Stagger Lee
One year. One year had passed since that very special night when he met her in a tiny club in River Rock. The night that changed everything. The night he met Kaelyn and they fell in love with each other.
It's crazy how much had happened in that one night, and how eventful their life together continued to be. Stagger Lee had been a guy who kept to himself, a man who trusted no one but his guns. This had changed now. Kaelyn had become a part of his life more than anyone ever had before.
And now it was time to celebrate. Something special. He loved to dress her up in sexy lingerie and make love to her in a million ways. But he had already given her lingerie for Valentine’s Day. It was time for something different.
Sitting back in his favourite chair, the man pondered for a while then remembered how much Kaelyn loved music. She loved to play the violin. Or the fiddle as they’d say down in the sound where Stag was from. Within seconds he was at his computer, looking up what kind of fiddles there were. Apparently the best ones had been made in Europe. In Italy to be more precise. Stradivaris. He knew Stratocaster guitars and those were good. Was there a connection?
Anyway, unlike Stratocasters, Stradivaris seemed to be something very rare. Some very special fiddle. One couldn’t just go and order one over the internet. So Stag had to do a bit more research to finally get his hands on one. The Stradivari now acquired by rather shady means, Stagger Lee finally held the instrument in his hands, impressed by the great quality of it, the the perfect workmanship of the instrument, crafted in Italy just a few decades after the first settlers on the Mayflower arrived in America.
Carefully, Stagger Lee put the precious instrument back into its case, then again pondered for a moment as he held the violin bow. He had an idea. An idea that would change both his and Kaelyn’s lives. But yes it seemed a good time for that…
Kaelyn
It had been a crazy year. Full of surprises and lots of adventures. Even this past week was completely unexpected. Doc had been in a plane crash and they had to go try and find him. That trip was just a disaster waiting to happen. Their anniversary had been spent on a fishing boat out on the water….with a handful of others. Everyone was home safe and now it was time to actually celebrate. She loved celebrating all special days with him….Christmas, birthdays, Valentine’s, etc….but this would be the most special. This was their first anniversary.
Stagger was her first...everything. She had loved being with him this past year. Kaelyn had fallen in love with this man from first sight. He had been sitting in that booth at her aunt’s club. They just happened to be low staffed that night. It was fate that she waited on him. They were meant to be together. She couldn’t picture herself with anyone else...ever. Against ‘family’ wishes, she had fallen head over heels for this man. He stole her heart for this past year and for many years to come.
To celebrate anniversaries, you typically give each other meaningful gifts. Thoughtful gifts. Something that shows your love for them, your understanding of them. What do you get for someone who has the capability of getting anything they want on their own? She was never very good at gift giving...even though she loved it. She loved making others happy, especially him. It had taken a lot of thinking and planning to get the gift she had chosen in order. She had had to do plenty of research to find the perfect one…well two. However Kaelyn had found two that were perfect...absolutely stunning. The blonde knew nothing of them, other than the fact they were gorgeous. It’d be perfect for her cowboy!
Tonight they’d get to celebrate. Maybe a nice dinner out for her lover to enjoy...while she enjoyed his company. She loved going to dinner with him. Even if she couldn’t taste the food, it was still nice to have normal dates out. Maybe he had something else planned. Either way, she’d make sure to wear something stunning...both on the outside...and beneath, only for his eyes.
Stagger Lee
He had put on a tailor made black suit, combining it with a crimson shirt, black bowtie and of course his Stetson which accompanied him wherever he went. It had even survived their short lived expedition to find Doc and Cytherea. Technically they had spent their anniversary out there on the water, together with the other members of the search party.
But now that they finally were back home it was time to celebrate in a more intimate, more private way. He had picked a special location for this event, to make it truly unforgettable for both of them. A spot that was most perfectly suited for the gift he was to give to his girlfriend tonight.
Now he heard her footsteps coming out of the bathroom, and he smiled in excited anticipation. It was time to go, time to head out into that very special night of celebration. “Are you ready darling?” he asked as he heard her approach him. He checked his pocket quickly, making sure the car key was inside it. His other hand held a locked metal suitcase, holding inside his so very precious gift to her, the valuable instrument, and the item that was attached to its bow.
Kaelyn
She had spent quite a bit of time in the bathroom at his apartment trying to get ready. It took a lot of effort to attempt to tame her curls. Products littered the bathroom counter….blow dryer, hair straightener, bottles of different hair creams, make up, etc. She wanted just the right amount of curls tonight. Not too poofy, not too straight. More like beachy waves. Finally she got it perfect. A grin tugged at her lips as she applied the last bit of makeup. Now for the outfit.
