--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Doc: The cell phone beeped quietly as it registered a text. Doc glanced at it briefly, thinking it to be from Cat. However, the number was unrecognized and so he gave a more thorough inspection. The number unknown, the message however, had a distinct familiar feel to it. His lips pressed into a grim line. Instead of sending a text reply he called the number. It should have been over. She should have gone. He sighed, as the phone connected and it started to ring.
Dominique: A press of her thumb to the vibrating cell told her it was a message received. The screen glowed with the familiar number. She began moving because now his mind would be working faster than hers could. She knew her limits and he pretty much had shown them to her. "Big or small? Simple or explosive?" She said slowly as her body moved faster to exit the house. She didn't want to sound breathless.
Doc: When he had shot Cat that night in the lab, it had become clear to him that he had let things escalate to a point of unrealistic resolve. Things were spiraling out of his control, the rages and the blackouts were getting worse. And the one thing he knew to do to regain that control, was let it go. To just be done. No conclusion, no farewell. Just have it be over. He had purposely not returned to the lab, that night. He presumed she leave. Apparently she wasn’t that bright. “You disappoint me Minx. You should have taken the head start..”
Dominique: "I did. I took all that had happened and I took what was laying there for me to find and decided as I held it in my hands it was time. I am going to teach you that you cannot **** with and toy with whatever is not doing what you want because you have a whim. You don't belong here anymore than I do. I want to show you something." She was moving faster now across the snow covered lawn anxious enough she doesn't realize the snow that is falling into her boots and sticking to her warm skin.
Doc: This time when he found her, he would end it. End for it good. Those brown doe eyes that were burned into his memory from the night at the dinner would die an ignoble and tawdry death. He would put a bullet between those lovely beseeching eyes. And **** it, if he broke his promise about letting her go. It wouldn’t be his first broken promise and it certainly wouldn’t be his last. He was going to enjoy this. That’s what had been missing these many months. The joy in the kill. It had become rote and routine. It hadn’t been a chore, it had just been lacking that certain little thrill. Yet he could tell the thrill was beginning to bubble up as he envisioned her dead, lifeless body in huddled pile that could be mistaken for trash and waste. “You just do not understand. You had a chance .. and you fucked it up.”
Dominique: "Who the hell do you think you are? God hasn't resigned. He is full of surprises too. Please check this out and let me know if it looks familiar. Sending it now. While you wait for it to arrive. Have a seat. It will literally blow your socks a mile high." She made a quick video of his house while she stood in the street. She had little time to waste so she sent it and then began walking faster towards the exit of the division he was current owner in. "Check that out. Look familiar? Anything of value in there you hold dear, Precious?" She pulled out a wireless detonator with free hand.
Doc: Doc’s lips curved into a knowing smirk. The thrill was back. **** promises of mercy and forgiveness. It was obvious to him now, that ‘promise’ was the cruxt of his rages. The parable of the scorpion and the toad, never rang more true than in this precise moment. The promise was against his nature. And by trying to fulfill that promise, everything else disintegrated around him. It was time to go back to nature. He sighed in a long suffering manner as she preached the words of her god at him. He reverted to silence, as he typically did when dealing with prey. He received the feed she was sending, on his phone. His jaw clenched and his eyes narrowed as he recognized his house being the subject of the beamed feed.
Dominique: "Yeah. I thought so." His silence fed a disturbing part of her that has surfaced over the last several months. Was this what he felt? Satisfaction at ******* someone over and sticking them where it hurt when they could not do anything about it happening? If it was then no wonder he was always trying to get more. She felt it. A small amount and now she was going to feel it climax to a victorious finish. A smile formed as she panned the camera on her then to the house. Share this moment with me. Here is a to a New Year. Better than being in Times Square when the ball drops. Three...Two...." Her heart rate increased. She should be terrified but she didn't care anymore. The rush had reached that point it would over ride her sense. Her thumb was on the switch and it was one word away. "One!" She hit the switch and a sudden and loud hiss then explosion occurred where the house was. "Surprise! Hope you felt that. Never **** with me again." She threw the phone towards the pieces of debris landing and ran like hell.
