Sounds like your Vampire characters are very Anti-Masquerade. That's within the boundaries of this world and you can have your characters be friendly with Humans and show no fear about revealing themselves if you don't mind people killing your characters.

Yes, the SR is boring, but I think it's the only punishment that can be given. Be bored for a week. >.>

I know Myk would use that time plotting revenge, but hey, he's a pratt like that. He'd probably end up forgetting by the time he came back and just chase bunnies or something, mind you. I think, the only thing I can do to drive my characters forward sometimes is to give them goals. Even if they're small ones.

Say, you want Ursula to have levelled up by the end of the year. Or, you want her to have discovered something about where Zombies come from. Then you try your best to reach those goals and build up plot around them, even if no one wants to plot with you.

Trust me if I could think of a viable reason why any of my chars were in places that some of the threads are set in I'd be in all the open threads with one of my chars but that in itself is a task... I can't explain those things. Plus there is always the risk of killing the thread. Especially since I'm unable to post quickly.

And you know... I would probably be a little more inclined towards the SR if the death wound vanished when the week was up. It's bad enough getting gang banged by chars that have been playing for years longer than you and are statted to kill when your char not only isn't stated to defend itself but only a few months old but attacking someone who just came out who's still dealing with a death wound? Even WoW limits how low a certain level can hit before hitting becomes pointless. The one thing that this game added that I like pvp wise is the BTTD but even that is flawed. Level 5's can still be slaughtered by level 45's.

That said... Goal wise all my girls want one big goal: A guy to love them played by someone that won't hide the fact that they know my chars by always Rping privately but doing forum as well. I'm not saying it has to happen every day... Even I can't post every day. But still... And I know it's stupid I really do.

Other goals depend on the Character...

Ursa wants to learn that blood heal trick but first has to make her way though the fadewalker bridge. I'd like to rp her gaining those powers... And as the only char that managed the main goal (to a point) I'd like that deal to be sealed but that's between me and Jordan's mun and we are talking about that.

Charlie wants to live freely in the open without the fear of another gangbang for crossing some arbatrery line. Power wise there is still the question of her second meaner things form I want to play out her getting though the how evades me because really I don't even after a year of game play still don't get from an rp perspective. The wiki isn't uber clear on what goes on in that process.

Isabeau when I first created her I was aiming for her to be a kingpin before she was turned... Grid wise she can't even kill a gangster... So I'm pretty much given up on the kingpin idea... Now I don't really know what I'm going to do with her.

And Dawn before the dual path thing she was just a random "hey wouldn't it be funny if a human had the vampire disease and thought she was a real vampire." Now I would really like to explain how she dualed without having to solo it like I did her intro to the city. Plus I want to get her the famous rp power before she's turned because she is supposed to be famous in the US.

I like live RP because it flows better and you don't have to come up with several pages per statement to meet folks' expectation. Plus, I can proofread/have it proofread before posting it. And it gives more RPP per word.

I also abhor PVP, for pretty much all the reasons you mentioned, as well as just personal distaste for competition.

You seem neat. If you ever find a way around the anti-masquerade thing, I'd RP with you. Cass is extremely pro-masq - but then again, that might not necessarily prevent RP, since it wouldn't be in a big group of humans.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Live RP, especially if it's going to be posted up. The only thing about live rp is that you both have to be on at the same time (a task if you are in two parts of the world) and sometimes real life cuts in and when that happens you either have to try to pick it up again or leave it where the person left. I just hate when someone says "hey let's rp" and it's always in yim and they never want to post the rp because they don't want people to know that they are Rping with you (general). And if you do something they don't like its as if it never happened.

As for the anti/pro in rp... Charlie seems to be getting on with Zo even though they are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. I think in Charlie's case masq chat is like political Convo it just shouldn't happen. And if your sig is anything to go by Cass and Charlie would have better things to chat about lol.

I'm of two minds about this. I've retconned entire RP sessions before, because they just went the complete opposite direction of what we were expecting it to and we didn't like the results. Then again, I've only done so with the approval of the other player. I think the only times I've been forcefully "this didn't actually happen" is when someone didn't bother to finish the RP but expected the parts they DID write to actually happen. That's a no-no in my book, but I know it's not necessarily in others'.

Saying this as nicely and non-confrontationally as possible, without insinuating anyone in particular: I can kinda understand when someone doesn't want their RP to go on this forum, though. This community has done a pretty good job in the past of scaring some folks away, and I'm still kinda nervous about getting involved myself. That said, if someone just wanted to RP off-forum the entire time, I'd expect them to be very upfront about it - a lot of people are trying hard to amass RPP, and that doesn't happen in off-forum RP.

I like the idea of hackers getting together and talking, I just don't know what they'd talk about topically that isn't just technobabble. Even network TV hasn't really figured that one out yet.

Just thought I'd drop my two pennies on this and say... I feel you. I've been there, and took a... I dunno, has it been two years already? break in some part due to what I felt were insane restrictions on my RP. I had a ton of awesome ideas for this character that got hacked and slashed and "No No No"d to death.

Anywho; writing-wise it can be tough around here. It isn't just you. The handful of "open" threads never seem to have any plot or direction... The only thing I can suggest to you, personally, is maybe do a couple solo RPs to get your characters mindset in your head before you go asking someone to thread with you. And when you DO thread - have a full plot in mind! Do it novel style, beginning, climax, and satisfying ending. Make sure all participants are on board and agree to those terms otherwise it's really not worth writing.

