Live It Up [Marjani]

Post by Caligrace »

Running her fingers through her hair, she scanned the computer screen in front of her. The light was blaring too bright, causing her eyes to ache, but she couldn’t seem to look away. The words continued to jump out at her, each more volatile than the last. Someone is in a mood, she thought wryly as she clicked to the next page, only to find yet another bittersweet welcoming. She hadn’t expected to be embraced or doted on, but the backlash rendered her nearly speechless - and that was something she had never thought possible. With a soft sigh, she shook out her scarlet curls and began to push from the desk, only to have her attention snagged by an unfamiliar name. Marjani.

There was something about what she had written that had caused her to sit back in her chair, the leather creaking quietly beneath her subtle weight. Flexing her fingers, she brought the cursor to her name and clicked it, her fingers prone above the keys before she could think twice. When the private message window popped up, she hesitated. What in the world was she going to say? Hi, I’m Caligrace, the scary allurist, do you want to chat? “This shouldn’t be this hard,” she practically whined, causing Elin to shift on the bed and roll onto her back. Her bright green eyes narrowed in on her, and she gave a haughty huff as she tossed a pillow at the back of her head. “Come on, girl, just send the message. She’s not going to bite. If she does, send her my way,” the brunette laughed, before rolling backwards off of the bed.

When she situated herself upright, she curled her hands along Caligrace’s shoulders and squeezed gently. “You’re overthinking it again. Come on, this isn’t you. You’re the life of the party. You literally bring the fire and sun with you,” she reminded her, before pressing a kiss to her mass of red curls. Through it all, she had remained quiet, her golden amber eyes filled with worry and self-doubt. She knew she was right, and yet, she couldn’t bring herself to send a message. With an annoyed sound, Elin pushed her out of the way and her fingers flew across the screen before she pressed send.

Hey, girl. I saw your message on the forum and thought we could meet. I’m assuming you’re the wife Nishaa talked about. If you want, e-mail me back and we can find a place to meet up?

xoxo

“Well, I guess that settles that, then.” Shaking her head with a grin, she pushed from the desk and leaped onto the bed, the pillows sinking beneath her as she grabbed the remote. Pulling up Netflix, she selected New Girl and pressed play on the season one finale. “We are so far behind, you know that, right?” The only answer she received was a grunt as the brunette tossed her a bag of twizzlers and collapsed into her side, head on her shoulder.

Mari was on Nishaa’s-no, their bed, painting her toenails tonight. It had been a toss up of Scream’n Green or Pucker-up Pink. The green would have been her first choice, but white, pale *** toes wiggled up at her and now Mari wasn’t sure either of those colors would fit her-or his-feet. Deciding not to decide, Mari picked both, resulting in 3 pink toes on each foot and two the shade of neon green on the other two. When her toe painting session was complete, Marjani wiggled them again, scraped off some excess color around the nail beds and then blew on them to quicken the drying process.

Once that was done, Marjani turned on the television to the Heroes return series she had saved in her and Nishaa’s TiVo app and hit play. “Baby, you wanna watch this?” Mari asked, glassy eyes glued to the television, ears locked on what was going on in the show, more than what was going on with Nishaa; missing the woman’s reply. Mari loved shows like these and movies too. Batman movies? All of them were in her possession? Superman? All but two in her collection. Spiderman? All those and every season of the heroes and x-files, minus the new seasons. She also liked Carnival. It didn’t have enough seasons in her mind frame.

Her phone vibrated on the bed during a commercial break, Mari checking on her nails during that commercial break. It was the only reason she actually ‘felt’ the phone vibrate on the bed was because she could care less about the commercials. It came from someone named Caligrace and that caught the woman’s attention. She opened the message all the way by pressing the alert and read the message a little more before laughing, catching Nishaa’s attention. “Just a message from one of the new ones, baby. I think she’s Freyja’s...girlfriend?” Mari wasn’t actually sure, and she didn’t really care either, but she suspected Freyja and Caligrace were like her and Nishaa. Which, NOTHING was wrong with that. “Just saying hi, and trying to figure out who I am.” Mari laughed, but then tossed the phone down the second the show came back on, eyes glued to it once again. “I hope they don’t get into any of that crazy time jumping around ****. Totally killed the series with all that crazy nonsense.” Mari mumbled as soon as the mention of Hiro whoever his name is came up on the show.

