Poll options that fit the criteria have been added (some with small tweaks as discussed). Get voting! You have one week!
Just to note: I love all three of these update ideas. If one you like doesn't win, please suggest it during the next PVP update cycle.

Re: People's Preference (November) - PVP Update
Well, the bounty system kinda goes with the upcoming Storyline that I hope gets a good start. I like to see the Masquerade being protected as it should. I'm not a GM any more here, but just a simple player that is creating a story for all of us to join, supernatural only. Blood Thieves are welcome too seeing how they are partly Vampire. Here is the Link I added that will direct you to the storyline and all opinions are welcome.

The masquerade is dead.
You can't put toothpaste back into the tube once it's out.
As for the bounty system, I'm confused --
Will this be like the violation's list, automatically linked to getting yourself caught feeding, using powers, and killing uniforms? I don't get the: but this time based on careless crimes committed by an individual. Wasn't that how it always was?
And what now... Will it be tied to notoriety? Because that wasn't a thing before. If so, can it be hacked down? Can we do targeted hacks? Because I've evidence hacked Charlie's notoriety from low to ... well, it technically should have been in the negatives after three energy boosts. Yet, she still showed up 70-80% of the subsequent hacks (on low, still) despite there being plenty of other people with extremely high and high who popped up rarely. It's always been an issue, one I brought up but that was never satisfactorily addressed. The system isn't a fair representation of what an evidence log would look like given there are people with more files / bigger chunks of data ascribed to their name who seldom show up.
PS: Who puts this list out? Is it a cop-military report website? Is it backed by factions financially? Who would enforce it? Would it be a free for all, or something reserved to only those who know about its existence?

now IF we had more control over notoriety by having a new bounty list, that would be something I'd vote for. What I would really love to see would be an actual slider like on the chapter pages. That would ROCK. <3 <3 <3

I'll answer more of these questions later, but the return of *a* bounty list is something we've been discussing and considering for a while. Not based on the masquerade, no, but based on careless crimes committed. This is different to how it used to be, because it used to be about careless actions that reveal vampire kind; now it's about crimes. My first thought is that a group of vigilantes would be maintaining this list and paying out bounties, due to a general feeling that the country is going to hell and they need to keep order in a way that's above the law. It would be a free for all, yes.Bjorn wrote:The masquerade is dead.

We would have to do some work with improving the police notoriety system, yes. I will have more answers later, and will be willing to listen to thoughts and ideas if this option is the winning one.

Just to note: this is one vote per person, not per account. If you've voted with 4 character accounts then I'll be able to see that. Nobody will be punished for it (as you weren't to know), but I'll pick the winning vote accordingly. Let's keep it fair (assuming it hasn't been so far. I haven't checked yet).

Thank you for clearing some of that up.
I realise that this may be dependent on whether it is the option that wins out this month, but since you mention having already been thinking about it, I do have a follow up question. What measures will be in place to ensure that people don't take advantage of the bounty system as an excuse to do out of character-intentioned attacks?

If you're on the list, then they have an IC Reason, and OOC shouldn't be brought into it.

Yes and no, Cliff. Despite it being an IC mechanic, there's still ways for OOC actions to creep in. We saw this happen in the last incarnation.

OOC Actions can be slip into any IC Mechanics, and RP itself. Trust me, I'm aware of it. My suggestion is, don't assume OOC intention is behind every action, like I used to di, it only feeds paranoia and drives wedges between people where discussion can be had.Marina wrote:Yes and no, Cliff.
