Deanna: Dea was a little too excited about her evening with Robert. The poor guy seemed to be clueless to the fact that the wraith was growing ever more attached to him and that him being nice to her in any way was making her crush on him worse. “Where are we going to get the movie?” she asked even though the question she wanted to ask was ‘where were they going to watch it’.This RP takes place on Friday 25th April 2014.
Robert: He smiled as he locked up his office in Solace and then headed with the wraith by his side out and into the city. "There's a video store just down the road from the university buildings. So we can get something there I'm sure. Do you know what sort of thing you want to see? What genre?" He smiled, glad he was not only having a night off but also spending some time with Dea and cheering her up, giving her a nice night to herself too.
Deanna: “Mmhhmm. Sure do. I like things about England. I’ll never get to go home so watching things about it are the next best thing. I like watching things from history too. I think they’re called period dramas? I watched a…mini-series I think it’s called recently. Sense and Sensibility. I really enjoyed that. It was written around the time I…well…died. But still. I like it. Do you like things like that?” Dea was babbling and quite clearly excited about the evening that lay ahead of them.
Robert: He smiled and nodded, loving how excited she sounded. "I do. I like them because things seemed.... simpler then. People had manners and knew how to behave. I've been watching a series called Downton Abbey recently. It's been really good! Well, we can start in that section and have a nose around. See if any of the covers and pictures take your fancy" As they walked through the woods, Robert was actually moving and holding the branches aside for her to walk by. Even though she could have easily just walked through them. It was habit for him, and he forgot that she was a wraith sometimes. He was just treating her as he would any woman.
Deanna: She laughed at his behaviour because it was a little silly but she appreciated the thought behind it. “You’re not gonna hurt me if you drop that branch you know. And I’m not sure I’ve seen that series yet. But if you think I might like it I’ll have Keara get it for me. What kind of movies do you like?” Dea wanted to know more about Robert. Their conversations were usually overly polite but Dea always felt she could tell him anything, she just wasn’t sure he felt the same way.
Robert: "I.... huh? What?" He looked at her and then the branch and grinned sheepishly. "Sorry, I keep forgetting you're a wraith so can just, walk through things and such. In my head, you're just another person, like me. So I treat you as I'd treat anyone I cared about." He just shrugged his shoulders and kept doing as he had been. "And hmmm. I like everything really. Depends on what mood I'm in and what I want to feel. Not too keen on the old ones though. By which I mean anything from before the 1990's" He laughed.
Deanna: She hadn’t heard much of what he said after he said he treated her like anyone else he cared about. He cared about her. That made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside, at least it might of if she had insides, but still the psychological affect was there. “This not being keen on old things…I’m assuming that’s limited to your choice in entertainment? Right?” She was suddenly a little concerned that his tastes in general were more towards the modern end of the scale, though if she thought about it for a moment she’d of realised her own tastes were far more modern than perhaps they should have been.
Robert: He laughed and nodded his head. "Of course. As I said when I was talking about Downton - I like that era, I like how people behaved and treated each other. I just like the special effects and the film style better from the more modern things."
Deanna: “Things were not simpler then. They were just as messy really. At least women of this era get to decide things for themselves. In my day were thought of as property. Well... Most of us were. Ven never treated us that way. He fawned over Keara and me. I couldn’t have hoped for a nicer sire. Considering I was training to be a thrall, I was lucky to get a sire at all I guess.” Dea’s voice always sounded ambivalent when she spoke of Ven as there was an equal mix of happiness and pain in remembering him.
Robert: "Sorry, what? You were training to be a thrall? I'm afraid I know nothing of anything before the supposed massacre. Nothing about how the vampires all worked and the society and such. Can you share?"
Deanna: “Well I’m not sure everyone worked the way we did. My parents were thralls in Ven’s guild. For us, it was like a term of employment. I guess the closest thing to connect it too is a calling or slavery. One or the other. Basically whole families worked as thralls. They married thralls. They raised thralls. We were treated well. Though I wasn’t keen on the idea if I’m honest. I didn’t want to be at someone’s beck and call. Fate is a cruel mistress eh? I mean that’s exactly how I survive now. Keara wants me and I go running.” She was laughing quite happily at that thought. “Could be worse. I could have been called by Enver.” Her shadowy form shivered softly at that prospect.
Robert: "True, you could have been. But then, you could have been called by me too. So you def got the best of a bad lot!" He chuckled softly. "Poor Leyna eh?" He jumped over a rock and then offered her his hand to help her over, again not thinking properly. "And how fascinating that is. Families of thralls making thralls and being thralls. Thank goodness there's nothing like that now, or that would be another cause for me to take up as I try to free them all!"
Deanna: She shook her head at Robert, not paying any attention to the obstacles of the physical plane. “Actually that’s how Keara ended up with Epsilon. He was a descendant of a family we had helping us here. They kept some of her diaries and things all the time she was gone. Kinda amazing really if you think about it. He recognised her true name from something or other and sought her out. When he asked to be turned, she couldn’t really say no. He was really helpful till he kinda just disappeared one day.”
