Salt in the wounds( open)

Post by Aden-OCarrol »

Aden had spent the rest of the day in his healing trance After his last fight with the paladins that night before. While he was in his trancelike state and his body was healing his mind began to roll over the events of the day and how badass he was as well. Then he begain to wonder how he could put a little bit more salt on the wounds of the people that attacked him. He couldn't help himself that began to enthrall him all day the entire time he was in his healing trance. His mind just kept rolling this idea over and over his head A little bit later that night he woke up suddenly. He had come out of his healing trance and he had an idea.

He jumped out of bed and ran to the shower got his body all cleaned up and bandaged the scar around his neck then put on a turtleneck to hide it a little bit. Being that he was quite frigid outside he figured no one would pay much attention to it at all. Like normal he did his maintenance to his beard without being able to see it in the mirror which he had gotten pretty good at after a year of not being able to see himself. He got himself dressed in his normal attire genes steel toed riding boots. A black T-shirt with some cool tribal designs on it and red.

Which were all brand-new clothes, he had to go shopping not too long ago been that he had grown several more inches and his old stuff didn't fit quite right. Aden had to get a new leather jacket just like his old one. He tossed on his leather jacket with a smile .grabbing his keys making his way out the door behind him and then getting on his bike and going for a ride.

Aden made his way to the nearest 24-hour store one of those where has the pharmacy a little bit of everything mostly those places you go to get stuff when you're sick and a few other items while you're in there. He made his way over to the section that had the cards went over to the get well section until he found some basic cards that just said get well soon with a little teddy bear on them. He grabbed three envelopes three cards swing by another aisle and grabbed a red pen.

He quickly made his way up to the counter as he was so excited he could probably explode. He quickly paid for his stuff in cash . The the lady atcash register the seemed a bit suspicious but he was able to sweet talk her a little bit. Saying that he worked a second shift job and just got off and his buddies were in the hospital from a gang shooting and he wanted to grab them some get well cards. She thought he was quite sweet she even put her number on the back of the receipt.

Aden made his way over to his bike he knew the hard part was going to be making it from there to the hospital not getting any unwanted attention with any of the soldiers that were now wandering around helping keep the peace as they called it or any of the trigger-happy cops were just looking for someone to shoot.

Being real cautious about where he went with his bike being slow but was not going to slow. Taking some of the back roads that not many people used in the right places as he made his way up towards Harper Rock General. he was lucky and able to make it there without a hitch. Greatest thing about this time of night there wasn't that many people in the parking so he was able to find a spot pretty close to the entrance knowing that he was gonna have to find a way to sweet talk his way from the emergency room to probably closer to ICU front desk if he could get his plan to work.

10.01.17 at 2:30 am

As he figured out how he was going to pull this whole little scheme off he decided that he should probably write a personal thank you on the cards. So he reached into his little saddlebag and pulled out the first card holding it in his hand with his red pen and other he sat there for a second thinking.

" Come on Red ....." Then an idea popped into his head. And he quickly began to write it down. He couldn't help himself he was smiling so hard he could probably win a contest with the Kool-Aid man at this point putting that card and envelope pulling out the other and doing the exact same thing until he finished all three of the envelopes. He stayed there for a few seconds sitting on his bike he still had his helmet on. He closed his eyes and begin to concentrate he picked out a face from one of the hotels across town that he had stated in about a week he remembered the guy that was in the room next to him about the same build he began to concentrate on the man's face as he slowly began to change until their face matched.(Changeling) once he was completely sure that he had made the change and it felt like everything was perfect his mental image of the men was completely clear and he felt that it was completely right. He slowly took off his helmet touching his face going that he no longer had his beard his nose was a good bit bigger than his jawline had changed. He figured the rest of the features in his mind matched eye a well.

He slowly got off his bike taking all three cards in his envelope and slowly strolled over towards the door to the emergency room as he got closer let out a soft little dash getting to the doors and kind of beeline for the nurse's desk.

