First Meeting (Jazir and Katalina)

Post by Storyteller »

Jazir Pevinah
is sprawled out on the couch sleeping, looks a little like a teenager who died, is so pale and sallow skinned. His normally burnt orange hair grungy and heavy across his pale forehead and closed eyes.

Katalina Black
It was another night for Katalina but, like it or not, some things would never change. The time she had lost meant little to those around her. But, for her, it was a loss of home and pride. She shook her head. If only they knew she was alive. Then again, that wasn't an option. She woke up what lay inside her, stirring it like a pot. A dark buzzing filled her veins and with a light touch, the knob turned on the apartment door.

Katalina Black
She didn't really know who this place belonged to but, no one had been in or out in awhile. She needed what she could get. Easing open the door, Katalina caught an unnecessary breath in her throat. Someone was there. She cursed herself inside her mind. She wouldn't be able to do this again, not tonight. Katalina did not dare back away, as maybe she should have. Instead, she slowly entered, casting a small sense of silence to her footfalls.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
The moment the door opened he could feel it, the shift in the stale air, the stench of dust filled clothes and potential rodents skittering away from uneaten pizza in an open pizza box. Not that he ate human food, but the last time Mathias had been there...had donated...he'd had to feed and what better way to feed than to have a human deliver themselves to the front door? Hunger breathed through him, it exuded through every pore, pain making him as still as the grave, his eyes twitching once behind his eyelids and not opening. He couldn't place quite where the intruder was, but it didn't smell like anyone familiar. Perhaps someone had come to kill him? That...had his lips twitching into a smile.

Jazir Pevinah
"Hello..."

Jazir Pevinah
The single word was a light touch in her mind, a quiet probing into the open space that didn't seem as direct as it could be.

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
The first thing that came to her mind was "Oh ****." This truly was a bad idea. The voice in her head may have been a simple, even gentle gesture. But, to her it was like a block of concrete falling into the ocean pit of her stomach. This was a vampire's home. Had she not been so foolish, she might have taken note. But, being in the fade made her soft. Too soft. (f)

Jazir Pevinah
Was he welcoming? Not really, not in the original definition of what people expected of someone who couldn't care less if their home got intruded on. Or at least, didn't care in the 'right' way. Movement came after the silence, he couldn't not, his mind wouldn't let him stay still. So he sat up, brushed himself off, fell off the couch ingloriously. The pizza box flipped off the glass table and the glass table became the best sort of support he had. It was enough to get him up to his feet in a swaying sort of way and then his sunglasses fell to the carpet and his glowing orange eyes scoured the room for who had entered the apartment.

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
She damn well knew hiding wouldn't save her despite her ability to hide in even the lightest shadow. She could feel his age pulsing off of him, now. Running wouldn't save her either. Ripper taught her that much. She didn't dare sway, even as he turned. Instead, she met his fiery gaze with her shimmering blue one. Her eyes like light blue pools of glowing starlight, framed by dark brown hair and skin of pale-white. She could not find words for her intrusion, finding it best, not to break the silence. (f)

Jazir Pevinah
"No...do make yourself at home..."

Jazir Pevinah
The words left him with a casual wave of his hand, as he skirted towards the front door. Best to block the entrance or exit rather, just in case. The usual jittery fear he felt at going out of the apartment more of an intense hunger that he couldn't even try to dress up in polite casualness.

Jazir Pevinah
"Really, I don't mind...what's your name?"

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
Katalina was shell-shocked. Had anyone done that to her, she would have kicked them until they were an ink stain on the carpet. He moved quickly to shut the door behind her, and yes, that did set red flags up in her mind. No one was ever so courteous to someone who barged into their home. Or maybe, it was his eyes that set her off kilter. "Katalina." She barely managed, in a low voice. Wanting to sound intimidating and doing it were two different things. Though she wasn't sure hissing at him was exactly the best move either. She forced her body to un-stiffen, but her eyes, never left him.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
He leaned his weight against the door, watching her, noting her body language, his eyes squinting a little bit because there was an ache behind them for a moment at focusing. "Katalina..." He repeated her name and then answered it with his own. "Jazir..." That was the extent of his polite greeting, it fell apart on the way out. "In return for shelter..." It was difficult to organize his thoughts, there were so many ways he could approach this. "Will you sate my hunger...?"

Jazir Pevinah
She would...she will, that was the thought that followed it, if she refused then he would pit his strength against hers and see who came out the victor. Mortal wounds meant nothing if he could draw and pull even a single bite of blood, such was his hunger.

