The man announced himself by shoving Jameson's feet off of a desktop workspace, which had the simultaneous effect of making the vampire immediately rouse from his half asleep state, and sending his laptop flying towards the floor. In the next several seconds, a few things occurred. First, Jameson, who had been having a pretty pleasant dream about scoring an awesome antique urn from a museum, immediately woke up and was faced not with a stack of high red fifty notes, but with the prospect of an expensive (if abused) piece of technology shattering. He then lunged forward to try and grab it, which would have been effective had he not been also cocooned in a layer of blankets, which he naturally tripped over. Then Chase caught the computer by its spine, holding the object in the shape of a wide 'v'. And Jameson's face planted against a chest hard.

"You know, **** you." Said the vampire, though his voice was muffled by the expensive cut of a suit jacket.

That was just how Chase dressed. He was always in a suit of some kind. Usually the colors were dark, either navy or a deep, nearly black grey, but sometimes he wore Matlock light grey, beige, or a delicate shade of blue. He called them 'daywear'. Jameson felt it was all very pretentious. He shoved at a chest, and his wiry arms shouldn't have had the ability to do much more than muss a recently pressed white button down. Chase was forced back a step, and Jameson groggily grabbed for the laptop, which he missed by about a half inch. He then closed one eye, as if he was trying to aim a firearm, and swiped again, this time nabbing the object of his attention.

He kicked the blankets from around his ankles, so that the folds spread open and he was able to flop back into his seat, which was shaped vaguely like a teacup a section of the cup part missing. It was one of those pieces of furniture that one does not so much sit on, as sink into the depths of. Well worn in, he had found it on the side of the road and febreezed it. Good as new.

That was when Chase straightened the line of his suit. The man was about as opposite Jameson as a person could possibly be. For one, his hair was dark, not the muddy brown of Jameson's own locks, but a deep black with so much depth that it seemed to have blue highlights from time to time. His eyes were green and grey, like cloudy jade, and under the weight of his brow, they were like lasers. He also had a chin butt and strong jaw, which were emphasized by immaculately groomed face pubes. Muscular from years of athletic achievement, Jameson was determined not to find him attractive in the slightest. It should have been impossible to be both classically handsome and also exotically hot. Guys like that, the vampire felt, were assholes just for existing.

Of course, it was Chase's appearance that had won him many a heart, and why his early morning show was so popular. Ultimately, it was the human's connections to the media, local news stations, and his many fans that made him useful to Jameson. So. He wasn't about to complain too much. That had been the plan after Jameson had dismissed Dr. Ozymandias. Find someone with a bit of clout.

"Despite the rumors, I only swing that way if I've got a few beers in me." Came the calculated yet smooth response.

Jameson just shot him a withering look and pulled his laptop properly open to get a good look at what he'd been doing. Per the meeting with the MC a few days before, the allurist had been going through days worth of footage to collect car makes and models, along with license plates, and as many clear images of faces as he could manage. It was rewarding work, or he assumed it would be once he finally sent everything off in a tidy package. However, it was also extremely boring. Thankfully he was in the final stages, and just needed to go through all the stills he'd captured to make sure there were no redundancies.

Chase moved closer, undoing a button on his jacket so he could sit on the edge of a desk (which Jameson wasn't actually using). One leg was left slanted so a foot could remain in contact with the ground, and the other dangled to show off expensive shoes. Fingers wove together and rested above the knee. Jameson could feel eyes on him and he glanced up. Grunted. "What?" He finally asked.

"Just watching you. I'm supposed to be doing your bidding, aren't I?" For a split second, the veneer of the charming, toothy man flinched out of the way to reveal something more aggressive, with sharper teeth and pointed ears. Jameson felt the slightest chill. In another life, Chase wouldn't have given Jameson the time of day - and that wasn't some high school sentiment like "Oh, they don't know I exist"; it was more complex than that. Men like Chase were used to always having power, always being in control. Publicly, Chase was charismatic, intelligent, articulate. He could say something and it went from being words to being the voice of a generation. Jameson suspected the private version of the same man was less glorified.

"I thought you hated being seen in this part of town." Jameson said, as he went back to typing away at the keyboard, bringing up images, storing some in a file, tossing others into the trash.

"It's growing on me." He said, the words brisk yet dismissive. Chase reached out then and tapped lightly at the very top of the laptop's edge. "I also put together that story you wanted. The gang war between the Lionelli and the Triads. I won't lie though, getting my fingers on the evidence from my police contact was a little tricky."

Jameson glanced up again, this time focusing on a fingertip on his computer. "And the cops are for sure leaning that direction?"

"Sure." Came the answer.

"Nothing yet to implicate the Nightlords in any of it?"

"Not at all."

"Great, I need you to pull the story."

"What?" The word was sharp.

"Look, I just think doing an exposé might be a little much. At some point, all the fingers pointing in one direction are going to look suspicious to someone."

"Yeah, we call those UFO-chasing, crackpots."

