Sorry, I figured it would affect gameplay one day too, if the game goes a certain way. As for distance, I'd probably say like ... 10 miles in any direction?

could it be possibility that the greater the distance after ten miles, the greater the odds increase of a fail/misfire? For example, at 15 miles out, there is a 5% chance and at 110 miles out 100% chance or something along those lines? And for rp fun maybe the tome doesn't just not work perhaps if sends them someplace really unexpected? (like into a wall or an angry mob or a hot tub of old ladies... whatever.)