She had found the perfect lingerie when shopping the other night. Red and black lacy strapless bra and matching panties. She squeezed herself into these before stepping into the dress specifically for tonight. Kaelyn loved occasions that sent her shopping. She chose a gorgeous black mini dress that barely covered half her thighs. However the top was quite modest, even if strapless. Cute pointed teal heels adorned her feet. She was ready to go!
Making her way out of the bathroom...leaving the mess for now, she’d deal with that later...Kaelyn made her way to the living room in search of her lovey. Eyeing him up and down, the blonde grinned widely. He looked amazing. Arms curled around his neck and a small kiss was pecked to his lips, careful not to ruin her lipstick she had just applied. “You look good baby...real good.” The only thing unusual was the metal case...what the heck was that? Tapping it with her fingers, she smiled. “What’s in that?”
Stagger Lee
So stunning she looked tonight. So impressively sexy. Oh, he loved his beautiful woman. He returned her kiss, having to hold back to keep him from kissing her as deeply as he wanted to, because he didn’t want to completely mess up her lipstick already. “Mmm you look great, gal. Takes my breath away”. He said, then grinned as she tapped the metal case. “This is top secret, and I will not yet tell you what it is. But don’t worry, you will find out tonight.”
“Now let’s go!” He wrapped one arm around her side, to lead her onward with him, out of the apartment., towards the elevator. The night was still young, the sun had just set. Still a lot of time to spend together to celebrate that special occasion. He leaned into her as they were in the elevator, facing her, one hand on her side, the other one caressing her face as he looked into her eyes.
“So nice to have some time alone with each other again”, he spoke softly, thinking of their surprisingly short and rather chaotic adventure, the somewhat haphazard search expedition that never really happened.
Kaelyn
Following along with him, she smiled happily. Life had been quite stressful lately. Especially now that they were back. Yes, her Papi was safe...but his chain...she was dead. Death was supposed to be part of life and she had witnessed quite a bit of it in her young life, so it didn’t phase her too much. Her own sire had recently died as well. While it didn’t upset her much, Doc seemed to be a wreck. Not only was he healing from his recent adventure, but he had taken up drinking. There hadn’t been a sober moment with him since his return. Granted drunk Papi was a very nice, lovey Papi. She enjoyed that and would keep it in mind for later. Tonight would be a great time to get away from all of the stress that was happening there. Tonight was all about the two of them. All other thoughts and worries would be pushed from her mind.
She didn’t get to find out about what was in the case...but he’d tell her later. She could live with that, even though the denial made her want to know even more. The blonde leaned in against her boyfriend as he lead her to their unknown destination. Where were they going? Her head tipped up to look at the man as they stepped into the elevator and it started to bring them down. “It’s great to have alone time together again, but where are we going, lovey?” She had turned so her body was facing his, arms curling around his neck. Another kiss was pushed to his lips.
Stagger Lee
Of course, as always, she was so full of curiosity, eager to find out what was in the suitcase, eager to find out where they were going That was one of the things he loved so much about her, this excitement, this curiosity. And of course he was not yet giving in to it, not going to destroy the surprise he had planned.
A big grin appeared on his lips before he pressed them upon hers to return her kiss. “You will find out soon enough”, he replied, gently touching the tip of her cute nose with his finger. His other arm was wrapped around her waist to hold her close to him as they were going down.
Arriving on ground level he reluctantly had to break the embrace to guide her to his car, the black mustang that Mini had customized for him. Opening the passenger door for his girlfriend he smiled. “I will have to ask you for something though, because I would like the spot where I take you to be a real surprise.” As he spoke, he produced a velvet blindfold from the pocket of his suit jacket.

Re: The Anniversary [Kaelyn and Stagger Lee
Kaelyn
Her eyes rolled. Why did this not surprise her. “You and that blindfold.” She chuckled some and turned her back to the man. Of course he’d want wherever they were going to be a surprise. He always loved surprising her. And blindfolding her was one of his favorite things to do….at least it seemed so. It was cute...yet annoying. But only annoying because she was nosey and wanted to know everything all at once. A smile tugged at her lips. “Go ahead, love.”