"I said no."

"It will look odd if we don't report on it. Especially if there are police leads going in that direction. Do you know how ******* big this whole thing is? Multiple gangs trying to snap up whole tracts of Harper Rock, and consolidate power bases. If you think that won't hit the news, and soon, you're wrong. At least if it's me, I can offer you and your motor club a media shield to operate without too many eyes on you."

There was a low sound that came from Jameson then, that was a lot like an irritated dog giving a half growl. "Fine. Just keep your ear to the ground, and if anything comes your way about the club, let me know immediately. Actually, we have a lawyer now. Name's Wilson, he'll be..."

"...in the yellow pages."

"On Google."

"Right, right."

"Anyway, it may be important for you to build some sort of professional relationship with him in the future, so drop whoever you have as your current legal council and pay his retainer." Surprisingly there was no real argument there.

Jameson compressed the file and then transferred it over to a portable USB. He then capped it at the port end and handed it off to the thrall. "You can take this to him when you go. Just say it's from Jameson, and he should know what it's about. If you need to, you can explain the nature of our relationship."

"Relationship?" The word was spoken with practiced ease, and there was the subtlest shift in the way the human sat, which caused his pants to abruptly pull snug against a thigh. The result was a sizable bulge that made Jameson more uncomfortable than anything. He closed his laptop and shoved it onto the desk before stretching. He stood up so he could avoid looking at Chase.

"You know what I mean." He muttered before he lowered a hand to scratch at his side, then he began to amble off in the direction of the kitchen. Somewhere along the way, Chase stood, buttoned his jacket and followed.

"You know I would have thought being ingratiated to a vampire..." Ingratiated was the term Chase used to describe his slavery "… might have been a sexier experience."

"You've been reading too much Rice."

"Alas, fiction is once again superior to reality."

"Thanks." Came a biting response, as Jameson poured himself a mug of coffee and then one for his thrall. Chase took it up and drank it black. Jameson couldn't stand coffee without enough creamer to both cool it, and make it a closer to a tan color.

"You know you're eventually going to have to either turn me or let me die." The human said conversationally. Like the two had talked about the same subject a dozen times. "That's the end game isn't it?"

"Maybe." The vampire replied after a shot of caffeine.

"I'd just rather you do it before my looks begin to go."

"Bit late for that, isn't it?" Jameson asked. And for a second, that mask Chase wore disappeared, only it wasn't a beast hiding underneath this time. The expression of hurt dissipated as quickly as it appeared, and Jameson felt like a dick.

"You haven't even been my human for a year." He began as he put his mug down, twisting so he could take a step closer to Chase. His hand lifted. He felt stubble on his palm for a moment. He felt smooth, thick hair under his fingers. The human was guarded. Jameson could tell he had done something wrong. Normally he wouldn't have cared, but Chase was his. He had a certain responsibility to 'try'. "You may know more about the world, and everything else that happens in the daylight hours, but this is what I know. This is my strength. You'll earn your fangs, and your eternal youth, and your immortality, but hold onto your life while you have it. Once it's gone, you'll miss it."

Chase's features softened for a moment and Jameson had no clue if the words sank in, or if they were accepted as trite. Either way, the thrall stepped away towards the door. "I'll call you later." He said. "What's your current number?"

Jameson gave him the number, and then Chase fled, to deliver the necessary information to Wilson. He plucked his mug back up and took another sip. His phone vibrated on the counter where he left it to charge most days. Plucking it up, he noted the latest text, which appeared to be the image of a middle finger, which was perfectly manicured, carefully tanned. The background was an expensive car and Chase's cheesy 'camera' smile.

Despite the rumors, I only swing that way if there are a few beers in me. He texted back.

"Asshole." He said out loud. Good naturedly.

Then he sent off a text to Wilson: Sending those images your way by proxy. Any headway on tracking down the big boss man? Phone me if you want to meet or something. We just need some leads. Vic and I can do the fieldwork." He hit send, and went back to his evening routine.

John and Jane sat at the table in their apartment under Sanctuary, the latter watching as the former broke down and reassembled the sniper rifle he had crafted. After stripping it down he uses a degreaser on the firing pin, cleaning it thoroughly before doing the same with the striker spring and the bolt. The cold weather adds it factors that could cause the lubricant he prefers to us on the weapon to become gummy. It’s a pain in the *** to switch over to his cold weather preferences but necessary. He doesn’t want anything to mess up in the heat of battle. The grease is replaced with MPro-7 Gun Oil and the inspection of the rifle continues.

Jane watches from across the table half-interested, filing her nails as John works. She hasn’t asked her brother yet if she will be a part of the strike team that assaults the headquarters and he hasn’t mentioned it. She assumes though that she will be. As a necromancer she fills an important support role in their little two two squad, she is the healer. A variety of clicks and snaps fill the air followed by the rifle being set down between them. John begins to now load the magazine for the rifle.

