Employment and Opportunity [closed]

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
* Mayhem wandered in as he got off the phone with a thrall that was shouting about him running out on work and leaving him to take care of everything.

* Piers was sitting at the table. He'd pulled his chair out from the table and leaned back in it, one leg propped up on the table and the other on the floor. He had his eyes closed and he didn't bother turning around. "Hey, Ginger. What'd you bring me, babe? I'm hungry."

* Mayhem smacked the other on the back of the head, ".... I'm not a ginger, your babe, or going to feed you."

* Piers hissed and slowly brought his chair back on its four legs. He sat up straighter and turned his head to pout at the man. "It's you, so you are a babe, at least. What brings you to my temporary abode?"

* Mayhem twitched, "Babe refers to a small child or a lover -usually a woman, I am none of those." He sighed and leaned against the table, next to the man to stare down, "This is one of Eve's places. I was just coming to see if she was here since she wasn't in her Hotel room."

* Piers nodded along to what the man was saying, mostly trying to be polite. He would say what he wanted, but he wasn't a complete asshole. "She's not. You just missed her," he lied, shrugging his shoulders. Piers hadn't seen Eve for some time. He folded his hands atop the table and grinned at Jayd. "Feel free to have a seat."

* Mayhem listened to the man talk. Damn. Oh well. Seeing Eve was only one of his objectives; the other was because he was in the area and ran away from Dante who was trying to get him to go to an unimportant business party. He eyed that grin, distrustingly, "I'm leaning comfortably against the table, aren't I? I like it like this, I can look down at you." He had a smug look on his sarcastic-assed little face. "What've you been up to since your change?"

* Piers scoffed, shaking his head at Jayd. Of course the guy had to ruin their moment by being such a smug ********. Piers leaned forward then and put his head down on folded arms. "I've been forwarding calls and avoiding ****. When I'm not feeling like I'm fifteen years old, breaking into old ladies' sheds." He made a very simple statement in reference to his issues with breaking and entering.

* Mayhem snickered, "Is breaking into old ladies sheds to get over the pain of not feeling the joys of your merchandise? Or are you like me, one of those of us that can still feel the effects of Toxins? If not, I'm sure I can offer you something to keep you busy and your mind off it."

* Piers licked his lips, his tongue darting out as if he were suddenly in need of a drink. "I haven't tried. I attracted too much attention," he frowned, trailing off. He looked hungry for answers and for something more. "What kind of distraction are you talking about? You want me to lift things for you, babe?"

* Mayhem raised a hand like he wanted to smack Piers on the head again for calling him babe. But he pushed the hand into his pocket, "It can be kinda awkward working at your human job after changing, and if I recall you said you did Mechanic work?"

* Piers hid his own smug smile and nodded, "Yeah. I did. I'm still a mechanic. Every now and then, I actually go to work." He'd never been a good employee, so it wasn't much of a surprise that nothing changed. Sometimes he had to leave early or stay late; his hours were weird. "I spend most of time avoiding the crowd I was running with. That means avoiding my job."

* Mayhem dug into his shoulder bag and snagged out a pamphlet Dante had been working on for Jayd's newest business, "It's still under construction, but it's open."

* Piers politely plucked the pamphlet from the man's hands and looked it over, flipping the pages open. "You're offering me a job at Malevolent Machinery," he stated, looking up from the pages with raised brows. "You haven't seen my work. You know next to **** about me. You'd be taking a risk." He closed the pamphlet and lightly tapped it against Jayd's arm.

* Mayhem Shrugged, "I get sent all of the new kids in Andras, at least I'm aware you have a background in Mechanics. You said so when you were high, people lack that little thing in their head that keeps them from saying the truth when they're mind is not right due to influences from substances. Even if not that, at that time of our meeting, you'd have no reason to lie to me. It's not like I was a girl to impress and drag back to your pad with speaking of a good job."

* Piers pressed his lips together in thought. He folded the pamphlet in two and stuff it down into the right pocket of his jeans. "My charm is usually enough," he joked, "but I'll take you up on the offer. I'd like to work at your shop."

* Mayhem grinned, sardonically. He held his sides, laughing a sound that sounded way to sinister to be a friendly laugh. He eyed the other man with an evil glint in his eyes, "Good luck working your charm here. Dante --my thrall-- if you don't know what those are, ask someone else, takes most control of the workers."

