Turning her head she looked over at where the group were talking her gaze tracking silently to Charles and the people he was talking to. Their history had been a fraught one. His turning not something either of them talked about, her because she was an intensely private person and him, well she didn’t really know if he’d talked about it with anyone.
Their failed history was just that, history. However bad and awful the beginning they had survived it, and he was right. She also liked where she was at, liked where her life had taken her and the people she had met, and while she regretted how they had began, she didn’t regret where she was now at all.
She smiled, a little wistfully before moving her gaze back to the man beside her. “They’re not going to break themselves you know.” And nudged him towards the table.