John slides each round, .308 subsonic ammo the flavor of the day, into the staggered column detachable magazine and pushes it into place before giving it a single blow with the heel of his hand. A final click and the weapon it ready

Jane glances over as John again begins breaking it down, this time for transport. Each piece is carefully set into the specially designed case, an attache that any businessman could be seen carrying around with them.

Looking up from the completed work, John smiles to Jane. “You ready for this?”

Jane arches a single brow to her brother. She’s in a mood brought on by his assumption she has no plans of her own, pissed that he didn’t think to even consult her about it. “Ready for what? Your rifle? No, maybe it’s best you keep it all… broken down and put away. “ It was a cruel shot at him, but carried a lot of truth behind it. “I made plans to go to the mall with a friend. You never told me you needed me for this little mission and definitely never asked if I was interested.”

John winced. She was pissed, definitely. He could use the control brought on by the enthrallment to shut her up, to make her come with him without an argument but he didn’t like to do that. She was right too. He hadn’t asked her to come, just assumed she would.

“I’m sorry Jane,” he started in and then his eyes narrowed. The mall? What friend? A guy? Who the hell was this friend? He decided to probe. “So you are going with a friend to the mall… okay… who is she?”

Jane tilted her her and gave him a look. “Mhmm. Just ask if it’s a guy. Go ahead.”

“Is it?”

“Yes, but I’ll blow him off if you need me to come with you. It’s no big deal.”

No big deal, he thought. No big deal? It’s another guy! Of course it’s a big deal! He gritted his teeth. This wasn’t the place. “Would you please? I’d feel a lot better with you in my corner.”

Jane gave him a smile that was sweeter than sugar. “Of course, brother.” The emphasis on the familial term noticeable and causing John to flush.

Yeah, it was time to pull out the big guns. “Look, I’ll make it up to you Jane, I got you tickets to Prima Dawna.”

Hearing that Jane’s eyebrows went up and then she was up and around the table hugging John ferociously. “You did?!”

“V.I.P. baby. Two tickets. I thought we could go together but if you met this guy…” He let’s the sentence trail off.

“Of course it’ll be me and you silly! You bought the tickets! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh my God! I need an outfit! Let’s hurry up and kill these guys so I can go shopping!” She gave him a kiss that was well beyond what propriety allowed for between siblings and then swept off to get ready for a night-mission.

John watches her go with an appreciative gaze that, like the kiss was far beyond what siblings should share with one another. He’d done well, she would no doubt reward him with her blood later and maybe he would even get to choose where he drank from…

He focused back on the task at hand. Picking up the phone he dialed Mkvenner. “Does ready.”

Post by Kamikaze »

Sitting in her West Towers apartment, Kamikaze had changed into a pair of slacks and her Ramones t-shirt, something comfortable, especially if she was going to move a lot. With Reverend still in his duffelbag, she searched along her wall for a blade or sledge that would work in union. Her warhammer had done wonders against fadebeasts in days past, though she wanted something faster. Anguish it was. The blade reminded her of a scimitar, and Velveteen’s craftsmanship had always impressed her. Grabbing the massive blade, she also snagged the sheath, strapping both to her back.

Her phone buzzed a bit, with idle news updates, and she knew she was ready. Texting Ven as she was on the move, she smiled, the voices within her mind at full blast today. Ready. Give time and place. Violence thereafter.

The Shadow looked to her motorcycle, then thought about it. It was going to be rather loud, plus she did not know where she was to meet up with the others. She’d rather go by foot, even if it looked strange, especially carrying the duffelbag around. Then again, she figured with how others looked and acted around her, it wasn’t something that would matter. Shooting another text, she sent it to the woman that was standing in for her, at the Dojo in the university. Unsure if I will be in tomorrow. Go ahead and plan accordingly.

Perhaps she was being a bit cautious, in case **** hit the fan, but she had learned with past transgressions to always be prepared for every single possible outcome. It was in this way, that she had a near obsession, when her psychosis allowed her to. The personality of Kamikaze was currently working in tandem to Shizuka, and they were trying to focus. They needed to. If not, people could and would get hurt. The people that weren’t supposed to. The white noise began to pulse, as the Shadow started into the elevator.

Floor by floor, her thoughts passed, attempting to take in possible outcomes. It was then, that the Shadow’s wraith whispered within the mind, that it was all going to go to hell. Pausing, with a wrinkle to her nose, she looked up at the floating spirit, and decided that this was going to be a bit more interesting, especially if the little ******** of a wraith was tagging along. It never lifted her mood, when it could have, only attempting to sour it, or lead her to depression, or worse.

A serious look overtook the woman, as she took a needless breath, the air doing nothing but causing her to release ash from her lips as she released it. Every now and then, she checked her phone, just to see if the man had returned her text. When the ground floor was reached, she exited, and slipped quietly through the lobby and out the door, to the parking lot, where she would wait, leaning against the outside wall of the apartment complex.

Sending Ven a voice message, she continued to wait.

