Dear Micah,
I am sorry it took me so long to write. Things have been... strange. And at times incredibly frightening. I was glad to leave Syria and all signs of civilization behind. We are currently at our second stop on the road to Saudi Arabia. Slowly we will make our way to Egypt, and then on to Saudi Arabia. It is a circuitous route that has us spending much time away from civilization. We spend our nights camped around various Oasis' that the tribe knows. There really are no maps, every thing they know comes from memory and the direction of the stars.
I wish I could describe to you the desolate beauty of the desert at night, but there are no words than can encompass it. Riding across still warm sands beneath a blanket of stars with only the moon for light. It can really make a person feel how truly small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. But it has also provided me with the space and clarity I need to work out my problems and become a better person. I am not quite ready to return as I still have a few more adventures planned in other countries.
However, while I have been out here I have been practicing my skills with tattooing, piercing and scarification. The last one is actually really easy to do in the desert because the heat helps the open wounds heal rather nicely with little chance of infection. The women make a natural salve out of Coconut juice, camel's milk and herbs that seems to work really well. It has a sharp, crisp smell. It's almost refreshing, actually. I will bring some home for you.
I want to get a gift for Miss Velveteen when we stop in Cairo, but I am not sure what she likes. I did not really have a chance to get to know her very well before I left. Perhaps you can write me back and give me some ideas? It would be very much appreciated. For now I will close this letter. It is an hours ride to the town and I want to have this in the mail to you before we break camp and move out in to the desert. I have included the return address in Cairo and I hope to hear from you soon.
In Allah's Light,
Aysel Asun Johari El-Sayed.

Re: Feel The Adrenaline
Dear AJ-
Sorry it’s taken me so long to get a letter out to you. I havent written a letter since I was like 12 and it was one of those silly little notes that dudes write to chicks when they think they’re in love. Maybe they dont do that kind of **** where you come from though. Well anyways, it’s been a really long time. So if I ramble and this doesn’t make much sense, just grin and bear it eh? I prefer text or email. Can go back over and fix my mistakes easier. And I dont think you want a letter full of scribbles so you’ll have to deal with my rambling messy scribbles.
Take whatever time that you need before you return. I know ****’s been hard for you around here lately and I’m sorry I haven’t been all that much help. Ugh. Feels. Messy **** that is. I say lock that **** up, give yourself a bandaid and move on but you ain’t me and can’t do that as easily as I can. Though I’m glad to hear that you seem to be enjoying yourself. Scarification eh? You know I’ve had a few enquiries on that. It’s not something that I am familiar with but there seems to be an interest in it. Maybe you could show me what you can do when you get home and I’ll promote you to that job at Adrenaline. How’s that sound?
Vel likes owls. And dead things. But I think if you brought something dead home it would stink up your bag then you’d have to go shopping to replace everything. You don’t strike me as the shopping type so thats out. Get her something gothic. And black. It has to be black. Silver is a passable substitute though. See what I mean about rambling? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Been...I don’t know - interesting? Yeah interesting, around here. Im not gonna put any of it in a letter though. Far too much **** to get out and then that will get into that forbidden territory of feels that I don’t like talking about and then I’d get mad and have to start this all over again. And since I’ve made decent progress I ain’t gonna do that ****. I am however, gonna wish you safe travels, and end this letter. I hope this gets to you soon and safely. Write back if you want, though it might take another two weeks for me to respond. Take care.
Micah

Re: Feel The Adrenaline
Micah,
Your reply came just in time as we were getting ready to leave Cairo. Abdallah stopped one last time to see if there was any mail and he brought your letter to me.
I have included some hard copy photos of the work I have done while I have been with the tribe. And I will be happy to demonstrate my skills when I return home, promotion or no promotion. I probably should have told you sooner, but after so many times of branding or scaring really stupid things, I kept it to myself. I can only brand '69' on some ones bicep so many times.
Owls, black with silver as an okay substitute. Thank you. That is more than I knew of her tastes. All I really know about her is that she is an amazing tactician and her favorite thing, besides killing, is you. Perhaps next time we communicate we can do it over the phone. I left Zakar with a satellite phone for communication. I am sure he will let you borrow it if that is an easier way. It's got video so it would be almost like we are in the same room.
Speaking of Zakar, he told me he sired some one that he refers to as "a breath of fresh air." I am glad to see that he is doing so well. It almost sounds as if his life is becoming less complicated, just like mine. Which can only be a good thing, true?
Other than that though, there is not much left to say. I have been keeping up with my training. I have gotten faster, stronger and even a little more mechanically inclined, thanks to some local villagers.
I hope to hear from you soon.
