Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
The dreams, no, nightmares kept flooding in every night while she tried to sleep. It didn't matter if she took an air or not, she always dreamed the same damn thing. Blood, guns, violence. It was like she couldn't ever get away from it. That was why the blonde was training with an elite group to be an assassin. She wanted to kill the horrible people that had killed her mother and father.
She wanted to stop having the same dream every night. She wanted revenge for the wrong-doing against her family. So like every other morning, the blonde got up and splashed some water on her face. She had to remember that it wasn't real. It had already happened and she was going to fix it. Today however, she was going to be learning about her new assignment. Her final test before becoming a full fledged assassin. One step closer to finding the murderer of her parents.
Blair left her bedroom after dressing, today it was simple. She had to blend in to her surroundings. Her long blonde locks were put up into a ponytail and soon she was out of her crappy little apartment. The landlord whistled at her as she left. He'd have to be the next to go. Creep. The blonde fired up her old Camaro and was off to the compound. She didn't live in Harper Rock, but she had heard stories. Word was that her new assignment was taking here there.
Soon enough, she pulled into the compound and was greeted by the leader, Max. He was a tall man who had taken her in when she was little and trained her personally. She saw him as another father figure. "Alright, Blair. Here's your new assignment. One Cedric Costello. Apparently he committed some things he shouldn't have in his past and now it's catching up to him. Someone wants him dead and we think you're the girl for it. This is your final assignment before you are taken in as one of us. You know what this means if it ends well, Blair. Here's his folder, debrief and then head to Harper Rock."
Blair nodded and took the folder. She headed off to one of the secluded rooms and read over Cedric's file. He was a bad man indeed. This would be easy for her. She wouldn't have any remorse. It would be one more bad guy gone from society. But, Blair had heard the rumors about Harper Rock. She just hopped this assignment would be easy. Wam, bam, and then done. After reading the papers, she packed up her bag and said her goodbyes.
Hours later, she arrived in Harper Rock. She had learned everything she could about Cedric, she knew where he liked to hang out. The blonde rented herself a hotel room. She had to rest and let night hit. It was always easier to do a killing at night than the day. When nightfall hit, the blonde left to seek out her assignment. It wasn't long before she found him. She kept back in the shadows, following him and waiting for the right moment to pounce.
He wouldn't see it coming.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
The musician stood on the footpath outside of the mall, staring up at its façade. Although he was looking at brick and glass, through which were amassed the riches of materialism. He had become a part of that materialism, offering but an escape from the mundanity of this world. The Cocoa Bean, though simple in its naming, was a bar through which the customers could step back in time; a speakeasy, they could pretend that alcohol was still illegal, that their revelry could come with a cost.
Give up too much to happiness, and the bad times then had the upper hand. They had the element of surprise.
Cedric did not allow the bad times the leeway of surprise; he expected them. How could he not? Although his suit was spotless and fit him like a glove, his conscience was not. Or, more accurately, he pondered why he did not feel guilt, why he was not weighed down by the gravity of his actions. Castalia had offered him a new life, something new, something different, but had she instead turned him into a remorseless killer? Or had he always been this way, the vampirism only heightening what society had deemed evil and wrong.
The body he’d left behind was drained of blood, dead. Whatever life might have tried to take root in the woman’s abdomen was now quashed along with its host. She had been beautiful. Her name was Anne-Marie, and her smile was such that spoke of a life untainted. She had optimism, and only believed the best of people. Anne-Marie had been no match for Cedric’s charm, for the deadly gravitas with which he lured his victims. More often than not, women were attracted to the stoic, to the quiet and the mysterious.
Now she was dead.
And Cedric was about to return to his mundanity; to the life he had built here for himself, businessman and occasional pianist. He did not mind the routine of it, the way each night blended into the next. The women kept things interesting. A different one every night. Sooner or later, they would run out. Sooner than that, he presumed, someone would become wise to his game. They were calling him a serial killer. And yet, they did not know wit was him. They did not know he, Cedric Costello, was a killer on the loose.
Crushing the cigarette he had been smoking out on the pavement, he stepped into the mall, headed to the left – toward the noise and revelry that was his bar.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
Blair was apparently good at the tailing. It didn't seem this Cedric Costello was paying attention at all to his surroundings. Blair hadn't read much of the file, she didn't exactly know how bad this man really was. Either way, she would complete her job. This was her one last step before she could become a full fledged assassin.
She wanted revenge for her parents.
Shaking her head, she lost her thoughts. She had to have a clear mind and she had to be focused in order for this to go down the way she wanted it too. In the past, she had been in situations where she could have easily died, she didn't want that to be tonight.