The best of Led Zeppelin flowed through the second floor of Vita Bella. It was accompanied by the sweet calming fragrance of what could only be described as 'homegrown good times.’ Inked feet tapped at the floor beneath while the last of her current order for alternative security devices was in the final stage of completion. Nothing could go wrong with the current music playing in her ears. That is what the raven haired shadow believed as the parts in her hands continued to fit perfectly as if the fate of world’s most challenging puzzle was resting on her shoulders to solve. It was hardly that though. It was almost too easy. The thrill of doing what used to be the impossible was still there but it shifted in the process where it was delivered. Now the rush of reward came from holding the final product in near perfect quality instead of the rush of actually getting it together. The unexpected explosions and mishaps ended when she mastered the art of trap making. Perseverance and tenacity always paid off in the end.

The remaining loose pieces of the shock cage were expertly placed leaving HOPE and LESS empty. Each reached out and took hold of the cage and gave it a shake to the rhythm of the intro to ‘Ramble On’. Each musical shiver and clink of the trap was music to her fine tuned ears. If there was something off she could literally hear it and know just what needed adjusting. Setting the trap to the side she pulled out her cell and twirled slowly in the swivel shop chair while she waited for the call to connect. As soon as the call was picked up a rose adorned foot stopped the one seat merry-go-round ride she was on.

“S’up?”

The voice was a welcoming tune to hear even if the first sound was incredibly brief. She didn’t hear it often and that was one reason. Another would be the fact that catching up with the guy was not as easy as she would like. What thief and dealer of hard to find parts should be?. The rustle of movement in the background clued her in on the fact he was likely on the move. A soft but repetitive beeping sound offered up a clue that left her wondering what car he took a seat in this time. It was never the same. He had his own modus operandi just like the rest in the business of acquirement and distribution of contraband. He switched cars, appearances, contact numbers and places he rested as often as she switched the music she listened to.

“You going to be free anytime? I have a couple ideas I would like to share with you.” Dominique leaned back and pulled out her shoes and slid them on.
“I got an hour or two. Do I bring the usual?” Just as he asked the jaw tightening rev of an engine fired up twice.
“Tease. Or did you finally get your hands on one?” Once the shoes were on she popped out of her seat and headed into the elevator weighed down by three body sized Kevlar bags loaded with her expected delivery.
“Once again found what you couldn’t.” Of course he did. There was no mistaking the source of the sound when he let the engine loose.
“Killing me with those words.”

The shadow’s wide chocolate orbs set on the current shop car waiting for her in the underground garage. What it needed was one of those Hayabusa turbo engines to bring it to life and blow its miniature doors off. With that jolt of power it would become a wheelstanding wonder. She opened the door and slid into the standard seat. At least he wouldn’t die of laughter when he found her in it. He was just as expired as she was.

Once she made the delivery of the bags that took up most of the limited interior car space she headed over to the twenty four hour laundromat where he gave her directions to. Once she spotted the automotive beauty of the Lexus LFA that nearly blended with the snow piled up around the parking lot she parked the red rollerskate she was driving a few space down. A quick glance at the handful of winter beaters that were dotted between reminded her it was rather obvious that the whole blending in thing was not happening for either of their rides. She shrugged and headed towards the steamed up double doors. HOPE granted her access with a smooth pull back allowing her body to clear the door frame and step inside.

While the fresh scents of lemon and lavender tried to overpower the subtle notes of what people tried to claim was inspired by cotton slow steps were taken weaving through the rocking metal squares responsible for shaking the stink out of strangers wardrobes. The shadow moved like she had business being inside with the tumbling machines that adorned the walls. Only thing about her that stood out was that she wasn’t toting a plastic basket full of week old socks and sweats. She glanced around while standing in the middle of the open space. There was no where he could be hiding so she leaned to the side wondering if he was hanging out on the floor. With him anything was possible.

“I will get those parts ordered.”

The sound of his voice had her looking over her shoulder and discovering that the reason he was out of view was that he was behind the door marked with the wafer thin silver bar sporting OFFICE. As he stepped out and the door closed behind him she smiled a little and sent her hands into her front pants pocket out of habit.

A dark sea of unruly curls framed the unforgettable grey eyes and adorable dimples that bloomed on his otherwise chiseled and prettier than most face. There was something about him that said trouble every time she saw him but there was no question is was all the tempting and unforgettable kind.

“How ya doin, kid?” The scent of his preferred cloves filled her nose as she felt the weightlessness of his strong bear size embrace lift her up. “Missed you.”
“I can tell.” She squeaked out as his arms tightened up like flesh covered jaws of life about to extract her from something besides the air around them. A dull pop echoed and she felt the relief in her lower spine. She patted his back in return. “Thanks. I was meaning to work that out later. Now put me down before people start talking.”
“No one gives a ****, kid.” He dropped her to her feet and looked her over.
“Yeah, and that is how I want to keep it.” Her eyes drifted up and finally reached his. It was as if he had grown since she last met up with him. “I see you are doing well.”
“New ride and business ventures.” He nodded to the office door behind him then wrapped an arm around her petite shoulders guiding her with his new steps forward. “I can’t complain.”
“So, you Mr. Clean now?” She was pretty sure the killer who had a talent for getting quick possession of what was never meant to be his couldn’t be turning into the King of Bubbles. “I hope not.”
“Relax.”

