I smile at Elliot and Pi.
“I’m fine.”
****. I should have said great. Hopefully they’ll let that side and won’t press the issue. If not, I hope they put it down to me pining for Ric; who is still on the other side of the room. I’m not that kinda girl. I’m not. Only… maybe I am. I always said I’d never marry and look at me now. Ring and everything.
**** it.
I down my drink which is like three quarters full and go to ‘retrieve’ my husband. Pi and Ellie want to meet him. Well… Pi does and I want to get the introductions over with. I tried being patient and letting him come to me but the ****** just looked at me and blew me off.
“You gals mind if I borrow my husband?”
I say this as I smile at Beverly and Pyper. At the same time I grab a hold of Ric’s hand.
“Come on you. I need you to come meet Pi.”
I attempt to pull him away from his thing, so that I can get the interview process over with; not that Ric knows that that’s what this is.

[Pyper]

The people were in small groups, like schools of fish were. Some wove between them, they mingled. Others anchored to their stations. She was frozen to her spot, it appeared. One of the heavy weights. The free of her two hands absently touched along the top of the opposite shoulder. Over the vines of her tattoo, the elegant, licked ends of the leaves. They braided, their interwoven sections blending in. It called to her, saying that she could be one. One piece of a whole. A word.

Assimilate.

"No, I never saw them. It's customary, to bring gifts, too. It is, tradition. I'll send something."

Speech therapy could only work her through so much. Just as she was about to excuse herself to see Charles, the bride approached. Pyper so far hadn't put two words together to Skylar. Not until tonight.

"Congratulations, Skylar. This is a nice party. Congratulations, on marriage." That dreaming smile. She'd like to say more but they were planning on other introductions. After the festivities, there would be more time to find the other blonde.

[vadablade]

He watched Klara move off and watched Pi get distracted, his body was causing him a lot if discomfort and he didn't understand why. He carefully made his way from the table and walked outside, knowing he hid from anyones eye sight. He walked to the bin again threw up once more, a vile blackish tinged blood flowing from him.

He cleaned himself off and leaned on the wall outside for a few moments as he tried to understand. He felt himself falling into a depressive sate as he thought of the fact he truly was rejecting the turning process. He caught himself breathing, odd because he didn't need to, yet here he was breathing. He checked his pockets as he pulled out a cigarette, sadly the gangsters never had lighters. He coughed a few times as he tried to cheer up and forced a smile.

He walked into the hall again and slowly made his way to the bar as he grabbed a glass of vodka and swirled it around his mouth before spitting it out.

[Roderic]

"That's ok." I say in reply to Pyper's suggestion about a gift. We did not have a party to get gifts. I'm not a collector, or hoarder. "If you don't get around to it." I chime in. I don't want to hurt her feelings. I have enough issues with one female and her wonky emotions. "If you do, it's appreciated. I see you're taking care of Sister B." I look at Pyper. Study her. Her proximity to my thing. Her body language in reality. I'm also looking at Sister B's language too.

I would say more, but Skylar appears and she wants me. I don't want to leave the people I am familiar with, but I said I would be social. I could say, 'hi.' 'Thanks for coming,' and shove more favors at them. On the way to where ever Skylar is taking me, I grab all the favors I can and shove them at Pi, Elliot and the others. "Have a favor." I say quickly.

[Doc]

Doc gave Klara one of his rueful smiles, that changed to immediate interest, as soon as she said she was officially unbound to the Pantyliner. “How the **** did you manage that? Is it a ritual? Who did you pay off..?” he held up a hand, “wait.. did you manage to permanently kill that lying *** wipe?” He grinned suddenly proud, cause that made the most sense of any of the options that he had supplied.

“Seriously thought.. how?” He closes in on Klara saying softly, though China might be able to hear, since she was so close. “There is a ******* ton of money to be made, if you can duplicate that ****… “ He eyed her closely. “How the **** did you do it?”

[Skylar]

I don’t complain at the detour but I do wonder what he’s doing with the party favours. I was just gonna let people pick them up on their way out.
“Everyone this is Ric.”
I kinda gesture to the group as he’s shoving the little canvas bags on them. I only just stop myself from adding ‘marvel at his conversational skills’; I don’t want to embarrass him.
“Babe. Come stand over here.”
I drag him off to the side of the group and half place myself between him and them the moment he’s done. I squeeze his hand to let him know I’m there for him; like he could forget that.
“Pi.”
I wait till I think I have her attention.
“This is Roderic. You might remember him from the auction at Lancaster’s. He’s the one Elliot bought for me. So really, you could say all this right here is thanks to you two.”
I watch to see if Ellie chokes on his drink. I’m not lying though. I consider that night to have been the start of our relationship, even if we had been hanging out for a couple of weeks at that point already.

[Nerissa Clemming]

She watched Roderic be dragged away by a blonde, who she assumed to be the bride. They seemed like an interesting couple, and it appeared that they balanced each other out well. She drained her drink and turned to her friends. "So what do we do now? Is there anyone else you girls want to chat with?" She noticed Doc had joined the party, so Pyper might want to go speak with him, but he was the only other person she recognized. She looked down at her drink. "Hm. I might want to grab another drink. That was pretty good."

[Klara]

Klara grinned at Doc. "I think I might have the first divorce in the city. Apparently you can go to city hall now and pay $10 and lose a person. I've waged a letter writing campaign to get it legalized in the backwards city and I finally got a reply." She winked at him and whispered in his ear. "You can get one too, but be careful because Mortll will start pushing you to remarry."

Klara laughed at the look on the man's face. She saw vada and motioned him over to them and whispered as he walked. "Vada attacked Simon today. Apparently vada is on the hit list now, my guess Simon or his tramp did it. Yep, I got me a keeper this time."

She slid her hand around his waist as he came towards her. "I didn't realize you couldn't eat or drink. I developed the ability out of the blue not long ago. I'm sorry honey, I should have told you. It will pass soon. Just don't swallow anything else until it's all up."

[Pyper]

There were vampires that couldn't ingest food. She being one among the many that would become violently ill if she went for anything other than blood. Even then, taste between fresh-from-the-veins and the bags were conceivably distinct. Pyper had made sure to take all she could during her outing. Hunger didn't let itself be ignored for very long. Riding on a full stomach elongated the time she could spend here. As Nerissa spoke, Pyper's eyes slowly roamed to focus on her.

"We could say hello to Charles, and the people he's with. I don't know many people here."

Without the added stimulant that was her sibling's presence, the Telepath mellowed a hair. Half a hair. Her neck pivoted, the tip of her nose nudging through the dark thicket of follicles hiding Beverly's ear from her.

"Want to go see Charles?"

[Lancaster]

Elliot did choke on his drink. A vague splutter that had the amber liquid spurting back into the glass that he held, but he coughed and cleared his throat as if nothing had happened.

Roderic, the man in questions, seemed uncomfortable. Was it discomfort Elliot could detect? Whatever the case, his actions were odd, out of place. Not exactly smooth. Elliot, ever the pleaser and the kind of man to not cause drama (he loathed drama) drummed up a smile and held out his other hand--taken away from Pi's waist--to shake Roderic's hand. He didn't take one of the favours. He always assumed they were taken on the way out. They weren't leaving just yet. If he were a less confident man, or if he cared too much, he'd have thought Roderic was trying to get rid of everyone.

"Congratulations," he said.
