well, being mean doesn't have to be ooc. A player might not be mean ooc but they might write a character who is.

It is a game mechanic I'm afraid, as everyone has said here -- theres not much that can be done, apart from hiring a security role, and a clerical role to help prevent this.
If you feel this is OOC driven. (I highly doubt it is) I'm sure you can PM a mod, or a developer and they can look into it for you. Just to put your mind at ease.

Re: Buisness getting hacked constantly
and if you ever find out who is doing it, you can just return the favor. I personally only hack NPC businesses, but I did have Lyana hack a few PC businesses when Tyt killed her. She did it out of spite. But once she got over it, I made her go back to NPC businesses. I was also thinking about starting a hacking group to go along the lines of this. Cause most hacking is anon if you are really good at it. But my question is, do multiple viruses stack? Or is the business only affected by one virus per day? Like if I and 10 other people hacked a PC business would each virus hinder that person's business or just the first one and all others were redundant?

I may be wrong, but from what I have heard I do think they stack.

Should also point out that you don't need to plant a virus to get the exp, pacify works too. Yeah this was brought up in a bug thread before, can't use both either.
I just type in random **** like ghyjnbvcghjk works just fine.

Re: Buisness getting hacked constantly
There should be a limitation, like new players that can't be attacked until a certain level, businesses should be unhackable for a certain length of time. At least let them get established, because if not, they will never get moving, never make money, and we can't just get rid of the business. It turns the business into a horrid money drain, one that will never be able to overcome, especially with new players/characters. Until the only recourse is to quit and start over, (if you are lucky)
Also, to whoever is doing this to new players... Stop being a dick, seriously. There is no reason to do this except for spite. You can hack into anything. I have even hacked into Angelina Jolie's panties. So it's not like you HAVE to hack players to get your amazing, level ripping 20 exp.
Also, I thought that hacking a business and planting a virus was considered an attack, (you hack any business and get caught it is sure treated like one) and that according to the rules, continuous, unprovoked attacks on the same person by the same people, was against said rules. It might not be a stat drain, but it is sure game destructive to be hemorrhaging money, maybe not for us who have been here forever, but new players, if they can't keep up with the cost of bullets, blood, weapons, crafting supplies, relics, ect then not only will their bank be effected, but their ability to level and thus progress will be retarded also.

Re: Buisness getting hacked constantly
Game wise - it's not an attack.
IC wise - it's not an attack unless your charrie chooses to take it that way. Some charries are going to be dicks, that's all there is to it.
First person you hire to your business should be a high level clerical, then take it from there. And the more you put levels into business, the more you can hire and sort out.
Businesses are no different to the rest of the game. You piss someone off, you're going to have to pay for it somehow. If they choose to do it via hacking the business, then that's their perogative. And anyone who's ever played a game like this is out of newbie protection within a week. So, imo, it's a bit redundant and needs a bit of an overhaul in itself.

Re: Buisness getting hacked constantly
You can just get rid of the business per the update. You can delete it.
I wouldn't recommend new players go into business because of the start up costs.
Hacking businesses is only effective when the business is new or unless you have multiple people hacking it successfully on a daily for an extended period of time. It sucks for him that his char managed to piss off a hacker. I wouldn'tgo Iinsulting people OOC about it. Madison would run a business into the ground of a new player if that person's character had wronged her.