His body sank into one of the red plastic seats that lined the long front windows of the business. While he got comfortable she looked out to the darkness that was on the other side and ignored the outside mist clinging to the glass that could distorted her view. The sound of his large hand bouncing on the plastic caught her attention.

“Have a seat.”
“You own this place or what?” Her backside slid into the cradle of textured plastic.
“A friend does.” The sound of coins shooting down into the change dispenser echoed. “Why you looking to buy?”
“You are a funny man.” She laughed. “But I am interested in getting the usual from you and offering you a deal in return.” The sound of denim and plastic created a subtle hiss as she moved to settle back. “Think you are up for it?”
“I got your back kid.”

The years of experience between their outer appearances came out clear in the tone of his voice. She felt it. He would make a great addition to the Night Lords if that was his kind of thing but it wasn’t. He was never in one spot long enough to set his roots as he called it.

“And I yours.”

Dominique looked to the couple that sat within earshot. Apparently the tighty whiteys were bleeding pink thanks to a red item that magically jumped in all on its own into the load of hot wash. One was baffled and the other was in search of bleach in the vending machine. She rolled her eyes as she stood up.

“Let’s take this outside where we can discuss it and you can show me what I failed to find for you.“ She hooked her thumb to the front doors behind her and stepped back.

An hour later the Hello Kitty smart car rolled into the parking lot of The Handle Bar. While the last of her Monster drink was swallowed down HOPE tapped out the confirmation text to Ven who was more than likely hanging out inside. The supplier she always counted on came through and was willing to move the stuff on the streets as well. Win win.

“Coming in. All is good as gold. Got what we needed and can start moving.”

Once the text was sent she opened the sunroof above her and decided to kick back and count the stars. There was no rush. All things were coming together in their own sweet time.

The giant stands motionless in the doorway, the faint lumescent glow fromt the outer edges of the focused spotlights before him gently illuminate the craggy features of his stoic face. He has not moved in over seventy- two hrs, seemingly frozen in time and space. Heterochromic eyes snap open as the sound of hard drives whirring behind him slowly wind down to a barely heard hum. Slowly his head turned as his hand came up to adjust the back stetson perched at Andean heights on his brow. Tugging the brim lower he stepped forward as a muttered “seventy-two” could be heard slipping from his lips. Once upon a time the killer had been one of the premier hackers in the city, probably the world, and the five computers behind him were the best money could buy, he had made sure of that. Three days had been spent setting things up, releasing his programs into the web…. but as he had stepped through the door of his safe something had caught his attention. The brobdingnabian killer had caught a flicker, a minute one, of a security system coming online to attempt a save… and had instantly slaved the computing power of those five mini supercomputers to the formidable processing power of his own brain, and linked in telepathically through obscure nodes to personally direct the attacks against the triad. For an additional three days, he had stood unmoving as he crushed every effort, every attempt, every firewall, virus scan, block, simply everything the triads IT people had tried to throw up in defence. All of it was now laid to waste, all of their extensive data was open and ripe for the picking, as he released his control and let everything run free.

A small shudder wracked his frame as he stepped inside the safe and let his eyes rove. one pint in six days...he needed blood, the slums would not be safe this night, he need to get to the church, and the slums were just too conveniently close to the HandleBar. Death would stalk the streets of the slums tonight. The hours on net had taken a toll and his mental resources were drained, but within the walls of his safe, no thought was needed. Every single weapon, every magazine or clip, every knife and sword, every box of ammunition, everything in the safe had its own place, and was always there, always ready. Load out for any mission could be accomplished in his sleep on muscle memory alone. Experts said it took three to five thousand repetitions to learn a movement completely and flawlessly, and one thousand to maintain that level. It was said that to gain the mental acuity of a chess grandmaster, it took over ten thousand hours of play. When it came to the art of killing, the killer known as Mordchai had surpassed those numbers long, long ago. Fingers trailed across the cabinet tops till he reached the back wall where he slipped a load bearing vest over his massive shoulders and set the straps. One hand slipped to ceramic plates from their shelf as the other opened the zippers of the vest. As he slipped them into place his tired mind wandered over the course of actions that had led up to this night. His life had been forged in a crucible that had created a level of loyalty seldom seen these days, From his love for his grandfather to the mantra of the Corps. Two Glock 20 gen 4’s disappeared into the vest holsters before the pouches filled with magazines. He had but just joined the Night Lords, he was only a prospect, rocker, no colors, but he had unhesitatingly agreed to join them in this endeavor, to wipe the triads from the city. The six pouches each held three magazines loaded with fifteen rounds of Hornady’s 175 GR FlexLock® Critical Duty® bullets. His eyes closed as he rehashed the memories of the first meeting, he had missed the second, bound to his computers, destroying any electronic edge the triads might have had. Reaching out with his mind, he cautiously touched that of Mkvenner’s as his hands unerringly lifted two more Glocks, these were G40’s outfitted with the Gen4 MOS modular optic systems, topped with EOTech 558 holographic sights. Slipping them into the leg holsters, the added heft of the six inch barrels a welcome weight along his thighs. As they settled into place he began his conversation as he stepped from the office wrapped in shadows and headed for the door, “I hunger, and must feed. I will be ready then. Where do we meet?”

