As the last breath disappears from his lungs, his mouth hanging open a bit, he waits for the light at the end of the tunnel. He was just laying there waiting to die or for something more drastic to happen that indicated it was over. The other man made him drink his blood saying the pain would go away. Well, he didn't feel the pain at the moment. He also couldn't feel his arms, or any other part of him. He couldn't open his eyes, just to sense a movement within them? He wasn't breathing, and he couldn't hear his heart beat like before. There was no tingling sensation. There was no proof, for him, to know if he was alive. He thinks a sigh. I guess this is what it felt like to die. Guess heaven/hell didn't exist unless this was hell? Suddenly as though a wave of water had washed over him, feelings dim at first, were in his extremities. It came back all at once and felt so weird. He jerks forward with the strange sensation, his eyes open. He glances around as everything becomes too clear. The bright colors were blinding and the dark colors were easily visible now. The shape forming besides him was that guy who had taken the pain away?! He touches the other man's arm, just to-just make sure he was really there. What was happening, he didn't know? He almost didn't care, the curiosity vanishes slowly. On one hand he felt so much and on the other he couldn't care less about what was happening right now. He sighs as his other hand races to his throat, just to feel the air pass through his fingers. After that he didn't feel the need to breathe. He knew what he would've done before, could remember feasting on the air, but now it seemed irrelevant. Thinking of before, he jolts, remembering his wound. He lets go of the man and feels his stomach. He pushed his black hoodie halfway up his stomach as he moves his green shirt aside. He begins rubbing the spot as though a terrible itch was clawing at it from the other side. There was nothing besides the blood there. There was no evidence he was terribly wounded besides the red liquid that had dried during the moments before. He touches his chin, mindlessly, as his eyes widen in horror. He didn't know what to say or why the other man hadn't gone away by now. Was he thinking of burying him? That would've been a nice thing to do for a stranger. "Did I die? I-I can't seem to recall. I thought i was hurt. Wasn't I?" He touches the other's shoulder, pushing him a little. "What's your name?"

He watched as the other man faded away, until there was nothing there at all, and it left Grayson with this feeling of hollowness in his core. He could feel pressure behind his eyes as his eyes began to water. He wanted nothing more than to reach inside of Kinder - proverbially of course- and pull him back. The moment when the other man died, Gray was pretty sure he was going to absolutely lose it. He had only just met this person, and yet losing him was so painful that it was like steel daggers closing in around his chest, jagged and cold. Tears streamed over his cheeks and to his chin, only to cling there and then drip.

His eyes slid shut so that he could avoid the sting of them. And then he felt a hand grip his arm. His eyes popped open. And just like that, the sadness was replaced with this...weird sense. Like joy and accomplishment and pride and happiness all rolled into one little ball. This was what it was to sire someone, to turn them. He was dumfounded by it all. The emotions. How the emotions suddenly and starkly changed. So stupefied was he that he didn’t move and didn’t speak at first, watching as the other man revealed part of his abdomen. And then it overtook him. His arms flung around Kinder and he pulled the man to his chest so tightly he might have broken a rib.

“You are alive!” He said, his voice tinted by the depth of the sorrow he had felt only a moment before. “You died, but you came back. You’re alive!” He repeated, as if totally surprised by the very basics of vampirism. “And you’re beautiful.” He said just after that. Then he was up on his feet, extending a hand out for the other man. “Grayson. I’m Grayson, and you must be absolutely STARVING. We’ve got to get you some blood, and then we need to get you to the crypt so you can mee-” He cut himself off. It occurred to him that he knew nothing about the other man. Where he’d come from. What he had been doing. Nothing at all about his life.

“I mean. You need a place to sleep during the day. Do you have one? If not, a lot of us Reeds...that’s your bloodline...we have a crypt.” He realized objectively that what he was saying probably didn’t make a lot of sense, but he was just overjoyed to have the other man back from the brink of nothingness.

Indeed the air he had tried to breathe wasn't as satisfying as it had been before whatever had just happened. "I don't actually have a place to sleep, but even if I did I wouldn't want to be alone. If that is understandable. I-I kinda feel that I don't want to leave you if that makes sense. I can't really explain it, but maybe this will help. You saved me, so I owe you my life." he tries to explain it. That sort of summed it up even if not completely. For saying things now and feeling were two completely different things. They were completely separate. No longer conjoined by expression. He narrows his eyes, exasperated. "I think something to eat would be necessary." he takes the extended hand and stands up, awkwardly. Slightly pushing into the other as he gets used to the feels coming back. "I don't quite understand what happened." he admits, hoping he didn't appear weak. He slips his hand out of the other's, crossing his arms over his chest, protectively. The smell of blood on his hoodie seemed to crawl up his nose. He looks down fingering the red spots, sentimentally. Some of the dried blood breaks onto the tip of his index finger, of his right hand. And he has an overwhelming urge to eat it. Out of uncontrollable curiosity, his hand begins to move towards his mouth..

