The large, beast of the man gave an abrupt nod, and before Seiji knew it, he was gone, leaving the teen to wonder if he'd said something off, or if that was just a general attitude. Shrugging it off, he glanced back to catch the woman's words of advice. What was it she'd said her name was again? Dominique? He offered a sheepish laugh and smile in answer to her words, fingers curling awkwardly against the back of his neck. "You're right... sorry.." His head hung an inch in embarrassment at the situation, only to snap up again in surprise at her offer. By the time he'd puzzled over it, she'd already stepped over to the bar. Nearly face-planting, he scampered after her with a clumsy word of thanks.
Stepping up, he made no move to sit either. The choices in drink lay light to just how inexperienced he was in the art of alcohol, and in the end he mumbled a quick order, settling for the same option as the woman had picked. As the drinks were slid over, he added a quick comment, trying to make conversation. "My name is Seiji, by the wa-..." he trailed off as the drink met his hand, as well as the glowering eyes of the bartender. He gulped and stepped back, following after Dominique as if her presence might protect him from further injury. His gaze quietly skimmed his drink, vaguely terrified now that it might have been tampered with. It was still closed though, and seemed untouched, but he made no move to drink it all the same.
When the woman he followed came to a sudden stop, Seiji pulled up short as well to avoid running into her. It seemed she'd gone ahead, approaching the familiar face of the man they'd just been with and another woman, and...a cat? His eyes lit up at the sight of the feline, itching to pet it but resisting the urge. He quickly became aware of how awkward his being here might have been, amongst those who obviously knew one another already. Turning a bit away so as to make his presence a little less invasive to the situation, he focused on the can, fiddling with the tab and failing miserably when it came to trying to tuck his thumb underneath. Eventually he gave up, digging around for something to use. A quarter seemed to do the trick, and with a little prying, the tab broke through. And off. It flicked into the air, bounced off the bridge of his nose and back into the can with a light 'thlunk' sound. Tipping the can, he tried to peer inside with a faint sigh. Knowing his luck, risking a sip would probably cause him to choke on the tab at this rate.

Re: Voices Carry-Open
--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Zodiac: She glanced up as she saw him approach. The corners of her mouth raising into a soft smile for a moment. She cocked her head as she heard his request and played for a moment as if it required a great deal of thought to answer. ”Well, I guess so. Apparently you the only one in here brave enough to ask me.”
Mordechai: He spared a smile for her as he slid into the seat, It seems someone is turning paladins, that is one way to beat them at their game Another quick glance at the two that had drawn his earlier attention, had him shaking his head. So, what brings you to the slums, Zo?
Zodiac: ”Yes. Rather interesting, isn’t it? I know the one.” she nodded in Dominique’s direction. ”She works for me in fact. Well, I should say she works for me when she remembers to come in. Always around for her paycheck, though.” she smirked. ”As for why I am here, well there are places to shop and places to shop, and there is a most delightful place to shop hiding in this less than sterile area. Where a girl can purchase things and avoid the questions most would ask about such things. If you know what I mean, dear.”
Mordechai: Raising an eyebrow as she mentioned not only knowing but employing the ex-paladin he had just met, he turned to look at the diminutive woman again, reaching out with his mind to ascertain her strengths and weaknesses. Nodding to himself Mordechai turned back to the violet graced woman at whose table he sat, before once more communicating through telepathy. Aye, I know your meaning, just was surprised to see you yourself here, and not a minion or friend in sight other than the formidable Mz Ginny. A slight smile twitched his lips as he nodded greeting to the black cat.
Zodiac: ”I understand your concern, but as fate would have it-look who I find who might need my protection in such a dull and dangerous place.” she laughed softly in his thoughts now.
Mordechai: Giving a small shrug, he smiled once more. Your assistance is always welcome, though there was no real threat here, A simple reverse Napoleon complex. The biggest wanting to prove their strength to a smaller victim. They seldom press on when they realize they are neither the biggest, nor deadliest, in attendance For some reason, time with Zo, was beginning to affect him like time with his kennedy. He was slowly becoming more open and responsive when they met for business and pleasure.
Zodiac: She looked again at the curious person who was standing with Mini and wondered what his story was. He was alive, that much was certain. How did he find himself among this lot was another question indeed. ”The strong who feel they have to justify themselves by preying on the weak have no true strength at all,” she absently quoted her grandmother. ”Is a phenomenon I have witnessed first hand too many times before myself. Of course now I can show them the errors of their thinking in ways beyond a fist to the jaw.”
