Signature is commonly used as distinctive characteristics indicative of identity. I think you're thinking something more specific like "signing" the work which many killers have done as well. The MO of an individual can be a signature trait because it identifies a killing as falling in to the unique pattern of a particular individual.

In Digo's case we have very little information. Most are not planned murders, they're crimes of opportunity. They're all against gang members. They all make use of high caliber weaponry. With that in mind, I think the Gunslinger is most fitting. It implies a certain lack of planning and the signature trait of fun use.

Yes.

I did like the Gunslinger cause that was the first one to come to mind.

However, I am partial to the Narcotics Killer of Harper Rock. I just like the ring to it.

You think about Harper Rock and the sheer number of gangsters, guards, hunters, Enforcers, blood thieves and more that are killed every single day and night. Think about the guns used, from these hundreds of people, there's going to be crossover. Digo might kill blood thieves with high calibre weapons - but then so might Micah, Jonah, Keara, Enver, Temperance, Kleo, etc etc.

No-one's suggesting that these murders are linked to Digo himself. But to get a serial killer name from the cops and press, then they need to be linked to one another and not just marked down as yet more violence in an already violent city. No-one's going to name someone they don't know exists, and has no specific MO/signature/linking factor other than just using high calibre bullets - which numerous charries in the city do.

It might be that no one sees the pattern of Blood Thief deaths and Digo's work goes unnoticed. I'm happy enough with that. I just took an RP Flaw and I thought RP might result. If it doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense. Most of my RP Planning Threads don't get anywhere anyway.

That's why I suggested that for it to work, someone is going to have to noticed. It's not like there isn't a record of their deaths. A young detective could easily get dumped with the paper work of filing these deaths and notice that some of the deaths came from the same type of bullet (s). OR a family member of a slain Blood Thief could start poking around because they want justice for their dead family member and start making waves about it in the media and the police department. OR a young journalist fishing for a story could easily get caught up with getting the story of a possible serial killer in Harper Rock out there so they could make a name for themselves.

I mean, golly, there are plenty of ways to get this into an actual RP. And I think it would be a wonderful ongoing story because it could possible affect the city alert if the cards are played right.

There is gold in this plot!

There ttly aren't hundreds of people being slaughtered on a nightly basis. That's a grid mechanic that should absolutely not be translated directly to RP. Harper Rock isn't that big. Even at 100 people per night (conservative grid kills of NPCs) the population of Harper Rock would have been wiped out months ago.

It wouldn't be the same type of bullets necessarily because as someone else said, many other people use similar type weapons that use the same ammo type.

But the striations on the bullet could raise a flag. Killers aren't found out completely by what type of gun they use but the marks left on the bullet from the gun. Perhaps Digo altered the barrel of his weapon so that it left an interesting mark on bullet that makes them stand out from other victims killed by gunshot.

That all comes into intricate factors to be devised as well. Digo is a highly intelligent and extremely cautious individual to the concepts of evidence base and what could be detrimental to what I've always seen as one of his primary concerns, the case against vampires. There's not always a bullet to be found, especially from professionals. Whether it be removed, or whether they opt to use fragmenting rounds or even paper-casing to eliminate ballistic fingerprinting.

I think the serial killer flaw is fitting for you, Digo. Considering he's generally emotionless and completely logical...and yet his passion to kill blood thieves stretches beyond that. I'd say that qualifies as a psychological compulsion.

I'd be inclined to agree with the before statements though. While it could be a classification of individuals noted enough to make him a serial killer, until he's established a signature... I don't think the media would have a name to go off of. Whether it be dumping ground, method of dispatch, ...his general MO.
