With these additions, would we be possibly getting a free restat? Or is that out of the question till the end of beta?

There's one more at the end of beta, and they are also still available for in-game money.

On the positive side, guns and swords are going to have roughly 1500-4000 possible design combinations from the get-go, and more like 25,000 combinations once you can alter the skins. So that's a total of about 50,000 possible weapon designs. More, if you count the engraved enchantment runes that enchanting a weapon places on the blade of the sword / stock of the gun. This, in combination with naming every weapon you assemble, will allow for some very cool customisation.

Yes, I'm excited about this.

Already forged? No. Existing custom weapons will be randomly given images based on their basic types.

Forged in future? Maybe. And only kind of. The forge would have a very basic set of possible designs it can produce in order to make manually created weapons more desirable, and to make players search around for parts or guns (you can break down guns to extract parts) with interesting designs. Such as a lion pommel hilt. ;)

You won't be able to mix firearms with melee parts, no. But I might make augmentations (can't think of the right word) to let people add mod parts to their weapons, eventually.

By the way, the total number of guns available from the launch of this system will be 35,937. You'll start to see some of your weapons show images today. The ones you picked up that spawned randomly (Modified Rifle, etc) will have random images. You won't be able to break them down or craft today, but soon.

You can click on the images which shows you the zoomed in version of each weapon.

The reason the thumbnail is smaller for the randomly generated / crafted weapons is because it can be really small or really long, depending on which parts you use, so the thumbnail has to be zoomed out more.

Will you be able to break down swords into blades, hilts, crossguards, etc in a similar way to you've described being able to break down guns?
Habren's. Then. Now. Always.