" I know this is not an actual emergency," he said quite quickly to the nurse sitting at the desk before she looked up. Doing his best to look quite frantic and if he was in a hurry and he was really upset all at the same time." I work like a second third graveyard shift and I working 14 hours a day because we're doing overtime. three of my friends were brought into the hospital earlier today of fatal gunshot wounds and I'm pretty sure there in the ICU. I don't go up there and bother them or cause any bit of a ruckus but if you let me up there so I can take" holds up the three cards" I'll just run up there and give the nurse at the nursing station these cards let them know who therefore and she or he could deliver them to them for me. I'll just disappear because I got to actually go sleep running go back to work in a few hours. They got the contract in their having us work us to death. I know is most likely against policy promise I won't do anything or make anything happen I'll even make sure that I come back by the front desk on my way back down so that you know that I was just in there for less than 20 to 30 minutes".

He really wishes that he had the glamour powers right about now but knew that probably wasn't going to happen as this would make this so much easier. He wonders if Kira would approve, or what Doc would say.

Aden did his best to revoke tired and frantic not like he was on drugs more like he was just really nervous and really worried about his friends. Knowing that he didn't have fangs and wishing that he could've looked in the mirror gave her the cutest smile that he could. It worked!

The nurse said " Well I could maybe," " Please, I evening bring the whole staff food even in Icu."

She looks at him thinks for while " Deal I want a ..." She then asked the rest of staff came back with a list. The called up to the Icu you asked the added to the list. She handed it to him

Aden walked back to his bike and drove down to the 24-hour dinner. Gaven them the list. Awaited for while and chef hand one hell of a day in the back. he had wait for 40 mins before he got the food walked out with a crap ton of bags and hooked all of them to the handlebars of his bike when really really slow. on his way back. Thank goodness the dinner was right bu the hospital.

Carrying all the back he goes back in and puts them on the counter with the letters." A deal is a deal." Aden walks back out know the letters would make it.

The cards

The cards are a plain white card that has a little teddy bear on the front holding a balloon that says get well soon

When you open the card written in red ink it says.

Hey, so I'm pretty sure you know I'm not one of your friends. And I'm pretty sure you know who this is. If you got the balls let's go for round two, one-on-one me and you. Because only bitches gang up on people.

And thank you guys for helping me score a turkey all three of you went down like little pussies.

Oh and by the way Rest well knowing I be waiting.

The card in the nurse's gloved hand flipped over once it was read in silence for a second time. It was disturbing to think such a thing could actually be in front of her very own eyes. Her focus shifted briefly to the unconscious patient hooked to various machines and lifelines monitoring his status. Relief found her with the sounds of steps coming up behind her. She turned to discover the one she called for had arrived while she wore the expression of disbelief. The nurse blinked and extended her hand that held what was meant for the patient in the bed that occupied the room. A shake of her red head was met with the rise of the doctor’s brow as his gloved hand took over the task of holding the card and took the opportunity to give it a closer look.

“Thank you.” Dr. Ramirez brown eyes lifted from the card, to the patient then to the nurse. The Madrid transplant looked intolerant of what was taking place at the expense of his patient. “Let’s step outside. Security has been called and the police are on the way. Do you have any other items that arrived with this?” He reached for a trans-pak sterile biohazard bag and dropped what he was given inside. A soft knock on the door frame had both turning to discover the uniformed officers standing in the doorway. The doctor and the nurse stepped through the widening space courtesy of the officers stepping to each side.“We can discuss this outside. I want this room guarded.” The door closed behind them. “I don’t care what it takes. I want this whole damn floor checked out. His wife is here. His brother." The doctor looked at the security personel as well as the officers.
“We have some detectives coming up right now.” The officers looked to the hospital security. “You all sit tight.”

“I'm going to need to have all of tonight's video surveillance sent to our office. You'll want to contact this guy and let him know who you are and what you've got. He'll be expecting your call.” A card was given to the security personnel before the detective looked at the three cards in the bag. All the same style, with the same handwriting, with the same words.

