: Mordechai’s finger slipped thru the trigger guard, the crosshairs still so steady it was as if the rifle was set in concrete. Watching Bancrofts mouth move, the killer thought how easy it would be to end this now. His finger caressed the trigger, the small click, as the first stage of the two stage trigger was taken up, registered in the back of his mind. The distance was over eleven hundred yards, and it was more the thought of doing it than any conscious movement on the snipers part, that let the cross hairs move the minute bit that brought the crosshairs from Bancroft’s chest, to his campaign manager’s abdomen, and the second minute click was heard a split second before the sonic boom of the shot was heard. Muscles trained by thousands of repetitions took over. Moving like a well oiled machine Mordechai methodically worked the bolt, acquired new targets and fired. The first bullet would take almost four seconds to arrive. By the time it hit two more were in the air. By the time this sound reached the stage, Mordechai was rolling over having seen the first explosion of red bursting from the managers belly. The guards both dropped to the ground as there legs were yanked backward, the impact of the slugs ripping them off the ground. The last three were fired into the backdrop, nowhere near any humans. The shell casings had ejected in an arc, to the left and behind Mordechai. ‘’GO’’ he spoke one word as he started to jam everything into the bag, he had precious few seconds to prepare for the next stage. Everything loaded, he caught up one of the casings covered in ‘’John’s’’ fingerprints and used it to hold down the spencer flyer. Everything set, he grasped the bag tight, made one last survey that all was set, as he wait for the gut wrenching yank of a summoning. The shots replayed in his mind like a film in slow motion, 2 leg wounds, and one in the lower abdomen. In days of old that would have been a slow and painful death. Now, they were but two blocks from a state of the art hospital. He would live, but he would be out of this campaign for months. His genius no longer fueling Bancrofts meteoric rise in the polls.

Prudence: The one word command had Prudence jumping up off the ground from her seated position. The loud gun firing, hadn’t really bothered her, outside of it being louder than normal for her, but there was no need for her to react to it. She trusted his aim was good, he would do what was needed to be done and ya know, not shoot her. So she was up at the direction of the one word command, and started off in a run, building up her speed before her natural, killer abilities kicked in and Prudence was gone in a blink of an eye.

Traveling through Thornside park was but a blur for the redhead, seeing nothing but darkened shades of green, red and orange from leaves on trees that Prudence whipped by as she made her way through the park and to the Honeymead district. Buildings were barely recognizable, outside of their height and the material used to build them. She knew she passed Mortll’s place on the right, then finally the one level gas station. Almost there, she thought to herself, before Prudence focused on slowing down her speed. She didn’t plan on going too far into the wilderness, it wasn’t safe unless they were both in their animal forms, parading around as if they always belonged there. Her speed started to slow when Prudence heard people conversing behind her, and the sound of a train whistle followed not long after she stopped dead in the woods, not far from the lake. Quick hands dug in her pockets, pulled out her cell phone and noted the time. All in all, it took two minutes for her to get here. She counted to three, then pulled Mordie to her, hoping he had put down all the evidence needed to indicate Spenser and the Hebigumo corporation. “Miss me?” She asked with a small smirk as her eyes looked up at where his would be once he was out of that carpet outfit they were both sporting.

Mordechai: As his body reformed he muttered ‘’success’’ in his gravely voice, then shed the ghillie, kneeling on it and breaking down ath Arctic Warfare Magnum for the last time this mission, slotting the pieces into the foam lined case, he reached up to Pru, motioning for her suit and the SOCOM. Once all of the gear was once again in the duffle, the killer summoned a tad of one of his powers and tunneled six feet into the ground. Lowering the bag in, Mordechai quickly refilled the hole, spreading the first fallen leaves of the season across the disturbed soil, then standing, he turned towards Pru as his body shimmered, then reformed into his own familiar hulking frame and long-haired countenance. ‘’Shall we?’’ he asked as he held out an elbow.

Prudence: Prudence understood the necessity of the ghillie suit, or as she come to think of it as a carpet suit, but she couldn’t have been more happier to take the damn thing off. It was probably worse than the suit she was wearing underneath all the carpeting. Once it was off, he took it and got rid of it in a smart and secure way. Or at least Prudence sure thought so. While he was busy burying anything that could implicate them to being anywhere near the towers tonight, Prudence couldn’t have been any happier to shed the appearance of the woman’s whose face she borrowed for the night either. Sure, it was needed, but the job was done and she just didn’t feel right wearing it. Not even when the job went down, but it was a necessary evil. Slowly, her features reappeared, first the shape of her nose, then the roundness of her eyes, followed by the appearance of her high cheek bones once again and finally, the contour of her jawline, not the woman’s face that she borrowed all re-appeared. Just to make sure, her phone was brought up to her face level, turned and another picture snapped. She nodded, approving of how right she looked before the redhead took the offered elbow. “Ya any good at darts?” She asked as they departed the woods together, knowing there were a few dartboards at Grey’s having spent a good few months in there a year or so ago.

