Ruby walked out of the gym, her hair damp from her shower. Snowy climate forced her to wear her second most hated type of clothes: puffy winter coats. The first most hated for her was dresses. She walked across the sidewalk, her winter boots making a trail in the snow. Her ears were only staying warm because of the plain black beanie she wore on her head. Her boxing gloves hung from a string which she slung over her shoulder.
The red head had just finished combing through the QZ for some zombie ears because she needed them for some rituals. Mostly for the open door one so her and Lori could split the ritual task up.
She sent a text to Mordie to see if he wanted to meet up, as the other hand shoved the ears in her coat hurriedly. After hitting send, Prudence headed out of the QZ through the use of her vampire ability; water walk. From there she decided to walk as Pru waited for a reply from Mordie, not wanting to head anywhere in particular, in case he did reply and she had to go to the other side of town.
Prudence didn't make it far before one of those vamp wanna be's was hitting her up for some of her blood. She gave them a gruff, "**** you," then tried to shove past him before he became more assertive, demanding she gave him some of her blood, or he would out her. Prudence reacted instinctively and gave him a punch to the gut, followed by a knee to his below the belt bits before she gave him a stronger, "**** you. " He grabbed her after spewing out a few choice words, the redhead flailing her arms out to keep from falling. But the male wanted her down and vulnerable so he could take what he wanted. This time without paying.
He lunged on the fallen Prudence and the two wrestled and rolled all over the city streets until she gouged her fingers into his eye sockets, causing the blood thief to howl in pain and curl up into a ball.
The fight had led them down a better part of half a block, not far from a woman sporting some boxing gloves. But as Prudence got up, she noticed the trail of zombie ears that had followed her. Wasn't that the elephant in the room?
Ruby stared, wide eyed, at at the two people had been fighting. She ran towards the two,,hoping to help the innocent one. The only problem is she didn't know who it was. She glared at the man first, then at the redheaded woman. "Who's fault is this? Who started the fight?" She asked, to caught up in trying to help to notice the zombie ears.
Mordechai had spent another day dealing with contractors on his new shop. He had long had the ability to fight the lethargy of the sun, and withstand its burning rays, an ability that made dealing with humans and running his businesses much easier. At times it helped him to blend more as well, although his size and demeanor was often unnerving to the average human. The killer had decided on walking home from RiverRock, it was a long walk, but the crisp air felt good on the killers face.
Mordechai's path took him through Redwood and into Swansdale. He paused outside one of the businesses there, right outside his apartment building. Sully's Gymnasium. He had gotten a membership there when he moved into Veil, but seldom used it. Hiding his abilities from the humans and getting a real workout, were contrary objectives. Shrugging he went inside, slipping off his duster and heading over to the Universal. He knew that many of the human males that were members here could pump the stacks, so he would be able to blend in. No one would question the seven foot one inch, three hundred thirty pound male blasting out reps with a weight that was less than his own.
The laconic killer's eyes constantly roved the gym as he pumped out rep after rep. Though many here could lift the two hundred seventy five pound stack, none did it in five sets of fifty. The light workout completed, Mordechai rose from the bench and slid his stetson into place, and duster on, then headed for the door. No sweat, and his street clothes meant he could just slip out, hopefully as unobtrusively as he had entered. His phone vibrated as he reached the door and leaving it in his pocket he accessed the text mentally as he cleared the entrance foyer.
Pru was bored and looking for a meet up... The last one had gone sooooo well. Shaking his head, he followed a human female out the door as he considered options. His eyes were drawn to the boxing glove hanging over her back, and a more detailed look showed that he had indeed seen her pounding the bags as he was pressing iron. She had had good form and speed, for a human. Mordechai was just getting ready to reply to the titian haired beauty's text, when the woman in front of him took off at a run yelling at someone.
Obsidian eyes snapped down the street, looking for the cause of the woman's concern. The killer broke the connection to his cell, as the recipient was standing just a half block away, flame colored hair blowing in the wind like a Firestarter movie poster, a man laying at her feet groaning. Mordechai followed the human towards the confrontation, reaching out telepathically as he did, "I am here"

"Uhhh, his." Prudence pointed to the male that was still on the ground before giving him a swift kick to his side. "Some guys just can't take it when a girl says, no." She cackled, before moving to pick up the zombie ears. As she grabbed the first one, a predominant male voice entered her head and her eyes bounced around the immediate area looking for Mordie. With one ear in her pocket, and her eyes still searching, her words focused on the woman with the boxing gloves.
"Ya should get out of here before he tries something on you too." Prudence moved from the groaning male, still working on getting the zombie ears off the ground before the human, the seemingly 'normal' one, asked too many questions.
Ruby raised an eyebrow. "Does it look like I wouldn't be able to handle him?" She said with a smirk. She then looked both of the people from head to toe. "Are you hurt?" She asked the red haired woman. She then looked at the man. "You're the guy who was lifting weights at the gym, weren't you. You weren't all that bad."
Mordechai nodded to the human, looking down at her, "Yes, I occasionally stop in for a workout." A quick glance showed that Pru was unharmed, so he turned his attention back to the human female, and the bloodthief lying at his feet. "Excuse me while I take out the trash, I shall be right back." Easily flipping the bloodthief over his shoulder, he carried it down the alley between Veil and Sully's he gently set him on the ground next to a dumpster aware of the human's eyes on him as he shifted his position to block her view, then bounced the thieves head off the brick wall with a a satisfying crunch, one less of the demons. Straightening he returned to the waiting women in the street. "He can sleep it off back there, as noone was hurt." Bowing his head slightly he held out a massive hand, "My name is Mordechai"

Prudence wasn't going to judge the human based on her looks. Maybe she could handle herself against a blood thief, if she were a blood thief. Or a paladin. Or even a sorcerer, but she wasn't going to go on about that. She cackled at the idea of being hurt by some ***** *** vampire wanna be, then pretended to asses herself. "I think I'm alright. Though, I do feel a little faint." At that moment, Prudence slumped up against Mordie and clung to him. "Oh, thank goodness you're here! What, with those strong muscles and all." Prudence didn't know what it was like to feel pain, because, well, she had experienced so much of it when she was a human and as a vampire, well, things healed so quickly. She also didn't know how to act very well, so she probably looked, well, flat out stupid.
She gave Mordie a playful slap on his face before blowing him a kiss and then pushed away from him. "That ***** didn't stand a chance, but thanks for the concern." Her attention returned back to the human before she extended a hand. "I'm Pru." She said after Mordie introduced himself. "Hope ya didn't forget to bury it deep. Smelly ****** that he was." Prudence's attention was back on her friend, a devious smile on her features.
Ruby took the muscular man's hand and shook it. "Ruby. The name's Ruby." She said with a smile. She then took the woman's hand. "Nice to meet you both." She said. "So what was that guy trying to do anyway?" She asked, frowning.
Mordechai smiled slightly, though it did not reach his eyes, as he shook the young humans hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Those were the words of polite society, and Mordechai nodded silently to himself, but now to further diffuse the situation. "There are always those willing and ready to prey on those weaker than they. The problem is that many of those type, are not able to perceive those that are actually weaker." He gestured obliquely towards his titan haired friend, "Most likely he was after her purse, or a quick attempt to assault the lovely lady....." Now a true grin developed over the taciturn countenance. "But some ladies are deceiving, in whether they are predator... or prey." The massive killer let his words dy off, hoping Pru would take over. Her constant interaction with humans at her saloon, made her better able to converse with one of the lesser species than the ascetic male. He had never been good at conversation as a human, and his evolution had not done anything towards correcting that fault.
