Re: Noob with questions
Hi there! Firstly, welcome to Path of the Vampire! :)
If you haven't read the wiki yet, it's a great place to get started but there's a lot there so most people don't get through it all the first time they read it... I like to suggest taking it in small doses, a little every day maybe.
You don't have to wait until you level up to start to roleplay!
You can start anytime and having a solo thread on the stories and journals board (http://www.mooncalfstudios.com/pathofth ... m.php?f=17) is a great way to get your feet wet and start establishing a back history for your character! We have a role play planning board too (http://www.mooncalfstudios.com/pathofth ... m.php?f=98), if you want to try to get together with other roleplayers and plot.
That said, I don't recommend rushing to level up if you are in the tutorial... if you haven't finished the checklist yet, take your time... each task when completed rewards you with enough energy to do some serious grinding with so don't waste it by rushing through the list.

Does my face claim have me be a real person?

I don't want to be a faceless thing. Think Joel from Last of us. Joel Miller such a sexy man.

Re: Noob with questions
idk last of us but I just meant you can use whatever image you like so long as it's pg13. You could even draw something yourself. It doesn't have to be a photograph anymore than it has to be a famous person. But I checked the face claim list and Joel MIller isn't claimed by anyone yet.

Subject: Model Listing
Model ListingNames on this list are not enforced by staff to be claimed upon by roleplayers and while we do encourage sharing, it is up to the players to make that decision between each other (PM them) - both players may post on the thread confirming the agreement, afterwards.
Accounts marked with an asterisk [*] are open to sharing.
Accounts marked with two asterisks [**] are First Gen Elders.
Note, changing your name, gender and changing your face does not equal to creating a new character. Your character history will remain the same.
To save time: press 'Ctrl' and 'F' at the same time. Then search the page (by typing the model's name into the 'Find' box) to see if the person you wish to pick is already on the list.

I think most of your questions were answered, and I agree with the answers. Don't rush too much, the tutorial is a great way to keep leveling up. If you like killing zombies, you can also go join the group at the entrance of the quarantine zone and sell all those ears for a good bit of starting cash. Just something to keep in mind, they sell more there than they do at a shop.
There have been times I've waited to actually rp a character much until they were leveled up more cause I wanted the relevant stats to work, I believe I did that with my characters I wanted to start as business owners. But you can get started whenever you want, you could also maybe just avoid the relevant situations until you level up where you believe he should have been I think. Like mostly doing social threads or something if you want him to be a fighter but do things meanwhile.
As for gangsters, the lower level ones aren't too high level I think. So if you focus combat skill and are the killer path it shouldn't take too long before you can take them on in game. And from there you could just use that as evidence he can win. But I'd defenitely suggest finishing the tutorial first and making the most of the easier to find zombies in there. Afterwards, teh Quarantine zone is a good place for low level characters to grind up until they can go after gangsters, or go to the Muasoleum which is also where I grind once I can start killing ancients.
If you want to rp, again already mentioned, there's journal for solo stuff, could also do something in Roleplay planning, hardcore roleplay has some extra variables. I personally love that version but it's all up to opinion.
I recently got back from Hiatus so my writing could be a bit clunky, but I'd also be up for rp'ing depending on what you're up for. Got characters on varying ends of the...spectrum? Of morality, skill, and occupations. Up to you. If you do want to write with me, you can pm me. Or reach out to me on discord. Otherwise I think Alexandrea mentioned some of the options.

Re: Noob with questions
Regarding hunting the gangters, just a friendly reminder...
Killing Gangsters and any other 'human' npc's OUTSIDE of raids WILL get your notoriety up and cops shooting at you.

Notoriety
Just like in the real world, undertaking certain actions will attract police attention. Each action (listed below) that garners notoriety will increase your chances of being recognized by police officers.
Cops have an X in 30 chance of recognizing you, where X is the notoriety points. Notoriety points can go up to 60, so cops may have a 100% chance of recognizing you if you walk by. When you are noticed by a cop, they will attack. Whether or not you are wounded depends on your stats. Notoriety points are reduced by 3 each day.
In the future there may be a possibility for hackers to lower their notoriety, or the notoriety of others.
Actions that increase Notoriety:
Failing a hack
Killing Cops
Killing Gangsters
Killing Guards during breaking and entering
Being spotted feeding in high security areas
