Jane sat there the voice in her head was deafening at times but she had grown used to it ... the dumb smile on her face often masked her discomfort and she often got blamed for being dumb or not all there because she was listening to more than one person and one of them was in her mind. The brunette across from her at the desk had been talking for awhile now laying out the new marketing plan for the child care center. The woman had not come cheap. She had a PHD, in early childhood education was an Assessor for NAEYC, and advisor for the CCCF. whatever that meant Jane was not up on the latest degrees or anything on teaching young children. She really wished Mortll would handle this herself but Jane shuddered at the thought of Mortll being anywhere near a child. Jane thought she had the worst luck in the world sometimes when it came to having this particular vampire as a master ... Not all of them she had met were as sadistic or cruel as Mortll could be ... but then she had met worse than Mortll ...and she had seen she was hard when Mortll had to be she often did the things that Jane thought were gross and highly against what anyone thought was proper but it was often someone else's mess that the woman was cleaning up or fixing. She was quite sure the woman took pleasure in killing but from what Jane had seen and gathered she didn't do it without cause and sometimes that cause was not apparent at first.
Like this little venture when Mortll had told her that she had Bought a daycare center in Janes name, Jane was like WTF you aren't going to be draining children are you ? Mortll had just given her a bland look that suggested she was about to shoot her or she was going to find herself literally in the **** pile shoveling for a week if she didn't shut up. “Not that i have to explain myself to you but vampires have and are getting a worse reputation here in Harper Rock ... Children are more easily swayed and learn quicker than grown adults that already have bias instilled in them if they learn not to fear Vampires and we have a safe place to teach inclusivity and tolerance it might just help our situation down the line .” She shrugged her shoulders at Jane.
Jane knew better than to question her any more. She just sat and listened to the plan. She found herself here with this woman that was talking to her like she was one of her pupils. She was peppy and bubbly to the point that made Jane look like a grouch. She showed Jane the flyers and a new Mission statement all the business cards and the new listings They had been open 2 months now and were 3/4ths of the way to having full capacity . Everything had been going well. She had implemented Safety protocols to make sure children were safe coming to and leaving the facility. The weekly Read with a vampire program had been a great success so far, not a single parental complaint after the first concerns about safety. The video camera footage of story time had been used on the local news ... Jane wasn't sure who Mortll had paid off to get that accomplished or if they had been genuinely interested. There were those that actually liked vampires in Harper Rock “ Miss Just .. Miss Just ? “ Jane snapped out of the thought she had been in the middle of she couldn't blame Mortll for that one the woman had quit speaking in her mind 20 minutes ago when she figured out Jane could handle it on her own ... “Yes ?” Jane said . “ I was asking would you like to take a tour of the facility. You can see for yourself what all we have implemented and how things are going with the children “ Jane thought this was a wonderful idea anything to get her out of that office and bored half to death “Yes Please ?” The two women walked into the active bustling world of LiL Suckers Daycare .

Re: [Chapter 9] Are you Kidding Me! (open)
Maria smiled watching the video of a vampire reading to children. Not that she could tell over a camera...or in person really. But she knew because she was supposed to know. "Lil Suckers daycare," not the first thing Maria would have expected in harper rock but to her it was genius. She didn't get it completely, the forward thinking of getting the next generation. She just thought they were trying to show that vampires were just like humans and would read to children if given the chance.
And she wanted to learn about it. So she was off, grabbing a small notebook and mechanical pencil on the way out. She wanted to see what she could learn. Maria had had her first 'encounter' rather recently with a vampire still. And it was...not what she expected. Yes she considered vampires very close to humans, but the circumstances were extremely peculiar. Surrounding the meeting. It had turned out quite well though. Marty was his name. She even convinced him to go swimming in the less than clean river.
She looked at the building when she arrived, breathing in and smiling as she slapped her hands together. "Heeeere we go!" she said to herself walking in to see if she could find anyone to talk to. Naturally she preferred an adult here...then again. If she could get some opinions from the children on the Read with a Vampire events, maybe that'd hit people harder.
The area was open enough that she could see things. Within just a little bit of entering someone checked her temperature of her forehead using one of those devices with a laser that she never knew the name of and gave her a sheet to sign in on. Maria smiled and went through with it happily. Cheerful people around here it seems, course it was for children, so maybe it was for their sake. Sad adults could make for sad children.
Before she left off she wanted to ask the woman near the sign in sheet somethings so she could get started, "Uh, hi! I'm kind of wanting to learn more about all that's going on here, don't worry I won't be prying too hard." She said smiling holding her pencil and paper, "I'm especially interested in the Read with a Vampire event. I'd love to talk to both the children and, if possible, even some of the readers who took part if that's possible. Give them a call later if none are around maybe? Maybe talk about the reasons for the starting of such an event and what they read about?"
She waited patiently to see what kind of response she might get. Maria was pretty cheerful as usual and just the presence of children helped that. Human or otherwise, there was a joy that children had that was infectious. At least it was to her.

