But say I have 8.

then I move number 5. But decide later on, nah number 5 sucks, no one linked to them cares they are gone or w/e, so no thanks. I can't move number 6, 7 or 8 because I moved 5?

Make sense?
NOT THAT I HAVE 8. these are hypothetical scenarios and something people who have more than 5 might ask.
In that case you'd have 6 active, so you'd need to let number 5 in the SR go inactive FIRST, before moving another.

The only time you can have 5 is if one is dead, basically. 6 is never allowed, even for a moment, and 4 is always allowed, even if all are dead.

Oh, okay that answers it more clearly. Thank you
Not that I'm adding more than 5 atm.

Probably, yes. Characters will most likely need to be dead AND in vacay mode to be considered "inactive". But we're not 100% on that yet, so we might make it possible to have 5+ alive, as long as they are in vacay.

Isn't that sort of cheating? technically?
I mean you can only have 4 on the main grid, I thought. Then as many as you want in the sr.

I have a similar question: what is the point of allowing someone to have a character active in the SR? If the idea behind removing the Vacation Mode character's forum privileges is that they're untouchable, doesn't the same go for the SR?

Let's face it... there really aren't consequences if you want to hit someone who is voluntarily staying in the SR. They're already doing far more damage to themselves (no PXP, no businesses, etc) than anyone else could.

Well, for the person having only 1 character in the sr, it's nice to let them move around to work off their dw.
But for those having multiples, you have a fair point.

How do you explain this IC if said SR charries have technokinesis and mind speak? Suddenly they drop silent, for no IC reason at all. Makes no sense.

Similarly, what about old RPs that are taking a long *** time to write. They're dated before the charrie died, but you can't post to them anymore because of the new rule.

Will there be a way to put a charrie into vacation mode voluntarily? Some things you can't plan 3 or 4 days in advance to make sure one drops to vacation before you bring out a replacement.

Wolffyn and Alexandrea were there at the same time as inactive BloodyMary and Aphaythea. Phay gets logged into. (The auto fill in name whateveritscalled tricks me into picking the wrong name sometimes) BloodyMary never. Then I have Alexis, Suzette and Morgan alive atm. Morgan is about to be dead, she was always meant to die. Oh and TestBunny which I am locked out of.

I won't bother listing reasons why, just what I think might be a possible solution. If someone is max'd out and can't or won't delete any character maybe give them x amount of time warning and then start locking them out of either the newest accounts first or the least active?

If they are in the SR then they can only roleplay (in present day) as being in the SR. Which means they also can't do much (if anything) in roleplay against the living. Stopping everyone dead from roleplaying would be too harsh. As you said, they are already doing damage to themselves, so there's no need to also stop them roleplaying.

As for why we don't just say 4, period, well the idea is a middle ground between what we have, and what we want to do, which is to stop people keeping 20 characters alive and roleplaying in the SR, which feels somehow too far.
