Just my little tidbit on the matter.

I don't actually have doppleganger, but I do have a shadow vampire on Path, and an Allurist with enthrall human 2 on blood.

Honestly it's not all that bad of a power I bet. The problem is more that it's a mastery power but even then it isn't all that awful, except for that it costs 2 million to get the thing to unlock it, and only then the pxp.

1/3 of my current stats, for a character I can automatically swap places with, who can fight and function in gameplay basically as a thrall without clothes, is actually pretty great. Even at only level 17, I could make huge use of this for exp gaining, crafting, money, stealing, and just in general.

Human thralls are fantastic, but in total truth they aren't all that powerful or skilled. I have yet to break into any lock with a thrall, they aren't great at hacking, I've been using mine almost exclusively for either zombie ears, pickup loot, or getting the saphires/emeralds from alonquin caverns. But a doppleganger could break into stuff as long as you get a high enough stat for it, it's basically a pureblood human in terms of leveling up that relies on your actual character to get them.

In gameplay, it's a fantastic power, aside from the two million dollar price. It just happens to not be the easiest for everyone's particular style, and doesn't provide a lot of rp content to work with unlike thralls do. Admittedly it may not seem like the most enticing, but if you use it right I'm sure it could be pretty cool.

They can steal. So can a thrall.
They can attack. So can a thrall.

I guess I am not seeing the mastery level point of them. Its a black being that will stand out to humans..so you would have hide them, is what I am getting. Is that right?

They are high maintenance because you have feed them every day... Human thrall you dont.

I rather liked the idea of a look alike, because I can see the benefit of that. Alibis, dopple attending that horrid business meeting you didnt want to attend... Messing with girlfriend's mind..

Nope they can't speak. You wouldn't necessarily have to hide them from humans, because the masq is broken anyway.

Some people won't find the value in certain powers. But for others, they are finding doppel to be one of the best powers. They do have quite a lot of uses.

Is it 1/3 of all stats? So skills and attributes?

Yep. Plus the swap with master power, plus the hide in shadows power. Plus the ability to do certain skill related things that human and wraith thralls can't. Plus the ability to feed on humans, which can be used in combat technically. Once enchanted weapons are a thing, they pack a bit of a punch if you equip them right.

I personally don't think the ability to use what is essentially a low-level alt to help you out is something that people can take for granted, as it means you get a constant supply of materials and cash without using any energy with your actual character. But it all depends on what you're after. Some people value RP things above all else, and some people are primarily interested in doing damage to enemies with lightning strikes etc. My thinking with the first shadow mastery power was that shadows might be more interested in sneaking and sending minions / assassins off to do their dirty work and amassing power from the shadows.

Well, I’m glad to know I now don’t have to ask you if a roleplay idea I had for this would work now. >.>
