A Working Visit [Micah]

Post by Shan »

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Shan: The heat in the room was stiffling. It hit her wave after wave, the kiln needing the heat to be effective enough, Shan producing weapon after weapon from the spare parts she had sent her thrall out to find. Seraphine was good at it too; Shan had plenty to work with. Picking up the sword from the cooling table, she inspected it for imperfections before sheathing it and sliding it in a tall box already full of weapons; handguns, rifles, swords, knives, spears and even a couple bludgeoners. She needed to get rid of them, but she didnt much feel like selling her work. Not yet. Pulling her phone out and turning it on she sent off a text really fast. "Hey, Micah."

Micah: : This **** was tedious work. Building after building, door after door - it all blended into one big blur of nothing. Stealing used to give him a thrill. Get in, sneak right around the guards, take the important **** and get the **** out without getting caught. Now it was just boring. Like everything else. And by the mood he was in, it showed. A glance his list had him scowling, as he was getting tired and hadn't managed even a quarter of the **** he needed. His phone vibrated in his pocket and he welcomed the distraction as he pulled it from his pocket to swipe his thumb across the screen. Shan. That was a surprise, and for that reason alone he responded. "Shan?"

Shan: She set her phone down to put on her thick suade gloves, only because she had been burnt a couple times already and having to either heal herself overnight or just shrug off the effects of the wound as is. Picking up the handle of the blade that was immersed in coals, she pulled it out and inspected the orange hot glowing blade before her phone went off not nearly a minute after sending her text. She raised a brow, clearly not expecting a reply so fast. She shoved the sword back into the coals for safe keeping and pulled her gloves off as she walked back over to the bench, picking up the phone and tossing her gloves aside. "I need someone to take these weapons off my hands, so I have room for better ones. Im getting good at it."

Micah: : After he sent off the text he set off for the next warehouse. So far all he had managed was a bunch of useless, rusty blades and broken down guns. There wasn't a decent one in the lot, at least he didn't think so. The good ones he'd been getting he put aside for Shan so she could break them down and make them ino something good. He slipped into the building and made his way through the darkened corridors, picking up what he could and picking the locks of the doors he came across. Just as he stepped back outside his phone vibrated. An amused smirk crossed his face as he read the text. Interesting he'd just been thinking about what the weapons. "I'm on my way. Have some **** for you to go through anyways. Gimme five."

Shan: Tossing her phone back to the bench and grabbing up her gloves, she slipped them back onto her hands and moved back to the blade in the coals. Pulling it out once more she took it over to the anvil, setting it against it and picking up the mallet. Flexing her muscles as she got a good grip on the sword, she loosened her grip on the mallet and swung it down hard onto the molten hot metal. Repeating the process a couple times then flipping the blade, she worked the metal over until her phone went off again, buzzing annoyingly on the bench. She smirked and put the blade back into the coals once more, repeating the process of removing her gloves and setting to the bench once more to pick up her phone. She raised her brows. Ever the eager he was. "Yep. Doors open."

Micah: : He didn't bother to send a reply. She knew he was coming, and sometimes he just wandered on over just for shits and giggles. Usually he had a reason, like opening a gate for her and Layla or dropping random craftng bits on her unexpectedly. She never seemed to mind. It was strange, the position they were now in. When he'd first met the woman he hated her but she was Vel's and so he made an effort to get over it. He did eventually and now she was one of his as if he'd sired her himself. With Vel forgetting her...that bothered him. Micah didn't understand it, and he'd did his best to get his wife to understand and remember but it didn't work. Making his way to Layla's trailer he pushed the door open and headed for the basement finding Shan exactly where she said she would be. He dropped the bag to the floor and kicked it towards her with the toe of his boot. "Got some **** in there ya might want."

Shan: The phone was once again tossed to the bench, not worrying much about a response to that as she knew she herself wouldnt give one. She much didnt bother with her phone most days, she usually kept to herself and didnt do much of anything else these days, aside from the occasion romp through a few warehouses that sometimes offered her the kind of weapons she was looking for. She headed over to the kiln and opened it, picking up the giant tongs and reaching into it with them to pull out another gun and set that on the cooling table just before Micah ducked under the doorway and dropped a bag on the ground. It clattered and clanked, and Shans eyes glinted a bit before she set the tongs down and headed over to it.

