Right, I think everybody realizes that Paladins are humans. I was trying to explain why this could seem like a problematic situation from another viewpoint.

The central issue here seems to be "if a vampire sees a human on public camera and doesn't have their ID, can they recognize the human enough to ask someone else about it and get the ID". The Wiki seems to say no. You have a lot of situational reasons that you feel the game mechanics shouldn't apply to this particular incident (that they "almost recognized the face but weren't sure").

I think it's setting a dangerous precedent to say it's okay to go get an ID after the fact, when if whoever runs the shop (why haven't we named these people yet, but we're naming Verne?) should have known Verne enough to pick him out of a camera feed, it seems like they should have already had the ID. I think that if this sort of case can even be argued, it was probably good etiquette to bring Verne's player in on the situation, if we're being collaborative instead of competitive.

I seem like I'm the only person arguing this viewpoint, though, and I'm just some random player. I'ma go make a vampire Facebook and woosah <_<
I lit the fuse and ran; I burned down who I am, and I've rebuilt again...

Didn't mean to upset you.

Um...guess you have a point? Just didn't think one player had to ask permission for their character to react to something. In this case, bringing in Verne's player would not be collaborative nor competitive...but letting one player dictate everything that's going on in all situations and all storylines connected to the one he's writing. That means he'd be controlling what the vampires that owned the security camera saw and didn't see.

And isn't that god modding? The be all end all...if you're writing your character a specific way and have expectations that others are allowing...don't push the limits without permission and don't move your character on grid if you're meant to be invisible without expecting someone else to change the storyline if they see you. Can't control every character just for a roleplay...can only control your own character...and if something you do screws your plans up, don't have a tantrum and call "Crosser".

Now...it was mentioned earlier...how some things can be dismissed OOCly for the sake of an RP. But that's between two people. This started to involve a whole group of people and one person is throwing a fit because the result of his story was damaged by his own movements on grid. If they were all to sit back and be like "Hey..let's talk about this amicably and figure out what we can do to fix all of this" then I'm so for this because the drama would be over. But things have been said and done that I'm not sure are fixable. And it's really sad to see.

Just a note as someone who works on the wiki: I'd suggest taking anything that hasn't been updated recently* with a heavy heap of salt, btw. I've seen a few people saying things like "the wiki says this/that," but there's a ton of misinformation on there, and I wouldn't say that blurb about IDs was written by David or Natasha, because it's (imo) not entirely accurate.

Does a security cam tell you who passed through if you're in a public area? Like does it just say something like "Someone unrecognizable passed through the area and they were caught by xyz cam."? Or does it say "XYZ person was caught by xyz cam."? I tend to think something as simple as that would have an effect on how this whole thing played out.

It says XYZ person was caught by xyz cam.

Alex has them in her store which is a public location.

I've stated multiple times in this thread that the security camera was placed in a public location.

Regardless of the ID aspect, a camera caught him.

cameras generally record (unless they're just for show)

ID or not, the person who had a cam that saw someone could ask anyone who it was and show them the footage. Completely legit.

what it really all comes down to.... if you are so heavy into rp, that any of this matters...if your char is supposed to be dead, kill it. i am not gonna name names, but i know of many when there char died in an rp, they SR'd it. personally i dont see how a 'dead' paladin can come back to life, dead humans are dead. so it was obviously a faked death with much pr surrounding it evidently. If the char got caught it is the players fault, noone elses. if it has an affect on the rp, it is the players fault, noone elses. you dont have to kill a char to play dead, just sit, in 3 days you disappear in vaca mode, noone sees you. To me this is one person messed up, and is trying to blame the world for their mistake.

The VERY first time Alexandrea went into the SR it was done on grid by myself and the players of Odin and Serenity to match the RP where she was killed giving birth to a fade beast.

Not everyone goes to such extremes, However. And then just keeping your vamps butt sitting in shadows (vaca) is the way to go, imo.

Wait... HUMAN? O.o .... >.< Oy....