“Anyone ever seen the three that came in with some pretty serious wounds?” The detective turned his head to the nurse and then the doctor. Both shook their heads, before another nurse; the one taking care of Esli chirped up. “I've never seen them, but he was here about two weeks ago. With his wife. Never saw the brother. Both shot. In their charts, paramedics stated they came from that military compound. The one that was under siege by vampires.”

This had the detective's interest. So much, he grabbed a small notebook and started jotting down some notes. “Really?” She nodded her head. “Well, they're obviously not vampires, so either they're military, or they were helping. Met the wrong people; wrong vampires, maybe.” She suggested with a shrug of her shoulders, before he commented without much thought and his typical poker face. “Maybe. Back to these cards. Whoever this person is, which hopefully security logs will give us a bigger clue.” He glanced to the first police officer that had arrived on the scene, before giving orders. “For now, I'm assigning you to the sister's room. No one, outside of staff with a badge gets in. Hell, I don't even want the housekeeping lady in there. Only people who need to be in there to keep them alive.”

The officer nodded his head and made a move towards the short corridor where Lasair's room was. “I'll talk to the three of them, when they're all awake. For now, I've got to get these down to our lab and start doing some DNA processing. Oh, that reminds me, I'll need anyone's prints who touched this card or envelope to rule out them being suspects. I'll have her...” He pointed to an officer standing watch near the entry doors of the ICU, “Take care of that. I'll need everyone. The person who first got the card, the nurse who was reading it and anyone else.” He told doctor and the security guard, who nodded and moved to go talk to the woman at the entrance of the ICU.

“That's it for now. I think. I'll be in touch.” The detective said to the doctor and the nurse, while he pocketed his notebook and stuffed it back in his suit coat pocket. After it was secured, he buttoned up his coat, and headed out of the hospital. From there, he dropped the cards off at the lab, asking for the woman in the lab to start with DNA collection from the licked envelopes. Then fingerprints. From there, to get in contact with the company and get a list of retailers the card company had cards at. Anything and everything to get a lead. “I'm going to go see if this 'Bearded BadAss' guy exists in our records. I've never heard of him, but who knows. Long night it seems. Some tapes should be coming this way from the hospital for Jim. Make sure he gets them pronto. Good thing the coffee is always fresh around here.” He grumbled, before heading upstairs to his desk to begin his work.

Meanwhile:

Lance Corporal Michael Rivera had been keeping tabs on the guy who had remained in the military compound long after the fight had ended. He had been curious why someone would hang around, and had went from floor to floor to try and remove anything that the general public shouldn't have access to. Most of everything had been cleared out, or damaged, but he had got his fingers on a couple of things. Nothing about the cure, but names of people who worked there. Died there. He planned on visiting some of human family members and paying his respects to them in the next few weeks.

But, when he was sure the guy had his hands on the cure, the vampire soldier made this guy his main concern. The dead could wait for a while. What was this guy going to do with the vial in his possession? The vampire remained in the shadows, watching the human male. He didn't go many places. The hospital first, to visit his brother. He had heard the entire conversation between the two of them. Seen the vial and the USB drive. Proving he had been the one to get the cure. Heard how he was going to make more of it; with the reason why, still unknown. After the visit he went back to the compound and was a sitting duck for a while. Had a conversation with someone on his phone about the cure. Whatever was said on the other end, made the guy happy. Things had been put into play. He met the wrong vampire in the abandon sewers a few nights later and was now here. The guy was smart in some respects, but an idiot in others. It made the corporal shake his head, but he wasn't going to interject. He had a call out to his superiors and they didn't want him to do anything yet. Just keep an eye on the guy.

He was coming back from grabbing a bag of blood from the store by the hospital when he entered the elevator with some guy. The corporal didn't pay him any attention, or slip from the shadows he was in, while they rode the elevator up to the ICU. When it opened, he waited for the guy to step off, and then quietly stepped off after him. Hopefully he was family, so he could get inside without any issues. Otherwise, he'd have to wait for a staff member. Who knew how long that would take?