Shan: "I've grown to like your little visits. I always get presents." She smirked, looked at him with a nod before bending and unzipping the bag to start rifling through the weapons with one hand, pointing to the box with the complete products with the other. "Some good ones there."

Micah: : He shot her a flat stare. "Birthday presents." His tone was flat and utterly sarcastic. She wouldn't take it personally though, she never did. Shan was a lot like him - neither of them really gave a **** about **** like that. Just let it roll of their backs. In all seriousness, she was spending her time and her energy to craft some really awesome ****. The least he could do was make sure she had the parts she needed in order to do that. Even Bunny went out searching the slums and the catacombs for that purpose, and it made the girl feel needed. "Keep what you can use, I'll just sell the rest off."

Shan: The weapons in the bag were plentiful. There were enough for her to rifle through, using both hands to pull out an axe and inspect it while pinching on its sharp edge with her forefinger and thumb. She scoffed and looked up at him, shaking her head before looking back down. She set the axe aside, pulling out a blade that was a bit better in its sleek-ness, providing a better accuracy to the weilder than the axe would have. She set that one aside too, giving another nod before pulling a rusty blade out and giving a smirk. "Likely get chum change for the rest. Pity really," She waved the rusted blade about before flipping it over and giving a swift motion. "The rusted ones could do more damage long term. Tetanus is a *****, I've heard."

Micah: : He was silent as he watched her go through the various weapons in the bag. As she pulled a few out and set them off to the side he nodded slightly, pleased that she had managed to find a few worth saving. "Don't matter much to me. Got more cash than I know what to do with." He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall. "Know a few people I'd enjoy stabbing with a rusty blade just to hear em scream like a *****."

Shan: She smirked, head tipping to the side and giving a half roll, as if to say 'got that right,' tossing the rusted blade back into the bag and pulling out two more short blades and setting them aside as well. Not seeing anything much else worth saving, she nudged the bag away and set to collecting the couple of weapons she had accepted. Getting up she moved to put them in a bin on the other side of the kiln, she'd take them apart later when she was feeling more up to it. Reaching up and scratching at her throat, she shifted and moved to retrieve her gloves once more. "Got lots of enemies, I'd imagine. Cant be easy being you." She admitted, rolling her shoulders as she pulled the blade out of the coals once more and headed back to the anvil.

Micah: : He bent down and zipped the bag up nudging it out the way with his foot as he took in the room. He'd never paid much attention the the forge in the Eyrie. For the most part it sat there unused. Every so often he'd see Blake there but never stopped to pay any attention to what was going on. The sound of her voice pulled him back to the present and out of his thoughts. "I'm sure I do. Ain't tryin t'win any popularity contests after all." Another shrug. "Don't need more than what I got. People ain't gonna like me because of what I represent but people like that can just go n'**** themselves."

Shan: She set the orange hot blade back to the anvil, picking up the mallet and setting to work the metal once more, each strike giving a hard ring in her ears though she could hear him just fine. She snickered and paused, mallet raised as she looked over at him. "********. You got yourself a little harem, and you know it." She smirked, giving him a bit of a stare before setting back to swinging the mallet down onto the already cooling metal.

Micah: : There was that word again. Harem. "Ain't fuckin them so how the **** can that be considered a harem Shan?" True he sired mostly females, but that wasn't his fault. Not really. He'd always been drawn to ones that were in trouble, or troubled in some way. Wasn't something that he ever really questioned but looking at his line he could see why someone would say he had a harem. "Except one but I'm married to that one."

Shan: She stopped again, raising her brows. She had gotten a bit of a slight rouse out of him with that one, and she smiled a fangy grin at him. "Bunch'a fangirls, the lot of 'em." She gave him a softer smile then, rolling her shoulders a bit and picking the blade up to return it to the coals. "Nah. They are all strong people, honestly. Just gotta give em better weapons." She didnt even touch the subject of her blood sire, though she sure as hell thought about it.

Micah: : He snorted softly. "Yeah not even close there darlin. You'd be surprised at how often I talk t'any of em." He caught sight of her smirk and cursed at himself internally. She'd gotten what she wanted. A reaction. He let it slide though. "They're a decent bunch." A nod.

