Lesson Learned [Signe]

Post by Caligrace »

Noah:
[t] I'm getting my *** kicked.
Every:
[t] What did you do this time?

Caligrace:
[t] ...
[t] you need a tighter leash on your pet and her plaything, shadowcat.
[t] seems you got into a tangle with the vampire hunters, dollface.
[t] I suggest backing down before you get killed. They don't show mercy. Ephraim is the leader of the new Paladin Order.

Every:
[t] Back down or don’t. It’s your choice. I’ll deal with them if you do.
[t] The Shadow Realm is a place of nightmares, so.

Caligrace:
[t] only reason I said back down. he's fresh blood, he doesn't know what he's getting into.

Every:
[t] it’s his decision

Caligrace:
[t] i guess

Noah:
[t] We're in the Grove.

Caligrace:
[t] I'm watching. Roman is there. I won't step in unless you ask. This is your fight.

Noah:
[t] Go for it.
[t] I'm going to kill him.

[time lapse]

[t] Ow.

Caligrace:
[t] ...
[t] So, what we've learned. Don't poke the Paladins.
[t] It was a lesson I had to learn hard, too.

Every:
[t] I stepped in a second short to teleport the paladin.

Noah
[t] I gave as good as I got.

Caligrace
[t] Good. I'm proud of you. I was watching through Roman.

Noah proceeded to bleed out in the penthouse.

Caligrace sighed and glanced down at the man, You're making quite the mess. It's a good thing I'm renovating. That said, I'm proud of you.”

Every sighed, slipping in through the door. “Now, I get to ply diplomat with our enemies because the blood deal went south without intention. Fabulous. Not bad for a first fight.”

Noah grumbled. He shot first.

Every: “Paladin don’t care. Those are vampire hunters.”

Noah: Then why the **** is he in a vampire hunting ground. And why haven't we killed him.

Every: Because he’s hunting vampires. And because for the most part they **** off and leave us alone because of a deal made between his ***** and I. She’s my pet.

Caligrace: Pretty much. They leave us alone, after her pet tried to kill me a few months ago, and Every went for her head. They brokered a deal that I don't fully understand, but I trust Every.

Every: “Also, the hunters in this city are hard to kill. It took two weeks and a **** load of hints to kill their elders.” She glanced at Caligrace, frowning.

Noah leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes.

Every: There’s always something worse lurking beyond. That’s why wiping them out is stupid.

Noah went to raise his right arm. Realized it was missing. Just blinked slowly at the stump.

Caligrace: ...

Every: It’ll grow back.

Caligrace realized at the same time he was missing limbs. Her features paled even more, and she took a subtle step back.

Noah waved the stump around.

Caligrace: “...pleasedontdothat.”

Noah looked down to his legs. Lifted that stump up to view it better, too. “How…”

Caligrace covered her mouth with her hand.

Noah blinked up at them, groggy. “How did I get here…”

Caligrace: “You tomed. You need to rest, Noah. Stop... waving bits of you around. Do I need to call Clio? She has a tome, too.”

Noah opened his mouth and spoke from his chest in a deep bass. “Toooome… I feel…” He passed out right then.
Caligrace: ... he's going to bleed out on my floor, Shadowcat.

Every rolled her eyes slightly. “He’s not going to bleed out. We don’t do that. Go grab a thing. Call his wife. We can boost his blood.”

Caligrace
"Go grab the thing, she says," she muttered, and went to do exactly that, one hand wiggling her phone from her pocket to text Clio, before grabbing 'the thing' and returning to her childe.

Every

Lesson Learned [Signe]

Aubrey
What the **** was that? *looked bewildered, scared,*

Caligrace
flipped open the first aid kit with one hand, while the other held her phone, typing out a rapid text to Clio, informing the woman of her husband's state and telling her to tome quickly to keep him calm while they took care of him. "You foolish man," she muttered, chewing on her lip as she glanced towards Aubrey. "That was your father starting a fight with the leader of the Paladins, doll. Are you okay? You didn't get in the crossfire, did you?"

Clio
*Using the tome was an interesting experience to say the least, but as woozy at it made her stomach Clio's focus was entirely on Noah. When her brown eyes landed on him and she saw the amount of wounds, the blood, two things went through her - concern first and foremost, and then rage. "Who the **** did this," she all but snarled, small fists clenching as her brown eyes snapped with fire.

Aubrey
"All I could hear was whoosh, and then whoosh, and then tatata, and then ah! and then whoosh, and when more ah!" *was making all the wild hand gestures that went along with her sound effects* "I was gonna shoot, but I didn't know who I was gonna shoot!"

