I certainly hope they do. Considering the rareness factor in their appearances and the bit of going for half a million each on the auction, it will be ages before anyone has enough of them to accomplish anything of merit-especially if it follows the logic of once used, it is gone from your inventory. The damn things best sing, dance and bring me breakfast for all that effort and cash, ya know?Reganleif wrote:PXP Orbs used to be distributed as 1 on the world map and 3 in the SR, not sure if that has changed or not, though. I haven't found one on the world map in a loooooooooooooong time, but, I don't wander about with Regan nowadays as much as I used to, Sleipnir can't see the orbs and he does the wanders.
The Fae shards are incredibly rare, it seems. I got one off a Paladin, but that's it.
Will the shards be more common in the future ?
1 million? That would be almost reasonable if the shard was like a relic, but if a shard is a like a one use item- use once *poof!* gone (and hey, let's up it even more. If you fail in the attempt you loose the shard anyways) the 'Master Vamp' population of this place will fit in a match box with room to spare.Mooncalf wrote:Yes, most will be more common.
The ones which unlock the mastery paths will be just as rare, if not more so. They'll auto-auction for 1 million, though, so start saving, lol.
To unlock all mastery powers (the mastery path itself), not just one I mean.Zodiac wrote: 1 million? Don't expect a stampede on that update when it finally happens.
After a year, you wouldn't have most of the powers in the game. Besides, it's called "mastery" for a reason.Mkvenner wrote: At which point the question becomes: Which is more likely; that a vampire would be able to gain most of the powers available in the game before being able to master their starting path, or the reverse?
Mkvenner wrote:Carrying on from Zodiac's point, a million bucks is fairly unobtainable unless you've got years under your character's belt. Which is great for those that have been here since the pre-beta, but for the rest of us it's not so great. I get that they're supposed to be rare, and that makes sense given their nature and what it is they will do once introduced, but rare and prohibitively expensive is not a good mix for, from your numbers, way more than 90% of the characters in the game.
As to your point, money is rather important already for those of us that haven't been here for years, given the insane skewing of the game's economy and the high cost of basically every important item you need. Which isn't a complaint - relics should be expensive. But making money is nowhere near as easy as people seem to like to make out. I have a character that's been here since October, has been trying to make as much as she can in that time in order to buy important relics... and hasn't broken 100k. Extrapolating up, it would take roughly four years for her to make the million she'd need to afford to buy a thing to unlock her mastery powers, call it three if she can make increasing amounts as she levels. And that's if she decides to buy nothing in the meantime, which is frankly unrealistic given the need for improved weaponry, ammunition and the way she still hasn't got any relics. In that time, she would have gained the best part one and a half thousand PXP, which would see her a fair distance round the path wheel, I think it's fair to say.
At which point the question becomes: Which is more likely; that a vampire would be able to gain most of the powers available in the game before being able to master their starting path, or the reverse?
