Overview
When Crow was all but stripped of his or her power last year, the mausoleum in Cherrydale lost its protection. Crow had, up until that point, subtly manipulated events and hid the presence of undead in the mausoleum from the eyes of mortals. With Crow gone, humans quickly discovered undead there, and the army moved in to quarantine the building, believing it perhaps to be ground zero of the disease infecting the quarantine zone.
Now, though, it appears that Canadian scientists have the truth of what this "disease" really is, and that perhaps it is not a disease after all. Word has reached you [from any means you see fitting for your character] that one of the researchers stationed at the mausoleum got their hands on a report, detailing the findings of the scientists. This rogue scientist has apparently handed this information over to a reporter in Harper Rock in exchange for a large sum of money. However, the reporter is now being pursued by the government, perhaps for fear that the information will go public, and has gone to ground. It is possible that if she is not found before she has a chance to study the information and presumably write her story, humans all over the world will become aware of the research. What the report specifically contains, and how many humans will even believe the research remains to be seen.
You have a choice to make. Do you attempt to track down the reporter and destroy the report, for fear that public knowledge of zombies might aversely affect your kind in some way? Or do you believe that the public has a right to know, or that knowledge of this could benefit you in some way? If so, you might want to find the reporter and help her go into hiding before harm comes her way.
Rules and Details
- This is a roleplay sidestory. There is no in-game method of shaping the outcome of this story.
- If you wish to participate, you need to join / assemble a team of roleplayers and start an impact thread on one of the main boards.
- Each team must have a minimum of 4, and a maximum of 7 writers. All involved writers must post at least 3 times.
- Each thread must reach a minimum of page 4 before it ends.
- It is entirely up to you which lead you pursue to track down the reporter. You are free to be inventive with it. You could flush her out, use hackers, interrogate people (including the leak), look for clues at her apartment, her workplace, tail the government agents sent to find her, and so on.
- Your team cannot split up to pursue multiple leads at once. However, you are free to roleplay one lead not quite panning out, and moving onto something else.
- For a reason unknown to you, no tracking powers seem to be able to work on her.
- Only one group will find her correct location. All other groups will end up somewhere else (but might find certain consolation prizes).
- All threads are to stop temporarily at the moment your group is about to (perhaps) find the reporter. You must then PM me with a link to the thread, and give a brief summary of events. Each thread will be looked over, and the one which was most inventive, logical and interesting will be chosen to be the one which finds the reporter.
- If you wish to maximize your chances, try to add in a few twists to the thread. Roleplay with one another, add in unexpected occurrences, choose the route to finding the reporter which makes most sense to you, and ask the NPCs the right questions.
- All NPCs can be played by members of your team. No need to ask permission for descriptions or details.
- Last minute team betrayals are indeed allowed. You should fight in game to determine the outcome, if it comes to that. You may also use the dice roller as you see fit.
- The sidestory ends on February the 7th. On this date, the winning thread is chosen.
- Once a thread is chosen as the winner, that team can decide what to do with the reporter and the evidence.