Caligrace
had expected the reaction - and she took a quiet breath, even though it wasn't needed. "His name is Ephraim. He's the leader of the vampire hunter group. Noah tried to steal from him. They hate our kind, and any who side with us," she explained, watching Aubrey with a touch of amusement but mostly wariness. "Please, do not go after them. They will kill you. You're not strong enough, but your day will come."

Aubrey
*Had blood spatters on her, but didn't know who's blood it was, hadn't bothered to check herself for any wounds, was running on pure adrenaline right now, even had the wide eyes that darted between who ever was speaking. Looked up at Clio when she got there and kind of wanted to hug her and kind of didn't want to get in the way, and kind of wanted to go running after this Ephraim person.*

Every
removed her phone from her pocket, tapping the keys with her thumb as she added, "Not to mention further damage an agreement I made with the ***** wife of the leader." She said, shutting her phone, "If any of you go after him, you'll be dealing with me. Do you understand?" Her eyes flashed gold, as she folded her arms in front of her chest. "Noah will heal, he'll grow stronger."

Aubrey
looked at Clio for confirmation on that directive.

Clio
's eyes narrowed when Caligrace explained it was a vampire hunter. Clio was nursing a bullet wound to the shoulder from one of those types as well, but this seemed a little like overkill. Suppressing a sigh, she looked to Noah and asked Caligrace, "What do we need to do?" Then, she turned to Aubrey and curled her arms around her, pulling her in close and licking her thumb before dabbing at some blood that had splattered on the girl's cheek. She was also securing Aubrey, knowing she'd want to track down this Ephraim character swiftly. Every made it clear that was not to happen, and after another subtle roll of her shoulders, Clio nodded. "Understood."

Caligrace
grit her teeth when Every spoke, casting her best friend a glare before turning her focus back to her childe. "I told you to tighten the leash," she snapped, though instead of speaking further, opted to focus on Clio's question. "We're going to boost his blood. Other than that, he needs to be bandaged and rest. A lot of rest. He should be healed in a few days, but some wounds will take a tad longer than others."

Clio
nodded, keeping her arms secured around Aubrey. "Right. Where can I get bandages?"

Aubrey
didn't argue with Clio as she got folded up in that motherly hug and got the spit bath to go along with it. Made a face. "I can help with the healing part?" Wasn't entirely resolved with not going after Ephraim, but wasn't going to outright disobey them all either. She'd think of something though, given enough time, and enough talking with the siblings.

Every
knelt down by Noah, her hair falling over her shoulder as she said, "Enough, Caligrace. You know as well as I do that she does what she wants within her boundaries. Stealing was never covered and that's my mistake." As she appraised the man, she said, "I honestly don't know how Noah survived, so luck is on his side." Her gaze moved to Clio and Aubrey, "When vampires die within city limits, they go to the shadow realm. He would have returned." Nodding, she added, "We'll need your help with blood healing, if you can."

Aubrey
nodded, scrunched up her nose and started focusing and trying to remember exactly how to use her new powers.

Caligrace
motioned to the first aid kit open on the floor, before blinking and peering across the loose boards and plastic signaling the renovation. "The closet over there," she replied, motioning towards the door that was half-opened. "There should be more there. Gather all that you can. He'll need it," she offered a faint smile and pushed up the sleeves of her sweater, slender fingers brushing some blood from her childe's cheek. "Make sure it's covered now. He's lost nearly all of his blood. There is no way -- luck is truly on his side tonight."

Clio
felt relieved when Every explained the shadow realm, knowing she wouldn't have lost him. It turned out immortality was just that, and if there was anything she could do to help him, she'd do it. "All right, I'll just need some guidance on how to do it," she said, chewing on her lower lip to expel some stress. Releasing Aubrey, she nudged the girl in the direction of the closet and moved toward the door, gathering all the bandages she could find and returning them to Every and Caligrace.

Every
tucked her hair behind her shoulder as she took a seat on the ground before mumbling about touch under her breath about the man being unconscious. As she focused, she boosted his blood twice. "I'll summon spirits, if needed. Right now, we're just going to be covering his wounds. They'll mend on their own, he's lucky he isn't like myself. I took twice as long to heal." Taking the bandages, she offered Clio a half smile. "Start with his arm stub, if you don't have an uneasy gut."

Aubrey
looked up at Clio and nodded, giving her a silent promise not to run off and do something stupid. She looked at Every then and swallowed hard. "Yeah, I mean, yes, please. I could use the bug juice."

Caligrace
sank to her knees at his side after twisting her own red curls up to keep them out of the way. Once she was situated, she followed Every's direction with the healing and bit into her lip as she allowed her power to flow through her, boosting his levels a few times with a comforting and encouraging smile to Aubrey.

