Traquility - [Opal]

Post by Verity (DELETED 3963) »

The satisfying sound of the lock clicking into place put a smile on her lips, walking through her now closed studio to her private stairs, entering her apartment. Hearing Rex behind her, she grabbed hold of the leash from the side table with a grin. “Wanna go for a walk, Rex?” she asked her, kneeling down and rubbing her down, met with some licks and happy sounds at the prospect of a walk. And, while she wouldn’t be fully relaxed for it given her training, she knew Rex liked the walks as much as she did, so a chance to get out of the studio would be a nice change of pace for her.

Leash securely fixed about her, they started off, door locked behind her as she made for the elevator. While walking, she called Nolan to let him know of her decision, hanging up just as the light hit her face. Warmth, that’s the first thing she felt and suddenly her spirits were ten-times heightened, feeling all the happier about her decision to go to the park. It was one place that she knew she could get to with no issue, given the time of day there would be limited to no vampires (if any ventured out during the day; she’d yet to confirm that completely), and there would be likely no interruption. Anything that did happen could be handled by her dog and it’d leave her with her book and a warm park bench, somewhere near the water she had her heart set on.

Nothing could spoil her mood.

Walking down toward the park, the waters of the river caught her attention, calming her despite her fear of water. Something about the sound as it lapped at the shores was pleasing to the ear, likely born from the familiarity of it and her surroundings—or so she’d presumed. One hundred forty, one hundred forty-one, one hundred forty-two, her mind counted off, each step led by the ever watchful Rex. One hundred forty-seven, one hundred forty-eight, one hundred forty-nine!

A hand reached out to feel around for a bench, her shin encountering it first as she felt around for the usual steel arm rests and hit the wooden planks first. Smile broadening, she nestled in with her book, fingers gliding over the page, phone resting beneath it in her lap. Rex sat in front of her, leaning against her leg, as relaxed as she was bound to get.

Just what I needed…peace, quiet, and relaxation…Then I can go back to work, rejuvenated.

Opal had come to Harper Rock to hide from her rather mean, Scottish family. Her first night here had been crazy. She’d believed there was a serial killer, murders, dissapearances and then the very same night she was approached by a hooded figure who spoke in riddles – until he touched her shoulder from that very moment she had seen the world with a new world. She had acquired these strange powers. She could jump fences with one hoist. She had even been gifted with the use of a blade and a gun. Where it all came from, she didn’t know. She’d suspected it was the hooded figure.

She’d found the zombies in the fenced place. She didn’t know the name of the area, but she wouldn’t tell a soul. They’d think you were crazy, Opieee. The voice would say. There was always that nagging voice at the back of the head that always seemed to say the right thing, at the right time – or that would make sure she remembered that she probably was crazy after all. Who knew these days, she never truly felt relaxed around these parts – unless she was with Nelle. She knew she was safe around the woman, she’d also learnt how to thieve. She was pretty damn good at it too.

Who knew the people of this place wanted Nuts and Bolts, heck – even oil? She scoffed popping a white stick into her mouth she left the place that enclosed the zombies. Who knew merchants actually bought their ears? All crusted and horrible looking. Opal wasn’t squeamish. Far from it, she’d seen her fair share. She’d done her fair share. It’s not as if you could yell to the world. ‘Hey! I talk to dead people.’ Ha, that would be an odd way to start a conversation with someone.

Her mind spouting off in different directions had brought her to a park – better yet it was pretty empty besides a woman, and her dog. Lighting up the cigarette she headed over and took a seat next to her petting the dog’s head she smiled.

“You alright there lass?” She asked in her Scottish accent.
