Interview with a Bartender [Indigo]

Post by Amalea »

Despite the influx of fledglings and humans into Harper's Rock, it seemed to Amalea, manager of The Dungeon, that finding employees was much like finding a needle in a haystack. Her and Aysel, the manager for the other portion of the club - The Necropolis, - had put out help wanted ads weeks ago, with very little success. The one sitting on the red-head's desk was the first they had received. There had been no red-flags that set off her warning bells, so she had invited the woman in for an interview.

Waiting for her candidate to arrive, the human rose from her desk to make her way over to the small seating area on the opposite end of the office. She plucked the pillows off each end of the couch only to fluff them up before replacing them. Turning, she repeated her actions on the sole pillow occupying the upholstered chair. Magazines laying on the table between were tidied up before she nodded in approval. Lea wasn't a neat or organizational freak by any means, but she did believe that first impressions counted just as much for the employer as the perspective employee.

A glance at the clock told the human that her guest would arrive shortly as she depressed the catch that opened a hidden rest area. Stepping though, she turned to use the mirror to check her appearance. With practiced ease, lip gloss and eyeshadow were touched up before she straightened her shirt. It was a classic plunge v-style neckline that had looked far too low cut on the hanger, but fit the red-head perfectly. Ensuring her pin was safely secured, she smiled at her reflection before retreating back to the office and closing the door.

The security staff had already been made aware of the interview and shown the woman's photo. It was her standard procedure to do so, if she had a photo available, as it helped cut down on others trying the 'I have a meeting with the manager' tactic to get through the door. What most didn't realize was that once a legitimate visitor was through the door, they were met by an escort that brought them to the office. This ensured that they weren't disturbed and didn't end up lost. Lea also found it more professional than just giving simple directions, particularly since the club was about catering to its clientele.

Indigo sent three selfies to Adley. Mostly because the guy had this distance thing still going on which was fine. She was starting to get why he was all ‘hi-from-way-over-there’ deal. He was cursed or something. It would just take a few calls. Witch doctors, some smoke and sacrifice perhaps. She was pretty sure that there was a way to get in there and just war cry that out of him but it was first and foremost time to get a job. The selfies were of possible outfits for an interview. The text she received back pretty much was what she expected. She pulled the hat back on and grabbed her purse. It was time to go to the interview and nail it with her personality. If she didn’t then it would be one of those things that she would shake off and send out more applications. Perhaps it would come down to more modeling or teaching at a dance studio.

Arriving to the Necropolis was a first for her. She stepped into the door and was quickly engaged by what appeared to be security. The face was unfamiliar to her and the demeanor instantly was one that left her feeling safe. Though from exactly what was still lost on her. While she followed the lead ahead of her she glanced at the interior of the club as she moved in the same steps ahead of her. The place had a dark vibe to it and her eyes took in the theme. Glancing down at her straight, black dress that clung to her curves as she waited for the one in front of her to open a door she wondered if the hat was a bit much. Her hand was about to reach up and pull it off but the nod of the head in front of her distracted her. It seems she was moving forward with the hat on her head.

The position she applied for was bartending. It was not a job foreign to her. It was a great way to meet people, gain contacts and the tips could be great if you were able to be up on your game with the patrons. Of course Indigo had no idea to what to expect as she continued on in the route the security that was leading her. A gothic club perhaps? She had some recent knowledge that there was a little more night life out there to cater to than she was aware of before. The guys she lived with in the Hive were proof. Not that she was totally in the loop as to how things worked because she wasn’t. Another glance around the place told her that perhaps she was closer than ever to finding out. It screamed dark and decadent. Not a bad thing at all. In fact she was enjoying it. Indigo was an open book and mind to boot.

Once the personnel left her to sit on a sofa she leaned over and picked up one of the magazines and started thumbing through it. As she waited she glanced randomly over the magazine in her hands. Her fingers reached into her purse and tapped her cell phone to silence. She pulled the tote from her shoulder and set it down on the seat next to her. Now it was a matter of patience and growing curiosity.