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
Fear. That was the first emotion she felt. Not for his hunger, that she was used to and felt on many a night. But, the way he worded that. He wasn't asking her to hunt for him; he was too strong and capable for such a question. No. Suddenly a flash of memory came back to her, back to insane vampire the night she had come back from her animistic state. It was so long ago, but- though one's pupils were completely dilated, they shared the same ring of red around the eye. Katalina smiled, shoving everything down, so as to not show how much she knew, how much she wanted to disappear. This was not a pleasant expression, as her fangs gleamed out at him. "I thought humans were the cattle?" Her voice played dark, almost coy. Half of her knew she couldn't win. Nor could she talk her way out of this forever. But, she'd be damned if this is the way she would be treated, or the way in which she would die.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
It was so subtle now, any shift of emotion across the face. Flawless features, perfect stature, a predator's defense mechanism in place of the traditional instinctual prey reaction. But her response was in the sharp point of her teeth as they snagged on her response. There was affront in her statement, he knew there was, a judgement there for what he was, but a large part of him no longer cared about that. "Cattle...implies there is a herd...for some...that is a foriegn concept...for some...there is only the singular...the potential...the fleeting one opportunity."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
"Yet, there is a herd. Right outside that door. A mass of bodies, set on their own tiny existence. One that we, will one day, out-live. So why turn on those who ally with you, when we could be what is left to inherit all?" Her words were, shockingly, true. Even to herself. She couldn't really believe she had said that, considering that she still had her own troubles killing people- humans. But, ever while she spoke, she slowly moved her hand to her side. It was barely fractions at a time, but seeing as he told her to be comfortable, she made a casual gesture, giving a slow pace to the end of the sofa.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"Bah...outdated..." He shook his head, damn the woman for speaking up the prejudice he'd found a personal reason to fight against. Wasn't he in here, in his own home, starving himself senseless unless his mate walked in the door and offered to share with him for his sense of right and wrong. "It is not about turning on anyone...who is truly an ally? Someone who is selfish...caught up in their own existence and being dependant on a lesser specie...or someone who's willing to share...share power...share strength, share experience and thought and feel that sense of reliance on someone just as strong...If we are what is left...I will survive...and those who share with me will survive and instead of draining away to nothing...we will share what we have until we are stronger together for it. When I chose this...I chose this because I pledged my life to rely upon one person...and that person was the person I loved...any who share...even those I 'hunt'...I repay. I provide for...I empower..."

Jazir Pevinah
"Besides...I am here...suffering alone? I am not out there, following in your footsteps? You came into my home. What sort of ally are you if you judge me for my hunger instead of ease it?"

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
She allowed pause for his words, truly taking them in. He did have a point on at least two variables, yet she couldn't think like him. Would not allow herself to. "I will agree that vampires turn easily on their own kind, for reasons I do not understand." She placed her left hand on the arm rest, leaning slightly. "When I say this, I don't mean you either. I look out and I see many who would kill what they are, or rage against everything around them. It is wrong. Though, why you'd choose to..." Her words trailed off into an unnecessary sigh that she felt more than needed. "I didn't choose this. Many of us don't, but I still have to live with it. Everyday." The mask in her tone dropped with that sentence, showing the hint of a southern accent that could never be covered completely in her contractions. If anything, she sounded frank.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"Because we can." He tracked her movements even if he stayed over by the door. "I was given a gift, I should have died, I was saved instead. I wanted to learn who and what I was...so I studied. I studied our history and what had happened before and how we had almost ended entirely because of avarice and competition and one person trying to steal the power from everyone else and be the strongest. But what if sharing our strengths wasn't forbidden? What if instead of one person empowered by cult like followers it was all of us...united. Or at the very least...some of us united. Checks and balances would exist if it were done right. I know they would...I chose this to prove that."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
"I'm not saying that we should be ruled by one person. As far as politics go-" She grinned wider. "I could, personally, not give a damn." A little chuckle escaped her, as if she were sharing her own privet joke. "I have always made my own rules." Her fingers were so close to her dear, golden gun now that if he moved, she could easily fire a shot. She could have pulled it right now. But, she held herself back. He was not deranged, as the creeper had been. He was killing his own kind, just as she did in her own mind. "Would it not have been smarter to go to these extremes when the need arose, rather than having to cage yourself like a beast? Proof of the truth does not weigh out logic."