She’d wait for him to cover her eyes before ducking carefully into the car. She was excited to get going so she could finally know where they were headed. It was kind of extra sweet that he was blind folding her tonight. A year ago on their first actual date he had blindfolded her to surprise her with where they were going...That night was full of firsts. The first night they met he had blindfolded her as well. He took her to his shop...She shuddered at the thought of it...what all he had been doing before she came along. So much had changed since then.
“Just don’t mess up the hair or makeup, please.” She smirked, knowing full well that he wouldn’t dare to do either of those things….at this moment. Later on when they were alone again was a whole other story.
Stagger Lee
It was like their first night, like the night they met, a year ago. He smiled as he thought of it, placing a little kiss on the top of her head before he carefully placed the blindfold over her eyes, cautious to not mess with Kaelyn’s makeup. “I’ll save that for later”, Stagger grinned, then took a step back to have a closer look at his girl. How beautiful she was! He really couldn’t ever get enough of her. What a lucky man he was to have won this young woman’s heart that very night. And he was not letting go of it at all.
“Can I trust you not to peek under the blindfold? Or should I rather tie your hands to make sure?” He asked, knowing well enough how curious Kaelyn was. And she was so excited tonight. So was he. This would be a very special night indeed.
Before moving into the driver’s seat, Stagger Lee placed the metal case he was carrying behind Kaelyn’s seat. The contents of this case was so precious, he didn’t want to risk putting it into the trunk. Soon she would find out why it was so precious to him.
Kaelyn
That comment sent a shiver through her. Ideas of what was to come later. Mmm...her mind could easily wander a million places with that one. But no! Back on track. She was blindfolded and there was a metal case with contents that she desperately needed to find out what they were. A smirk pulled at her glossed lips. Blindfolded and bound? It really would be like their first date. “Oh I don’t know lovey...I’m itching pretty hard to get inside that case.” She heard him set the case behind her...tease. She would behave though. Hands would sit nicely on her lap...or his...depending where they wandered.
He was in the car with her now, she heard his door shut and the engine roar to life. “I’ll behave...for now, lovey. I won’t try to peek.” Kaelyn knew it was a special surprise for her. That’s why it was being kept hidden from her. She wouldn’t ruin it. Not on tonight of all nights. Thoughts roamed to her gift for him and she giggled. “Ya know, I have a present for you...but it’s a bit too big for it to come along with us. I’ll have to show you later.”
Stagger Lee
Stagger Lee grinned at his girlfriend’s reply. “So full of mischief you are, and yet such a good girl”, he said softly, placing a little kiss on the top of Kaelyn’s head. “But you know you’d end up getting into a lot of trouble with me if you tried to peek,” he added. He knew she wouldn’t. But it was such fun teasing her.
He had one more look at his blindfolded darling as he started the engine. This time he was heading out of the city, away from Harper Rock. There was no such place inside his new hometown that was what he was looking for. But not too far away, there was a place that was quite ideal for what he had in mind. He had read about it when was planning the Ontario trip for him an Kaelyn. Now he was glad they didn’t go there then, because now it would be an even bigger surprise.
Soon they were on the highway, speeding into the night, Stagger Lee was heading south, towards Lake Ontario. “Don’t worry darling, we will be there soon”, he said, smiling at the beautiful young woman who sat blindfolded by his side.
Kaelyn
Kaelyn definitely knew the trouble she’d be in if she peeked. Granted...she sometimes enjoyed those punishments. But tonight, she’d be good. She’d let him have his way for now. She listened as they drove along, trying to listen for anything familiar outside the car. They drove past the transit...she could hear it. But she could tell they weren’t staying in town. Soon they were out and on the highway. Where was he taking her? There was absolutely no way of knowing, so she just sat back in her seat, kicked off her shoes and put feet on the dash. Pushing a few buttons was ok. Kaelyn would sit back and enjoy the ride to wherever he was taking her.
Thoughts took her to her Papi for a moment...he had been quite upset and worried when he found out that Roderic and Dom were out of town. Then again they were not even in the country. Would he be ok with her leaving town? Maybe she just wouldn’t tell him. He wouldn’t need to know this one. Otherwise a grumpy old man might come interrupt their perfect night. Nope. Papi would not be clued in to where they might be. This was a night for just her and Stagger. She trusted him. That’s all that mattered.
Stagger Lee
Seeing his girlfriend put her feet on the dash of his car, Stagger Lee grumbled a little and shook his head. “Be careful girl, or you’ll end up in big trouble,” he told her, sounding rather playful than really strict though.
