Chapter 5 Imminent: Early Heads Up and Basic Details

Chapter 5 is scheduled to begin on the 7th of January 2016. If you want to get involved, consider this your early warning so that you know what might be required. This will hopefully give you time to organise yourselves and think of roleplay threads surrounding the story.

The chapter will focus on the war for control of the criminal underground in Harper Rock, and this will introduce the turn-based territorial combat system. It's up to your faction if they want to join in, and if you do decide to then all you need is to gather a faction of about 6+ people. You won't need to fight against other players right away, as there will be plenty of territories owned by NPCs to start with, and invading one of those territories will start a fight against AI controlled NPC fighters. More on that later.

If your character isn't a fighter, then they can help to weaken NPC groups in other ways in anticipation of territorial battles. You'll be able to do this via hacking illegal business owned by the factions in question, and burglarizing (b&e) weapons factories / warehouses in the appropriate districts. Impact threads will also play a part, as always, and in this respect we'll accept impact threads intended to actually strengthen (or weaken) an NPC faction whom you favor, for whatever reason you have.

The consequences of this chapter will be more immediately apparent than ever before. Any NPC faction you wipe out during this chapter (via the territorial conquest system) will vanish from the grid and story permanently! (Don't worry, we'll maintain balance by introducing new enemies for you to fight against.) In addition, the strongest NPC group at the end of the chapter will be given an important side story shortly after the chapter ends, as well as a new raid featuring that faction.
