Laura's life was fading. She knew this. Each night the torture became worse.. so much worse before it would get better. The first couple of nights she just laid there hoping for death to come and end it all. She was screaming, convulsing and shaking, but after the sixth night was done, she felt something different.
She was too weak to move. She was too tired to speak. But she was very alert and listening to every little sound she made. Her heartbeat was weak, her breathing was slow and superficial. The thoughts in her mind had changed from defiance to acceptance. She knew Sepsis had taken everything but the last drop of life out of her and she wouldn't survive the following night. There was no way of avoiding it, no way of stopping it. The pain was real. It was intense, but somehow she began to distance herself from it. The mocking words screaming inside her head that had previously fed her paranoia and urged her into committing some pretty heinous things had turned into nothing but a vague echo. It was as if she was focused for the first time in forever. She laid there with her eyes open staring at the ceiling. Sweat dripping from her forehead. Tears pooling up in the inner corners of her eyes blurring her vision.. or what was left of it.
It was that moment where one would make peace with their actions and shortcomings, and kiss their *** goodbye hoping that they wouldn't end up in a bad place, but rather somewhere with halos and harps and such. Some might, but not Laura. She knew she would end up as a vampire. She knew she would be able to do everything she had done before, but better.
Despite of all the pain and suffering this female nursing her had put her through, Laura was ready. She couldn't wait to take her last breath and after that, she would indulge herself and dive head first into this appealing life of hedonism and pleasure. No walls would stop her. No mind would be able to resist her.
Sure there would be certain issues to consider, but she was ready to become a super-being with infinite power. And Lemmy - He would love her.
Small shade of a smile appeared on Laura's lips as she laid there.