Mordechai: The killer chuckled out loud at the diminutive mystic’
s musings. He was not even sure she had meant for him to hear them, but he knew from past engagements, that this little mouse did indeed pack a metaphysical punch. Beyond which if the task was too large, she often healed and offered inspiration to those that fought the physical battles. Another timeless jewel of wisdom from your ancestors? He gently queried eyes watch as the odd pair obtained drinks from the bar
Zodiac: She shrugged. ”My grandmother may have found you most interesting, Mordie. She was the type of woman who could make everyone feel somewhat small in her presence without even trying.”
Mordechai: [It is interesting how much of you connects to your past and your family… While i know nothing of mine other than scarce remembered moments of my youth in the company of my grandfather. But our relationship was nothing of the sort you seem to recall. Yet now we are often teamed together in our endeavors
Zodiac: She grinned again. It was true. They did make an interesting paradox of styles and concepts that seemed to feed off of and into each other the majority of the time. “I was basically raised by them. My Nana was a witch and my grandfather was a kind, patient man filled with common sense.. They both taught me well.”
Mordechai: No hint of amusement graced his face as he answered I only knew my grandfather. He was a farmer, and it consumed him. He tried to make it consume me. He failed. He did however instill into me the ability to shoot straight from a very young age

Zodiac: ”And from two different points of origin, here we are.” She looked again at the young man with Mini for a moment. Something was off about him, but she could not put her finger on it. ”So what is new and interesting with you and Kenny?”
Mordechai: His mind continued quietly to dwell in the past, till with a slight jerk his eyes refocused and instantly scanned the room. There was no clear danger and his eye settled once more on the couple he had assisted. It would seem as though somewhere there is a disconnected wire between that man’s brain, and his feet. I have seen none since those old telethons. Jerry Lewis? as uncoordinated as he
Zodiac: She knew what he was talking about, but had never seen a telethon. However, she enjoyed a lot of late night TV and saw some of the films with Lewis acting a fool. ”Poor thing.” The picture began to focus now. Clumsy man in backstreet bar among idiot drunks.
Mordechai: The ex paladin, Dominique, seemed to have the human under control and out of trouble, for the moment anyways. So odd to see, but with a paladin, even ex, what could you expect. Does she always babysit humans? I see not the attraction…
Zodiac: It would not be surprising she imagined. Dominique was one of the night crowd but she held the line to her humanity far tighter than even Zodiac had managed so far. ”Maybe it’s in the Paladin manual?” she shrugged in confusion.
Mordechai: I do not see the interest humans hold with some. He was collateral rescue. I stepped to save the young one. Roving eyes once more settled on the odd pair as he continued What was it you were searching for?
Zodiac: ”I am always searching for something, ‘brother’, even when I don’t have a clue what it is.” she admitted. ”I came here to procure some rare items for my more toxic type of potions, only to discover you in the area as well and following that I discover Mini here as well and her new friend. It never ends.” She glanced to the entrance and saw someone finally moving the person she stepped over upon entering out of the way. ”Your handiwork, I’m assuming?”
Mordechai: Mordechai shrugged gracefully, She wasn't looking where she was going. He glanced to where the woman was being assisted to her feet, skirt finally back in its proper place. The woman definitely did not look like she belonged in this area, too high maintenance. For a moment the killer wondered what had a woman like that in this area, her attention to her I-pad meant she wasn't just an upper society ***** gone slumming while her husband was out of town. She had been here on business. It was unintentional. She ran into me.
Zodiac: Ironically, the mystic’s eyes were coming to the same conclusion he had, tho she did not realize it. Considering what could be found here and not elsewhere was a short list for someone like that woman, while someone with more exotic tastes and needs such as herself had far more choices to indulge herself in. ”No matter how important you think you are, you have to lower yourself to get the pleasures you have become addicted to.” she sighed. Her attentions turned to the pair now advancing on where they were sitting. ”Sit up straight, lover. We have company coming now.” she smirked into his thoughts.
Mordechai: His head swiveled at her words, eyes quickly picking out the colorful but inept human, and the tattooed ex paladin headed to their table. Peripheral vision kept an eye out for the hired help as the laconic killer nodded greetings to the newcomers. I wonder if turning him would help or hinder. He chuckled into the seated mystic’s mind.
Zodiac: ”Oh dear. I think the poor boy has enough problems at the moment. Jerry Lewis with fangs? Seriously?” her mental giggles were like bubbles popping inside Mordie’s head. ”He’d have a spot on the bounty list just by walking down the street, poor dear.”
Mordechai: A slow smile twitched at the corners of his mouth as his foot pushed out the opposing chairs and he wondered how he came to be sitting in a bar with two other predators, and dinner sitting down to drink with them. Slowly he raised the ever present empty bottle to his lips as he watched the human stare at his drink.
Zodiac: ”Is like a joke. A mystic, a killer, an ex paladin and Jerry Lewis Jr sit down for a drink. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.” She reached up and gave Ginny a reassuring scratch behind her ears as she smiled and gestured with her other hand for the two to join them.