It didn't take long for the soldier to realize just who this guy was talking about. The human with the cure was in here, then his brother not long after. Followed by the wife of the brother. He knew them all, just from appearances from the night he came to visit the both of them to gloat about his findings. When the 'visitor' left, so did the vampire soldier. Following him for as long as he could while covered in the shadows around him.

Four hours later:

The detective picked up the phone with a brief “yallow?” It's Patricia from the lab. I got some news about the DNA and fingerprints. After cross referencing the staff and removing them, there was only one set of prints. No DNA on the envelope, which is a little weird given they had been sealed shut. I'm running the prints in the data base now, but on a good note, the cards? It comes from a small company, not something like Hallmark. So good news is, I was able to track down seven stores in Canada that sells their product. Three in Harper Rock. I'll email you the list of names and you can go from there?” She asked, hoping to hear what good work she did. She might be a lab person and never want to be in the field completely, not like the detective, but she felt as if she were a critical part of the team. Because, she was! “Nice work.” He said with a grin. Finally, they were getting somewhere. He checked his email, wrote down the three names and started with the place that was open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Minus holiday's the woman behind the counter claimed after their discussions about cards and video surveillance from the store....

Aden smirked knowing that even if the police get the cards and look for fingerprints they're gonna have a really bad day.It was worth the surgery many years ago, there are lots of things about his past that no one knows not even his sire hopefully keep it that way. And when they look on camera and check for his license plate on his bike it's really gonna piss them off. Since is going to be one of the local school buses license plate that was stolen about a week ago.

He has a habit of changing the license plate on his bike on a regular basis it something he picked up since he is no longer technically living even before he came undead. Sometimes when you disappear you have to make sure that you completely disappear and stay that way.

Aden still in disguise makes his way from the hospital down to the Golden line casino so that he can make sure that the face he changed into would be seen by millions of cameras. He's there for about two hours gambling making sure that he's seen moving from different sets of slots. He hits the blackjack table and the craps table for a little bit he doesn't do well he actually probably loses about $4000 that night.

Once he leaves there he drives out of town making sure that he drives a good distance before disappearing pulling the bike over. Taking his bike off the road and disappearing into the woods a good bit. He first gets off then undoes his license plate puts it in one of the saddlebags pulls out another license plate and puts it on the back of his bike. Pulls out a pair of pants and boots. Take some a few minutes in the frigid cold weather to completely change into them to have a completely different style than the ones he was wearing and color. He takes off his leather jacket puts in his saddle back and pulled out another little jacket that looks completely different to that one changing jacket being a little bit passed off how cold it was but hey it was worth it.

He knows he cants go back to his hotel room and check out again with this face since apparently, this is going to be really confusing when I find this body dead and has been dead for apparently about a week.
Getting back on his bike driving. pushing it back up to the road driving about another 20 minutes before he pulled back off again disappearing with his bike off the road. Walking down where he had stashed the guys face he had turned into and his the bike and his dead body. Aden was glad it was so cold out here because the body was still in pretty good condition the guy was butt naked so this was going to be kind of funny since he made sure that he laid the pants not too far from them rip them up a little bit and shoes as well. Took the leather jacket setting it over his chest. Then reached back into the saddlebag and pulled out a spray can then on the back of the jacket he wrote: "**** the paladins".

He purposely made sure that he left footprints with his shoe showing that he came there and left doing his best to leave the best footprint he could possibly leave.

He drove around by the voodoo café making his way around the back by the dumpster purposely dropping the two shoes reaching back and settle back pulling out a blood back that he had then poured over the shoes and on the ground around so that would deftly catch someone's attention.

He made his way back out to his bike pushed it back up onto the road didn't drive back into town until and tell about an hour before sunrise checked in to one of the towns most of these hotels with a don't even check your license all they care about is if you give them the upfront cash. The room was horrible but work for one day.