Doc: Minx was well acquainted with traps and bombs, he had been in her apartment. The reason he was able to get her on a psychiatric hold was due to the numerous bombs in her apartment. He knew what she was going to do the minute he saw his house. He could hear the giddy excitement in her voice. Pity it was going to be the last excitement she ever felt. He watched as his home was torn apart by the blast, and then the view was tumbling through the air, and he saw pavement. He disconnected the call. He felt calm and at ease. He needed to head to the lab.
Dominique: Her mind was flying just as fast as her feet were. Flight or fight? She was prepared to both. the sounds of the playlist in her apartment rolled through her head as she reached that beautiful rhythm every true runner depended on to carry them for the long haul. Her panting breath was leaving clouds of mist behind her in the cold air as she picked up her speed. Her mind screamed out the words to the song she put countless traps together singing. the back pack started whipping back and forth and she wiggled her arms out of it and pulled it off. Next was her scarf. She needed nothing holding her back. She had to make it to her only safe refuge before it was too late.
Doc: Doc entered the lab, he grabbed his medical bag, and headed to the refrigerator. Collecting two IV bags of blood, he placed them in the bag along with the needles and clamps. Shedding his suit jacket, he hung it carefully on the empty hanger. The hanger was there, for just such occasions. Occasions where darkness and stealth would be the name of the game. He opened the cabinet that held his ‘kit’. He stripped out of his remaining clothes and donned the black jeans, tee shirt and hoodie. He needed to be able to blend and fade easily. Even if he used shadows, they weren’t always perfect, especially if he had to use a power. She was going to fight and he knew it. He would have to subdue her quickly, and that meant powers most likely. He checked his bag one last time, making sure he had all the accoutrements he would need. He looked up and over at the specimen jar. He smirked as he grabbed the green rosary that lay next to it. Exiting, he headed for West Towers.
Dominique: She was feeling something already pulling at her. It was tugging and dragging at her performance. Slow deep breathes in had the cold air moving and exciting in clouds left behind as her stride grew longer and faster. Her arms pulled and tore at the bright pink parka that was holding her back. She tossed it behind her not breaking her stride. West Tower lobby entrance was in sight. She tore across the street with the sounds of I Stand Alone by Godsmack pounding in her head. Her inked arms pumped faster. She hopped over a hydrant like a world class hurdler would going for the finish. She was close. So close. the doors were opening. A short round woman was exiting with her dog. Yes. That is how it was supposed to be. The doors opened more. Inside she was good as gold. He would lose his *** coming after her. She started slowing down now that she was in front of the open doors. No one in her way.
Doc: The night was unusually quiet. It could have been because it was New Years eve.. and everyone was a party.. or they were all at the scene of a house explosion. He smirked as he pictured the news media handling that case. He may need to give Wendell a call and see he could work his magic and make it appear to be all due to a faulty Christmas tree. The irony. He grinned to himself. Doc was able to make it to West Towers in no time, thanks to the portals that were strategically placed about the city. What would be a twenty minute journey for Minx, was a two minute hop for him. He melted into the shadows at the entrance of the apartment building. He couldn’t let her get inside. He would have to strike and strike quick. He already knew where he would take her, but he had to get her first. The front doors opened, a woman and her dog were going for their nightly walk. And as his gaze followed their exit into the dark, he saw Minx. She was making a beeline for the door. Doc pushed off the wall launching himself at her. His right hand going for and then closing about her throat. One quick head slam on the pavement and he would be on to part two of his plan.
Dominique: She bolted to the space of the open doors like the world was on fire behind her. A rush of air in the empty space around her and she felt the sudden clench and painful grip around her neck denying her another breath in she needed. Her hands went to what held her around the neck and she knew it was him. She couldn’t see him but her heart beat in a frantic rate with awareness. "Let go!" She gasped and lost more of the precious air she needed.