Robert: "I've never heard of Epsilon I'm afraid. But yeh, that's amazing - that some of her things survived. Did any of yours?"
Deanna: “A couple of my diaries and a silver brush set Ven bought me. I think that’s about it. Keara has them somewhere safe. She knows I’ll never need them but she said I might just like knowing where they are.”
Robert: "Awww. I'm so pleased some of your things survived too! And...." He frowned, thinking of something. "Have you heard of your kind.... possessing another before?"
Deanna: “Possessing what? Wraiths don’t have much use for possessions. If you can’t interact with things, then you have no business owning them. I kinda like that some days. Not having anything. It’s kind of freeing.”
Robert: Chuckles. "No no. Not possessing something, but possessing someone. You say you have a brush set. What if you took over someone's body and just felt the brush in their hair - but it would be your hair, just for that moment. Doesn't Enver have that thrall? Hannah? You could take her over, couldn't you?"
Deanna: Dea shook her head. “Enver has a male now. If it’s at all possible, he’s a bigger waste of space than Enver is. Man’s an idiot. I followed him a couple of times and all he seems to do is hang out and grope women. Crash that is, not Enver. If I could catch him doing that I wouldn’t have to deal with him any longer. Sadly, he barely leaves Keara’s side. And…wait…possess as in take over someone’s body? That sounds…difficult.”
Robert: "Oh. What happened to Hannah? I liked her. And, Dea, do you just not like men?" He chuckled, genuinely wondering. "Are you a lesbian?" They'd reached the edge of the wilderness so he paused to answer her. "And I'm afraid I've no idea how hard or easy it would be to take a body - but Mystics do it when they come back from being dead. So it has to be possible right? Now, we'll be in public, so I can talk to you telepathically. But can you reply in any way without folks seeing you?"
Deanna: “Nope. You’ll be babbling to yourself I’m afraid. I can whisper. And no. I’m not a lesbian. Why would you think that?” She didn’t realised how all her talk of Enver made her come across. “As for Hannah. Best not to ask. You won’t like the answer. Basically he fired her. A month or so later she died.”
Robert: "Oh no! Did Enver send her family a card, flowers, anything? As for why I'd think you're a lesbian.... Well.... you do come off a little like a man hater!" He chuckled and then headed out of the woods towards the store that wasn't too far away and could be seen from where they were. He crossed the road and then let himself in, looking up at the tinkling bell as he went. He stood for a moment, looking around to get his bearings and then headed for the period drama section all while watching her for any hand signals she might give to tell him which she wanted to read the back of or if she found one she liked the look of and wanted to rent.
Deanna: “Erm…” she wasn’t sure how to reply to that because she wasn’t sure if Hannah’s family actually knew she was dead. She was just…missing. She followed him to the store and began looking at what was available. “I don’t know where to start,” she whispered.
Robert: He smiled and telepathically replied. "Just look at the front of the boxes, see if any of them jump out at you. Could be the artwork, the actors or the title, anything really. Then just point, I'll turn it over and you can read. Then thumbs up for rent, thumbs down for shelf. We've a whole store to look through. So take your time and have a good nose!"
Deanna: Deanna looked around, the period dramas all had confusing or boring sounding titles, and so she literally drifted towards other areas of the store, coming to rest in the Sci-fi section which was a lot more colourful and interesting to look at. She waved Robert over and pointed to Alien Resurrection.
Robert: Robert pretended to browse, following her where she went until she pointed at something. Picking it up, he turned it over and pretended to read, but had it tilted towards Deanna, so she could read it instead as he'd be fine with anything.
Deanna: “Have you seen this one?” she whispered. “Is it any good?”
Robert: "Mmm Hmm. It's not great. Kinda cheesey" He replied telepathically
Deanna: "Suggest something good then. Please? I'm lost in here."
Robert: He had a look around the shelves and then picked one up called 'Stardust', showed her the front and then the back to see what she thought.
Deanna: “That looks interesting,” she says having read the back of the box. “Let’s get that one. Have you seen it?”
Robert: He shook his head, still talking to her telepathically. "Nope. But I've been meaning to. The adverts for it all looked good." He took a case from the shelf and returned the display case and then headed for the desk, checked it out with his card, paid the fee and then walked on out through the door and back towards the wilderness. "Happy?"
Deanna: “Very,” she replied in her normal tone. “Keara lets me choose movies and watches things with me sometimes but she’s about the only real friend I have. Yeah I know what you’re going to say. I should give Enver a chance or whatever but spending time with both of them at the same time is…awkward. The expression third wheel is never truer than hanging around with them.”
Robert: "Well, I'm sure they aren't together 24/7? They must have separate lives too? It's not healthy to be around someone constantly. You could maybe try doing something together, just having a chat or something? You know Enver is like a brother to me. But yeh, I know how difficult he can be." Chuckles. "And there's always Leyna too"
Deanna: “They might as well be. If you see one the other’s not usually far behind. They seem to enjoy one another’s company. And yeah but Leyna and I can’t do much either, since you know…no body. I’d bet she’d be good to chat with though.” Deanna didn’t go into the details of her sister’s relationship as she knew Keara wouldn’t like that but she didn’t mind chatting about it in a vague manner. It was odd to her how much she spoke about her, but then it was hardly surprising since Keara was the only real family she had anymore.