“How about this?” The sharpness of the object in the doctor’s hand finishing up at the bottom of the paladin’s feet failed to deliver the result that she hoped for. A sudden and audible clink echoed as the weight of it landed on the stainless steel. A roll of the waist high portable instrument tray beside her drifted a few feet to the right of her as intended courtesy of the effort of her right hand that sent it that direction. She relieved the irritation of an itch building at the back of her neck with the sweep of her fingertips over the spot. “Something has to reach you.”

Soft words uttered in frustration floated over the bedside and down to the body beneath her as she reached over it. She pulled the print out strips from the continuous feed. Her hands rolled up the length of paper and tucked them under the safe bite of the clip on the temporary hard chart in her hands. A glance to the monitors beside her confirmed her suspicions.

“I see you in there, Esli.” The dance of her pocket signaled her pager going off. Checking out what it had to say reminded her of a conference that was needing her attendance and about to start without her. “I will be back in an hour.”

As the door opened an officer turned to acknowledge her while she made her way around the chair he was seated in. Once the door was released from her hand he leaned in enough to do a visual check on the one he was assigned to keep an eye on for the remainder of his sixteen hours on duty. The door sank into the frame and the officer shrugged with little invested in what was left in limbo in the private room behind him.

Not to say he was happy with the rapidly growing vampiric presence. He never really was. Especially after his college graduate nephew showed up at a reception the year before with an overbite that could bust open a can of whoop-*** like nobody's business. It was his brother’s kid and was what it was. Given a little time he developed somewhat of a tolerance like anyone else. Still he didn’t trust them farther than he could throw one. He told his brother and nephew as much.

So all of that had him sitting on his *** instead of riding around in his patrol car doing the district laps earning himself the free cup of coffee and fresh doughnuts. It was the dirty little secret the family didn't talk about even if one of them wrote a book about it all. He didn’t trust the other team either. The modern day warriors super sized with powers that no mortal man was born with also had him second guessing where the world was heading. The paladins under the police force’s protection currently were known to be involved in that whole urban war in a building supposedly holding some cure. The talked about God and sin but really from what he heard they were more like religious fanatics running around like Rambo and demonstrating even the undead had their own predators to worry about. A rattle of keys alerted the officer succumbing to deep thought out of lack of choice of anything else to do.

“I got him covered. You are free to run.” The scent of consumed coffee filled air as he stood next to the occupied chair waiting for it to be up for grabs. “Any sign of him coming around yet?”
“Nope.” A rise of his body allowed him to shake out his stiff legs that couldn’t carry him more than three blocks in a full sprint before he would need to take a breather. “But the doctor seems to think he is going to come out of it despite how badly he was beaten. Anyone hunting down a building swarming with those is not paddling with both oars in the water. They aren’t like us you know. Really they aren’t totally far off from the fanged freaks they be trying to gang bang into oblivion.”
“You have issues, man. Or you missing the sugar fix you would have had three hours ago. How is Henry’s boy doing anyway?” The chair had a new occupant as he sat down.
“I said to keep that **** quiet.” A glare was given as the officer relieved of his post disappeared down the endless hallway.

Back inside the room the monitors continued to do their expected tasks while the brain of a paladin slowly freed itself of the confines of severe trauma. First it was the echoes of the words spoken outside the door that hooked him. The beeping of unanswered call lights going longer than they should. A lulling of the sheets beneath him hissing as he stirred. None of this was quite enough to fully draw him out but the ominous sensation that danger was approaching certainly was. It was much the same as that sensory overload he was subjected to in the building. He couldn’t stay trapped any longer.

“La…” The first sound of his voice hitched in a sudden silence. Why was half the room dark and the other half shockingly bright?