Micah: : "They have decent weapons now, thanks to you. Should keep em safe for a good while." He shifted in place and uncrossed his arms, a hand coming up to rub the back of his head. "Thanks for this. You don't have to make this **** but you do. And you don't ask for anything in return. So if there's anything you need, just ask."

Shan: She paused for a moment, shuffling the blade in the hot coals before pulling it back out and turning back to the anvil. Was there anything she could ask for? He had already given her so much, and clearly he didnt see it as such. She owed him a lot, allowing her to remain so close to the family she had only recently claimed as her own. Flipping the mallet in her hand a couple of times, she shook her head and looked over at him. "Its not about that. What more could I need?" She started pounding on the metal again.

Micah: : He watched her hit the metal over and over. Seemed like a pretty good way to take out one's frustrations. "I know it ain't about that Shan. I know you ain't doing this cause y'feel obligated to do it." He waved a hand in the general direction of her work area. "Ain't sayin that you have to need anything. It's an open offer and it could be anything, be it parts to make this **** or anything like that. Don't matter much."

Shan: Flipping the blade again she hit it a couple more times before turning the the basin of water and putting the blade into it to cool it quickly. She looked over at him as the water turned to steam from the intense heat the blade was offering. "Appreciated." And the look in her eyes spoke the rest of the sentence for her - that it was greatly appreciated that he would do that for her. "Its been... a break from the sewers, honestly. Ny was always givin' me **** about reekin' up the place." She scoffed, shaking her head, looking back down to the blade and pulling it out of the bucket to take it to the cooling table along side the gun. "Though its a good thing this takes just as much work. I'd likely be crawling out of my skin if it didnt."

Micah: : One word, but it rang of sincerity. And coming from Shan it was something. After all the weapons she'd made in the past few weeks his offer paled in comparison to that. "Does she ever go out anymore?" He cast a glance in the direction of where Nyla was resting. Every time he came in she was in the same spot, never moving and still as a statue. It was starting to worry him. He never heard from her, and if he wasn't seeing her with his own eyes he'd really worry she was dead. "I don't like to be idle either. Don't like standing around, bein in the same place all the time."

Shan: Shan looked through the door and into the sitting room, Nyla resting there. "Not much anymore. Sometimes I have to wake her up just to remind her to feed." She sighed, She thought back to the competition, the way the woman had absolutely owned it and killed over 100 Ancients in just a short few days. But since then, Ny had taken her seat there, and hadnt much moved. It was sad, really, in the way a feral cat loses the will to live. "Clearly she doesnt mind that... I did it for almost two years in the realm, honestly." She shook her head, "But that, I'll never understand." She said, pointing over to Ny.

Micah: : He didn't get it either and as he cast another glance at the girl he more or less considered his own he couldn't help but wonder what had happened to her. She had always been one of the few that he could count on. Always texting asking him about stealth raids or he'd text to see if she had something he needed. Now he couldn't even remember the last time he spoke to her. It bothered him. "Me either. Tempted to dump a bucket of water on her head and tell her t'wake her *** up but I don't think she'd like that too well."

Shan: Shan laughed. Shaking her head she let her laugh die down, checking her pockets and pulling out a pack of smokes. "Its damn hot in here." She stated, plucking a stick from the pack and placing it between her lips. Pulling out a zippo that was red with silver and gold etched flames, she lit it up and inhaled deeply. Exhaling, she turned and leaned against the table. "I've got her." She stated, crimson hues staring over at Nyla as she took another drag off the smoke. "Its the least I could do for her."

Micah: : "I didn't notice." He lied. It quite honestly felt like they were standing in the pits of hell but he was cool about it. Didn't let on that he was uncomfortable or anything cause thats just how he was. A faint smile briefly appeared before it was gone just as quick. "She's lucky to have you." And he meant it. After Jax had gone to sleep Layla hadn't had anybody, and so he'd stepped in to fill Jaxton's shoes. She was just as much his as any of the others and Layla knew that. He just wished she was around more often than she was. Maybe someday she would be.

Shan: Shan looked over at him. Her look was filled with surprise, really. She hadnt ever heard anyone say anything like that to her. She had only ever taken care of herself, only ever cared for anyone but herself. She blinked at him, unsure of what to say. It wasnt like he had told her she was the greatest person ever, but he had said something to her that she had honestly never expected to hear a moment in her life. She gave a bit of a smile, flipping her cigarette and looking down to watch the ashes hit the wood floor. "Thanks." Was muttered, glancing back to him as she took another pull off the smoke.