It was a bit of a drive until they reached their destination, but traffic wasn’t that dense anymore at night. The place where he was taking her was a small town on the shore of lake Ontario. An early 19th century town called Cobourg, famous in the area for one particular building in its centre. And it was exactly that building where he was taking her.
He had made sure that tonight there was no event going on, so they’d have the place for themselves. Once they got in. That of course wouldn’t be easy. It was the very centre of a lively little town after all. In his car they wouldn’t get close enough without raising any suspicion. Thus it was time for a change of vehicles. “We are almost there my darling” He told his beloved Kaelyn, stopping near the dark backyard of an electrician’s workshop. There were two vans and pickup truck all in the company colors and with the company logo on the sides parked on the property.
“Wait here for a moment”, Stagger Lee kissed his girlfriend’s cheek softly. “And don’t peek.” Quickly he had slipped out, checking the place for any security. This was just a small shop though. He spotted a cctv camera. But that seemed to be all that was there. Deactivating it was an easy job for him.
Kaelyn
The girl just smiled as he admonished her for putting her feet up. He loved his car almost as much as he did her...maybe more...nah...but it was close! She kept them there throughout the trip even with his words. Where the heck were they going? They had been driving a while? Finally the car had pulled a stop. They were there! She’d get to find out where he was taking her. Feet had dropped and she sat up, ready to take her seatbelt off. But...no. She was told to wait. Not to peek. Was he coming to open the door for her?
Kaelyn waited what seemed like an eternity. Where did he go? He certainly wasn’t opening the door for her. What the heck was he doing? The blonde huffed a bit and sat back in her seat. He’d be back eventually. Reaching over, she felt for the radio buttons. She wasn’t going to sit in silence while she waited for him. She hit the button for it to scan the stations til it came to one that seemed decent. Taylor Swift would do for the moment. Stag would certainly object to the choice of music once he was back to the car...but hopefully they wouldn’t be in it for much longer.
Stagger Lee
Deactivating the camera went as smooth as he had thought. It was a rather old model and wasn’t much of a challenge to him. Well this was the easy part of his task anyway. Quickly he was at the company cars, making sure that no one was around in the vicinity. He was about to pick the lock of one of them, but then decided that there might be an even easier way. Eager not to let his girl wait for too long, he rushed over to the company’s mailbox. And yes indeed. One of the car keys was in there, obviously deposited by a driver returning in late.
With a piece of wire it was so easy to get the key out of the rather deep and narrow mailbox. Stagger Lee almost had it fished out, when he suddenly heard music from somewhere close. Interrupting his illicit activity, he ducked into the entranceway to have a peek around. This certainly wasn’t a good moment to get surprised by someone, no matter if employee, security personnel or cop. His gun drawn, he scanned the area with his keen eyes.
Strangely there was no other car around but his. It took him a few moments to realize that the music was coming from the direction where he had parked his car which was close by but not visible from the parking lot. This must be his own radio. It wasn’t the station he’d usually listen to after all.
He remembered he hadn’t told Kaelyn to stay quiet, so he couldn’t even blame for what she was doing. So far the rest of the area seemed equally quiet and empty as before. The key now in hand, he tried checked to which car it belonged, then jumped into the driver’s seat.
He drove up to the Mustang and stopped there, relieved to see it was indeed his girlfriend who had turned on the radio. Swiftly, he jumped out and went to the passenger side where Kaelyn sat. Opening the door for her, he told her. “Time to change cars, darling.”
Kaelyn
Feet were tapping and she was singing along with the songs on the radio. She wanted to peel off her blindfold to see where they were, but she was behaving tonight. He had told her not to peek. However she did perk up when she heard a car approaching. Quickly she shut everything down in the car so she could hear better. She needed to be aware of her surroundings even without sight. Better safe than sorry. Especially with everything that had been going on lately.
The door shut, footsteps approached. She’d recognize that walk anywhere. Her lovey in his boots, crunching gravel beneath his feet. She smiled and relaxed some. What was he doing with another car though? She got her answer shortly after the thought as he opened up her car door and told her they’d be changing cars. What the heck for? That was strange. Apparently they were not at their destination.
“Where are we? Why are we switching cars?” He was crazy. Him and his plans. But she loved him. Beyond words. Carefully she turned in her seat, pulled heels back onto her feet and planted them firmly on the ground before standing up. She stepped aside so he could close the door. “Lead away, lovey.” He’d need to since she couldn’t see where she was walking.