Doc: The thing about being a serial killer, you find all these really nice secluded hole in the walls that are set up perfectly to let you know someone is on their way in, along with a dozen viable exits. A victim could scream and the sound would reverberate off the twists and turns and sound like it is coming from somewhere else entirely. That is.. if you let them scream. And Doc wasn’t feeling disposed to hear Minx -anymore-. In his mind she was already dead. So at Minx strangled utterance for release left her mouth, he easily used the forward momentum of his launch to slam her head into the concrete sidewalk. He was rewarded with a wet sucking sound.. much like the sound a melon makes when it is splattered on the pavement. He picked her up like she was nothing but a sack of dirty laundry and flung her over his shoulder and melted into the shadows once more.
Doc: The abandoned warehouse had an upstairs that was perfect for his needs. Lots of little rooms and hallways that led everywhere and no where. Falling out of shadows he dropped the body on to the dirty floor unceremoniously. He kicked it with his foot to maneuver it into the position he needed. He opened the medical bag and withdrew a bowie knife. He let his gaze follow the honed edge of the blade. He had never killed with a bowie knife before. Tonight would be a first. He squatted by the body, and slapped it’s face. “Hey… Wake up,..”
Dominique: She felt a burn to her face and the unusual sound of skin being slapped followed in her foggy brain. Her eyes fluttered open and she blinked fast. She saw him and immediately balled up her fingers tight to send HOPE straight lining towards his face. "No!" She screamed.
Doc: Doc looked at it’s eyes, they were no longer the soulful doe eyes from his memory, they were just soon to be dead dull scared eyes. He smiled coldly. It had a concussion, not that it mattered, it would be dead long before it ever mattered. It wasn't even a person to him anymore. He easily swatted it's hand away, as he dispassionately plunged the bowie knife deep into it's chest. If he accurate, he severed the aortic artery, and time was short. If he missed, and nicked the heart itself, time was short, he grinned down at it, “Pray with me Minx..”
The smile cold and cruel “Let -us- pray to your god for your deliverance..” He leaned forward and whispered into it's ear, “I learned this just for ...you…”
“Deliver me, O Lord, as Thou didst deliver Noah from the flood.”
He pulled out a scalpel out of the medical bag and showed it to it, as he continued to recite,
“Deliver me, O Lord, as Thou didst deliver Lot from Sodom and the flames of fire.”
He sliced it's neck open just below the throat, above the sternum.
“Deliver me, O Lord, as Thou didst deliver Moses from the law of Pharaoh, King of Egypt.”
Withdrawing IV tubing from the bag, he connected it to an IV bag of blood.
“Deliver me, O Lord, as Thou didst deliver Daniel from the lion’s den.”
He watched as it’s skin took on the pallor of blood loss.
“Deliver me, O Lord, from all dangers of Hell and all pains and tribulations.” He paused dramatically, “Amen.” His final word, mimicking the epitome of a most earnest prayer.
Doc looked around, looking into each dark corner, from his haunched position beside it, “You’re still here.. He didn’t come. How sad for you.”
He pulled the green rosary from his medical bag making sure it see the rosary, as he looped it through the hole in IV blood bag and hung it up. “Any last words.. ?” he shrugged, “Anything.. ? No?” He fed the other end of the IV tubing down the slit he cut into it's throat.
Dominique: Bright shimmering crimson ribbons rolled down from the red pools of blood that were forming in her ears. Her nose was another source for what was leaving and no longer would be hers. Her glazed eyes with the uneven pupils rolled slowly looking over the space over her. There was no source for hope to save her now. this was different and there was no stopping him now. She heard his voice saying "I was looking for my cat. the chili isn't that bad. Leave now." So much pain before and now it was fading. Peace was coming finally. Her words formed with lips as the sound of her voice was taken from her. "Forgive me Father for I have sinned...." His face clarified above her then swirled into a blur.
Doc: As her head lolled to the side, Doc began squeezing the IV bag, pumping the liquid from the IV into the tube that was fed directly into her stomach. He pumped it until it was empty, then he hung a fresh bag. He pumped that one until it was empty. Once empty, he began cleaning up. The IV dismantled and tucked carefully back into the medical bag. Bowie knife cleaned, sheathed and put away. Only one thing remained. Donning a surgical glove, he dipped his fingers in the slick of blood that was covering the floor. And he wrote on the wall, where it would see it, first thing. “I win”.
He then exited.
