Alexandrea just stared at Odin, a horrible feeling gripping her chest."I want you to know I care about you."
She swallowed a huge lump in her throat and blinked her eyes, swearing to her self she wasn't going to cry."I want you to know I'll always have your back."
Her eyes squeezed closed and she turned her head away as her heart was ripped apart, she was unable to look at Odin and not able to think of a single thing that she could say."I want you to remember me."
Alexandrea turned back around just in time to see Odin's back going out the door and sank down to her knees. Why had he even brought her here? He seemed like he was ready to talk about things between them. But there was no discussion. It had all been so one sided. Mostly his just yelling. It wasn't fair. She wanted to know, to understand. She wanted the chance to have her say. To tell him how much he really meant to her."I'm going for a walk, you can show yourself out."
Standing up, Alex went and sat on the edge of Odin's bed. She stared at the ruined pj bottoms and her old Maple Leaves' jersey on the floor blankly but just left them there.
Why? She just kept asking herself, over and over. Just.. why. She knew what is was to be dumped when it happened. And she had just been dumped. But she didn't understand why. It was clear that Odin wanted to end their relationship, whatever kind of relationship it had been. But she needed a reason.
But apparently Odin didn't seem willing to give her one. Why?
'He cares about me, he says... ' Alex thought to herself. 'He'll have my back', he says. Wants me to remember him... The blonde snorted most unbecomingly and tossed her hair. "Like I could ever forget.." She muttered with frustration.
Alex didn't know for how long she just sat there. At times she told herself she was waiting for him to come back so she just confront him and demand some answers. Like THAT would get her anywhere. But then she would just laugh at herself and finally, at last, she stood up. Not knowing how much time had passed or even giving a damn.
She spared one last look at her discarded clothing and then walked out of the room without a single look back. Odin could just throw them away. Alexandrea never wanted to see them again. They would only remind her of how humiliating it had been to stand there as naked as a new born babe in front of him, just to get rejected.
Alex made her way though Odin's obstacle course of traps to the stairs and then went down to the main floor. She had left a few things at Odin's place over the last year or so. Alexandrea took a pillowcase off of a pillow in the empty room that she had put some clothes in the closet of and then filled it up with everything that was hers except for a pair of jeans, a sweater and some sneakers. She dressed in those quickly and then left a note on the bare pillow. "I'll have the pillowcase returned to you asap."
Pausing for a minute after getting to the front door, Alexandrea sniffed the air. The scent of freshly cut wood was still in the lingering in the apartment, Odin's scent. She wondered if he was still there but hidden in shadows. She didn't care. Chances were that even if he wasn't acting like a stalker again and watching her in person while he stayed hidden, that he had cameras set up everywhere. Alex had given him enough of them over the last two years.
She took off the chain around her neck that held her father's ring and undid the clasp that held not only the necklace closed, but a second loop of chain which held a key, a key that she had always kept hidden at the back of her neck and under her hair since she got it. The key that Odin had given her to his place, she wasn't even sure how long ago. She set that key down on a table by the door and then replaced the chain around her neck.
"I don't know if you can hear me, or will hear this. But, Odin? If you do hear this? I don't understand. And no, that's not your problem. I won't try to bother you again. I hope you will be happy. Goodbye, Odin." She almost added that she loved him but stopped her self, she had already made a big enough fool of her self.
Alexandrea left the apartment after that, closing the door tightly behind her. She got on the elevator hugging the pillow case of her things tightly in front of her as it carried her down to the ground level and then Alex headed for the train. She was too exhausted to run.