In her own wake of her mind, she had let Cedric travel into a mall. That'd had been stupid, she didn't want witnesses or a crowd. So the blonde slipped in behind him into the mall as well. The bar was clearly his intent. She couldn't let him get that far. The blonde had to think fast.
It was a shame he was an attractive guy.
Anyways, the blonde pulled her knife from her pants and did the first thing she could think of. She quickly moved in front of the man, pressing the knife up against his stomach. It wasn't piercing, just enough to grab his attention. Her gaze caught his. "Cedric Costello? I'm going to need you to come with me." She didn't want to do this in front of a crowd. It'd be much easier if he complied.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
Cedric didn’t notice the woman until she was standing right in front of him. Tall, lithe, blonde hair and eyes a colour he couldn’t quite distinguish. She had the healthy warm glow of a human, skin that looked like it had recently been kissed by the sun. Cedric’s assessment could not be helped; the life that he lived, the routine that he had sunk into – he was the kind of man the feminists wanted to lynch. If they were still allowed to, he’d have been hung, drawn and quartered.
After a second of wondering whether he should get this woman’s name and number so that he could meet up with her the next night, Cedric took the time out to recognise the knife threatening to pierce his dress shirt. He proffered and arched brow and half a quirked smile – here he was, just thinking about being mobbed by angry women, only to have one stop him in his tracks.
Casually, he pushed his hands into his pockets, though made no move. He stood his ground and shrugged his shoulders.
”Need,” he finally uttered. This should have made him wonder – what with David, not too long ago, trying to tell Cedric that people were after him, trying to convince Cedric that David was just the man to take care of them. Whether or not any of it had been true or not, Cedric may never know. But maybe he needed to learn to keep a lower profile – though he wasn’t sure how much lower he could get.
”I am not sure how much you know,” he said, accent German, bordering on French with a little Dutch thrown in for good measure. ”But I am curious what you hope to achieve with that letter opener,” he said, nodding to the knife between them. It wasn’t a bad knife. In fact, it looked quite lethal. But Cedric was curious, and more than a little intrigued.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
Blair was a little taken back when he didn't make any move to her words. Usually it worked. The guy or girl for that matter would do as she said without any kind of fight. At least not until they were out of public eye. She had been in some doozies. She tightened her jaw, working over the words in her head. Was he really questioning her? The blonde did have a knife to his stomach. Could she really blame him?
She wished she had read the file. She wanted to know exactly what this male had done to be warranted with the gift of death by her hand. "I don't know anything. All I know is that you need to not make a scene and we'll take care of this in private. However, if you choose to do the opposite I have no qualms with putting you down right here and right now." Blair said with more authority than she knew she had. She was a little off her game, since the male was questioning her.
She wiggled the knife a little closer, not cutting flesh but making it known that she wasn't exactly playing. "Are you going to go somewhere more private, or are we going to do this right here?" The blonde questioned. She didn't want to draw attention to herself.
But if she had to she would.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
The whole scenario was like something out of a thriller. Cedric had never considered himself the main character of anything so exciting. Was he the bad guy that everyone hated, or was he the one on the fence, the one that had as many fans as the hero? Silence pervaded the space between them as the Belgian seemed to consider the options given to him. In the end, his gaze strayed to the knife between them; although the two gained themselves a couple of curious glances from passer-by, the knife was hidden. They couldn’t see the threat. All they saw were two people in a heated conversation.
Light laughter shook Cedric’s frame, though his lips didn’t part to let it free. Rather than turn and go where asked, he took the tiniest step forward. The single tiny step allowed him the momentum and force to do what the woman had not – he pierced his own abdomen with the blade’s tip. Bright, red blood should have stained his shirt. It should have blossomed like a poppy on a field of war, and yet it did not. Instead, there pooled a black substance which only clung to the shirt for a few seconds before it dispersed into thin air.
Having no idea about his anatomy, Cedric did not know what organ would be punctured if he were to push any harder. He winced only slightly as he let that blade dig just a little deeper, through the layers of flesh and muscle. And there was quite a lot of muscle – for a pianist, her certainly did have the build of a boxer.
”We can do this right here, whatever this is,” he said, almost purring, only the barest tense hint of any pain in his tone.
”But I must warn you, I do not like your chances,” he said. He might have been a businessman at heart, but Cedric was no cream puff when it came to combat. He was confident that he could take on this wisp of a woman and come out victorious. Even if he did think it would be an incredible waste.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
The blonde was growing more agitated by the moment. She just wanted to get out of the public space. Was he really that dense that he was not going to cooperate? For her, that was the last straw. She's have to bring down the brute force here in front of passer-by. She didn't exactly want to, but what else was she to do? She had been hired to end this man's life.