Post by Mkvenner »

Today was the day. Finally.

They had all been working hard, every single member and prospect pulling together, to make the culmination of the plan a reality and to pull it off. What had started so simply as a brute force take over of the territory the Night Lords called him had changed, grown into something far more elaborate and cunning than Ven had been able to imagine when they had started. Originally, all he had wanted to do was walk in and kill all the Triads. They had the guns and the supernatural on their side, after all, and he didn’t see it being too hard a plan to pull off. Now, though, they were essentially doing that but also setting up the Lionelli gangs for the attack and then setting the feds on everyone to mop up for them.

Each member had done something.

Jameson had provided expert intel and recon for the club, weaseling his way (quite literally) into Triad operations to find out what went on in each location and who they would need to take out to create maximum impact. He had set up a network of CCTV cameras to monitor the comings, goings and general day to day operations of each location he scouted, making sure that the club didn’t miss a trick. He’d earned his top rocker already, in Ven’s mind. He’d need to get them in on order in preparation.

John and Jane Doe. They were a little… odd, but then who wasn’t in a city run by vampires and threatened almost constantly by fae. Odd was par for the course in this city, and they were incredibly useful - providing the man inside that the club needed to get even more sensitive intel from the Triads, as well as bombing their stash house and another job yet to be ‘completed’. Both of them, like Jameson, had earned their rockers.

Wilson had been an odd arrival to the club, but a valuable one all the same. It was because of him that the MC knew which locations to scout out, how to hurt the Triads in the most subtle ways. And it would be because of Wilson that the feds would mop up whatever the club left them, allowing the Night Lords to simply move into the territory unopposed. Especially with all eyes looking to the Lionelli when the screaming had stopped. Another rocker for this guy.

Kamikaze and Mordechai were a little different. As yet, they had worked mainly behind the scenes. Kami jumping on shadows and whispering things about dolls’ eyes (Christ knows, and Ven really didn’t want to), and Mordechai penetrating their network security to find out even more about their operations. Brains before bullets had become the order of the day, but now it was time for bullets and blood. And Ven felt that these two would be perfect for the job at hand. He almost felt sorry for the Triads they were going to run into. And then through or over.

Of all the places he had expected to follow the Triad boss to, this wasn’t what he had expected. Luck was already on their side, it seemed.

With the roar of his engine dying away, Ven pulled up to the side of the road. He straightened his cut, looking around him as he did so. It was a fairly nondescript part of Redwood, ironically not too far from his bar, but it was the final HQ of the Triads. From his own recon work, their boss was in there right now rather luckily for them. Presumably asking his unfortunate associates just what the **** was happening to their business concerns and where their coke had gone. Ven chuckled as he thought of how Dom’s supplier must be enjoying that particular windfall. He pulled his phone from the inside pocket of his jacket.

The first text went to the Does - Time’s here. Send our friend to the Lionelli and then come meet me at The Place.

The next was a group message to the rest of the club - Game faces on, boys and girls. Meet me at The Place, bring your toys. Time for a little Chinese take out.

He slipped his phone back into his pocket and checked his weapons. He always hated the wait before the fighting started, but the after party would definitely be worth it.

The text received, John looked to Jane for a moment and nodded. “It’s on.” His sister looked up from her nails once more and nodded, rising to her feet. “Good. Then we can go shopping.” John sent out the telepathic message to Pai Mei and somewhere in the city a truck’s engine roared to life.

The driver of course, was the enthralled Yongheng Triad gangster, Pai Mei. He was aware what the mission was, didn’t want to do it, would have done anything but this had his will been his own and simply had no choice. He knew this wasn’t going to end well for him. He’d already been given instructions to bite down hard on the little capsule nestled between his cheek and lower gums if he somehow managed to survive long enough to get captured. The thought of what was going on nearly brought tears to his eyes. He was meant to get rich in this life. He was meant to get rich enough to buy a few clubs and then get fat and happy while half naked bitches and drunken patrons filled his bank accounts. He was meant to ~be someone~. He wasn’t meant to die. He was meant to be given the blood, to become a Blood Thief. He was meant to be immortal, maybe even become a vampire some day. He’d had ~plans~.