His smile was faint at first, but it grew larger at the other man’s words. Right! Kinder needed a place to stay, and much like Gray, he wasn’t the sort to sleep alone. The Allurist entirely got that, because he had felt much the same right after he had been turned as well. In fact, he hadn’t much left Adley’s side since that point, which didn’t at all seem odd to him. “Well I have a place for you to stay, and a whole family who are going to happy to see you around.” He offered. That had been another thing that was really important to Grayson - because his own mother and father had disowned him in life. Having people to share his time with again, being able to call them family (and more) had helped him to get through the hunger of the first few weeks of vampirism.

With that in mind, it was true, Kinder needed to get some blood. Gray watched as the other man lifted crusty blood towards his lips, and those eyes like the blue halo of a full moon narrowed. He reached...and lightly smacked his newly turned childer’s hand. Not hard enough to be harmful, but certainly enough to get attention. “None of that.” He said. “Trust me. The fresh stuff is what you want. Normally I have a very particular way of hunting.” Specifically, Gray usually seduced someone into giving him what he wanted. He also didn’t want Kinder to feed on Egret, on the off chance Kinder went blood crazy and accidentally killed her. Which meant they needed to properly hunt.

He began in the direction of the exit, motioning for the other man to follow. “I need to figure out your Path. Adley might know more about that...but first thing you have to learn are the absolute basics. No going out during the day, keeping a low profile (especially around cops), and how to get blood without making a huge mess.” Of course, Kinder’s clothing was destroyed. They could worry about that after getting blood though.

He follows Grayson towards the exit. He rubs his hands on his jeans, reluctantly. His eyes narrow as he watches the place. "My-my path? I'm an Allurist. Why would they be happy to see me? All I did was die?" he asks, a touch of remorse on his words. He was no one.., but maybe he could change that. Maybe this was a second chance? He wouldn't take this time for granted. "You really don't mind that I don't want to leave you? You-you don't find it creepy?" he says, a little surprised. "Do I call you master now? Or what?" he had to form his words fast because right as he was about to say something, immediate indifferent feelings replaced his curious ones. It was kind of annoying, probably explained his stutter..

They were passing through the exit onto the street and Grayson found himself glancing around to make sure there were no zombies near. He glanced back over a shoulder towards Kinder. “That’s what I am. There’s a lot that goes along with that. You can train your body to eat food. Emotions are going to be a pain kinda. When you’re mad, you’ll be crazy mad, but when you feel good…” He shrugged then. Maybe that was why he kept so close to his bloodline - because they made him happy, and joy was at the center of everything he craved.

“Don’t look in any reflective surfaces though. You’ll get a shock you won’t appreciate.” At least Grayson hadn’t. Allurists saw their decomposing bodies in mirrors and it was not even slightly pleasant. Especially for a man as vain as Gray.

When he was sure the coast was clear, he ambled out, stalking through the shadows. They were covered in filth, so it would probably be best to find a druggie or something. Someone who wasn’t likely to be missed. Of course, Gray wanted to give his childe the very best feeding experience, but he’d take what he could get until he had time to teach the other man the more enjoyable means of getting blood.

“Nah. It’s not creepy. I like it.” Though that was, at least in part, because Gray himself wanted to be around family all of the time himself, so having someone constantly under foot wasn’t likely to upset him at all. “And...no. You can call me Grayson. Or sire? I mean you can call me whatever you want, but I’m not in control of you or anything. I don’t think.” He actually had no clue exactly how it all worked. His head tipped to one side, and he sniffed lightly.

There was definitely something living near, so he began towards it.

He continues walking besides his sire. Might as well call him that to differentiate him from others. It will help his memory that seems to attempt at being irrelevant more often then not. He sighs, following silently, behind the other. One step behind to be exact. He was side-stepping. He could still focus on what he cared about? He just needed to want it more than anything. It was kinda curious, he thinks, why his sire didn't find him creepy when they had just met? He didn't really care though, it was nice to be wanted and needed. He appreciated the welcoming eyes. He hates that he had to die in the first place, but he should have been more aware about the zombie situation. He should've turned on the TV for once and been informed. He sighs, at his lack of attention for the world. A meteor could've crashed into Missouri and because he didn't watch the news, would've been extinct with the rest of humanity. Wait, a hand to his chest, was he human? Still? His mind never went under the dark blanket he thought. Just the body. So since his mind was active the whole time did he really transition into whatever? He feels his side again, the wound was gone, and everything was easier to see. Something had changed, for sure. "Grayson," he tries to whisper and still be heard. "What would you call us or-or me? Now that I'm not dead?" It was similar to a roasting battle the way he had to race in saying something that seemed so simple. "I'm not a zombie, right? Gray-sire?" he suppresses the urge to touch the other. He didn't want to offend his sire. His anger was surely something to be feared, right? It was hard to walk slow when his stomach tried to tear him apart from the inside-out with the everlasting hunger. He narrows his eyes trying to focus. Why was he so hungry...for blood? He had tried to eat his own blood before and didn't think it strange in the slightest. Yet he knew what he would've thought about that before he died. He would've gagged for sure at the scent climbing up his nose. Wha-Whatever. He needed something refreshing. That's the point here!

