People who either don't play or have business in Red square

Post by Natsuko »

I feel that a clean up should be in hand where a player has quit, or someone who hasn't played in a year given time should have their red square removed in River view market, and honey mead to give the new ones a chance to have something also this goes towards any apartments or tailors parks. Just saying.

I can see this for deleted characters, but not inactive ones. People come and go and it's not fair to take away something they may have spent RL money on (or their time if they paid in coin).

Why not buy your own red square on the grid? There is space.

Also, any karma owned building should not be sold. I'm sure David said karma bought buildings won't ever be sold or deleted.

If you want a building in honeymead or river whatever, you could do what I do and put a public inquiry on this board seeing if someone will sell their building. Food for thought

Personally, I find it rude and in bad taste if this happens, because generally when my character does a business or I buy a building, there's something personal behind it. A character can be deleted, yes, but what if the player had died and there are players still in the game using it as a memorial? There was once a time where you didn't have to buy karma in the game to get a building, but people used coin for karma exchanges.

Not to mention, as someone who had to take time away for personal reasons for an extended time, I would actually be very angry if someone did that to me. It was my money, my choice to put something into a game that I love. That shouldn't be overlooked because someone wants a square.

Yeah, that's true. I actually liked that aspect about RB. Properties/areas never being sold and sort of used as a memorial when a player died irl. I think if a player has paid karma for something, it just remains-regardless of if they leave or just take a break from a character for x amount of time.

I think apartments that are for igc are automatically put up...but then again, maybe not. I think david has to do it manually and it's probably been a while since he did that.

Well, it was just a thought.. and wanted to see the reflection everyone had on it. But, ya I can relate to the ones who come and go but those who just got deleted and what have you and I already bought a red square. So, just saying for anyone else to come in and possible want one in those locations and the likes.. :)

Im of the belief that a player bought item, even if it's bought with real money shouldn't equate to a lifetime slice of an online game. At some point of inactivity even karma bough grid items should be recycled.

And just as an aside Ireally dislike the idea of in game memorials. Just a call out, if I die IRL I really REALLY don't want an IC memorial.

I can't imagine anything less reflective of my online persona. IC is IC. Which has nothing to do with who I am IRL. Make up some ******** RP and all my karma bought stuff can rot :) if that's you're bag, awesome, but for me, it's really squick.

I disagree for a few reasons... firstly, anything that I buy imo means it's bought. Off the market. Once you have my money (or whatever) the deal is closed. Period. Reselling those goods/items again, especially if you are changing it from how *I* (the buyer) had intended it, (ie:name of building) feels a lot like some kind of fruad, imo. Good business practices seem to have changed a lot but I'd like like to hope for the best out of any seller when I'm the buyer.

And then there is the roleplay. Players besides the ones who are these owners that are awol or deceased can and have in many cases used these on grid locations in roleplay and continue to do so. I personally feel that one of the reasons some of us bought public buildings to begin with is because we would like those ic locations to stick around for as long as the game is around. Even if we aren't so lucky. That doesn't mean I did it for the sake of some after death memorial in my honour... 8-X

But even if I did... that would be my business and my money. OR that of those who wished to do so for whatever reasons. Like how I have in memory of some of my lost beloved friends. Remembering the characters they created in games helps keep them alive in some way. At least for me. The same way that some yellow roses by my driveway do. lol :)

If somebody has ever bought karma then their character never gets deleted anyway. So this would only ever happen if they've bought a property for in-game cash and not karma, and then they get deleted due to inactivity.
