yup, that's the spot. & I see it looks like Mick is the only referral Hamlet has so he should have gotten that karma.

She is the only one. I guess the others I was thinking of in the past were done via requesting him to turn them on the grid. (Not even sure if that's still a thing, tbh.)

Is Mick a brand new player?

I ask, because it shows under the IP for Mick that there is a 20+ character connected, as well as another.

Referrals only work for brand new players, so that might be why.

Excellent point! But then Mick shouldn't be showing up on the above list *points up*, should she?

Technically, I wouldn't think so, but I realized a while back on Caligrace that Hudson was showing up. Hudson isn't a new player - but used Caligrace's link to be created. I didn't receive the karma or exp for it, though. I just figured it showed everyone that used the link - be it new or old, and cycled through some sort of code to figure out if they should award the karma or not. xD

I have a few on Alex that I don't think were brand new to the game (Meara for example.) But, I honestly don't recall if Alex got the karma for them or not. I think not? I knew they weren't brand new so didn't wonder about this before. I bet you're correct and that's what's up in this case.

Which begs the question, if we're right that is, should Mick (and whomever else) have shown up on that list? I'm thinking no.

The things that might be a bug is them showing as a referral at all, but even then it might not be a bug. What might have happened was they signed up on a new IP for their second character at first, and then when the system found a link between IPs it marked them as no longer a new player, which would have prevented a referral bonus from going through, as it does check to see if they have other characters at a high level before giving out referral bonuses. When it checks to see if the person is a valid newbie, it orders by the character IDs, which means that if the first character that comes up isn't the same as the character in question (the one levelling up), that person already had an older character before the character in question was created, making them not a newbie.

In this case, there were two older characters made before Mick. So it would seem the system didn't link them as being under the same user until a little later, possibly due to a different IP being used on creation or something similar. But yeah, long story short, it's likely not a bug.
