Charlie smiled as Zodiac told her about how Ginny had gone and totaled her toy in under a day, she could see that, the cat going to tone on the thing, fabric and fake mouse tail flying all over the place while the little motor's gears ground together because of the strength of the feline. It only gave her a glimpse of what Morpheus would be like in a short time. As it was, she could already began it see how he was. He even knew how to open tops on her cupcake container and some how had managed to find a way into a bag of sweet rolls that she kept for days when she remembered to eat. Now that she was technically dead, she didn't think she could die of eating too many sweets.
She shook herself out of her thoughts as Zo went on to tell her that she could help with the harness and picked up Mini-Ginny to show how she would go about getting it on. Charlie could understand the fact of using a dog harness because dogs were a bit stronger when it came to certain things, of course, she wouldn't say that out loud, she was sure that would cause both kitten and mother to show her just how strong they were. It was something that happened from time to time whenever Rhett mentioned something about dogs being superior to cats, Morpheus would always find a way to pay him back. The last time had been climbing him instead of his castle to get to the top of the large cat condo.
She watched Mini-Ginny flop on her side once the harness was on and laughed a little "Well if Morpheus does that, it's going to be a little hard to walk him unless i put him on a skateboard first." She teased, as she looked between kitten and mother and then back to Zodiac before answering her "And I am a fan of blue, bright blues, light blues, blues that could wake the dead..." She said with a little bit of a laugh as she reached out and gave the kitten a little scratch on the top of her head before letting her eyes go over the harness again, seeing ever detail of it before smiling and going back to scratching the little kitten's head gently.

"Oh yes, we got 'da blues'." she laughed. " Oh 'Junior' there sees no point in doing anything when she has that on, but she does wear one when she travels with me. But Ginny has been following me around under no restraints for...over five years now."
She pulled the few blue colored ones and one other she had and matching leads off the rack and laid them out for Charlie to inspect. "Royal blue, Metallic blue, Neon blue and then this thing." the mystic held up a white harness that had a futuristic design on it with blue designs on it. "The little tubing is filled with some kinda blue glow-stick junk. Hold it under the light for awhile and when you go out in the dark it glows. Kinda makes your cat look like he or she escaped from Tron the movie or something. All of these have the leash link points made into them, not just attached so less chance of them tearing loose under heavy usage. You will find out soon enough how much Morpheus will either accept it or fight it."
Ginny Jr, as if sensing no one was hanging onto the lead, leaps from the counter and charged to where Jennifer was restocking a shelf. She jumped into the box the girl was using to hold the bubble warp she was peeling from the glassware as she unpacked it and began to pounce about and play. "Hey, Doctor Destructo." the girl laughed as she continued along. The cat watched her intently for a few moments, tail twitching, before deciding the bubble wrap was easier prey.
"Kids. What ya gonna do?" Zodiac laughed. "So, if these don't work for you, I think one of the larger pet places have a bigger selection of colors, just make sure you get a quality one if you do go. I don't sell anything like this I don't use personally. I take my children very seriously." She leaned on the counter now and looked at the woman while she decided.

Charlie smiled as she looked from Mini-Ginny to her mother and then back to Zodiac. The woman was actually very nice and that was something that allowed Charlie to relax greatly, she rubbed the kitten's head once more then moved her hands over the many blue harnesses that Zo pulled out for her to see. Charlie let out a little laugh as she saw the one that looked like it came out of the movie Tron and shook her head for a moment. There was no denying that she was a nerd, she loved every type of nerd movie there was, especially if it had to do with computers or hacking or any sort of hi-jinx like that.
Running her finger tips over the harnesses, she picked up one of the metallic ones and felt the fabric both inside and outside before she returned her eyes to Zo who was still explaining about how the harnesses were great for extensive use which would be a good thing if she took the kitten out with her. It was something that she would have to work on because in here place, if one took their cat outside, it would probably freeze or fall into the ocean or something. That was one bad thing about living in a port island. She shook herself out of her thoughts, feeling the pull of knowing that her parents were worried about her and the sadness that created before it could really take hold.
"Well the best I can do is just introduce him to it and see how he takes to it, if he seems to enjoy it I'll have to break myself out of the whole 'cats shouldn't ever be outside' thing." She said with a soft laugh "It's still odd to me. Maybe start with just a walk around my building first." She said with a soft voice, her fingers still rubbing the metallic fabric of the harness she held currently. "I think I'll take..." She was cut off by the sound of the other girl that worked in the store talking and noticed that the kitten was gone. "Boy, they are good at vanishing aren't they?" She said with a laugh and then decided to continue with her first thought.
"I'll take this one and the Tron one. It's just too nerdy for me not to take it. I mean, it practically screams my name." She said with a laugh and pulled out a pair of glasses that she kept in her bag, putting them on. They were the classic black frame but ever since she had been turned she had regular glass put in instead of actual lens, she didn't need them for sight anymore. "See?"

