"Practice..." Tara muttered, wonder how to explain not eating to Bry. "Alright, start small I suppose." Soup and crackers like when you're sick.
She listened to him, the no being seen made since. She snorted, "Think that's how I got into this mess to start with.." she said, "Found Renee digging into some guy." She had moments of completely bitterness of being killed, while still alive so to speak...this wasn't what she would have wanted. If she knew this was such a bad town, she would have suggested another town to live in but there was no going back in time and she would have to deal with this life now. As long as she had Bry, she could deal but that's why she had been so worried since it happened.
Tara blinked, then stared at him. "Slaughter?" she said, "You kill people for screwing up? Are vampires immortal at all? You stake them in the heart or chop off their head and that's that, no more." she hugged herself, trying not to completely freak out. "I don't even want to try feeding on someone, its not worth it. I'll...get blood somewhere else."

Jesse snorts.
"No. No stakes. No garlic, no holy water. Just good old blades and bullets. A lot of them. We're like cockroaches - we're damned hard to kill. When we die, we go to a place called the Shadow Realm. We hang around in there for a bit - most people would tell you it's not a walk in the park. It's like hell, really - and then we can come back. We waltz right on back and go on with our lives," he says with a shrug. That's how they're immortal. They can die, yeah - plenty of ways a vampire can die, in the end. But it's not a real death. Not really. Not when you can come back from it - and Jesse hadn't heard of anyone yet who hadn't come back from it.
Although he doesn't quite agree with Renee just dropping this fledgling off on his doorstep and ******* off, he can at least give her kudos for trying to fix the mistake she had made. And for at least making sure that this fledgling got taught how to exist.
"You can feed from blood packs. You can buy them from the blackmarket shops, or we keep the fridge here pretty well stocked," he says, gesturing toward the kitchenette area and the gently humming fridge.

Like cockroaches? Her mind wondered off if they could live through a nuke or end up as mutants. Though maybe they were already sort of mutants.
Tara turned her attention back to what he was saying, about the shadow realm. She wondered what it was like. Everyone's vision of hell was different. Well, she had no desire to find out any time soon. "Guess I'll have to get weapons and learn how to use them." she said, besides some basic stuff to protect herself considering she worked in bars was all she knew. Not that it helped against a vampire...
She looked off towards the fridge, feeling better that there was another way to feed. Buying blood all the time would add up so she would be sure to take advantage of this. She was starting to feel better until another question came to mind. "Do vampires of enemies? Like vampire hunters?" she asked. It would of course be another reason not to get seen doing anything vampireish or end up with an angry mop waving pitchforks. No, guns, lots of guns.

Jesse nods.
”We can get some weapons for you. Axel – your sire’s sire – forges them. He does quite well,” Jesse says. ”Unfortunately no one makes guns, yet, but we can get one for you off the auction, or we can ask around. The Quarantine Zone is best for training – there are zombies, there. They’re easy foes, and there are plenty to practice on,” he says. He honestly has no idea how the zombies continue to respawn, but they do. And it’s a blessing, really, having some place to go to test things. Somewhere they won’t be seen.
At the next question, Jesse nods.
”Yes. They lurk mainly in the sewer systems. They will shoot you on sight, unless you take them down first. I wouldn’t suggest trying to take them on too soon. Not until you think you’re strong enough. If you get yourself noticed too much, if you hang around in the slums slaughtering gangsters, for example, they will find you. They will shoot you in your sleep. Best to keep your head down, in that case – go back to the zombies for a while,” Jesse shrugs. The hunters are huge pains in the ***, generally. But, for now, they are pains that can be controlled.
