[x] Attacked by an inactive character

Here’s an interesting one that may be a bug or just a game mechanic. Either way, it sucks

Character A decided to attempt to steal from me, not - it must be said - for the first time, so I decided to attempt to put them off trying this again by skirmishing them. I hit them, and received a retaliation attack not by Character A, but by Mordechai.

I appreciate that AI settings allow people to defend allies etc, but this one is a bit weird for several reasons:

A) Mordechai is inactive. How does he attack?

B) Mordechai is inactive! How do I slap him back for attacking me?

C) Mordechai IS INACTIVE!!! How does he magically appear and attack me, then magically disappear?

Any light on this would be appreciated. If it’s just a game mechanic, so be it.

I don't suppose you were able to get any screenshots or noticed any hidden code?

Inactives should not be attacking in defence of allies (or for any other reason) IMO... but I can't say for 100% sure how it was coded. Marking this a B for now.

Unable to replicate this since the issue was reported, and the code looks correct, but flukes happen.

That said, note for self: keep an eye on it as things progress.