Micah: : He couldn't help but snicker. Catching Shan off guard was something that he didn't think was possible but he'd gone and done it. Why that pleased him so much he didn't know. "Don't worry. Ain't gonna say no more **** that makes you feel the feels." He got a dig in at her letting her know that her unexpected reaction amused him.

Shan: She snickered and gave a nod, "Please dont." He was clearly amused, and she found that it wasnt a bad thing to have him in that kind of mood. It made it easier to realize just how much she had holed herself up in the room that had the forge and the crafting bench all to herself. She rolled her shoudlers a bit again, her muscles feeling tense as she exhaled another drag and flipped the expended butt to the floor. Crossing her arms over her chest, she looked over at him again and shrugged. "I've needed her as much as she's needed me. Its a decent balence of give and take, her and I. At least I'd like to think so. Cant speak for her."

Micah: : His head rolled on his shoulders and he realized how tired he felt. And there really was no reason for it except the fact that he'd been spending most of his time sitting inside staring at the same walls over and over. "Maybe you can convince her to not be such a stranger it. I...miss her." The words were unfamiliar on his tongue as was evident by the way he stumbled over spitting them out.

Shan: She raised her brows, remembering the last time she had seen Nyla fiddling at the crafting bench, all dressed up and no where else to go. She had just gotten home from the Masq event held by Every, and Shan smirked as she gave a nod. "You saw her, at the Masq, actually." Shan smiled, shaking her head, "She was the one who left early. I caught her here, tinkering with the computer parts." She gave a nod, "I'll see what I can do."

Micah: : He blinked obviously surprised. "I...didn't even know she was there," he admitted clearly ashamed. Had he known he would have made an effort to seek her out and spend some time with her. No costume would ever be able to conceal his identity and he accepted that. Being social wasn't really his thing anyways. He did notice the early departure and wondered if it had been Layla but he hadn't dwelled on it. "Well she showed so thats a good thing. Just wish she'd be around more often, so if you can get her to come 'round I'd appreciate that."

Shan: She nodded. "I'll talk to her tonight when I wake her up to feed." She smiled lightly, rolling her head to the side, enough to stretch out her neck muscles and hear the base of her skull pop softly, then rolled it to the other side for the same. She looked back over at him. "I didnt even know she was there... and I've been living with her. Apparently Hannah helped." She shrugged, turning and picking up the gun from the cooling table, it finally finished as she tossed it to Micah. "Check it out. My best yet." She nodded.

Micah: : He caught the weapon neatly as she tossed it to him and brought it up to get a good look at it. It defintely was her best yet. "This is pretty awesome Shan." Looking up he offered a small grin. "Well done."

Shan: "You bet." She smiled, slicking her hands through her hair and putting it up in a nice neat ponytail. Scratching at her throat, she sighed. Thirst had risen again, and again, and again. She pursed her lips to the side. "I should probably get something to drink." She pushed off the table, motioning to the door. "You're welcome to join me but its nothing glamorous."

Micah: : He tucked the gun safely away. "Thanks but I should be getting back. Wife's probably wondering where I am." He cringed a bit at the mention. He didn't know how Shan felt about Vel now and he didn't want to ask. Doubted it was a subject that either of them wanted to discuss right now. But some night there were going to have to, just..not now. He pushed off the wall and bent to pick up the bag. "If you need anything don't hesitate to text yeah?"

Shan: She was heading through the door when he mentioned his wife again. Vel. Her blood sire. Shan nearly turned and shot him a dagger filled stare, but she knew better. She knew he was one of the few in her corner, she knew he was just trying to maintain the 'peace' and yet still making everything work. She sighed and walked through the door into the resting room, turning and giving him a nod. "Yeah, sure, alright. I will."

Micah: : He just nodded. Apparently even the mentioning of the word wife was a knife to the back even if he hadn't meant it that way. Best thing to do now was to make tracks. "Take care Shan, and thanks again." Instead of using his tome he stepped through the portal that Layla had put in and landed at Bullwood station. That night, he just felt like walking home.
