Holiday 2014 Package Exchange - Results Thread

Post by Cassandra »

For those who participated in the Exchange, once you get your package, post the results here so that everyone can share in your suffering surprises. Try to include pictures if you can!

I'll try to see if I can get a picture later, but my box was packed absolutely full of stuff by the lovely player of Alexandria. More than I can probably list. I think it sustained some travel damage, though. One corner looks like it went through a cheese grater and a package of bath salts inside seems to have burst. There were a lot of smaller items inside, so some might have fallen out. I'll post some highlights, though:

- First thing I pulled out, in front of the window, in front of my black neighbor's family, was a confederate flag. So there's that.

- A bunch of rocks. I'm not sure what the story is with the larger ones, but there was a smaller pouch of them from Route 66, which is pretty cool.

- There was a bunch of what appears to be older electronic watches wrapped in a cloth. I don't know if they were whole to begin with, but I think the rocks have smashed them to bits.

- Two bottle openers, one Batman, one Sapporo. These will see use. :D

- A plastic Green Lantern ring. Nerdy me is inordinately enthused about this.

- My cat's licking the box right now. I don't know what to make of this. He's going to be a zombie.

- A bunch of random necklaces - a woven one, what looks like a puka-shell one, and a big gold medallion of a horseshoe.

- A toothbrush and tooth-flosser. The toothbrush has a phone number on it from my area code. The last time you lived near me was a long time ago. This worries me.

- A deck of Oregon playing cards that will see good use amongst our friends!

- A tiny glass reiki-style pendulum, which is pretty cool

- A bunch of individual cubic zirconia gems from someplace called Lindenwold's.

- One flip-flop

- A box of MTG cards, mostly older, mostly commons and uncommons. Three to five of them were worth about a dollar, a couple of them were worth $5. More than the dollar value, I actually had a great time going through and seeing some of the older cards that have been out of circulation for a while. I took a small bunch of them for Commander use, I'm going to sort out the basic lands, and they're going to get passed on to my Recipient so we can share the wealth. :D

Let me know if there was something else here that was more than meets the eye and worth special mention, there was a LOT in here.

What was the old piece of white birch wood about?

Apparently the address I gave is not secure for packages. I seriously hope the post office holds the package and doesn't leave it on the porch...

If you have a more secure address, forward it on to me and I'll get it to your Sender if they haven't already sent it out.

Only two players have posted about receiving their packages, and I haven't gotten many tracking numbers either, so I'm going to start getting in contact with people this week. Holidays are over! :)

Sent out a few check-in messages today, just to remind people in case the holidays caught up with them.

According to tracking numbers, we have the two packages mentioned in this thread, one that's delivered but no post about it so far, and one that's waiting at the post office for pickup. It sounds like about half the participants are still working on theirs. :)

This is SO much fun to do I don't want to wait a whole year to do it again AND... I bet things would move much more quickly if it wasn't at the same time as the holidays... *HintHint* :D

Sorry to be delinquent. Between going home for New Years, and getting the flu, I was not checking in here for the past couple weeks. I'll post my box tomorrow. (I'm at work now)