Re: The Anniversary [Kaelyn and Stagger Lee
Stagger Lee
Hearing her questions, he smiled. “Soon you will find out. Don’t worry darling, we are almost there”. In a way it was crazy indeed what he was doing. With his recently acquired wealth he could have just rented the place where he was taking her for a night. But old habits die hard, and it certainly was more exciting to sneak in instead.
This thoughts on his mind, he lead her to the van, helping her onto the passenger seat, then carefully placed a baseball hat on his girlfriend’s hat, pulling it down enough to hide the blindfold over her eyes. Driving into the centre of town with a blindfolded person on the passenger seat would be certain to arouse suspicion. He gave Kaelyn a gently kiss, then jumped into the driver’s seat. His own car was parked where it hopefully was out of sight, and wouldn’t attract the suspicion of police or criminals.
It was a short drive to King Street, the centre of the town he had taken her too. Like planned, he parked the car near the rear entry of the building. “We are there, now just give me a few minutes to get us in”, he told Kaelyn. Entering here would certainly be a bit more complicated than stealing the van. But Stagger Lee was well prepared. He had his guns and his tool box with him. In the past he also would have taken his laptop. But that was no longer necessary. The marvelous blood of his sweet darling allowed him to hack even into the most sophisticated systems by using only his mind.
Kaelyn
They both had plenty of money. That wasn’t an issue. They could do anything their hearts desired...but he liked things his way. He enjoyed this sort of lifestyle. She’d never take that from him. Soon. She’d find out soon. But she wanted to know now. Patience. Something she lacked and would have to learn to gain. A hat was put on her head...ugh. Why the heck was there a hat on her head, ruining her hair? Luckily it’d be an easy fix once the hat was removed. What the heck was he doing? Trust was something she had plenty of for him. Kaelyn would just go along and do whatever it is he wanted, knowing he’d have her best interest at mind.
They were on the move again. But not for long. They were in a town. She could hear other cars buzzing by them. However there weren’t many people out since it was late at night. The vehicle had stopped...again. He was getting out. She was to stay put. Kaelyn returned the kiss, smiling softly. “Ok baby. See you in a few!” More waiting. She could do it. She wouldn’t peek in the box that was right behind her. Even though she could...with him gone it’d be easy to remove the blindfold and check it before he could even come back. Those thoughts meandered through her mind, but she pushed them aside. Nope. This was a surprise...for her no doubtedly.
They were there though. She could be patient enough to wait for this. He had to go let them in. Where were they? Anticipation swirled inside her. She loved surprises, but hated them at the same time. She loved knowing things.
Stagger Lee
They were there. “Please stay here, and don’t make any noise”, he softly asked his girlfriend before he was on his way. Now it was time to get into the building, and make sure they could use it undisturbed. Being able to mentally hack security systems was a beautiful thing. It took him just a bit of concentration to know where the cameras were located, what other security measures were installed, and how many guards were there. There was only one there right now actually.
To make sure the guy did not see him on his monitors, Stagger Lee had to hack into the camera feeds. This done, the next step was to get in and make sure the one guard didn’t pose any risk for them. The electronic lock on the big building’s back door took him some time to deactivate. Finally succeeding he swiftly made his way into the dark catacombs. Even though he was a bit in hurry - he had to get this done fast so he and Kaelyn still had plenty of time together in the building - Stagger Lee had to make sure the guard did not notice him. Fortunately his newly gained powers seemed to help him, silencing the sounds of his steps.
Being noticed would inevitably lead to a bloodbath, with not only one guard down, but also a number of cops. It was pretty likely that the one guy, being alone responsible for such a big building would not hesitate to call the cops as quick as possible in case of something suspicious. And they’d be there fast, this was the very centre of the town.
It was a bit likey a game of hide and seek, with only one of the players knowing the game was on. But finally Stagger Lee noticed the light of a torch coming from a corridor ahead of him. Hiding behind a ticketing booth, he patiently awaited the guard’s arrival, then, as the man arrived, used one of his recently gained powers to mentally overwhelm the man, then jump at him, tackling the guard. Before the guy could draw his taser or sound an alarm, he was tied up and shoved into the ticketing booth. Blindfolding him was necessary, again a vampiric power came handy to blind the man.
This all had been taking a bit longer than Stagger Lee had hoped, but now at least the way was clear. He hurried back to the car, hoping that Kaelyn did heed his request and didn’t wander off or turn the radio on again.