Lance Corporal Michael Rivera watched the guy get on the back of a motorcycle and noticed instantly that the plates just didn't match up. Being an avid cycle lover and owning one himself, he snorted and shook his head. Cops were everywhere in the city, an the dumb **** was running around with a plate that was too big for his bike. Assuming it was his bike. The Lance Corporal reached into the side pocket of his camo pants and grabbed his phone. After pushing a few buttons, it started ringing. "Hi. I'd like to report a potential stolen plate, or motorcycle. Maybe both." After answering a few questions, he gave the description of the bike and the guy on it, before hanging up and heading back inside the hospital. There was no way for him to track a motorcycle down, and he wasn't even going to try. But, he got a goo look of the guy and knew who to keep an eye out for, should he come back this way again.

Meanwhile:

The first store had been a bust, but the second seemed promising. The detective had shown the woman behind the counter a picture of one of the cards, and she nodded her head. "Yeah. I remember those cards. I thought it was weird he was buying three of them, but after talking to him, he seemed like a nice guy. I've sold people stranger things. One time I sold a guy some dog biscuits, whipped cream and a Marvin Gaye Cd. I don't ask many questions, sir." She said with a shake of her head.

"Do you have video surveillance in this store?" She nodded and pointed to the front door, then to the camera to the right of her, focused on the counter. "And one back by pharmacy. Druggies always trying to pull some slick **** back there. Stealing drugs or whatever else they can get their hands on." The detective nodded his head, then pulled out his notebook. "Did the guy who bought the cards have a beard?" He asked, wondering if the guy she was talking about, was the same guy he was talking about. "He did." "Think you could have a sketch artist draw a comparison for us? He's a very dangerous man, mam. He put three people in the hospital. You're lucky he was so nice to you.If we're talking about the same guy, that is." She looked around, somewhat nervously, then shook her head. "He was so polite. I never would have guessed."

"That's what everyone says. But look at what Dhamer's neighbor's said about him." The detective pointed out, before pointing to the cameras in the place. "I'm going to need those video tapes too. I can call your boss if you would like, but the sooner, the better. "I'll call Mr. Martinez now." She offered before moving to the telephone behind the counter and punching in her boss' telephone number. "I'm sorry to bother you at home, sir, but there is a detective here who needs out tapes. He's looking for a serial killer that came by here last night." She all but shrieked into the phone, even at the detective's protest and raised arms. "Mam, I never sa-"

"Yes, I can patch you through to Walter. One second."
The woman behind the counter said into the phone as she set it down and moved to get a walkie talkie near her register. "Walter." She waited a few seconds, then more loudly, "WALTER." Into the devices, before he replied with a bitter, "I can hear you, you know!" "Mr. Martinez is on the phone. He wants to speak with you about a surveillance request from last night." Path him through!" He barked into the device, as she did just that. About twenty minutes later, the detective left with two video tapes, and the woman behind the counter who had been replaced by 'Betty,' so that she could see the sketch artist at the station.

Aden slowly wakes up from his daily slumber. Makes his way over to his bug out bag pulls out what he needs does his morning routine. Like always out of habit he stands in front of the near taking care of his beard. Once he was done with his beard there was a bit of a smirk on his face as he made his way back to the crummy hotel bed.Digs through his bug out bag and pulls out another cell phone. It's a throwaway that he had activated the day before, then reaches back into his bag pulls out a small notepad flips through coupes pages to pages with two numbers on it.

Wonder if she'll pick up better text her first. "Dearg, Burn phone incoming call". He sits there and waits for about 30 sec's before he makes the call. Aden wonders if she'll pick up especially since he doesn't call it often and she always moans the calls when he is in trouble.

" Hey Valkyrie, so you remember those punks guys that attacked me yeah the one that I killed all three of them in one day ....... Yeah, so you gonna say what I did was stupid but it's hilarious. Most likely the police are on the case now and we should probably sit see some more the paladins that are hiding come out with this one. I went and got three cards made sure it got to them or close enough that they would know the contents of them. I would bet the police are looking for who they think is me at the moment. What have some Fun?....."