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"I had more reasons than those I've mentioned. But the others are personal." He moved away from the door, towards her. He seemed far more balanced now than he had been when he'd awoken. The fiery orange glint in his eyes intent only on her. As he'd spoken it had become fairly obvious that he did not just have two fangs, more and more of his teeth were sharpening, curving and turning into glistening edged ivory as his hunger burned at him from the inside out. "I am not caged...I go out...I went out yesterday...I am contained. Unless I am with those I trust. Or...those that intrude into other's homes and put them at risk. You have said so much...but not given me an answer to my initial question. If it is not shelter you seek...what is it? Money? Weapons? Connections? Friends? What do you desire..." The sudden pull of his influence surpassed the normal, it dredged through her mind like the sudden crushing weight of an avalanche. Even if it seemed he was simply coaxing her to merely 'think' of what she desired, there was an edge to the suggestion that was impossible to fight off.

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
As soon as he moved, her head begun to ache. There were so many answers to that question. In reality, she had only broken in for a shower and somewhere to hide that was not in a sewer system. When she saw him, she hoped he was out cold. But, was that what she truly wanted? Anyone she knew probably assumed she was dead. Ripper wouldn't miss the childe that he happened upon and had to raise himself. Jack, well, who knows what he thought. But, that sent her thoughts further, further back then she ever wanted to go. Something she had long shunned since a young girl, and as a vampire had forgotten. "My brother....A family..." Both words seemed to ring hollow, as if she knew both, while running hand in hand, would never come true. It deflated her, somewhat, saying that. Even though she did not mean to do so. A heat came to her face and eyes, just at the thought of her brother. Visions of him did, indeed plague her.

Jazir Pevinah
"A family...we make our own family now. I couldn't hope to bring someone back to you I've never met...but I do know people who are reliable, who are trustworthy and who would support you and share their name with you. A family is not impossible to gain. And in the meantime, a temporary safe haven, present company excluded, can help." He didn't remember his own mother. He did remember her being a single mother however and the distinct lack of a second parent. As well as the pain of severing from who he'd been and how simple life had been before. "If I help you find that will you sate my hunger?"

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
There were days, her brother didn't seem to leave. But, he was twisted by the darkness in ways she didn't comprehend, always taunting her and making her question herself, or argue with what looked like to others, thin air. Sometimes, she wondered if it was him and not some demon there to haunt her for what she had become. She had heard him but- "Making a deal with you is like making a deal with the devil. My family is dead. Whether it be physically, or not. You cannot bring that back. A family requires love... And, it seems that is gone from this world." Why was she still thinking? Draw the damn gun! No doubt, it was in her hands in a heartbeat. One shot, aimed for the chest. The second was aimed for the space in front of her as if she assumed he would floor her. She didn't want a fight, just as she did not want to die. But, she couldn't bring herself to live a lie and to let him...take what little dignity she had left.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"What was once...what is now is stronger. As you said yourself...mortals are set on their own tiny existence. One that we, will one day, out-live. So why turn on those who ally with you?" He let her words flow off his tongue as proof that he'd heard them and filed them away and taken them to heart. The gun didn't frighten him, he'd spent too long in the Fade to care. The only thing that frightened him was the thought of being separated from Mathias. That put a manic light in his eyes. If he died he'd do his damndest to drag the other back to the Fade with him so they wouldn't be alone...memory or no memory. "Love exists...it is more...it is more now than it ever was before. You don't have anyone to love yet. But you will. I have seen love at an extreme you could not fathom."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
(wait you actually did shoot him didn't you?)

Jazir Pevinah
(I can add to it if you did so you has a reaction to that xD I just caught that as I was rereading it)

Katalina Black
(Yeah, she did. I was going to respond as if he did not react or care but okay XD )

Jazir Pevinah
The pain of the bullet was MUCH delayed, but when it hit, it actually clashed with the ever present hunger he felt. He didn't even stop to think, he merely reflected all of the pain right back at her, sharing his pain as if she'd been the one to take the hit at the same time as him. It had him catching a hand tight to the back of the couch, had him slumping a bit against it, but it didn't take him to the floor. Instead the veritable roar of pain he let out blacked out every sense almost. The computer screen cracked, the tv screen splintered, the glass shattered up in a perfect explosion of twinkling white glass and the walls bowed in, bending and warping as his eyes brightened in the sudden flare of perfect malice.

Jazir Pevinah
"This is MY home!?"

