She listened intently and with great focus, as for the first time since she'd come to Harper Rock, she'd finally heard some semblance of an explanation to it all. To all the days of madness and suffering. Despite the decrepit surroundings they still found themselves in, the whole conversation was far too illuminating to be placing her attention elsewhere. She nodded at the explanation of the Old Code, understandingly and almost appreciatively. It made sense, and she'd figured that a hierarchy and rules of secrecy as such must've been the reason that vampires were still here, at all.
She frowned comprehensively when Charles spoke of the 'little sharing of information' and throwing newspawn to sink or swim on their own, for she'd been through this pain and horror, and with it... came the other side of her. Though she was not quite ready to divulge the other presence within her mind, and the growing darkness stirring between her thoughts, looking for a foothold. Madness was never a favorable trait among humans, and she presumed it was less so among vampires. Even so, she debated asking Charles about insanity related to vampirism as there seemed to be a pause in the telepathic messages, though she fell silent when he spoke about the wilderness. The warning came with a flashback of the day she was turned, a day of overwhelming information, both sensory and otherwise. The day she'd drained a poor man to death, and tried to hide the body in the woods, only to encounter even more dreadful creatures, the wendigo's of the nearby woods. This very moment felt a little bit like that day, only far calmer, with time to process what had been going on.
"I-... thank you, Charles-... err, 'Doc'. I must admit I've never freely spoken about the... -feeding-. It was very difficult in the beginning, and even now something still feels... wrong. Perhaps your suggestion will... help, with that." she stated, hoping it was enough of an answer to not divulge the full meaning behind it all. The truth was that she loathed the feeding, she loathed this condition in full. Though Charles' suggestion was curious. Perhaps the blood bags he'd referred to would help to quell the darker side of her when her fangs would pierce a living creature. Though really, she did not want to feed at all. Fighting this darkness had always been an uphill battle, and was only becoming worse with time. "And yes, I've been in the wilds, for a bit... I encountered what I believe to be a Wendigo, though thankfully others were present. That encounter, as well as this fadebeast and now talk of Fae creatures, as I'm talking to a telepathic vampire tranformed into a puma... well, suffice to say I'm a lot less skeptical than I used to be. Not to mention I've had an odd visitor to the museum asking about specific magic. Makes one wonder what other myths in the world are real..." her eyes seemed to dart past the puma, glancing at something that wasn't there, before turning her attention back to Charles. "... thank you, sincerely, for explaining a few things to me. I am one of these 'fledgelings' you spoke of, with no idea whom my 'sire' is, or was. Though I've managed to survive this far, even with a few hiccups... no doubt you'd heard of the 'Corner Café Hacker', well... that was me, taking camera footage from places all around Harper Rock in order to find information on vampiric or other occult phenomena. Though I didn't exactly account for the good security, nor for telepathic vampires. Could've been worse, though. I never meant to meddle with anyone's profits, however..." she said admittingly, rubbing her brow with a soft sigh as she looked back on it. "... or piss off my old boss...", she'd muttered afterwards.
As she was collecting her thoughts, her hands slowly went to the items she'd procured from the motel room, in particular the one wrapped in leathers, opening the wrappings and inspecting whatever lay within, currently out of Doc's sight."I think at least one future goal I've set before myself is to not be as stingent with information as other vampires. Well, at least -to- other vampires. I hate to push the whole 'us against them' thing, but I don't think humans were quite ready to know about vampirism, yet. How did vampire secrecy end, anyways? I feel like I got the short end of it, not having a great chance at secrecy, anymore." she asked Charles curiously, her mind slowly filling with many questions that had begun to pour out. This was the sort of thing she did best, gathering information and connecting the dots. This lucky stroke of a vampire openly willing to talk about things was but the beginning of her journey to truly understanding it all...
