Alaric here is the second-gen that I won in the most recent RP competition. He's an elder - born in 1570 and sired later on by Isabelle Drake of the Noble bloodline. The way in which he was sired meant that he was alone, and had plans to create his own family/bloodline just before he was killed in the holocaust.
THE HISTORY
- After a tumultuous beginning, Alaric soon decided that he would use his vampiric power and abilities to help his human lineage thrive and flourish. As a background figure, he oversaw the development of many different avenues for the family to make money. After a few decades only a few were privy to Alaric's vampirism, or to the fact that he was still alive. He was a recluse, but the stories continued to be told about him, and passed down through the families. After his death in 1794, the family continnued to keep to tradition until it all started to fall apart in the 1940s as a result of the second World War. Due to the complexity of the family tree that has been devised, there are von der Marcks (or von Marcks, or Marcks) that hail from all over the world (though predominantly Germany, France, and Canada).
Alaric had migrated his immediate family to Canada in the 1620s, and that's where the hub of the main familial activity presides. Maybe it was an instinctual calling that brought him so near Harper Rock. There is an estate at the furthest edges of the city which is still maintained by Alaric's lineage.

- What I hope to create is a bloodline made up not only of vampires, but of humans and pathed humans as well. After Alaric is back from the dead, it'll act as an impetus to bring the family together. There are plenty of ways in which distant relatives can learn about the gathering of the family; there are plenty of branches of the family tree that can be claimed. I figure there ought to be a lot of businesspeople, or different paths and occupations. It'll be like a supernatual German mafie in Harper Rock - a family with its fingers in all the pies. Eventually.
Anyone with the von der Marck name will be considered a von der Marck, and part of the family - Paladins might find it a little more difficult to be trusted and welcomed, but you'd be more than welcome to give it a try. Although to begin with Alaric himself will only be siring those of his own human bloodline, he may open himself up to others later on. Anyone who creates a von der Marck (either as a human or a vampire down the track) will also be given the choice to be added to the Noble bloodline, as Alaric will be meeting his sire for the first time and helping out with Noble, too.
- The point, you ask?
I'm being pre-emptive. If there's anyone interested in created a von der Marck character to be involved with this new bloodline and all the ensuing plots (it'll be an RP heavy bloodline, with plenty of GMed threads to influence chapters, etc) please shoot me a PM. You'll have an opportunity to help out with the family tree. Only humans for now - either pathed with plans to stay that way, or willing to be turned in future.