Kaelyn
Stay put. Don’t make noise. Did this man not know her at all? Ugh this was torture. Neither of those two things were her forte. Kaelyn seemed to always be moving around or making noise of some sort...typically talking. But nooo...she had to be quiet. Couldn’t draw attention to her. Where were they that she had to worry about this? Could she turn on the music even just a little bit? Better not risk it Who knows what they were up to. What was he doing? Had he gone off to make sure whatever his plans were were all set out? Did he have to pick something up? Was he killing someone? Could literally be anything.
He was taking foreeeeeever. She was going to go stir crazy if he took much longer. The young blonde had been wiggling around inside the vehicle. Feet up on the dash, then down. Leaning against the door, then sprawled out over the seats. She was tempted to peek. Just so she could at least see if it’d be safe to get out of the car and maybe just...stand near it? Nope. Stagger would be a grumpy man if she disobeyed. Sit and wait. The Jeopardy theme song was playing in her head. Duh!! Powers. Best power she had by far was the ability to use the internet in her head. Gah why hadn’t she thought of that before? Youtube….music….ok now she could handle this. If Stagger were to approach the car now, he’d probably see his girlfriend bopping her head and wriggling around in her seat to the music going on in her head. She was quiet though. She had followed directions.
Stagger Lee
He couldn’t help softly chuckling to himself as he spotted Kaelyn in the car. The blindfold was still on - she really was such a good girl. But it was obvious the wait had been quite torturous to hear. Her dress was quite a bit messed up now, by the way she was wriggling around in her seat, her whole body in motion to… . To what exactly? There was no music, all was perfectly quiet. The scene before his eyes looked a bit like watching a music video - a damn sexy music video - with the sound turned off.
Stagger Lee could stood there for hours watching her quietly. But it was time to move on now, to finally lead her inside to see her surprise. So he softly opened the door, whispering to her as he leaned in. “All clear, let’s go”. He reached his strong hand out to the blindfolded woman. Ready to lead her into the building. It was a good moment to go now, no traffic on the road close to them, if they made it inside quickly they’d make it inside unseen. And then, so soon, he’d tell her to take off her blindfold, and have her look around and see where he took her.Making sure he had his gift to her with him, the stradivari with the little item attached to its bow, he leaned in closer, giving her a gentle, loving kiss as he helped his girlfriend out of the van.
Kaelyn
The curly headed blonde was lip syncing to Wrecking Ball when Stagger had approached the car. She was really getting into it with the music playing in her head. When the door to the vehicle had been pulled open and he was whispering for her to join him, she nearly jumped out of her seat. It was Stagger. She knew that voice...that hand that was grabbing for her own. Kaelyn couldn’t help but giggle at her silly reaction.
Turning in her seat, she hopped out, still holding onto his hand. Mmm lips were pressed to hers. Kae loved Stagger kisses. They were very happily returned. He was whispering...that meant she should probably stay quiet. Nothing quieter than speaking in someone’s mind! “Sooo where are we going lovey? Are we here? When can I take this blindfold off? What about this hat? Is my hair a mess?” He had left her on her own for too long with no one to talk to...so now he was getting it all at once.
There wasn’t really anyone around. She would be able to hear footsteps or quiet conversations. Where were they? Feet started to pace a little, waiting for him to tug her in the right direction. She had no idea what awaited for her.
Stagger Lee
“Psssst, we are almost there”, he told her softly, as he lead his blindfolded girlfriend along the dark corridor. The only light were the illuminated signs of the fire exits. But that was enough for him to find his way in the darkness. Life in Harper Rock had made him become used to nocturnal excursions.
Stagger Lee made sure Kaelyn didn’t stumble as he lead her. “We can look after your hair in a second, I am sure it still looks fine”, he added softly as he opened the huge doors. “Just a few more steps…. Careful, the floor is declining.” he warned her as she set a foot into the room behind the door.
Now they were inside, having finally reached their destination, the place he had chosen for their anniversary. Smiling excitedly, he closed the door behind his darling, then lead her to one of the plushy seats that lined the declining corridor.”Wait just one second”, he spoke, taking a few steps backward, then turning on the light. Standing behind her now as she was seated, he reached downward to remove first the hat, his fingers gently running through her hair. “Now you may remove the blindfold, my love”, he softly told her, as she sat there in the upper row of the old colonial opera hall, facing the stage.