Jazir Pevinah
(rf) :P

Jazir Pevinah
there

Katalina Black
Had she waited to hear him out, maybe, she would have lowered her firearm. But, it was too late to take anything back. At first, Katalina thought it had done nothing. He was left unfazed and was stronger than she could even fathom. Suddenly, a searing pain erupted though her chest. It was so close to her heart that she let out a cry and her knees buckled from shock. The gun lay on the arm, with her left hand barley around it as she clutched her chest with the right. As if anything could make it stop. Her eyes glowed bright too, but with a very different emotion as the world shattered around her. She knew she had to get out while she had the chance. Gritting her teeth, she used the sofa to pull herself up.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
He lunged at her, grabbing for anything he could, her arm, her side, her clothes and if his fingers found purchase he dragged her close. Instead of full body pinning her however he snatched her hand up to his mouth and buried every pointed incisor he had in his mouth in it, latching on to the source of everything he needed even as his body leaked blood that was long dried out.

Jazir Pevinah
"Wait...stop...just a bite..."

Jazir Pevinah
The words echoed about between them, repeated as if on a cycle.

First Meeting (Jazir and Katalina)

Jazir Pevinah
glances over at Mathias.

Jazir Pevinah
tackles.

Jazir Pevinah
"Mathias!" :D

Katalina Black
The movement was so fast, Katalina did not have time to think, or act. He pulled her down easily, as if she were nothing at all. What had happened to her? Was she truly that weak or was he that strong? Her head slammed on the ground, sending a fuzzy electricity behind her eyes. Needles dug into her arm, so sharp that they stung. The black blood appearing in his mouth rather than dripping or oozing out. If he was absorbing it, she would later question how, but right now, her skin was being ripped into, and that lit a spark in her soul.

Katalina Black
She reached out with her other hand, looking for the weapon, only to gaze up through blurry vision and see it hanging far above her. Out of reach. The next thing she did was only instinct, balling up her fist and punching him right in the ear.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
The strike was enough to jar his thoughts, but more than that his inhumane strength, his invampiric strength even, was only brought up in extreme situations. In reality, starvation had weakened him naturally, over the course of years. Like one of those old movies about Dracula desiccated in some long forgotten coffin in some long forgotten tomb. And he also had more self control than anyone who saw the state of his body could fathom. From the shark like teeth to the wild fire of his feral gaze and the disregard to personal hygiene and lack of maintenance in the apartment, everything screamed addict. Everything screamed self neglect and lack of control. His appearance and his insatiable hunger making him the last person anyone would want to trust. Unless they knew him personally. So even if his fangs tore and he pulled in what he needed so desperately, her second attack was not what had him letting her arm go, nor was it something that triggered any more malice out of him than she'd seen. The empathetic sharing had changed, instead of agony, he shared the relief he felt from what she had shared and then the room pulsated dark and loose items fell off of shelving and a strange confusing crushing weight hit her mind in a mental attack designed to confuse and lower her reaction

Jazir Pevinah
speed.

Jazir Pevinah
"I will not kill you."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
As soon as he let go, she reared her arm back to sock him only to fall short. A wave washed over her, and the pain died down. It was almost intoxicating, as the buzzing reverberated in her head and transformed into a pleasant dizziness. One that seemed to disrupt her previous thoughts. It was like she was sucking down the warm nectar of human blood, yet there was a power there that she could not grip. It was as if it were hanging in front of her, but only he could feel it to any extent that was tangible. How could he enjoy it so, when vampire blood felt like something clotted and vulgar in her mouth? She wanted to voice this, but his words drew over her. She had fallen short of a Siren before, it battered her mind. This was less unrealistic but twice as deadly.

Katalina Black
"Please...I'm sorry...just please, let me go?"

Katalina Black
Katalina's voice was light, soft, but despite her words, unpleading. It were as if she were hanging in a haze, trying to swim out of it

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
He got up to his feet, able to much easier now. The bullet had passed through him and the tear in his clothes didn't matter a bit. The tear in his body even less so. Hunger still beat at him insistently, the edge of it never gone or satiated. But it was still what he'd needed. He moved to stumble gracelessly over to her gun and pick it up off the floor. Checking it to see if there was still rounds loaded in it. It was beautiful, golden. It reminded him of the Childer he had spawned out of the brave soul who's only focus was to find abandoned parts and recreate weapons out of them. For a moment he just stared, wondering where said individual had gone. With what he'd just stolen he could leave the apartment, go outside and search him down. He licked his lips and swallowed once more and then turned to offer the weapon to her instead of a hand up.

Jazir Pevinah
"You're not trapped...name what you want in repayment for what I took...shelter...food...I am capable of summoning a human here...to help you replace what you lost...your beloved cattle."