Robert: "Oh, Leyna's quite intelligent and well-travelled. She's from over in Europe somewhere originally I think it is. I'm not sure to be honest. So yes, she's got some interesting stories and experiences. You know she was a part of Solace too, back in her day?"
Deanna: “I didn’t know she was from Europe. I guess we have that in common then,” Deanna sounded a little excited by this revelation, not that perhaps Robert would pick up on it, as she’d pretty much been excited and excitable since she arrived at Solace to meet him. “And where are you from?” she brought the conversation back around to Robert, as she was determined to learn as much about him as possible.
Robert: "Oh, nowhere exciting. Just a place called 'Friendship' in Pittsburgh, America. I.... was back there recently actually..." He frowned a little, remembering.
Deanna: “Enver’s from America too isn’t he? I’m sure Keara’s said something about that and did you guys like grow up together? Or did you meet here? How are you two friends? I mean Keara says you remind her of Enver but I don’t see it. I mean you’re like nice and stuff. Enver’s just…well the word *** springs to mind.” She wasn’t sure she wanted to ask him why he frowned, as she didn’t like to see him upset in any way.
Robert: He nodded his head. "Yes, he's from California. He was a movie star for a while. Though I've never seen him in anything myself. But no, we met here. As for how we met... you know, I don't remember exactly. But we're family - in a way. If you follow our line up, we both end at Mircea. But I think it was through fifth column that we met first. And yeh, he can be an ***. But so can I."
Deanna: “Really? I don’t believe that. Enver’s a huge ***. At least to me he is. He can be a bit of an *** to Keara too but I don’t think she sees it. Or if she does she ignores it. I have no idea.” Dea fell silent for a few moments as she tried to recall what Mircea’s clan were better known as. “Odd that you’d met through a random group rather than your bloodline. What is your Bloodline called. The main one I mean. The clan. It begins with a G right?”
Robert: He nodded his head. "Yes. Grigori. But my sire split from them as did Enver's sire - I think. And then I've split from my sire too. So yeh, it's all split up and segmented. It's a mess, like - a horrible mess. They're all assholes in that line, looking out for themselves instead of for each other as a family is supposed to"
Deanna: She nodded but it barely showed in her shadowy form. “I kinda know what Keara would say to that. She’d say you are all of the same source or something, and that means you are family like it or not. Only she’d say it differently than that. She never used to speak like that you know. She was just as quiet though. But yeah. Families fight and argue. Isn’t that kind of normal?”
Robert: "Oh, it is. But my sire - as an example - disowned me, then used a ritual to locate me that she could only do because I was her childe. Then, after managing to avoid Tyt who wanted to kill me for a couple of weeks, she told them where I was and they swooped in and killed me, sent me to the realm of shadows. Which they'd never have been able to do if it wasn't for her betraying our blood bond. Most of the Grigori would rather I was dead and had never existed. Enver and Oria are the exceptions."
Deanna: “Your sire really did that? That’s awful. Sires should be supportive. If not that, they should at least be loyal. Why’d they hand you over? That’s absurd. I don’t know if Keara could do that. Sure she can’t lie but she could say she was refusing to help. Though I’m not sure if that is what she’d do. She doesn’t believe in killing our kind but she doesn’t believe in betraying our secret either. Oh…I’m sorry. I talk about her too much don’t I?” Dea suddenly realised she didn’t shut up about her sister. It was partially a nervous thing, talking about what she knew.
Robert: "I don't mind hearing about Keara. She's obviously important to you, it's nice that you have someone like that. I would like someone like that myself to be honest. I'm hoping maybe, with my kids.... I don't know. Maybe. But yes, she did that. And you can feel free to ask her if you see her, she never told me why, and has never spoken to me since."
Deanna: “Aw Robert I’m sorry. That’s awful. And you deserve someone like Keara. You do. And erm… did you tell me before that you had kids? That seems like something I’d remember. Though maybe you just said it in passing before. Like now. How old are they? Where do they live? Do you still see their mother?” They were perhaps intrusive questions but she couldn’t stop them from flowing out of her consciousness and into the world.
Robert: "No, I.... didn't know before. And they're 17 and 24. They actually, seem to live here, in Harper Rock. And yeh, I saw Marie a few weeks ago. It was.... odd."
Deanna: “How could you not know? And how did your marriage with… Maire was it? How’d that end? And if I’m being too nosy feel free to say so. You don’t; have to answer if you don’t want too.” Deanna wanted to know if he still loved Marie and if by “odd” he meant oddly familiar and if he was pining to go back to the life he had with his family.
Robert: "It's a bit of a sad story, my past. You sure you want to hear it before the film?" He asked as he opened the door to one of his private homes and let her in.
Deanna: “Only if you wanna tell me. The movie will cheer us up after…right? And all else fails I could give that possession thing a go and see if I can take control of you,” she laughed at the idea of herself in a man’s body.