Jane nervously dug out a piece of gum and started to pop it into her mouth. The stern look from the other woman was enough to make Jane shove the unwrapped gum back into her purse. Dammit she owned this place she should be able to chew gum if she wanted but The brunette exuded an aura of authority around her that Jane was not about to question if she messed up this deal, she had more to worry about than Miss Teacher pants. Jane blew a mental raspberry at the woman. “Miss Haleford we are wanting to open 3 more centers around town... and I want to reach out to the less fortunate in our community Maybe a outreach program to other child care facilities to help with any capacity problems and Scholarship a few students that they cannot handle “ The woman smiled at her as she responded “ Doctor Haleford and that sounds like a excellent idea Miss Just.”
As they were walking through the facility all the little ones waved Jane smiled and waved back. One of the teachers assistants approached “Doctor Haleford we have a visitor. She is wanting an interview and is asking questions that i think is best for you to answer” Doctor Haleford nodded her head “Miss Just if you don't mind would you accompany me to see what this is all about?” Jane really didn't want to be on camera. She glanced to the front of the building and took note of the young woman that stood there. She didn't look like a reporter and Jane saw no sign of a camera. They approached the young woman stepping through the gate. “Hello I am Doctor Haleford Director of Lil Suckers Daycare and this is Miss Just the owner. How may i help you ?”

Re: [Chapter 9] Are you Kidding Me! (open)
Maria waited patiently. Wouldn't be too long before she saw Jane coming and smile. So, she got a Doctor and the owner! Well this was one of the best circumstances as long as they were willing to talk with her.
She smiled taking out two separate press cards, the reason being one was from her own business, and the other was a more formally paid for card, "Hi! My name's Maria, I was hoping to ask some questions and get a better idea of what's going on. Especially in regards to the Reading with a Vampire event, your expectations, intentions, and so on." Mari was quite as cheerful as she ever was, it was not fake, she genuinely enjoyed talking to people. "I was kind of also hoping to ask the kids a few questions if possible as well, and maybe one of the people who do the readings. I write online journals, opinion pieces mostly, and figure this is the sort of thing I would want to share. It's, uh, hm."
Maria could be seen thinking over her next words before they came out, tapping her notebook in thought, "I want to clarify that I am not in favor if the legislation, The Distinction Between Living and Animated Persons Act, which places vampires in a position that is irrational by the standards of what is or isn't living and what is or isn't human." she furrowed her brow quietly mouthing the words to herself again trying to see if that sounded correct and then nodding her head, "Not really the reporter type, I'd usually prefer to get information other ways but I didn't completely trust that all the information someone else might get would be honest. And getting to do it in person really helps the validity of everything."
It's also more fun but this was a serious matter and she didn't want to joke around too much.

Re: [Chapter 9] Are you Kidding Me! (open)
Jane just sort of stared at the young woman; she didn’t have much chance to reply Dr. Haleford was already speaking. “Well Miss Maria I would be happy to grant you an interview and show you around the daycare when the children are not present due to Covid-19 restrictions. I cannot let you beyond this point unless you are a vampire that does not get or transmit the disease. Lil Suckers Daycare was founded by Miss Jane Just here who saw a need for a safe place for Harper Rocks Children.
Lil Suckers Daycare
is committed to building a high-quality, inclusive and affordable early years and child care environment. Ensuring children's health and safety is as important as supporting children's learning, development and emotional well-being.
We use enhanced safety measures during these trying times of not only The Harper Rock situation but for the World wide Pandemic. We believe that the children of Harper Rock are our most important commodity and will shape the future.” She motioned over to the sitting area that had all sorts of literature and parent resources available . “Would you like to sit? I am sure you have lots of questions and I do not wish to have any pictures of children in your blog until I okay it with my parents. I may be able to arrange an interview with the children but only with Parental permission. We are very inclusive here but very protective of our children.”
Jane did not have much to say she had learned the hard way to always be suspicious of things She really hoped that Mortll was still snooping around in her head and heard her thoughts about this Maria person. If anyone could check her out and see if she was Legitimate it was Mortll she had ways of knowing things much to Janes detriment at times.

Re: [Chapter 9] Are you Kidding Me! (open)
Maria looked between Dr Haleford and Jane as the Dr spoke. Haleford said she could get an interview with her and looked around the place. But there were restrictions, Including that being a vampire actually had an advantage. She was slightly internally amused at the disease bit. As far as she was aware, she could probably get rid of it the moment she got it since her immune system was stronger than humans. Naturally, she couldn't tell them that. Besides, if she was wrong, she could get children sick and who knows how they'd handle it. Well someone probably did, but it wasn't her.
The information Dr Haleford gave sounded practiced, which wasn't a bad thing. At least not to Maria. She offered to sit and she nodded, "Thank you, sure." she said politely heading over to sit down as the woman continued speaking. She nodded sternly as she mentioned not bringing pictures of the children unless ok'd with the parents, "I probably won't take many, if any pictures. Given the situation I'm trying to give a more general idea with specifics more about the adults. I may take direct quotes, but unless someone specifically says otherwise I don't plan on revealing identities where unneeded. This is a somewhat sensitive matter after-all."
An interview with the kids was possible, with parental consent naturally. Most possibly also with parental presence she figured. She was interested in why Jane wasn't speaking but didn't bring it up just yet. "Well, if you don't mind, can I record things for now. Helps with if there's something specific I realize would be good to quote, but...forgot to write down at the time. In the speed of conversation only so much can go in a notebook without losing track." she held up the audio recorder to show her, "I'm, uh, still working on the active part of journalism. Writing is ok, tend to ramble. Tend to ramble in person. Anyway, sorry."
She took in a breath trying to slow herself down. Just wait for the audio question first, then see where she could go from there. She definitely had some questions she believed could be good to write down. it didn't mean everything she asked would go into any journal inherently. But having it for reference was good.