Jazir Pevinah
The word cattle was all but spit out in disgust.

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
Indeed, the gun was loaded, with the exception of the two she fired. As he stood, her mind seemed to clear a bit. She no longer felt the rush nor the drugged state of loopy bliss. Unlike being shot, it was not something she was used to. Her thoughts became crisp and a hungry demon stirred. She couldn't believe what just happened. It didn't feel real, just as her turning did not. The way he said that stung more than it should have. She had used it first, but in truth, she stated only what might keep him at bay. She opened her mouth, only to close it as she sat up. If she was graceful, there was none left in her after tonight. Her hands shook, no matter how subtle it was. She took it from him, and pushed herself to her feet. Standing so close to him, she couldn't help but notice how he seemed taller at the doorway. He was only a few inches taller, which was a big change with how often she had to stare up. Still, she felt tiny now. "It seems you drew out the truth of that answer, so why even ask?" Her words were ice, but not in the ridged sense. Her gaze averted his and she made a walk towards the door. It was slow for her, not because she wanted him to stop her. No, her emotions ran deeper than that.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
He watched her, the end result of predator versus predator. A mock fight because both still lived only. This didn't happen, civility prevented it, in order to pretend to be humane...vampires repressed their nature and didn't dare step into someone else's space or territory. Even he felt the bite of territorial rage at having her in his home, rage that simmered into the pain of hunger and his 'right' to take what he needed safely. He didn't follow her. He simply moved towards the hallway that led to the bedroom. "I have the taste of you now...the shape of your mind in mine...I'll always find you out on the street...lets be actual allies...not enemies? I will draw a human here, they will be here in a few minutes. Rest, shower...it is that direction. Stay out of my bedroom but rest and recover and when you leave keep my name away from the hunters and I will consider you a friend and I will never take what you refuse to give willingly again."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
She stopped at the door as he spoke. Her head lightly pressed against the door, eyes closed. Some part of her knew she had to appear stronger than this and that she was stronger than this. But, too much weighed her down. She straightened, telling herself that it didn't matter. "You- What do you mean 'shape of my mind'?" It caught her off guard. She knew vampires had extraordinary abilities. Powers that were both shared and diverse. But, it was the very thing that drew her in. She loved knowledge. Not necessarily to use against anyone but merely to learn. Her head actually turned back to him. And, while the glow of her eyes seemed dim, there was a gleam in them that would have been hard to miss.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"Each person has a feeling...I had the ability to reach out to the minds of those I interacted with from the moment my eyes met my Sire's eyes...and I realized I was alive. I used it to ground myself...but this...what we just shared. I have your blood in my veins Katalina Black...I 'feel' you. You're a part of me now...enemy or ally, as much as the hole you shot in my body, but deeper. You could call it family, but family is something we'd both have to want to create for it to take shape and you said you are not ready for that. Call it a bond, call it an escape for me. I do not know your history completely, I do not know your personal knowledge, but I know 'you.' You're as much a part of my world as my other senses. I will always be able to see myself through your eyes."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
He stated her full name. It was not something she gave him, but as she listened, the more she tried to understand. She wanted to ask more, but at the same time did not want to know. "You don't want to know what I think." It was only after she spoke that she realized how harsh it came out. "I do not despise you despite what you may think....I- you are right. I should not be here, and if it means anything...I know that for all reasons, I should be dead."

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"Your mind feels like mine...most people would call me crazy. I doubt anything you think could unnerve me." His response was rueful. "You'll find no judgement from me. About anything..." Hearing how she felt he nodded, "Thank you...its fine. I usually offer what I can to those I meet. I'm glad you broke in. No you shouldn't. The only person I've killed since I've turned was the one who asked me to...and then I followed him to the Fade and brought him back."

Jazir Pevinah
Something Mathias's Sire had hated him for but it had worked out alright. Even if there were times he woke up and couldn't tell whether he was still there in the darkness or not.

First Meeting (Jazir and Katalina)

Post by Storyteller »

Katalina Black
His response made her lips twitch into the hint of a smile. "Oh, I'm sure you are." She gave a small chuckle. "But, you mistake what I said. I meant that if I caught anyone busting into my home? Well, it wouldn't have ended with the grace you've given me." In truth, she hadn't had a place to actually call 'home' in a very long time. She knew this was written all over her. Whether it be her, sure-fire attitude from growing up the hard way or how talented she was at stealing, even in her much younger years. But, now its reared its head in a new way, one she could barely stand. It was the way her hair hung limp. The unnatural way her clothes no longer fit tight to her once agile and ever-ready body. Granted, the way she carried herself made up for it, most days. She missed her solid black attire and beautiful sword that she labored to master. It had become her second extinction, and she had become more talented with it than her pistol, which meant leaps and bounds. But, who knew where all that was now? Had she not stashed the gun, it would have been lost to her as well. She had thought to sell it but couldn't bare to part with it. It was her reassurance, a gift, and the one thing she wished she'd had that night. Then her thoughts shifted, again. Back to Jazir.

