Feats.

Post by Lazarus »

So with the skill increase to 20, and beta seemingly close to an end, I figure it is about time to ask this. Now I know David doesn't want to hinder people's creativity or anything, but we have had 'caps' placed on feats in the past, so I for one, am extremely curious about just want kind of feats we can reasonably expect our characters to be capable of at different skill points.

Just to illustrate my point: I think it was back when the Pratt's hijacked the radio station and spread out a bunch of vampire identities, that Ariadne hacked into the HR's police forces Database and deleted a number of files on characters. At the time David allowed it, but also said that something like that would not be possible again until the cap was raised.

That would be just one example, personally I am curious what a Strength or Dexterity of 30 is capable of when pushed to the absolute limit. Really I would love to have some kind of ball park on each skill and attribute, possibly both a mid range feat level and a very top end one.

Much as I love this idea, I really don't see this happening. There is something of a discrepancy between what happens on the grid and what happens in RP as I've learned the hard way.

I think the simplest way to look at it would be by looking at humans. A normal human PC starts off with stats of:
Strength 3
Dexterity 3
Charisma 3
Intelligence 4
Willpower 4
Skill 4
Stamina 0
Healing 0
Arcane 10

My Pureblood Human, Cornelius, is tied for the highest level Pureblood in the game according to the Leaderboards, has slightly higher stats of:
Strength: 5
Dexterity: 11
Stamina: 0
Intelligence: 4
Willpower: 4
Skill: 20
Charisma: 3
Healing: 0
Arcane: 10

His stats are that high because Neil is a WHOPPING level 14.

Now I'm going to roll up a Random Human NPC "Employee". Just some shmuck on the street looking for a job.
Name: Amy Castillo
Stats
Strength: 15 <-- this is 6 levels in Strength (Human baseline is 3, so a difference of 12 divided by 2 stat points per level is 6)
Intelligence: 6 <-- 1 level soaked into Intelligence
Charisma: 16 <-- 6.5 levels
Stamina: 12 <-- 6 levels
Skill: 11 <-- 3.5 levels
Business: 9 <-- doesn't matter... would overlap with other levels as it's a skill.

So this random NPC mook is at least level 24 (have to add level 1 where you get no bonuses), IF they put zero levels into Dexterity, Willpower, Healing, and Arcane.

More than that, this human NPC has stats superior to the average starting Vampire. Furthermore, she's better than any Pureblood PC in the game ever.

So, I don't think you can try to tie Stats to anything "real" in terms of RP. You have to suspend disbelief... or otherwise accept that some random woman looking to be a secretary for Wendigo's company has greater physical strength than Wendigo himself.

Ari hacked it twice. As far as I know, she's the only one to hack the HRPD.