Kaelyn
Kaelyn followed along blindly, grasping at his hand as he lead her into the building and down the halls. Where were they? It couldn’t have been some sort of restaurant or something like that...the walk didn’t make sense for that sort of set up. They were almost there. The floor was now at a slope...they were declining. She wanted to remove the blindfold, to see where he had taken her. Wait a second? Were they there? He sat her down in the cushy seat. Seriously… where were they? Curiosity was turning to excitement. Whatever this was had her completely confused.
He had removed the hat and smoothed out her hair. It was time! He had given permission to take off the blindfold. The blonde practically ripped the blindfold from her face so she could see. She had to blink a few times to adjust to the light. When they finally did, she was astonished. Mouth dropped as she peered around. The building they were in was beautiful. The decadence of it all. He had brought her to an Opera House. Eyes fell on the stage. A stage very similar to ones she could have been on. If she had finished her schooling she would have one day ended up on a big stage like this, surrounded by an audience that would fill the very chairs she sat in now. The thoughts brought a huge smile to her face.
Turning in her seat, she looked to the man she loved behind her. “What are we doing here? This place is so beautiful. But...it’s a bit late for a show, isn’t it?”
Stagger Lee
“Too late for the show?”, he shook his head and smiled at her words. “Oh no not at all.” His hands gently caressed Kaelyn’s shoulders as he spoke, standing behind her. He leaned in towards her, to softly place a kiss on the top of her head, then moved to sit down beside her, the case with the precious violin in his lap. Opening it to reveal the stradivari inside, he smiled and spoke.
“I admit it will not be a big audience tonight, just me. But I would love to see and hear you play the violin for me on this stage.” Looking into her eyes, he took his girlfriend’s hand, “ready to go down to the stage with me?” he asked her. There was something attached to the bow of the violin, something small, that was sparkling in the faint bit of light that reached their seats from the stage at the other end of the opera hall. But before she could have a closer look at the tiny item, he had closed the case again, and stood up from his seat, his hand in hers, ready to lead the way to the big stage of the Victorian opera house.
Re: The Anniversary [Kaelyn and Stagger Lee
Kaelyn
The affection from her lover always caused butterflies to flutter in her tummy and a smile to tug at her lips. But that feeling was quickly interrupted when he came down to sit next to her and the case was in her lap. He was opening it! She turned a bit so she could have a much better look. Excitement couldn’t even begin to describe how she felt. Green eyes opened wide as the violin was revealed...not just any violin...a Stradivarius violin. She could recognize that instantly. The blonde was in awe as fingers reached out to stroke over the wood, but the case had been shut again before she had the chance to touch. A hint of something shiny glimmered, but she hadn’t gotten a good look.
His words finally started to register as she looked up at the man next to her. “You...you want me to play for you?” Her lips were pulling into a large smile again. It had been a long time since she had played...a year at least. She’d hardly played at all since her and Victor started going down hill. He had created her her very own music room. Her favorite room in the house they all had shared. Kaelyn had turned to focus more on her dancing since then. Hopefully without practice, she’d still be able to play decently for him.
Her pale, petite hand slid into Stagger’s as he started to lead her down towards the stage. Standing up on tippy toes, she pushed a kiss to his jaw. “I would love to play for you. This is...amazing, Stagger. You don’t even understand how perfect this is.” She seriously couldn’t think of a better way to spend their anniversary. How could it get any better than this? Her dream of being on stage...playing an instrument she before this could only dream of touching. He knew her so well.
Stagger Lee
He was so happy to hear that his gift made her as happy as he had hoped it would. Her smile, her eyes told him more about it then her words even could. So beautiful she was in her youth, her happiness. Gently Stagger Lee caressed his girlfriend’s cheek, cherishing this joyful moment.
Then he squeezed her hand a little, and he lead her toward the stage. They walked in slow measured steps, the stage looking so big the closer they came to it. He wondered what famous musicians might have already performed on that stage. But would he even know the names of them? He wasn’t an expert in classical music at all. And this did not look like a place usually booked for bluegrass or blues artists.
As they reached the stage he grinned, “let me help you up there.” He put the case with the violin down to the floor, and turned towards Kaelyn. It was quite a climb to make it up to the stage, especially in the fancy dress she was wearing for this very special night. but he was ready to assist her in this endeavour, and lift her up.