Katalina Black
"How do you do that? Live with more then one person's emotions-" She bit her tongue. She knew what he went through, at least, somewhat.

Katalina Black
(f)

Jazir Pevinah
"Very much so...ah..." She had a point, he supposed a couple years ago he would have been more aggressive. Or maybe honestly, more friendly. It was hard to tell. He lifted a shoulder up in half a shrug. "Nothing graceful about what we just did..." His tone of voice sounded wry. "You know...if you'd like a place to rest in that's a little less...full of Necurat...you could always watch my other apartment for me? It's set up the same way this one is as a decoy. It doesn't have the computer and other things, but it has the same furniture...and its empty?"

Jazir Pevinah
Her question widened his eyes up a little and he blinked. "It gives me something to think about when I fade out of consciousness...pulls me back. With Mathias...we balanced each other's emotions...with you...even as chaotic as you feel it balances me a little. Other people's emotions are never as intense as your own."

Jazir Pevinah
(f)

Katalina Black
His suggestion seemed too genuine, even with the tone he took. Or maybe, she would never trust anyone regardless of how many people she met. Even if she fought, back to back and saved eachother's skin, there was always a part of her that waited for betrayal with everyone. Yet, she couldn't bare to pass up his offer. "My ego has been smashed into little, itsy-bitsy pieces somewhere over there," She glanced at the sofa, but she did not bother to hide the jovial tone in her words, nor the broad smile that played on her closed lips. "Maybe that other room is like a scrying glass and I'll find it over there." Her smile faded a little with his more serious words, but it did not stop her from acting like she was admiring her hand as she said "Chaotic? That's what you call me? I'll take it as a compliment."She paused, if only to kick the humor out of her, for a moment. Looking back up at him, she spoke in a more sober tone. "I inherited the ability to see memories from those I feed upon. The emotions tend to flash through...at first, it didn't even happen. Then, I couldn't eat without seeing a part of someone's life. You see someone who is ruthless, only to watch them hug their child for the last time. It makes you think..."

She had a point to this, and trudged forward. "It makes me wonder sometimes...and I couldn't help but wonder if you felt anything similar. Only reason why I asked." She changed course of her words at the last second, but who cares? She asked herself.

"Ego doesn't matter between friends or family." The statement was calm, calculated. It wasn't mean spirited, rather just a quiet observation of fact. "Besides which, I thought you acted admirably...you're strong for pushing past the intimidation others have cowed at...strong for remaining in this room with me afterwards and for having the sense of self to recover as well as you did from what happened. I respect and admire everything about the challenge you presented." He couldn't stop the slight smirk that tugged at his lips at her response to his offer of the other apartment. "Chaotic is not a bad thing. I'm chaotic...it is a compliment. You are like minded. And you are a Shadow...I recognize the taste of it. I once had a very close friend I considered a brother who was a Shadow...I think he's gone to the Fade now."

Jazir Pevinah
He was impressed when she actually approached him again, he moved to lean his shoulder more into the wall for support and battle down the ever present hunger so he could focus on what she'd said and asked.

Jazir Pevinah
"I can see memories...if I look for them...but I've been a telepath long enough that I can also not have that happen if it is not my intention to do so for a specific reason. Your mind is open to me...all it would take is my desire to see your past for me to see memories...but I have not seen anything yet, and I do not intend to search for more."

Jazir Pevinah
"Unless there is something you would like to share with me and then I would gladly share it. As that is something I do without thought for friends."

It was rare that anyone scrutinized her so. Or, to be more exact, voiced exactly what they saw. Half of her wanted to embrace the amount of credit he gave her. The other scoffed inwardly knowing that a true challenge would have ended in shadows impaling him, and her body safely out that door. She may have been hard on herself, but it was required. Regardless, the inner war did not show on her face. As he told her what he was capable of, she gave a light, fraction of a nod as if she were in deep concentration. But, if she had any further questions, she kept them to herself. To know her mind was left untouched, was a relief. No doubt, she was full of secrets that were left bound. "No...No, only my curiosity sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong."