She had to laugh at the 'nerd' comment. "Nerds rule the world, we just let the 'cool' people think they do." Zodiac reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a pair of glasses as well and slipped them on. "I decided to get a pair so that in time I can give the illusion I am getting older. Starting to have problems and such."
She was glad the girl found what she was looking for. Zodiac pulled a bag from under the counter that proclaimed in bright purple letters on a white background SEE WHAT I FOUND IN PANDORA'S BOX along with the address and phone number. She checked the prices and began to work the register.
"And cause you Morpheus' new momma, you qualify for the 'buy one-get one' discount." she explained as she did some creative math and then bagged the items for the girl. She did not have a bag large enough for the tank, sadly.
"Walks in the building is good. As for me, I would just put it on him so he gets used to the idea. I have seen a few cats actually take to leash training, but the odds aren't very good. You don't walk a cat, you take them for a drag." she grinned. "So that notion of a skateboard might not be such a far fetched thing. Can pretend Morpheus has a light-board or something. Of course, you are gonna look silly making sound effects as he rolls along." the gypsy imitated the sound the light cycles made in the movie.
"But seriously, this stuff is all about controlling them more than walking them. Cats are like dogs in one major respect. You think something is important, but it does not match what they think is. Wait till Morph starts staring at things and you can't figure out what they looking at, or get in a rough and tumble with something you can't see and loose. You may get him to walk on the leash and try to turn right, but he will want to go left. Why? you won't know. You will look and see nothing but he will be acting like it is a matter of epic levels to get whatever it is that caught his attention. Motherhood. ya gotta love it."

Charlie gave a soft laugh, nodding in agreement to Zo about the nerds letting the 'cool' people think they were in control when really it was the nerds like herself that ran the world in truth. She smirked at that for a moment before bringing her attention once more to Zodiac as she pulled out glasses as well. "Getting older? What are you? 20?" She said with a playful tone to her voice, the woman looked far too young to be worrying about looking 'older'. In her case, she still sort of saw her glasses as a safety blanket, it was something from her old life as a human and didn't feel right without them ninety percent of the time.
She smiled a bit more as the bag was brought out, the bright purple font clearly something to draw the eye, of course, with her, drawing the eye was usually not a problem. One reason why she always had her glasses on, with glasses, it would be hard to believe she was a vampire. Yes, she was pale, but it was Canada, plus she had originally been from Maine, people were pale there. Still, she attracted people, so she had to be careful at times, though recently she had been more or less coped up in her apartment hacking while Tempy did all the heavy lifting so to speak.
Again her attention was brought front and center as Zodiac gave her first a discount for being Morpheus' mama and then went on to give her advice about getting him used to the idea of the harness and the leash. In truth, she agreed with what the woman had to tell her, she probably would never actually try to pull Morpheus in any direction, she saw it more as just keeping him from doing something stupid like jumping off the wrong thing or running into the street or getting in trouble if he got spooked. But the idea of the light-board and the making the sound effects for it made her laugh lightly once again and she nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm sure I would... so I would probably just put the sounds on my phone then let it play that way." She said with another small laugh.
"I'm loving it so far, my roommate on the other hand, he swears he's aged 10 years since I got the 'wicked ball of fluff'." She said, making the air quotes with her fingers and then reached into her bag to grab her wallet, pulling out the debit card so that she could pay for the things she was getting, holding it out for Zodiac to take and run.

"Yeah, early 20's about right." she replied as Charlie offered her the debit card. "I am not taking in the now with this at all. I just wear these when I am alone to get used to the idea of them. Unlike most of our kind, I run basically a long term business. Jennifer has been with me for nearly 5 years now. Two of those years I was alive, past that as I am now. In the fortune telling business you make long term customers who trust you. Not all my clients are vampires, in fact its the opposite. For every vamp who wants their cards read I have ten or more humans asking for the same. Sooner or later, as time goes on as in years, my long term clients among the living will begin to notice they are aging and I am not. Glasses will help for a start. Will have to get myself a more flamboyant pair I suppose. Purple frames, gold kitties on the hinges and the chain." she went through the hand motions of putting them on and off.
She accepted the girls card and began to tap it against the glass counter as Charlie described her roommate's views on the cat. "Well, what do you expect? He's male." she laughed in reply at first. "Kittens and puppies get various reactions from people. If Morpheus likes your roommate, then he is trying to get his attentions and sometimes people feel like they are dealing with a child. Needy, destructive, always into something they should not be, so the experience becomes more of someone trying to keep a kid out of trouble rather than enjoying a kitten. Can be stressful to some, I imagine." she shrugged. "Yes, when I had Morph and the others, it was one big play house in action once they got mobile, but that's part of the fun of having them around. Your friend needs to learn how to relax. I got some home made Valium I can sell you to help with that." Zodiac pointed to a display filled with various shapes and sizes of bottles filled with different colored liquids. "Three drops in their coffee and they won't notice much of anything. Those in the showcase are just display items to show the pricing and such. I keep the real stuff locked in the back."
She took the card and swiped it through the scanner, then turned the key pad for Charlie to enter her PIN then finished. She handed her the receipt and the card back once all had cleared. "And thank you for shopping at Pandora's." she smiled. "Anything else you are searching for this night, or you wanna just hang out?"