After all, it was her last step to becoming a full assassin.
However, when he stepped forward and the blade pierced him, she was a little confused. Blood didn't pool like it was supposed to. What was wrong with this man? He wasn't normal, that much she gathered when he had stepped forward to pierce his own stomach. She wasn't exactly thrilled he had done that either. So the blonde's jaw tightened and she stared him down.
"My chances? I was hired to kill you. I'm trained. I don't like your chances." She snapped back. She had to keep a cool head or this was going to end badly for the both of them. If she didn't finish her job, some one else would and she was sure she'd be dead. That wasn't happening tonight, so she focused in on him. "With all due respect. I don't want to have to kill you in a public place. At least have some decency to find a secluded alleyway or something."
The blonde twisted the knife a little. She really was expecting blood to pour out the wound but nothing happened. What was he? What kind of person didn't bleed. She had heard stories about Harper Rock, but didn't really believe them. Was he one of them too? Some kind of weirdo?
She smirked then.
"Apparently, you haven't been such a good boy, Cedric Costello"

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
When the knife was twisted, Cedric’s smile masked the grimace of pain. Pain became far less of an issue when one knew that a wound would heal. It was a mind over matter thing. The smile was not fake. No, the businessman was genuinely amused that this young woman expected to be able to kill him.
”Good boy or not, your superiors have kept some vital information from you,” he said. He reached up to grab at the hand that held the knife; the skin was hot, and the harder he gripped the hand the more he could feel the pulse of blood beneath it. The woman was definitely human. What kind, though? Was she powered? Would she actually prove to be a challenge? Cedric made certain not to underestimate his current foe.
”Though perhaps they are not as smart as you think they are, and it’s information they haven’t been privy to,” he said. He yanked at the hand, his own completely cold and hard and merciless. He intended to squeeze hard enough to rattle some bones – to at least force the release of the knife.
There were plenty of other things that Cedric could do; there were plenty more abilities up his sleeve, but it was not the best idea to reveal them in a public place. For now, he used only brute force to make his point. This assassin had bitten off more than she could chew. She intrigued Cedric. Did she even know what he had done? Or did she just do as she was told? Did she have moral issue with him, or was she merely looking to get paid?
”Are you really sure you want to get into a scuffle with me, girl?” he asked, that part-grimace-part-smile still resting firmly and sweetly upon his lips.

"I'm not sure I really care about that information." She wasn't going to let this man rattle her. He was just one more step in her walk of revenge. She had trained hard for this moment, and she wasn't going to let some crooked man take it all away from her. However, when the hand grabbed hers, she had to grimace at the pain. He was definitely stronger than her, but the blonde had some tricks up her sleeves. The grasp on the knife was let go and she silently cursed under her breath. He didn't need to be getting a hold of her knife. It was the only thing she had from parents.
The blonde did the unthinkable and took another step closer, hand finding his to hold. He wouldn't be grabbing her knife. Not without a scuffle. The blonde worked her fingers in between his and then dug her nails into his skin. "Don't underestimate me just because I am a girl." She snapped at him. They were talking too much. She just needed to end it and end it quick.
"It doesn't matter, all you need to know is that tonight is your last night on this planet."
She smirked at the male and then quickly brought her knee up. She didn't know if it would connect or not, but it would be her best shot on getting free so she could grab her gun.

Re: Assassin's Creed [Cedric Costello]
This girl was doing a lot of threatening but not a lot of acting. Frankly, Cedric was sick of the talking, too. There were reasons why he didn’t want to kill her, not straight away. There were questions he wanted to ask. Who had hired her, and for what reason? What did they know, and could they be silenced?
Although her knee connected, Cedric merely grunted as his teeth bared. The fun was over. Power surged through Cedric’s veins, the shadows leaping to life around him. The shadows were his friends. They curled around the scuffling couple, hiding them from view. Security instantly dropped – any passerby just kept on passing. The noise muffled, like the two were in a private little bubble.
”It’s such a damned shame,” Cedric purred, voice low and sharp, accent stronger in his angered state. The girl was a looker, all legs and glowing skin. It would be a shame to watch her die.
”This isn’t going to be quick,” he said, and even as he said it the shadows thickened at his feet, his own visual echo coming to life, solidifying, a shining and ink-black knife thrusted at the blonde’s torso – he hoped for a non-vital organ, but he hadn’t used the ability as much as he could have, and couldn’t control it as well as he liked. He’d have to drag her bleeding body somewhere out of sight. He’d have to deal with that hurdle when he got there – but being a shadow, it shouldn’t be too hard.
