So -- as a sorcerer, Megan needs to activate a power at least once per 24 hours to get PXP.
You already have active status bonuses today.
Recently, she's been getting dexterity ++ from random shields, and has thus been unable to activate the powers herself. This means that I've been missing out on over a week of PXP... because each time I log on, she's been shielded once again.
Is there a way to dispel the effects of someone else's power? It doesn't seem fair that a character who is required to use powers for PXP cannot because of something beyond their control.
I'm moving her to another meditation square where she'll be alone and will be able to activate her power freely, but it really seems like an epic downside for sorcerers considering blood thieves simply need to be fed (blood strength) and paladins just get PXP.
I wasn't around way back when, so I wouldn't know. I could be simplifying things. My only paladin has yet to get into any tiffs (looking forward to it though), so I've not had a day where her blood has dipped below full and she hasn't gotten PXP. That said, everyone seems to be dancing the kumbaya these days, so maybe in a darker age there was more to being a classed human than there is now >> And sorcerers had it easier than blood thieves and paladins after all. I don't know...
That said. I wonder what would happen if Megan activated her rock skin and then was subjected to a telepathic shield. Would she still benefit from dexterity upgrade then? If so, then it makes no sense for her to be unable to use her powers if it accumulates the other way around...
"Paladins
For Paladins, PXP is gained at day change if the character's remaining anima is 6 or greater at that time."
Which is easy as I'll get out by the way, it means you can literally do nothing and get pxp. And a lot of Paladin powers that I prefer to use, don't take enough anima to make this any sort of serious issue. (Unless somebody hates and keeps causing you to have to restore blood points, which is a power that takes anima)
For sorcerers:
"Sorcerers
For Sorcerers, PXP is gained at day change if anima has been expended during that previous day. Anima can be spent via the 'use power' (the lightning bolt) on the right side of your grid screen. If anima is expended via use of battle power (when fighting an NPC or battle to the death with a PC), this also counts towards PXP gain. If any anima has been used on a power prior to day change, the sorcerer will gain 1 PXP at day change."
Yeah, my only sorcerer character (Charles Crafter) Still only has four powers, and they're the two bottom and the two over that. He might have doubled up on one or two, I don't remember, but compared to literally every other class or vampire path I've used it moves very slowly.
I voted yes just because I think it's possible a better method would make sorcerers actually more enjoyable. But I think it's up for debate.
I've been monitoring this with Gretchen (paladin) and Megan (sorcerer), and while Gretchen's maxed out her powers and gone onto dual class. Megan's hardly finished acquiring her 2nd tier of powers, and has been around far, far longer than Gretchen [16 Nov 2016 vs 10 March 2017]. I can leave Gretchen parked in a meditation square and gain exp/pxp on days I'm out for the count, meanwhile, Megan doesn't get any pxp unless I log her in and make her use anima. Which, I get could be deemed equivalent to vampires login in and drinking blood to get their PXP every day change, but compared to the other classed humans, it renders playing a sorcerer disadvantageous.
There really is little incentive to play sorcerers on grid. Considering they are the ones who are heavily involved in the creation of paladins, I too believe there needs to be a shift. Paladins get pxp for doing nothing, and blood thieves can eventually power up so that they only need to feed every 14 days. And if someone else, as pointed out in the first post of this thread, has inspired or used a power on my sorcerer, she can't go ahead and use her powers to gain PXP.
There should at least be an option to be shielded from other people's powers, if not a change in PXP acquisition.
I think it's different, and I prefer it. I've never had an issue gaining PXP on Saorise. I've had her since December 2016, and she's gathered all the powers on sorcerer that she wants [approx. 10] and is sitting on 41 PXP as of today. She had a lot more, but I tend to use PXP to boost her experience to help level. Currently, I'm not touching it, and instead I'm saving it up - as well as cash - to get her mastery, and it's not been an issue in gaining. I literally log on, hit rock skin, log off if I don't want to move her. If I do move her, as soon as I hit one enemy, she's gained her PXP for the day.
As I mentioned before, I prefer the difference. I don't want all of the paths to have the same methods of gaining things. I like that sorcerers have to use their abilities in order to grow in strength, because it fits the style. They're in-tune with nature, so it would make sense that in order to continue to grow, they'd have to use their magic in one form or another. There are ways to gain PXP, you just have to work for it, which is why I like it, I guess. If someone inspires you, move into a building that suits your level, and battle an enemy. If someone doesn't, then you can use rock skin. :)
As for just sitting there and gaining pxp on paladins, it's not always that easy, either. Sometimes, I use more PXP on Sawyer than normal and I won't gain that PXP, because there's no other way - unless I move her to spend the cash on anima. Which, I've also been known to do! xD
In the end, I just love the gameplay for both classes. They're amazingly fun to play, and once you get it figured out, you can take full advantage of the class and all it has to offer!

I happen to really like the way sorcs gain their PXP. In my experience, a power used in battle is more than enough to meet the anima expense requirement. To me, that means a person has to be active daily to get daily PXP, which I think is how it should be. PXP is meant to be a reward for frequently logging into your character over an extended period of time, and reflects a character's 'age'.
If anything, I personally think that if there are situations where not logging into and not moving characters (at least a little bit, such as gaining 1 blood), achieves the same benefits as doing those things, it's the classes that don't require as frequent gameplay that should be modified.
I'm all for easy gameplay (especially for newer players), but vampires for example (save for those with a really high healing score or Armlet of Blood Buffing), all need to be logged into and moved daily to get daily PXP. To me, that should be the standard of difficulty across the board, otherwise playing humans is going to get a lot easier than playing vampires (especially since humans don't have to feed daily at all). Just my thoughts on the matter.
Game balance, to me, is more important than making things super, super easy.
I'LL USE YOU AS A WARNING SIGN THAT IF YOU TALK ENOUGH SENSE THEN YOU'LL LOSE YOUR MIND
I've had Syler the same amount of time that Lana had had Soarise, and he's been doing more than okay, considering the amount of effort I've put into playing him.
The paladins are easy to gain pxp for in times of peace. Now more than almost ever is an opportune moment for any paladin or anti-vampire character of whatever class to be up and about, declaring war. There is a small collective of paladins already doing such a thing after the Longslade assault. If you're doIng any kind of fighting on the grid, then anima is a very precious commodity. It is the literal fuel to your fire.
Kensai, right off the top is 3 anima. DT is 6. Turn Undead is 3 per cast, Incitement is 2. If you're a smaller group of paladins going up against vampires at large, then banking 6 anima isn't really viable. So yeah, usually paladins have it easy. But even a little bit of pvp will make that pxp a very low priority. They're the only class punished for being TOO active.