Mordechai: ‘’Hmmm darts…. Does that involve accuracy?’’ Mordechai chuckled as they crossed the street, the sec cams on Greys parking lot picking up their smiles, less than 10 minutes after the shootings, confirmation that there was no way the two could have been involved. ‘’Darts it is.’’

Stopping at the bank to deposit the companies daily take, Mordechai looked carefully around before drawing the bags of cash and checks from an inner pocket. Though it sometimes haunted him, there were times when size and intimidation was a bonus. There was never anyone within twenty feet of him when he made his deposits at the atm. Not that anyone would survive a theft attempt, but there was less hassle this way. Tapping in his code he waited till the slot opened, then carefully as was his habit, he slid the bags in, one after the other. Another glance around, and the massive killer turned slowly headed away as the line now quickly filled back in with his absence. As he turned the corner Mordechai stopped suddenly, his eyes riveted to the news box. Absentmindedly he slipped a loonie in and opened the door, eyes locked to the cover has he read.
"Assassination Attempt on Bancroft's Campaign Manager Fails
Two Mystery Suspects in Custody. Police Unwilling to Release More Information."

Six days. It had been six days since Bancroft's manager had been shot, and now finally the human police had put two and two together and came up with four. Suspects in custody. The massive killer slowly turned the corner as he continued to read. He had made it as easy as he could for them. Fingerprints, flyers, security cam pictures, and 3 shots into the back-stand so that CSI techs could locate the shooting site. Well that is if they allowed for the three hundred forty six inch parabolic drop. otherwise it would look like he had been shot from a passing plane. Between them all it must have been enough for them to move in on the Hebigumo employees. Two more of the enemy in jail, guilty or not, didn't matter to him, it was two more fae lovers out of the way. The cops were looking into Hebigumo now. The pressure was on. With a bit of luck the ties to the jorgo would come out, and the weapons sales to the middle east. Those would sign a death warrant to Spencer's campaign, and even though Ontario had no capital punishment, it might spell a death warrant for Spencer as well. The mammoth Sangue would have to think on that.

Sliding the paper into his inner coat pocket, he boarded the transit headed for Swansdale. Slipping out the side door of the transit station, he quickly moved the few short steps NE to the sewer entrance. Dropping in he set out at a steady gate, and almost lupine grace belying his massive bulk. Quickly he passed the entrance to Wickbridge heading further north till he came to stop underneath a man-hole cover in Gullsbourough. Slowly he expanded his senses making sure no humans were nearby, then sliding the cover to the side, Mordechai emerged. Stepping behind the Necropolis, the killer flexed, then shifted into a might harpy eagle launching himself skyward, and out over the unmapped wilderness to the north. A gradual arc westward as he floated on the currents of the air brought him over the lake in Cherrydale. Alter his course he drift down lower and lower, circling...... There. Folding his wings he dropped to the earth flaring at the last moment, to land a seven foot vampyre once again.

Reaching down he slowly moved his palm over the ground carefully displacing the leaves, until he found disturbed earth. Focusing his mind, Mordechai expended very little of his life force as he dug the six feet to his duffel in a matter of seconds. Setting it to the side he filled the hole for the last time. Carefully erasing all evidence of him having been there, the male shouldered the duffel. Flight in had made sure there were no tracks so ingress, squatting he launched himself upwards and southwards, and three super jumps would minimize any sign of egress. Dropping into the sewers near the mausoleum, Mordie headed south west at a steady jog, ignoring the hunters and paladins that stood in his way. It wasn't long till he once again was sitting behind the massive desk at midknight armaments. his beloved AWM tucked safely back in its spot-lit nest within his office vault.

Round and round. Round and round. Slowly the head on the giant male shook. Round and round went his desk chair as he thought on the latest news reports. It seemed once more they were doomed to be puppets. Even worse, puppets of a puppet. With all the evidence against him and his master. The fools had voted him in, in a landslide. The silence was soothing to the killer. all his work had been for naught. but it had has some positive affects. Things had smoothed with Prudence. The mission had gone off without a hitch. He still had the touch. That was good to know. Might be that the next shot...will permanently solve the Bancroft problem. Time would tell. Rising from his chair he wandered the office, then finally went to the door, opening it and leaning against its over-sized frame as his eyes roved his showroom. At least business was brisk. The smart ones knew a war was coming. They were stocking up. Custom jobs and ammo were flying off the shelves. There was going to be an apocalypse, and it had nothing to do with zombies.
