The burglary system has been refined somewhat, and stealth takedowns are now possible. In some ways the system is now easier, but in other ways it's harder. It should balance out overall.
Guards now show the direction in which they are facing. If they are facing in your direction, they'll spot you from 2 tiles away instead of 1. However, if you are able to creep up behind them they can no longer spot them even if you are 1 space away from them. Hiding behind walls will also work, until the guard / cop is parallel to you once more (they can spot you if you are 1 space to the left or right of the direction you are facing). All in all, you should be able to intuitively work out where you should be able to hide from them and where they'll logically be able to see you. However, please keep an eye out for bugs with this.
In addition, you can now silently take down a guard or a cop if you are direction behind them and they are facing the other way. Doing this will not kill them, so you will not lose any experience points, and neither will you trip alarms.
The stealth updates are intended to pave way for the forthcoming tomb raiding and assassination systems, and will play a role in the soon-to-follow chapter.