Without wanting to, without thinking about it he shifted the truck into gear and began heading north

John and Jane were just throwing on their long jackets as the vehicle rolled onto the road. They turned to each other at the same time, hands going up into each other’s hair, finalizing touches, Joahn licking a thumb and fixing a slight smudge on Jane’s makeup, Jane plucking a small hair John had missed shaving. John turned around, Jane brushing of some lint on his jacket, then the process was reversed, John pulling errant strands from Jane’s ponytail out from the collar of her coat to join the rest of them before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss on her neck. “Remember, just stick with me and watch my back. I’m only acting as a sniper here so you likely won’t have to do anything.”

Jane turned and looked at him, tilting her head to the side. “Is that a command?”

John frowned. “No, just a request. Don’t start this again please Jane. You know I wouldn’t…”

Her finger to his lips as her head lowered, eyes looking up at his playfully, hushing him. “I was kidding. Let’s go kick some ***.”

Out into the cold they went, emerging from the Sanctuary building and making their way to the car, a beat-up ‘93 Chrysler LeBaron convertible that he’d acquired specifically for the job. It belonged to one of Pai Mei’s friends. The friend was not a Triad member, but someone who had known he was a member of the gang. Pai Mei had asked to borrow it. John planned to leave the vehicle on site so the police would link the borrowed car being at the Triad’s hangout with Pai Mei after questioning his friend. It would make sense for the vehicle to be there to the cops and more importantly, to the Lionelli if they did their own investigation.

If all went well, the Triads would appear to be international terrorists and the Lionelli would descend on them. It would suck to be them.

John and Jane drove through the night heading to the arranged meeting place. Things were about to heat up and they didn't want to be late.

Wilson shuffled through the papers once more. He was sure he had the right man, now. More than sure. He had evidence. It wasn’t enough to stand up in a court of law, because he knew how the law worked. The guy’s defense team would ask first, for the evidence to be thrown out completely as immaterial, then if not successful, they would ask for the evidence to be suppressed based on something, anything they could cook up. They would submit request after request until eventually they would get lucky.

Wilson knew how it would go because he was a defense attorney, and it is what he would do. So that was why he had no qualms about offering up the man to the Night Lords. In a strange perverse way, the Night Lords would be serving the course of justice. They would make sure this particular nasty criminal never saw the light of day again… and if the quarry did manage to elude them, it would only be a matter of time, before they got him. He had his assistant, Yuri to thank. She was the one who pulled the files for him from the courthouse.

Wilson had thought the list he left for Yuri was a long shot at best. He had put those names down as lesser priority. And he was even planning on telling her to check it, when she sent him an email. The only thing he could think off the top of his was the list of names. She was Asian, the list was comprised of Asian names. It would be a good teaching moment, allowing her to learn something with something that would still be familiar to her. That spur of the moment email task, paid off huge dividends. He had not known that Asian names were made up differently than English names. Yuri had researched the names, and done it in a way he would not have. The surname was listed differently, so had he searched for that list of names, he would have gotten erroneous information. But Yuri had been thorough, she followed up the court records with the corresponding police records and booking photos.

Once Wilson saw the booking photos, he knew immediately he had their kingpin. Everything seemed to fall quickly into place at that moment. What he knew that face as, was not his real name. It was a ruse. That had been a red herring. A very clever ruse. If everyone knew the kingpin as one name, even if it wasn’t true, there was no way, he would be identified under his real name. So the kingpin walked among the peons and underlings was one name, and referred to himself in the third person when he was delivering the ‘boss’s orders’. What the members of the Triad didn’t know, was that the number two man.. was really the Boss. The Security Guard and bank depositor was really the man in charge.

It was no wonder that the man had been so hard to find. The Boss, the kingpin, then leader of the Triad, was masquerading as the number two man, or enforcer. Wilson would never have figured it out if it hadn’t been for Yuri going the extra mile and collecting the booking photos that went with the court cases. Once he had a photo, he knew he had their man.

Pulling the phone forward, he called Jameson. Wilson got his voicemail. Quickly Wilson left a message. “Huang Bingwen is our man. He is the same man as the Security Guard. He is key to the money. I will text you his photo.”

Ending the call, Wilson felt it was rather anti-climatic, as he sent Jameson the photo of Huang Bingwen. So he went a step further. Wilson texted everyone, that he had cell numbers for, he attached the photo of Huang Bingwen with the following message. *Text* To all Collaborative members: The property you are interested in, is own by this man, Huang Bingwen.

Now all he could do was wait.

Thump.

Dirt sprayed from the earth butt with the impact. The reverberating crack of the shot being made was followed by that sixty degree angle of its shock wave as it pierced the air around it, a faint scream of velocity. .308 Winchester round dug deep, solid within the soil behind his target.

The target danced in the breeze of that subsonic song and the rupture of black ink on bleached paper. The silhouette was ruined, center of the heartspace turned into confetti, though the puncture was merely a few inches in diameter. At 1100 yards, the accuracy was astounding. Even with his capability to handle a gun, nightly visits to this gun range, the machine itself had to be given commendation. It was made well. Built to know what it was doing. Born with a purpose.

