Anyone who is legitimately new? So, someone who knows how to work the grid, is a seasoned roleplayer, and has interacted with other members of the forum....we're disqualified, eh?Atabei Narcisse wrote:Note: This is not an opening for an elder, but a second generation character in one of the new Bloodlines.
In the spirit of promoting new rp and getting new players to stick on path (because we really need and want new blood!), I asked David if I could promote a contest for anyone that is new to win a slot under Atabei as a second generation character in the Mourinwa Bloodline.
This really sounded right up my alley. It is impressive that most everyone who joined around the time I did had to choose 5th Gen (I grabbed up one of the last remaining 4th Gens), yet we're telling random newbs to come in off the street and apply for a 2nd Generation character.
A 1st Gen contest catering to the few, a 2nd Gen contest catering to the new...with me being an individual who belongs to neither crowd.
Salty? Maybe a little, understandably.

Re: 2nd generation rp contest
There are benefits to being a lower gen vampire actually I believe. I don't remember the exact specifics, but I'll look them out for you. :)
And as you've been around a bit, maybe reach out to first gens and see if they'd be willing to create a slot for you to create a second gen? Or do the same with second, so you can make a third? No harm in asking.
Anyone taking part in the comp best of luck! Nice comp Becca, lovely of you to do this off your own back!

That's archived because it's out of date and many parts are no longer accurate.
The basic difference is fewer siring slots in exchange for more anima to start. So lower gens get lower anima but get to have more childer. With the Sire's Virility rit, which is very expensive, you can add more siring slots. But to add to anima level, all you have to do is level up.

I'm going to state here my reasonings for this competition once again (and possibly give further insight).Maximillion wrote:Anyone who is legitimately new? New players, either know NO ONE or know 1 or 2 people and come to a place where people have been here for years and that is intimidating for brand spanking new members. They are intimidated (sometimes) to join threads, or go into bloodlines where they know no one, so most either go with the one or two people they know, or start out as humans and are generally unhappy down the latter path. I'm sorry if that doesn't agree with you but I don't believe anyone else has really done that or offered that.
Now, personally, I'm sorry you feel 'salty.' Had you pressed the i button on atabei's cs, you would know who plays her and that I have tried to help you (both times you've been on path) and answer questions in any way I can. I didn't know you, I still don't really know you, but I have helped you and this is me going about helping another new person in a different way. I shouldn't be 'attacked' for that methodology.
I will leave you with this final note of thought:
1. No one else has done this-that I am aware of.
2. The ritual is expensive in both time and ingredient collecting.
3. The ritual provides 2 slots, I had only promised 1 to a brand spanking new player. Which means there would still be a slot open and available. Which had you come to me, as Jenny suggested (Boucher), I am positive we could have had talks and discussed a possibility of your idea since you appear so unhappy with being under Lisa McNally as a fourth gen, I think since she's a third.
4. Generation to me means nothing personally. I have a first and a 5th i think. My fifth can run with the best of them.
5. I don't have to do this. It's that simple.
Side note: Thank you Jenny for the best wishes and such. I'm excited for it.

I think you're looking too far into it and you could have discussed the matter with her to get a better idea of how she wants her competition to go. You can feel excluded from this, but there’s no reason to feel "salty" at all.Maximillion wrote:Anyone who is legitimately new? As they both mentioned, generation is primarily just a number and can be easily worked around over time. I, myself, find there to be no issue running a lower generation character at all and one of mine considers herself as a second gen due to the fact she is severed from her main bloodline and has started her own.
I'm still excited for anything that comes out of this competition, it's a really good idea and even as a "seasoned" member of Path I still have trouble getting out and roleplaying with people I'm unfamiliar with, so I can only imagine how it is for new players. This is a creative way to reach out to newer members of Path. :)