Charlie nodded as Zodiac explained about her clients and how she was getting used to the idea of wearing the glasses so that she could pass off the idea of aging to the humans. It made sense and who was Charlie to try to sell her on anything different, but at the same time Zodiac was so young, as young as her. She smiled a bit as she absentmindedly ran her hand along the tank, feeling the texture of the cardboard that the little vehicle was made of. She smiled a bit as she talked about getting more flamboyant frames and nodded "With your love of cats, you should probably look into getting the cat eye frames. They would be vintage now." She said with a light laugh "Being that they were so popular in the 60's." She tacked on before once again falling silent.
A soft smile stay on her face as Zodiac gave her her thoughts on the things that were happening between Rhett and Morpheus. And she was sure that the kitten liked him as much as her, as much as he loved to lay on or near him. Rhett did need to take a chill pill some of the time, but she had a feeling that he was either raised around dogs, or not raised with animals at all. Probably more the latter, given the way he was the first few days, but she could see that he was getting used to him, even having a bit of fun with him with a laser pointer, sending little Morpheus this way and that, nearly climbing the walls and anything else he could to reach that red dot of doom. She was still thinking about the trouble that Rhett and Morph could get into with that little toy as she typed in her pin and then relaxed back a bit.
As she took back her card and the receipt, sticking both into her wallet at the same time she smiled and arched a brow, "Hang out? Aren't you working?" She asked with a teasing tone before she continued on "I'm sure Rhett was just one of those poor deprived children that were not raised with pets, and I also think Morpheus knows that he is pushing my roommate's buttons. It's like that alone is amusement that only the red dot of doom can beat." She said with a laugh, easing the bag off the counter and then glancing to the bottles for a moment before glancing back to Zodiac "I may still need to be back for that potion of yours if Rhett has a mental breakdown. But there is one thing i am a little curious about. you said you tell fortunes, how does that work? I've never actually had one or seen someone who has had one."

"Vintage?" she laughed. "Girl, take a good look at the whole ensemble here. I'm so vintage I am practically groundbreaking." She spun around in place. When Charlie made a comment about working, Zodiac pulled the glasses back from her pocket and slipped them on and made a grand showing of searching about the shop. Looking behind counters, in the trash can and other odd places. Ginny Jr., seeing the woman in motion, began to follow her about.
"Well, maybe I need real ones of these because I don't see the customers banging down the door that you are seeing, kiddo." She walked back to the main counter after taking stock of a few shelves mentally. "I was just saying if you had more to talk about you was welcome to stay is all."
Charlie's idea of why her room mate might be so stressed over the kitten made sense. "How I grew up, we always had animals around. Mainly dogs. Ginny basically 'grew up' on the road with me, so trust me your boy has it easy dealing with things now. Slip into a barn in the middle of the night just to get some sleep without being rained on, wake up early so can leave as quietly and no harm done, and discover Miss Thing here is causing the chickens to scream blue murder as she is chasing them around the yard and the owners are coming out with guns thinking something is killing their stock? Not fun to sign you way out of such situations, trust me."
"And the red dot doesn't work with her. Ginny figured out how to catch it. Last time I had her going full tilt with it she lost sight of it, turned and looked at me and then POW. Jumped up and scratched my hand, laser pointer hit the floor, she pounced on it, carried it off and I have not found it since." The large black cat just sat like a small Spynix with its eyes closed, as if looking rather smug about everything. "Drives Junior crazy though."
"She don't need no help being crazy!" Jennifer added as she was trying to free the last bit of bubble wrap from the kitten's death grip so she could throw it in the box with the rest for disposal.
"No, she don't." Zodiac pulled a small ball from her dress pocket and shook it, causing the small bell inside to jingle. The kitten snapped its head around and saw it. Zodiac gave it a flip into the air and the miniature panther took off running to pounce upon it. "Now you can finish I think."
She then looked at Charlie as if she had grown a second head. Very seldom did she get the totally clueless type to come visit her like this, let alone be honest about it. "There are many kinds of fortune telling. I specialize in using the tarot myself." she leaned on the counter top and looked her directly in the eyes. "How it works is deceptively simple. I have you shuffle the deck while you concentrate on what you wish to know. Nothing else. After a process when we are sure the cards have picked up your 'vibe' or aura, I begin to lay them out in a pattern, or spread. Each spot in a spread represents an aspect of you. Past, present, future, hopes, fears, and so on. As the spread grows, so does the insight into you and how things may turn out. That's the simple part. The part that trips most people up." she motioned for her guest to follow her to a display case where she kept decks for sale and pointed to an advertisement that showed the designs on the face of a new deck that had recently arrived.
"What do the pictures mean is the most common question. The images are clues, hints, and depending on where they fall in the spread, it is up to me to discern the clues and figure out what it is trying to tell me about you. There is a lot of questions involved in the process, of course. Now you could sit at home with a do-it-yourself book that gives the basics and try it. No crime in that at all. But sometimes a card will not make sense that way. I have had some spreads for people where the card meant one thing, but the actual image on it suggested something else depending where it landed. Discernment and insight work in this as much as knowing what they mean, perhaps more."
She continued now. She was totally in her element. "Nothing is face value unless you know what you are looking for. A quick example is the Death card in most decks. 'Does this mean I am going to die?'." she rolled her eyes. "If I had a dollar for every time I was asked that I would not need to be working now. The card in itself means Change. The end of one thing and the beginning of something else. Only one time in..." Zodiac paused as she considered. "I don't think I can say how many times I have ever done such spreads in my life, but once the Death card did mean what it said it was. Two days later I read in the paper the person has been in an accident and died. But, that was also change was it not? The end of this life and the start of whatever waits beyond for us?"