Off in the distance was the clatter of metal on concrete as the casing was released from the action. Another slug was inserted into the bolt and slid into place within the chamber. Time passed slowly as he looked down the scope of his rifle. There was no rush, there was no pressure, there wasn’t even someone looking over his shoulder. He was alone there in the firing point, clearing his mind before the initial steps toward the MCs goals. The buzz of the stadium lights illuminating the large field was the only real sound between the brief moments between shots when the sharp sting from the gun crack finally dissipated. Slipknot filled his ears from the earbuds he’d shoved within them.

CRACK whistle SNAP Thump, woosh as a rush of air and dirt settled back down around the round as it dug into the earth again. He grunted as that steel gaze found the distance of the target. Sight focused. There was another hole just below the last about five inches. Accuracy was perfect but the precision could use some work.

‘If the rain is what you want’ was interrupted abruptly as an incoming text lit up on his cellphone. The rifle remained in position on the bench as he turned and leaned against the shooting dock. There was only a few reasons anyone ever called him. Kenlie. MC. Someone trying to piss him off. He still wasn’t sure he ordered the new phone. After he’d been shown how to use Amazon and Ebay for Christmas shopping, he found this new method to be rather...fun. Order **** he needed and didn’t have to deal with the dumb fucks at the mall or plaza shops.

The Android’s faceplate had lit up with Kenlie’s beautiful smile. He’d snapped the image when they were laying in bed and she’d just opened her perfect brown eyes to catch him watching her sleep and swiping through the photos on his phone. It was the best moment caught forever. But this was just the screensaver and he had to swipe it away to read the message. Eyes read over the brief words and hit the button to start downloading the attached image.

Bingo.

Rifle was gathered, packed, and all evidence of his being there had disappeared with him.

Phone buzzing, Kamikaze checked the message. It was on. And she had a location to meet up at. Good. She was nervous. She was excited. A lot was going to happen shortly, and it would either end up a success on their end, or a complete failure. Time would tell. Pocketing the phone, Kamikaze paused, taking a moment to make sure the others were on board. Shizuka was on board with this, through it all, as was Three, which helped Kami's confidence. She needed this confidence, if she was about to wage war. Reverend was with her, locked and loaded. She knew that Ven and Dominique were going to be ready, as well, or they had better be. With Mordechai, Kamikaze knew better than to double guess. Patting her cheeks, she then nodded to herself, hoisting the duffel bag up, looping the straps around her arms like a backpack. Straddling the motorcycle, she soon slipped the key in, it roaring to life in a few moments. No turning back now. Helmet on, she kicked the stand up, and began on her journey toward the meetup point.

Quite a few thoughts passed through Kamikaze's mind, as she raced along the streets, toward utter destruction. Tonight, she thought, failure was not an option, especially with her being just a prospect in the Night Lords. Pressure to meet expectation, she knew it well, with her past alliances and faction choices. Tonight was not a mudrun, but it was not going to be any easier, nor would it be any less painful. She expected that when they started, there would be no stopping, until either they were sent to the Shadows, or the humans had dropped. Running was not an option. Not for her. She would not retreat, no matter the risk. She'd taken on humans before, in a siege, though those were blood thieves. These Triads were different. Perhaps they were weaker, but they had the sorcerers on their side. She'd never gone against one before, even when fighting the blood thieves.

Quickly making a detour to fill the gas tank, Kamikaze checked her phone once more, then shot a text to Ven. The text was a simple 'On Way'. Tank full, money spent, she was soon on her way once more. Was it worth it, to take on these people, in open conflict? How were the locals going to handle this? What would the local media do, in regards to this? Questions like these bombarded the Shadow's mind, as she got closer and closer to her destination, her feelings beginning to mix. Stiffening as she rode, she attempted to cast these negative thoughts from her mind. There was no room for negativity now. They'd deal with the consequences in an orderly fashion, and do it to the best of their ability.

The spirits' cries were loud, calling out to Kamikaze for help. Some screamed of her upcoming damnation, her death, her betrayal. Others just needed her to save them from the Shadow Realm. Tao was oddly silent, though she could feel him riding on the motorcycle with her.

We go. Fight. Shadows call. Conquer. Worried?

Tao nodded, then passed on that they were a little worried, being completely honest. Tao hated Kamikaze, always harassing that she would end up in the Shadows without any possible way to leave, but they knew that in a short time, there would be a legitimate danger that this psychotic vampire would be facing, but she would not be facing it alone. Tao seemed conflicted, but they knew that they needed the woman to be safe, to be careful. The wraith was not going to be able to truly assist in this one, unable to do any sort of damage to the living, though they would be there in spirit of course, cheering the woman on from the sidelines. It made Kamikaze feel a bit happy, knowing that the wraith was casting aside its anger for once, to attempt at giving her a morale boost.

Finally, Kamikaze reached her destination, as marked by her GPS. Shooting Ven a final text, she smiled.