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
* Piers arched a brow, having watched Jayd's reaction with something akin to disbelief. The guy was acting like a psycho. "I'll reserve my charm for someone other than your thrall, cheers." He still looked a bit perturbed after he spoke, eyeing Jayden as if the man were going to break out into maniacal laughter at any moment.
* Mayhem settled into snickers and finally back into a relaxed aloofness. He eyed the other but sent a text to the thrall about a new worker. Shoving the phone back in his pocket and raised an eyebrow, "So you've just been loitering around Eve's place?"
* Piers leaned back so he was slouching in his seat. "I wouldn't consider it loitering, babe. I'd consider it," he squinted one eye as he racked his brain for the appropriate word, "mooching. I'm mooching." He winked, quite happy with the word. As if mooching was much better than loitering. "Why should I spend my money to get my own place when I've got this nice place? I'll keep saving up for a rainy day." He couldn't help but grin, reminded of the first time they'd met. He'd been a moocher then too.
* Mayhem stared at the man in shocked disbelief. Did he really say that with no shame? Then again, Jayd couldn't really talk. He was staying in Eve's Hotel Room because one of his residential places he didn't consider his and the other he was afraid to go back into. "You really suck as a man. And would you stop calling me babe? It creeps me out and I'll have to kill you if you ever say it in public or in front of the family and cause misunderstanding."
* Piers sat up straight in his chair and lifted both hands, displaying two middle fingers. He wasn't ashamed. In fact, he smiled proudly. "Says the one too embarrassed to be called 'babe' in front of his family. Unlike you, I don't have piles of money to piss away. And I don't walk around with my nose stuck in the air like I've got **** on it," He feigned a little bow and stood up from his chair. Insulting his manhood made him a grumpy lad indeed.
* Mayhem blinked. So the other could be more serious. Jayd shrugged a bit, indifferent to the fingers and harsh words, "It's not a matter of embarrassment or not, it's a matter of misunderstanding. What would I do if a super cute girl joined our family that I wanted to court and she refused me because she thought I was your 'babe'? As for money, while it's true, I've got plenty of it, probably more than you've ever seen in your life time, it's not to piss on. I've had to work for every single bit of it, opening my own businesses while still in college with my own hard work. So I don't want to be looked down upon by someone who has talent in a career that pays well but not enough drive to make use of it." Leaned down to leer the man straight in the eyes, "You can only look down on me when you know what I work hard for and surpass me."
* Piers brushed the man off. He walked over to his coat and felt around in the pockets until he produced a pack of cigarettes and a cheap plastic lighter. "Did I say that you didn't work hard? I don't think I did. Let me clear this up," he stopped to slip a filter between his lips and set the tip of the cigarette aflame, "you have a condescending tone and a holier-than-thou attitude. You're cute, but not that cute." He exhaled a line of smoke right at the man and then replaced the cigarette, quite content to smoke in peace. If the guy didn't leave, then Piers would have to get his **** and walk around the city until Jayd decided to leave. How irritating.
* Mayhem twitched, "I'm a guy! I'm not cute!" Jayd waited until the smoke disappeared to inhale a calming breath, holding his hands up in the giving up fashion, "The condescending tone and holier-than-thou attitude only occurs around men. I can't help my sincere feelings that women should be treated gently and I don't give enough shits to be gentle with men. Anyways, just go in tomorrow night and talk with Dante and he'll get you set up. He might be a little cranky though, because getting parts while keeping in a budget during the construction has him irritable."
‹Mayhem› And sorry, okay? It's not like I particularly mean to be holier-than-thou. You just have a personality I don't know how to deal with yet.
* Piers stared for a long moment at the man. "Having a dick makes a big difference with you, doesn't it? I'll level with you. I won't call you fruity nicknames in front of people. You can stop giving me that attitude." He slid the cigarette from his mouth and pinched off the cherry tip, wasting yet another before he had the chance to finish it. "I'll meet your little friend and get everything in order. If you hold this over me, I swear to ****," he had to stop himself, "I don't need that from you."
* Mayhem blinks and chuckles. He wandered over and patted the man on the shoulder, "Why would I hold it over you? I need workers just as much as the workers need a job. Maybe even more so." He finally nodded though, "Yeaahhh... I do kinda have a problem in the difference of how I treat men and women. It didn't mean to be so harsh about it, but it's kinda a touchy thing. The family already thinks I'm gay, do you really wanna go down that road and listen to the way they tease? Anyways, tell Eve xoxo and stuff for me, 'kay?" He didn't bother waiting for any kind of response before heading for the door, "Later." And the door was shut behind him promptly after that departing word.
