Ok You were going to be challenged for it sooner or later ... Its how the system is if it wasn't Voodoo Dragons It would be someone else .

The time sucks for everyone its 12 midnight for most of voodoo dragons that have to work early the next morning. Getting up to do a battle isn't exactly a good work ethic but it picked that time not all battles are when we want them .

You have options ... Don't name champions Don't show up Pi will be drawn into the battle and will be killed
Don't name champions Show up to Flee and forfeit
PM David and see if he will allow a surrender of territory without a battle
or just show up and fight

Every single one of us have had to deal with these decisions since We gained territory the times aren't ideal people have to work people have to sleep ... But we knew how it was when we got the territory so we do what we can ... If De Artois wants to challenge Voodoo Dragons .... Mortll would say bring it take your best shot .

Guys, it's all good, really. We really don't mind forfeiting. If at a later date we want to challenge we will, but for reals, two of us will be at work and the rest are sleeping.

I'm just letting you know is all.

So here's the 411:
- yep I know the territorial battle will go ahead, whether dArtois turn up or not
- yep Pi is going to get pulled in bc that's just the way the game is coded
- I will not be choosing champions
- Pi will be by herself

It's not about the actual fight. It's about people and life.

- I suspect this stink timing on our side is my fault cause I had 3-6am chosen as option 3. Which is really not ideal so I'll change that.
- both Chloe and I are working
- So I'm personally not going to make anyone wake up at 4am or 6am when we can't even be there. So I called it.

There is no drama here.

How I expect this will go is you'll need at least one person to turn up, move around for each turn, cause Pi will get kicked out for inaction eventually and then voodoo can win.

In my brain that seemed an easy route to take.

If you want an RP reason: Pi will stand there say "We're not going to fight for this territory, we were only acting as guardians. It is all yours, it is a heavy responsibility."

And then she can whatever poof out.

Or you can pretend no one came and make up whatever you'd like. I'm easy.

You guys killed Pi?

Knowing no one was turning up? Knowing I was oOC working? Knowing you could have waited until Pi was kicked out for inaction and won that way?

#airclaps

Such badass gamers you are. Lol guys. You're all just lots of lols.

You are not the first nor the last to be killed for not being around.
You were given options by the faction leader which she didn't have to give you. Most wouldn't have.
You choose your times. Not us. Part of what can happen when you own a tert is potentially dying.

Um.. You do not get kicked out for inaction. That is not how it is set up.

You flee or You Die. Period.

PI dear I adore you but you're acting very immature here. You know the game picks the times of the battles. If you can't make it you can't make it Simple as that. Just challenge her back next month that's all you have to do. I am in Voodoo Dragons and I didn't even show up at the battle last night for i was in bed sleeping. There was no need to cry about it on the forums. You as a Moderator should be better than that. If you feel that I am being rude here. I do apologies it didn't mean to come off like that. :)

Here is my assessment of the two understandings of game mechanics at play here.

Understanding 1: d'Artois (me)
  • Believed there is a game mechanic which allowed for an inactive player to be ejected from a Territory battle after x turns when player is inactive during a territory battle.
  • This then gave opposer (Voodoo) a non-death option for winning battle given they knew the unavoidable ooc circumstances
  • When opposing team (Voodoo) chose to kill character instead it appears to other side (d'Artois) that they ooc chose to ignore the non-death option, which appeared to show a rather large lack of common courtesy for the unavoidable circumstances of the other players.

Thus the tanty on my part. Short and abbreviated though it was.
Understanding 2: Voodoo (others)
  • Believe there were only three options, which they helpfully listed, none of which included the 'non-death option' - because they didn't believe there was one
  • They killed the character, cause they thought that was the only viable option to win territory
  • When opposing team (d'Artois) had a tanty. It would seem to appear that other side (d'Artois - namely me) is over-reacting, and obviously not properly informed with unsubstantiated indignation.
My thoughts given the above:
  • Understanding 1 came about because in a previous territory battle, an player's character was pulled into a territory battle (Cartis). Sadly his player never made it (we think he might have forgotten), and after a few turns (can't remember how many) his character was kicked out and we as a team no longer had to wait the full 2 minutes while the game waited for Cart to move (cause his player wasn't around) and at the time we thought he was kicked out. So there, is the basis for the assumption there was a way to win a territory, without actually killing Pi.
  • Understanding 2: Nothing wrong with understanding 2 at all. And to be fair, since I'm not a gamer, I admit, you guys sound really sure, and our experience above is based on an assumption so I'm not willing to stake life or death on it. IF this is right though, and there was no other option. Then totally mea culpa on my part (I take back my tanty and recant all bad thoughts I had). I really have never given two fucks about Pi dying. Meh. I would have been the first to say 'Just kill her'.
Nothing wrong with being wrong, the key really is to go '****, I might be wrong." And then say 'Sorry'. So here it is. That really was my true understanding, and if that is wrong, then definitely sorry for.

But clarification would be good, cause I really do think, that inactive fighter in a territory battle ejection deal is a thing. Anyone have a line on David and can point him this way?

Sorry, but your short and sweet tanty wasn't honestly needed at all
We battled for forty minutes that night. How long should we have waited? An hr? Two? To get the same end result?
Mortll told you to surrender the territory to avoid death. Pm david and ask him. That was very nice of her. Very.
It has not been that way for well over a year now. Which was why mortll offered that route out.

Finally, check the forum. Most of us are not gamers and have active threads going.knowing how the grid is played does not make us soley gamers. Knowing grid mechanics does not make us gamers, nor should we be reamed a new one or openly mocked for simply paying attention to updates and changes

Definitely true, which is why I'm wondering about all of those understandings.

Ok I don't know where most of this is coming from ... We all Rp some not as much as others but being labeled solely as gamers is very presumptuous.
You were WRONG.
End of story ... Unless you want to keep dragging it out and causing drama. This is my last post on the subject. I'm not very happy about getting fingers pointed at me declaring how Dare you ... and why couldn't you have when everything was laid out for you.