Now with that said I'll toss out some ideas that have been churning in my own head today:

1. Character gains a new ability, can't quite figure out how to do it correctly after the first time. Hilarity ensues
2. Character meets a fae. Injured by fae (jerks). Begins plotting crusade against fae to anyone who will listen.
3. Character believes they saw someone they used to know. Stalks person. Definitely wasn't anyone they used to know.
4. Character decides to find a hobby. Tries number of things that go terribly awry (gardening - everything dies, knitting - stabs self so many times it looks like a crime scene... still offers terrible knitted holiday sweater to loved ones, etc etc)
5. Character has a meltdown in the mall when the ATM won't dispense with the cash - rips the machine out of the wall in rage. Runs like hell from cops.

...Now if you're talking about changing your characters personality I don't think anyone here can or should give you advice there. It's your character! If you want her to be a raging ***** then so she shall be. If she needs to snap to get there, then write a mini-plot and prepare for the roller-coaster of other characters responses.

Thank you for your input, truly. And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one in that regard, but then, I sort of already knew I wasn't.

Now as for the idea of doing the solo thing is that I REALLY hate doing solo threads. In Dawn's case it took me I think about six months to finish writing it, I had to seriously back date it because of that. It's part of why I started this thread in the first place, I really suck at thinking up plots in general, I mean REALLY suck! I've tried using everything for inspiration from Movies and Books to Plot Generators online. Nothing really spoke to me to actually inspire me to write or I felt it didn't fit the canon or the character. I Really Really suck at thinking up plots and its a disclaimer I tell everyone that RPs with me.

Now in regards to the ideas you said, that is the kind of thing I was looking for! However when it comes to my chars, I don't think some of them work. I shall go in order:

1: Like you said this is something that doesn't seem to really work especially if not done correctly. That said this is something that I am trying with Ursa currently and would like to do with Dawn. In Ursa's case in this regard she has someone to rp at least one of the powers with, but Dawn I don't know if Mad will be up for this one and I REALLY don't want to Solo Dawn getting it... It would take me forever to write the damn thing.
2: The fae seem to illued me. I mean I mention them from time to time with Ursa since she's the only one to have had bad experiences with them. But I only RP them as passing thoughts because the wiki isn't clear enough on the fae idea for my liking for me to feel confident in centering a whole thread around them.
3: This is something I could probably use, Especially with Charlie who has the "concerned relatives" curse. She's quite frightened that they will find her and because of the "rules" of the city she'd only have two options kill them or be killed because she wouldn't kill them and they die anyways. I could also use this for Ursa... Only difference is if it wasn't someone she knew she'd kill them and have no qualms about it... It would be a very short thread. :/
4: Sadly I don't think I can see my chars doing these, plus with the new proficiency thing you can actually say how good you are at some things. In Ursa's case she has the wilting touch and weed walking (yes I know a strange combo) curses so everything dies with Ursa anyways lol... The only thing I could think of her trying and ultimately failing at would be cooking for Jordan (and he's not an uber big forum player but unlike some I've tried playing with... He's willing to try because he loves his friends lol). Charlie and Dawn are pretty handy and Isabeau could give a rats *** about new hobbies lol.
5: Sadly, the only char that would freak at this situation is Isabeau, and she's a straight human so there would be no ripping it from the wall. Beating it within an inch of its like with a tire iron might be amusing, but don't think it would drawn anyone in.

Still though, thank you for the ideas... I may put one or two of them to use if I can find willing participants.

Speaking of your line though... Charlie is actually under Nikolae I believe... She may have cut ties with Killian but she wouldn't be against meeting other "family" members. She still chats on the Worthington Crow from time to time lol.

And Cass, I did not forget about you... I thought about something you said and you're right, TV hasn't done much in the way of inspiring hacking RPs especially for groups. But Movies have... Matrix comes to mind and a personal favorite of mine Hackers! And you know I think one of the premises of that movie would really work if Charlie gave a rats *** about Politics. I could totally see a bunch of hackers getting together to bring down one of the canedats in funny ways (in the movie one of the chars has the FBI agent chasing them listed as deceased haha). I really think that this would be the ONLY political rp I'd get behind. However since there is no "least of both evils" when it comes to whatever David may be planning with them, the only thing I could think is bring them all down!

Everyone’s made some excellent suggestions for you, but I think what you’re actually asking is for us to come up with ideas for you and your characters.

I’m a little resistant to give specific ideas because it feels as though I’m doing half the work for you and not reaping any rewards unless I have one of my characters join your/my thread.

Still, I would say throw yourself at people. From what I have learned, people are inherently selfish. They want to know what you can offer them or what you might be able to give in a trade, rather than just what they can give to you.

I see a lot of threads on this forum asking for people to become roles for their characters’ lives or asking people if they would like their character to fill in a role. If that doesn’t speak of self-absorption, I don’t know what does! I swear, I meant that in a round-about nice way. >.>

Anyway, my point is, why not do the same for your characters? What can they offer other people?

I’m in Marketing/Copywriting/Proofreading. We remember three important things when selling to the general public:

Who are you talking to?
What do we want them to do?
Why the hell should they care?

If you can answer those things, it might take you some way to getting a campaign off the ground.