Once the next series of commercials came on, Mari would reply to the message.

Hey, girl! Yeah, I’m Nishaa’s wife! Aren’t I so lucky? Anyways, I’m watching Heroes right now, but maybe we can meet up after it ends? Plus I still need my toe nails to dry. Can’t ruin all my time and hard work now, can I?

Marjani

P.S. Just call me Mari! Everyone does.

With the message sent, Mari grabbed another jar of nail paint; Black, and began to draw flowers and hearts over the pink and green coloring.

"Why can't I find a guy like Nick?"
"You're serious? You're into the grumpy loser? What about Schmidt?!
"I can't date a guy who has more beauty products than I do!"

Shaking her head as they both fell into a fit of laughter, Caligrace rested back against the headboard and kept her attention locked on the screen. She couldn't see the appeal in Schmidt - but there was something about Nick that drew her in. His charm, his humor, his **** all attitude. He was like Luke from Gilmore Girls - and she loved it. "Is Elighan anything like Nick?" Elin's voice held a sugary sweet tone that she knew all too well, and she found herself swinging her pillow at her face as she chuckled. "Honestly, I don't know. We're still in that 'let's not show our flaws' stage. Well, mostly." Crinkling her nose up at the memory of their first date, she shook her head and forced herself to remained focus. She had other things to deal with, and she couldn't bring herself to focus too much on her relationship. No, she would just lose herself in Nick for a while - maybe she'd get some cleaning done, or ---

Bing!

The sudden bell sounding from her computer caused her to jump, and she crawled over the bed to lay on her stomach, her hands reaching out to grab the laptop and pull it from the desk. Bringing up the e-mail, she quickly scanned the message and smiled. "She seems sweet, at least. We're going to meet up in a bit, so we can watch another episode or two. I'll tell her just to e-mail me when her toes are dry." Her thrall didn't bother to ask her what she meant, and instead gave a squeal when Schmidt came out without his shirt on. Peeking over her shoulder, she stared at him for a moment, trying to see the appeal - but she just couldn't. It made sense in a way, though - Elin was more into women than men, and he had the entire metro-sexual thing going on. Shaking her head, she turned back to her e-mail and sent out a quick response before heading back to her shows.

That works perfectly! We're binging on New Girl right now, so just give me a response when you're headed out and where you want to meet. I'll be there! xoxo

P.S: Make sure you don't ruin your nails. That is the worse!

Mari wouldn't dare touch the phone until the woman was positive her nails were near close to dry. Not when she worked this hard for perfection. While Mari took the time to put nail polish on her nails every week or so, Mari was also the type to let them go; cracking, chipping, rubbing off over normal, every day wear and tear and not giving two craps about how they looked until she was in the mood to do something with them again. But, for one or two nights, she wanted them to remain unscathed and perfect.

When Mari finally grabbed the phone with the tips of the flesh on her thumb and middle finger, she slowly turned the phone around to see a new message, from the same number. A fat thumb punched in the four digit pin on the screens glass surface to unlock the thing so she could read the remainder of the message and not just the number it came from and the first five words. She wiggled her toes, helping those along to dry, the last of her nails to be painted of all twenty total, thinking on what to reply back with.

Girl, don't I know it? I can't keep them looking nice for more than a couple nights. Such is life, right? I'll be done here in about ten minutes, want to meet at the cafe by the library in Honeymead? We can make plans from there.

Mari almost hit send, but then remembered she didn't know what they were doing or if Caligrace even had anything planned. So the woman added to the text with a P.S. What's the dress code? Mari added some hearts to the text, and bounced over the bed over to the closet, grabbing a couple possible choices in outfits for the night, while waiting for her reply.