Aubrey
every time the spirits showed up around her, she always thought of fire flies, and had since then nicknamed them bugs.

Aubrey
went into a kind of a trance state and focused on the energy that sparked in front of her. When she had pulled that energy inside of her, she knelt down beside her father and put her hands on his face, cupping his cheeks and let the energy flow from her and into him, releasing enough of the energy to heal him for two pints of blood.

Noah
jerked awake as blood magically flowed through his veins, his eyes bulging wide and darting around the room. He was already reaching for the rifle still attached to his hip before he realized he was... Well, he supposed he was home. What else was it if not that? And in an instant, he realized that Caligrace and Every had truly been enfolded into the family now. They were no different to him than his wife, children, or Solo. Each member of the family had, at various times over the years, stumbled through the doors battered and bloodied. Perhaps not missing limbs, though... Noah gagged as he glanced at his amputated arm and leg. A moment later, he turned his head and vomited into a pool of blood.

Aubrey
had to move really quickly when Noah started vomiting. "Gross" muttered under her breath and tried to make sure she didn't have any of that on her. Then she put on her happy face, totally faking it and looked at her father and said. "Just sleep it off. You'll feel better soon."

Caligrace
stared for a moment at the puddle of blood that overtook her floor and sighed. "I should have gotten you a trash can," she muttered, her nose wrinkling as she gripped what remained of his arm a little tighter to finish the blood infusion. Once the magic waned, she settled back on her heels, allowing Clio to do what she needed to ensure that her husband was bandaged proper.

Every
sighed, "Remind me to offer to knock you around in training like I did that one later." She motioned towards Caligrace before getting to her feet, drawing a knife from her boot as she went. As Aubrey mentioned bugs, Every's lips parted in brief confusion before she understood. "Well, between the three of us we should be able to sort it out." Quick and without thought, she drew the blade across her palm before getting busy summoning spirits. When she finished, Every touched a pin on her jeans, alternating as she summoned a banshee with blood bags before summoning more.

Noah
Noah quit

Aubrey
pointed to herself, a little confused as she asked Every, "Me? Knock me around in training?"

Caligrace
chuckled. "You'll have your turn, for sure. All of you will. It's fun, trust me."

Every
shook her head as she said, "Your father."

Caligrace
winked at Every, before running her palms over her jeans and sighing.

Aubrey
"Long as I get a go at it, I'm cool."

Clio
's hands pulled her hair up into a bun as she crossed the room and gathered bandages from the various places Every had pointed out. Soon she was back, kneeling down beside her wounded husband and setting the supplies out neatly. She put her hand carefully on Noah's chin and turned his face towards her so he wouldn't focus on the extent of his injuries, and started in bandaging him, only glancing away from his eyes long enough to know where to bandage next. The voices melted away around her as she worked.

Every
glanced towards her childe once all was well, nudging her chin slightly as she knew about her concern about missing limbs. "Why don't you head back to the club or go play with Pickles? Chadwick will clean up while the girls and I take care of Noah."

Caligrace
moved to her feet, careful to overstep the blood - where she could - and pulled her phone back out. Her eyes remained locked on the screen, even as Every spoke, and she tossed out a quick text to Bjorn before nodding her head. "I will," she said, finally casting one last look to Noah. "Call me if you need me. Any of you. I'm sorry -- I just --" With a toss of her hand towards the missing limbs that were being bandaged, she blew them a kiss or two, and left.

Clio
had bandaged everywhere she possibly could, given Noah's state. Leaning back on her heels she nodded after Caligrace, and then turned toward Every. "Is there anywhere we should move him so he can rest?" she asked, reaching for Noah's hand and toying over his fingers gently. She had to repeat to herself that it wouldn't be permissible to go after Ephraim, in that moment. It made her heart ache to see her husband torn up like this.

Aubrey
felt it all start sinking slowly in. She'd been lost in the adrenaline of it all earlier, but now everything had slowed down to a turtle's pace. She looked between them all again and then let her eyes land on Noah. They'd almost lost him tonight. Sure, Every said he would go away and then come back, but that didn't matter as much as the thought that they could actually die. She wanted revenge on the person that nearly took her Dad from her, but was told no. All she could do right now, was watch him, and make sure he didn't disappear.

Every
frowned, shaking her head at Noah. "You're going to run my blood pressure up just like Caligrace did when she and I first became friends." Looking to Clio, she gave a soft shrug. "If he's comfortable here, Noah's fine. This is Caligrace's apartment and you're all welcome here. We own property all over the city, so you all should make yourselves comfortable."