Charlie let out another soft laugh at the woman as she told her to look at her, that she was vintage. Charlie did take a good look at the woman before her, and though they were probably about the same age physically, Zodiac was clearly older mentally as well as within their world. Yet, to Charlie, as she looked at Zodiac, didn't see her as 'vintage' per-say. The word that came to her mind first was hippy, but then who was she to judge who was a hippy because she saw herself as a hippy, a hippy of the joint kind, but a hippy none the less.
She was pulled out of her thoughts as Zodiac joked about the lack of customers then went on to tell her that she was inviting her to stay. Charlie smiled and nodded to Zodiac, the woman was interesting to say the least, the things she knew, the way she was. And Charlie was finding herself relaxing more and more, as they talked about the kittens and Ginny, the red dot of doom. Yes, Charlie still remembered the woman before her attacking her with that group, but Zo hadn't even attempted to be mean or rude in any way, so Charlie was always willing to give people that deserved it a second chance, even if she had the image so clearly printed in her mind.
Charlie pulled herself out of the past, there really was no reason to even think back to it, but that was the problem with photographic memory, The sound of the bell inside the ball made the past vanish and she smiled a bit as she watched the cat go for it as if it were filled with catnip. It made Charlie smile for a bit more, watching the kitten jump and run and play, it made it easy to switch her attention back to the woman before her as she leaned against the counter and then motioned for her to follow and follow she did, listening to everything that Zo told her about the cards, the layout, how each picture meant something different.
The idea of the death card actually meaning death, or rather not death but an ending. She nodded at points, not wanting interrupt what she was saying and waiting for a good time to jump in. She glanced around for a moment until the woman fell silent and then Charlie smiled, to the woman "How much is it for a reading?"

"How much? You can't afford me," she smiled like a shark now, fangs showing briefly, then laughed. The mystic slid a pricing guide into Charlie's hands for her to inspect. "It all depends on what you want and how we go about doing it. There are various ways to achieved this and all require different ways of doing it, hence the pricing guide."
The door chime drew her attention now. Quickly she patted Charlie's hand before excusing herself. "Simple is best to start with," she suggested before stepping away to greet the older woman with her arms spread wide and a smile. Now she was back to sign language and apparently the woman understood the gestures as she handed the mystic a list of items she needed. Zodiac walked with her as they 'chatted' away while suggesting items that could be of service to the woman's own spell works. Eventually, the pair made their way to the counter and the gypsy excused herself while retreating into the back, only to return with a few items already in a bag. She waited until the woman inspected the contents and said it was perfect and then rang up the items. A few more 'words' between them as she escorted the woman to the door. Once the woman left, she turned her attentions back to her guest.
"So, what do you think?" her thoughts found Charlie's again. "Wanna reserve a time and see what the spirits can tell a science type like yourself? I find doing these things for 'rational' people fun. Logic and reason cannot explain why the cards work as they do." She returned to the girl's side. "The looks I have gotten when the cards give me clues and that 'there is no logical way you can know that' shadow falls on their faces. Priceless!"