It was as if the sense of something living came to him a step at a time. First was always scent. Grayson always had been gifted with a discerning nose - though some people in his life had called him fussy. The way he avoided anything foul smelling had been the playful subject of youthful derision. After that came the sound. He could have sworn he heard heartbeats and every time blood pulsed through a person’s body. Then there was the taste in his mouth. When he was close enough to someone, there was always the faintest essence of...something there. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Of course whoever they were getting close to naturally was an assault on those heightened, honed, and delicate senses.

The smell was of a man who had not washed in days or weeks. Probably someone homeless.

It was not at all what he would have wanted as a first meal for his childe, but it would have to do.

“No, not a zombie. You’re a vampire. Zombies are totally dead things but you...to borrow a phrase from my own sire...you’re a fuckin’ god.” He grinned then, glancing back towards Kinder, before they finally came upon their prey, a man cooped under the overhang just outside of the side door of some building - right in a dark alleyway. The man was using the building’s structure as a temporary shelter, and he was fast asleep. The homeless man was covered in layers and layers of clothing despite the approach of summer, and he was curled up on his side, with his head resting on a pillow made out of a backpack.

“There. He isn’t much, but he won’t give you a struggle. I’ll keep an eye on the entrance to the alley. After you’ve sated some of your thirst, I will teach you some other ways to get blood.” And then he felt...some sort of uncertainty in the other man. The feeling confused him, and yet what Grayson did was pure instinct. He wrapped Kinder in a tight hug.

“You’ll be fine. You’ll do fine.” Then he went to be a lookout.

He walks up to the sleeping ********, looking down at him, slowly. He kneels along the bench. The amount of blankets the man had atop his person indicated he was poor or really, really cold. Or maybe he had security issues, and the blankets made him feel that he was okay? Either way. He sits back on his heels, for a moment then rather quickly his right hand covers the sleeper's mouth while his left hand reached over the man's body and grabbed his left shoulder. His nails dig in and around the vein, finding it between his fingers. The blue standing out among the dark tan of the older man's skin. The man wakes up with the sudden snatching and struggles beneath him, his eyes wide open in terror. Now he leans his waist over the man's stomach and extends his fangs to capture the vein, popping it easily. He sucks, slowly at first. Then it becomes hard to control, and he swallows rather greedily. He was full aware that the man might die, but it was hard to care. The smell of the blood, and the taste were both fantastic in their own way. The fingers of his left hand were massaging the skin where the vein came out of. He could feel the blood bubble through the vein into his mouth. He didn't want to miss a drop, so he swallows the tip of the vein. He wanted it to leak down his throat as he leaned forward to suck from the tissue, itself. Whether a vein pops or not, if someone were to cut themselves, they would still bleed. He peeks at the mess he had created, a smirk tugging on his lips. The man was still writhing underneath him, but he didn't care. A second of feeling passed rather quickly to be replaced with dark numbness. It was hard for him to judge what he was doing, to the core, and decide whether he was in the wrong or not. Especially hard as he was doing it. He feels...feels that his humanity may have died with him, and now he was something else. Something more in the lines of beastly.

Grayson’s intention had been to act as a lookout, but it was impossible not to glance back at the scene. There was nothing weird or dark or particularly cruel to him about the way Kinder acted. The graying homeless man might have been frightened, but there was something unique about vampires when they fed. It was like mesmerisation. A vampire could drink from their prey, seal up the wound, and leave the mortal relatively unharmed, if a bit confused later about the lost time. Of course. Not all vampires liked that. Some preferred to kill their prey. Gray couldn’t have judged if that was what his newly turned childer decided to do, because he’d done much the same with his first meal. He’d torn someone’s head clean off.

After poking his head out of the alley to see if anyone was coming, he stepped back into the darkness of the alley. The human was still struggling, and Grayson leaned in behind Kinder. Close enough that he could smell the blood and almost taste it. His own fangs never went away - they were always present (which could be difficult to work around, and had resulted in a shredded lip on more than one occasion), but most vampires were able to retract their fangs when they were not feeding. “What are you going to do with him?” He asked in a soft whisper against his newly turned progeny’s ear. “Are you going to let him go, or are you going to end him? This is your first and most important choice as a vampire - deciding what you are going to do with your new power.”