Kaelyn
She waited for him to lift her up onto the stage and then smoothed out her dress. She didn’t bother questioning why she couldn’t just use the stairs that were surely to the side or just around back a bit. Once on stage, she took in the view. It was an amazing feeling, being up on stage...not just any stage, but one as decadent as this. Room for a huge audience to fill. But tonight, it was the two of them. This would be a special viewing just for him.
With a grin, she held out her hand for the case that held the precious instrument...and something else she didn’t know of. “Any requests, love?” If not, she had an idea of what she’d play for him. It wasn’t a classical song by no means, much more recent, but it was something she enjoyed. A song that had meaning and was just beautiful. It had been a while since she had practiced...so hopefully she could remember all of the measures. It wasn’t an overly difficult piece at all, so she should be able to pull it off without any problems.
Stagger Lee
A soon as Kaelyn was up on the stage, Stagger Lee took the case that held the precious instrument, and carefully set it on the stage in front of her, the lid still closed. Then he slowly took a step back, his eyes still upon the young woman.
Even though he was eager to hear her play on the instrument he had gifted her, Stagger Lee waited patiently now, to give Kaelyn time to take in her surroundings, enjoy her view from up on the stage. “Like what you see?”, he asked after sitting back in one of the first row seats, watching her.
“Any requests, love?” Stagger Lee pondered for moment. What song would be perfect for such a moment like this one? He had never been much into love songs. And much of the music he listened to, the country, the blues, the bluegrass, had songs that were more about broken hearts and love that didn’t last than about the bliss found in togetherness.
Maybe Johnny Cash’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” would work. Or “If I Were A Carpenter”. But did Kaelyn know these songs? And were they suited to be played on an opera stage. On a stradivari? Most likely not. He’d rather let her start with something she was familiar with, to get used to the new instrument. So after a bit of consideration, he just shook his head and grinned back up to the woman on the stage. “Just start with one of your favorites, darling. I just love to hear - and watch - you play.”
Kaelyn
She could see him contemplating the question she had asked...if he had any requests. It made her a little nervous because what if she didn’t know how to play what he wanted? Little did she know the very songs running through her mind were exactly that...songs she did not know. Luckily however, he had said that he wanted her to play one of her favorites. That would be easy enough.
The blonde took one more long glance around at her surroundings. At her man who was now sitting in the front row to view her. An audience dedicated just to her. Kaelyn knelt down to open up the case carefully. She would be treating this instrument with the utmost care. “I know exactly what I”d like to play for you. It’s not a classic...much more modern. But it’s beautiful and it has meaning. I’ll let you listen to the lyrics later.”
Fingers unclasped the case and she reached in to pull out the violin. Before she could bring herself to play it though, she wanted to look at the beauty more carefully. Fingers stroked over the wood. It was an antique...absolutely gorgeous. Focusing on the actual instrument, she hadn’t noticed the bow quite yet. “Where did you find this? How did you find it? There aren’t very many of these left, I don’t think...and god what you must have paid for it…” She still was in awe of the fact that she was now the proud owner of such an amazing instrument.
Stagger Lee
Leaned back comfortably in his seat, Stagger Lee, watched his girlfriend as she stood up there on the stage. “Do you like the view from up there?” he asked her. She looked so amazing as she stood there, dressed in that fabulous dress. Only her hair was still a tiny bit messed up, to to the blindfold he had her wear earlier on. Stagger Lee grinned thinking of it.
Hearing her talk about the piece she would play for him made him curious. He knew it would be something very special and heartfelt that she’d play for him, something that opened her heart and soul to him. He watched her pick up the instrument, her intention so far on the violin, but not on the bow with its special feature. “Oh, I prefer not to talk about that.”, he grinned in reply to her question on how he had acquired the violin and what he had paid for it. Some things were better kept secret.
Kaelyn
Kaelyn couldn’t help but chuckle at his avoiding her question. That means that her prized gift was claimed in most likely not a legal way. That was her man though. He got what he wanted when he wanted it. She’d have to take extra care of this then. Not just because of it’s value or what it was...but because this probably meant she probably shouldn’t be caught with this specific one. “Fair enough my love.”
She pulled the instrument out and grabbed the bow as well. Standing up, she brought he violin to rest just below her chin. As she tipped the bow back to begin playing, something had knocked against it. Her brow furrowed a bit as attention moved towards what made the slight tap. There was something tied to the bow, dangling just a little. Setting the violin back down, Kaelyn focused on the bow and its attachment. Eyes darted back and forth a moment...first on the shiny object attached and then towards Stagger and back again. “Love...what...what’s this?”
