Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
Just a couple of things on the subject of the mechanics...
Yeah I seem to remember trying to code it so that if one team hasn't moved at all since the start of the battle, they auto-flee after like 10 turns or something? Am I wrong about that?
Second thing, you could technically have replaced Pi as the only fighter, with a thrall or something. There was an update that allows you to do that some months back.

If you tried, it didn't stick and hasn't for over a year or more. I know of two off my head who never fled. I'm sure they reported it and that's why you decided people could gift their territory, I think. I just know it's been reported in the past a couple times in the past year

Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
It took well over 10 turns without the other sides moving in any of the PVP Territory battles we've done. That's why I posted what options were available ... There has been no time out option for a long time. It always seems to pick the leader and drag them in as well ... I may be wrong on that front because I havnt tried not to list Mortll.

Yeah I've just remembered how it works. If neither team moves, that's when it's supposed to end. I believe I never got around to coding it to make inactive people flee if they haven't once moved.

Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
Well, I'm glad I'm not crazy. I thought that was the case too, so I feel better that you thought it was that way too David, even if it wasn't exactly as I believed in the end.
Good suggestion with the thrall idea! Didn't even think to throw Michael in there to get his brains blown out, that would have been great RP. Poor ********. I guess that would have been an effective Option 5 resulting in agreed outcomes. Hindsight 20/20.
That being said, I'm glad the specifics were clarified, so thanks David. I guess that's that really. Fait accompli.

In respect of this RP, where Mortll hands Doc Pi's body parts:
I specifically said from an IC POV in previous posts given our OOC absence during the territory battle that our group would be playing it that d'Artois willingly gave up the territory.
Just to be clear. From my POV, dArtois handed over the Territory without a fight. And if Doc tries to come to Pi with the finger story, she's going to think he lost his damn mind. You may think you can write what you want about my character, but it requires agreement from me to become a part of her history in truth.
You failed to collaborate with me, and this is the outcome. I absolutely reject your written version of what happened here as anything to do with my character history. You can not, and will not force history on my character. And that's the end from my POV.
Why in hell would anyone compound this debacle by writing an RP like this knowing what was going on in this thread? It blows my mind how people can rationalise this lack of consideration of others, with the transparent excuse of 'but it happened on grid'.

Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
I was not part of the rp, but how can you say that you handed something over without a fight? When in fact Mortll gave you the option to do so, by telling you to PM david and hand it over?
When someone dies on grid, it shows in the alert logs...how is one justifying pi's death?
I would personally like to hear David's .02 cents on this...because if we can pick and choose when people die on grid or not, I'd like that to be known for everyone across the board and to honestly have death taken off the grid side of things permanently. Why have the option when no one has to adhere to a character dying? It's a useless mechanic.

And honestly, I think it's unfair of you to godmod/powerplay my character who in fact killed Pi on grid to say-no she didn't.

Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
I was going to pm you about this but I guess that's a bust now. You are not as easy as represented its pretty complicated.Pi dArtois wrote:Guys, it's all good, really. We really don't mind forfeiting. If at a later date we want to challenge we will, but for reals, two of us will be at work and the rest are sleeping.
I'm just letting you know is all.
So here's the 411:
- yep I know the territorial battle will go ahead, whether dArtois turn up or not
- yep Pi is going to get pulled in bc that's just the way the game is coded
- I will not be choosing champions
- Pi will be by herself
It's not about the actual fight. It's about people and life.
- I suspect this stink timing on our side is my fault cause I had 3-6am chosen as option 3. Which is really not ideal so I'll change that.
- both Chloe and I are working
- So I'm personally not going to make anyone wake up at 4am or 6am when we can't even be there. So I called it.
There is no drama here.
How I expect this will go is you'll need at least one person to turn up, move around for each turn, cause Pi will get kicked out for inaction eventually and then voodoo can win.
In my brain that seemed an easy route to take.
If you want an RP reason: Pi will stand there say "We're not going to fight for this territory, we were only acting as guardians. It is all yours, it is a heavy responsibility."
And then she can whatever poof out.
Or you can pretend no one came and make up whatever you'd like. I'm easy.
You said Pi would show up and stand there ... You said she would not fight ...
We did not choose the option not to fight even if it was just one person .
We use the grid as a rp tool ... much like the dice roller. It is why its there and Territory battles are one of those tools as well.
If you don't want your character killed its quite simple not to hold territory .
Options were given days before the battle to Pm David and ask him to surrender the territory without Pi ever getting killed RP wise or Grid wise .
Now you are saying that we cannot Rp that we killed her even though you had options to have her not killed .
You assumed what you said would be fine and you would dictate what happened.
The rest of us went by what actually happened .
I rped that Mortll handed Doc a finger that she said was Pi's finger
You can interpret that however you want to just as everyone else does . I stand by my Rp .

Re: dArtois Faction Fight - April 2017
I think the primary point is that Puawai wasn't consulted, regardless of what she'd already said here.
Roleplay is about collaboration and communication. Path is now supposed to be roleplay-centric which, as was confirmed back in one of the discussion threads about Blood of the Vampire, means that roleplay > grid, and grid shouldn't always dictate roleplay.
While yes, I do agree that if someone dies on grid then they should die in roleplay -- some grid things should definitely still be taken into account, otherwise there's no point to it -- the argument here is that BOTH sides should have a say in how it went down, agreements made, so everyone's story is kosher and no one's character is being forced to accept something as happening a certain way when the player may have had other ideas. Again, it's about communication.
There were OOC circumstances here that should have alerted the other players that some discussion might be required in regards to IC RP ramifications. Given no communication, it'd be easy enough for Puawai to say that Pi surrendered the territory without argument, peacefully, and Voodoo Dragons killed her without provocation. If that's how Voodoo want to be seen -- undiplomatic and unmerciful -- then I suppose that's how they'll be seen.
Mortll -- that last part she said 'you can assume no one came' and make up whatever you like. Meaning. No one came, no one was killed.
That's how I'm reading this.
